Something like this...... Doughboy, beef barley, silver bullet, tunage, existential funk, see the light.
Set 2: puppetry, mayfly, rufus, metropolis, chase.
Encore: heaven and hell with buquebus tease

What was the event?

What was the event?
someone\'s graduation... so does this mean the hiatus is over? fuck, ill chip in to throw a private event to get to see them play again if thats what it takes. I\'ll throw a 1 year anniversary, wife\'s 30th bday & masters graduation as well as dad\'s 60th bday party combined... hire the band and charge a cover at the door to cover the expenses.
-
it was a private graduation party with mostly the kid\'s family and close friends in groton. there was a cap. at like 40 people. i didn\'t get an invite but i managed to sneak on the guest list last second (the band had 2 spots or something)
-
seems a little cheesy to play a private party a couple months after you announce to your loyal fan base that you are going on indefinite hiatus...
I am sure they could use the money or whatever but I mean what is the difference between this and getting paid to play at a bar? A lot more cash I am guessing? Personal favor to someone close to the band?
Still feels like a bit of an insult to the fan base. Don\'t really care as I don\'t have any hope of seeing them anytime soon anyway but it seems like kind of a cheesy move. Like "yea we will play in your back yard if you are gonna pay us 3 times our market value...but if its our normal rate for the fans..no, we don\'t do that anymore".
-
The band should have said fuck no we are not going to play in a room that holds 40 people where most of them are going to be some kids family.
Should have told the kid to get a proper sized graduation venue and then made it more or less a real show, or at least had a huge invite list.
Or actually they should have just not played it, because they are on hiatus and I agree this does feel like an insult to the fans.
Nice to see a few people managed to get in there anyway...

"some people" being the ser fans in the front row that you saw in the picture?? we were invited. it wasn\'t some elaborate scheme to get into a random party and see the breakfast. we know the kid who graduated, he\'s our friend, he invited us. we were not allowed to invite other people. we would have loved for it to be a huge raging breakfast show but it was not. i love you tuna, i would have loved for you to be there.
-
The Breakfast can\'t even hiatus correctly. Fucking ridic.
-
Honestly people im gona try and keep this as nice and sweet as possible, but the world is going to continue to orbit the sun in a manner similar to the lifespan of the universe.
This party has been discussed with the band for over a year now, and when they announced their hiatus, plns were almost finished for the party.
Yes they did get paid decently well but oh well, its not like most of you people havent had some sort of private breakfast experience that you can reflect on.
About half of the people who were there were friends of the graduater- Artie- and had never even seen the breakfast, just heard all the stories we throw down their throat when we get home.
Lots of exposure for these guys to a much younger crowd, yes Artie\'s family was there but the lved it too. Basically a night filled with love, which is why i was ok with not letting it get out because it will just get washed away with hate.
i could keep going...
-
^^ yess.. came on to say most of that. it was a bit of a n00bfest with a couple ser fans thrown in there (though i myself am pretty much still a n00b). there was no random fans that the graduate didn\'t know that just found there way in... and in the band\'s defense they had already agreed to play the party way before the hiatus was announced!! it wasn\'t a post-hiatus money-driven decision. they were just keeping their word.
i think we just keep being POSITIVE about The Breakfast in general. i saw lots of positive posts BEFORE the board found out about this private party, and now all those good vibes seem to have gone out the window. i think everyone should just keeping showing as much love as possible. show The Breakfast that our love for them is UNDYING until their return (though i\'m sure the love won\'t end there).

Wow. I\'m really surprised at some of the comments on here. I don\'t see how its an insult at all. It looks more like four guys that are honoring a commitment. I think thats awesome and it introduced the band to some new folks. Nothing wrong there. Do I wish I could\'ve been there, of course. But that happens with every show
-
don\'t worry tuna, you\'d probably have passed out on the floor halfway thru the show anyways.
and quit tagging me in pics of strangers on fb.
-
just men keeping their word. nothing all to see here folks..
-
anyone tape?
-
audio should be out soon ;)
-
the puppetry was something else..
-
puppetry raged real hard for sure. what a great night.
-
well that makes sense if it was in the works for a while. Glad the guys were able to stick to their agreement and those who were able to attend enjoyed it.

:that:
Couldn\'t have said it better. It\'s a little ironic jonesin\' for them to play, then fiercely begrudging them after the fact. It was a previous commitment and we should be happy that there is some hope for more Breakfast in 2012. Just sayin\' ...
Looking forward to the audio and happy to hear it might have turned on some new fans.

I make no apologies for feeling it was somewhat of a burn that they played a show at which several of my friends got to attend but I did not.
I have never held back my thoughts or feelings on this message board and don\'t intend to start doing it now.
The Breakfast is my favorite live band. But then they broke up... but then they played a secret show I didn\'t get to go to.
Really MY BAD for taking it the wrong way.
BTW I am not exactly "jonesing" for another Breakfast show. I\'ve spent 11 years of my life to a good degree making going to Breakfast shows a high priority, spent tons of money, tripped out / got drunk / got fucked up doing so, put like a hundred thousand miles on my poor old car, and in the process met a lot of wonderful friends that I know I will have for life.
I don\'t need another Breakfast show. I\'m not even sure at this point what my plans would be as a fan if they got back together and started touring.
What I do know is I don\'t want to see this amazing band get back together unless they really, really want to. If they are gonna put their hearts into it and make a commitment to the band (and the fans) that they are gonna be SER once again.. about THE BREAKFAST and not like a dozen other side projects so they have no time for Breakfast... then perhaps I can see myself once again being committed to being a ser fan.
I will always respect and to some extent admire all the musicians who ever were a part of Psychedelic/The Breakfast. However I have not much desire to see them playing in various other projects.
