oh ok, hard to to tell sometimes.

i dont know what the opener situation is.  maybe UF can do it.  vic?  you got any pull in that area?  we\'ve been drawing well at the knit, so maybe i\'ll talk to them about it when we play on NYE.

Really isn\'t much to do these days I guess
Title: 02/04/06 - The Knitting Factory, NYC
Post by: Spacey on December 21, 2005, 05:16:18 pm
yeah, I thought that Urban Fetch was playing and this was announcement because I searched .net\'s tour page and didn\'t find it. I hardly look at Crecendo\'s page.

Definitely need an opener who can draw a solid number of heads, IMO, to these NY shows. Seems like the last few NY shows have been light.

BTW, I hardly even look at the title of the thread.

I am looking forward to this show but is there any chance we could get a repeat perforamnce in NYC the following week when Phil is in town. It would probably be a great way to get more people to the show considering how many folks will be around for Phil the following week

I love the KF!  I\'ll be there w/ as many CT people as I can drag.  Hey JC- will there be an Urban Fetch sighting in the same night?
Title: 02/04/06 - The Knitting Factory, NYC
Post by: Jim Cobb on January 03, 2006, 03:41:57 pm
probably not.  this show was booked as "an evening with the breakfast" which means that contractually, they are the only band on the bill.  alex, their booking agent, told me he\'s going to contact the venue and see what he can do, but i think the knit will be putting on an earlier show before the breakfast show.

edit: no urban fetch, but perhaps there will be a grand suprise...

Sat, Feb 04   8:00 PM     Hackensaw Boys DIFFERENT SHOW - NOT AN OPENER
Sat, Feb 04   12:00 AM     The Breakfast

Another late night with the band. I caught a little bit of Hackensaw at Trey this summer. They seemed talented but did not catch my attention.
It\'s a shame that Fetch can\'t open for the boys. Every head helps.

not to be a downer but I am not a fan of the upstairs if thats where they are playing. It just has a strange feel to it.

The tap room is way cooler imo.

Bring the other half of your friends to the Knit and be confident that you made the right choice.

Hell with it, Breakfast doesn\'t go on until after 12, you have plenty of time to get bored with Keller and then drive down to catch the Breakfast show.;)

yeah man, i mean why would you even go to his show if you don\'t like him at all, then have the audacity to do something as fucked up as that?  i mean come on, how would you like it if you were playing a show and some dude who doesn\'t like you came to your show and thew shit in your face?  thats majorly disrespectful.  i think you might want to look at that.
Title: 02/04/06 - The Knitting Factory, NYC
Post by: Klout on January 15, 2006, 01:08:28 pm
I went because I do like him. I threw the corn for several reasons.

1) I wasted on whiskey
2) We had been throwing the corn all over at everyone all night. It was the end of the night and everyone in the venue had been hit by corn beside keller and it seemed like the only thing left to do
3) The show was weak sauce
4) THe place was a mob scene to the point where we had to cut a 3 block line and physically push our way in the door just to get in then keller was being a sarcastic asshole about it on stage.
5) Keller is a huuuuuuuge asshole in real life despite his happy go lucky songs and lyrics.
6) Someone dared me to
7) I was wasted on whiskey

I admit it was totally out of line, disrespectful, childish, and fucked up and whatever else.

It was however HILLARIOUS.

Hmm perhaps I should go now that I have a car. Makes driving in cities much simpler. No way I\'m driving all the way back to NH afterwards though, so I shall have to think on this one.

By the way, for some reason, the idea of dried corn being thrown around really makes me laugh. Did you bring it in there with you? Weird. You\'re lucky no Keller fanatics threw you out.

Hey Walsh where exactly are you? If I go I am sure I will be going solo, and I will be going 84 to 91S to 95S, so I could make a pitstop along the way. Plus, it would be nice to have some company... which would make me a lot more likely to go... Same goes to anyone else who may need a ride.

Walsh/Mark... Sorry I missed your posts; I was in NC over the weekend. Speaking of which, I went to the Marrz Theatre; great venue, the Breakfast should play there. It\'s kinda big though...

But anyhow... I am still 50/50 on the show this weekend due to financial constraints.... Also, I kind of want to go see my friend\'s band play at the Alphabet Lounge before I go see the B\'fast... that band plays at 9. haven\'t worked out the logistics yet though; I am unsure what the distance is between the Alphabet Lounge and the Knit. So yeah.... I don\'t know how this will affect you guys / if it will change plans. I have to thik on this whole thing... I will let you guys know as soon as I know. Walsh obviously I would have room for Mad. I have an empty car.

Ouch!! that sucks d00d.  My car officially bit the bullet a while back and I am still dealing w/ the grief :( def. makes getting to shows a little more difficult.. It is so nice to be able to just hop in the car with some sketchy mapquest directions in search of the sound.
enough of the sappiness though- it\'s been a while since the last Knit show which was chock full of goodness, and I hope to see all you there...

The best scenario is a hotel room... i have a friend w a studio apt. nearby, but i don\'t think she wants (or can fit) a whole lot of people inside - I\'m working on hotey details now, but I\'d need people who can help me throw down on some cash, since I\'m broke ;)

hotels in nyc are ridiculously expensive. i would def be willing to throw down on that one in ardsley. it\'s like 25-30 minutes outside of the city but you can definitely rage a little hotey party there. i think it\'s only like $80 a room too.

I\'m down for ardsley, i\'ll be driving the mini bus..... ok it\'s an escort, but it\'s held  6 uncomfortably from NYC before. so far i have 3, room for 2-3 more if need be. I\'ll be headed from RI early afternoon.

Joc - Thanks for the offer, I am out. Too many things to do Saturday.

Official request for an earlier than midnight start for the next NYC show.

wouldn\'t the late start leave you with plenty of time to take care of everything else on saturday?
The midnight starts are still rough though, IMOO (In my old opinion!)

I hear you, Mark.  Staying up late kills one\'s normal schedule once the work week resumes on Monday (that is unless your routine is late night most nights of the week ;) ).

Well... I don\'t know if I am going or not. I may not have enough money.

If I do go, I want to check out my friend\'s band beforehand if possible. I don\'t know how you feel about that, and that may affect your decision as far as if you want a ride from me or not.

If I DO go, I don\'t know what my plans are post-show. I may try to stay with a friend, in which case, you might have to find a ride back with someone else, which is shitty.

SO there are a lot of factors I need to sort out. Basically, at this moment in time, all I can give is an "I don\'t know." I hope to have decided upon everything by tomorrow.

I\'ll speak for Derick here. If you want you can squeeze in with us.

Ardsley Acres is definitely the way to go. I will throw down for a room.

they redid the insides of all the rooms and raised to prices to 85 dollars last time i was there, fridges and microwaves in every room now.  if you are going to that grimey joint i suggest a room in the back, behind the actual motel, rooms 50-59 i believe.  they\'re so far away from the rest of the motel its much better for parties, if you do get a room back there watch out for 6 month old pieces of sushi stuck in the a.c......and under the beds........and in the heaters.........and behind the t.v.........and in the ceiling vents......, well you get the picture.

I fucking love Shadey Acres. I believe we had a room in the back last time we stayed there in August for the "Boating With The Breakfast" run. Had a good time, no in any of the other rooms, a very comfortable floor under a desk and the morning sun coming up as I was crashing.

Robyn and I are def. in for Shady Acres. We are going to get a room for ourselves. Let me know asap if you want a room. If we can get enough people to get 4-5 rooms, I\'ll call and see if I can get a group rate. I\'ll use my company name and tell \'em it\'s for a shoot...or some other bs to get the rooms cheaper!!!

Please let me know before Thur. 4 p.m. or so...

Should be one loooooong set like the last time. Definitely worth the time and effort.
Those shelved originals have got me drooling.
I hope the cover is "Back In The New York Groove". I mentioned it to Tim when I saw the solo Timmy show at the Knit but he did not know the song. I still think that it would be better acoustic.

I second that motion.

Last time I was the Lions Den for the Breakfast show, I tried shorting the female bartender on a tip because she said $5 for a beer and if my memory serves me correctly, she stood there until I gave her a tip, which I cowardly reached into my wallet and extracted a dollar in which was the last dollar I spent that night on beer.

from grand central, take the shuttle to times square then transfer to the 1 train heading downtown.  get off at franklin street.  when you leave the subway station walk south a block or two to leonard street and make a left.  in a block or two, the knit will be on your right.

[BANANA]Today is the day![/BANANA]

WOO-HOO!

I hope the band plays 2 sets or until 4-5am, which ever comes first. Looking forward to the new original, cover and the throwbacks. For sure, they won\'t let us down.

If everyone can print a few flyers for the Danbury Show (http://www.blueberrydreams.com/breakfast_flyer.pdf), Cut, Print, Pass! It would be helpful, NYC isn\'t that far from Danbury.

All is well spaceman. Things always work out.....It\'s shadey acres, what could happen?
You\'ll be at ease when we put some road behind use. Just don\'t want to get stuck in a ford escort with 6 people on the way home.(again)

Rujah, you really can\'t ask for setlist updates 1.5 hours before the band takes the stage.  Dave generally makes arrangements many hours in advance of the shows.

why? it seems to me that it would be rather easy for text-based setlist updates...

I think I covered enough ground in my previous explanation, though I\'ll expand:

Dave needs a volunteer to receive the setlist updates before he: gets ready to leave the house > rides on the train (or drives) > eats in the city > sets up his taping equipment > watches the show; and this is all assuming that he even wants to interrupt his enjoyment at the show after every song/segue/tease.  You asked about a setlist update while most people were already at the venue.  If there were setlist updates arranged for tonight, you probably would have read about it in this thread sometime in the afternoon.
