Im trying to say that there is so much bullshit tied in with 9/11 to think that killing Bin Laden serves us justice is a mockery. There are some serious indiscrepancies with what was reported that day, I really don\'t want to get started I need to go to bed.

I can speak first hand. I was in NYC on 9-11-01. I was in the Metlife building (near Grand Central) on a job interview, which is pretty far from the WTC, but I could see the smoke rising from downtown, and the panic in the streets. One of my best friends from school was in the WTC and died in the attack. It was real. I assure you. If you have any doubts go to Ground Zero. You might be too young to remember, but there used to be two giagantic buildings there.
Bin Laden claimed responsibilty. End of story. Killing him (he wouldn\'t be taken alive) is the first step toward justice.
That said, I think celebrating in the street is moronic. It doesn\'t bring anybody we lost back, and doesn\'t prevent future terrorists from striking again. One very dangerous threat has been eliminated. Good. Let\'s move on.
As for the airports these days- it\'s over kill. I don\'t think an airplane will ever be successfully hijacked again. Hijacking works on the principal that the hostages think they will live if they cooperate. Hijacked passengers now will already consider themselves dead and fight accordingly.

No one ever said it didn\'t happen and the facts are facts that there were many discrepancies being reported that day and in the weeks following especially if you watched US news.

I feel for you on your losses that day it was the most tragic thing I\'ve ever seen happen. No doubt planes flew into those towers and those towers collapsed. How they collapsed and the knowledge that the US had of these attacks prior to them happening is the real concerns I have.
As for the other two planes where the funk are the planes? That is the only time in aviation history where planes completely disinigrated upon impact. Yea I believe that for sure. There is so much to read about this shit I don\'t feel the need to get emotional about this on here because that\'s how it always ends up.
And yea Im a sophomore at school therefore I have plenty of time do so reasearch on shit. I wrote a paper on this last year and poured my heart into it so this isn\'t some shit I just saw on the internet and felt the need to back up

Im a math major guy I dont take any sociology classes or shit like that. Just writing classes and math classes. Why are you looking for excuses to beat around the bush on this topic? I understand it\'s a scary thought not having what Fox Nexs reported that day to be actually true. A real investigation needs to be opened and some clarity needs to be brought on certain aspects of that day. That way assholes like me will shut the fuck up and assholes like you can go on living in ignorance

I actually was planning on going this year - till I found out my dad\'s 40-something-year college reunion at UC Davis was gonna coincide with the fest. Hanging with parents that weekend out here.
I look forward to hearing the soundboard which will be shared promptly like last year.

Wanted to comment on this particular point by wildcoyote first. Two things:
1. I agree with your theory when applied to a situation of 4 or 5 guys hijacking a plane full of passengers a la 9/11. However, what terrorists could do is find flights that fly well below capacity (ideally below 50%), buy all the tickets, and then get enough guys on there to outmuscle the passengers and crew. This would be easiest with a lot of shuttle routes in the western part of the country that routinely fly small planes at low density i.e. 10/30 seats filled. You wouldn\'t get a jumbo jet out of it but you could still wreak plenty of havoc with a smaller plane. Overall it\'s still highly unlikely this would work but so was 9/11.
2. Most of the security that has gone into place in the past 10 years has been due to people trying to blow up planes, not hijack them. Nevertheless, I do tend to agree with you that security is overkill or "security theater" - especially when considering how a country like Israel manages to secure their airports with far less hassle to the passengers.
As for P4B\'s quoted comment, I think it is OK to question many aspects of what we\'ve been told about 9/11. There are a couple of major aspects of the story that I\'m not quite completely convinced about. But I don\'t think that there will ever be enough evidence to prove any theories that stray far from the truth we\'ve been given. I find anyone who proclaims any conspiracy theories to be undeniable truth to be quite unbelievable.
FWIW, here are the top 3 major aspects of the story that I am not 100% sure about. (In reverse order)
3. That American Airlines flight 175 is the plane that hit the south tower. I\'m 98% sure that it was but not 100%. There is some compelling evidence to suggest that it was a different plane. However, I question the credibility of most of the sources espousing this evidence, and there is far more compelling evidence that the story we\'ve been given about Flight 175 is the truth.
2. That the plane impacts were the sole catalyst of the towers collapsing. I\'m about 90% convinced that this is true, but not 100%. All "controlled demolition" theories have holes and seem highly unlikely, but they are not completely implausible either. I acknowledge that I know nothing about physics and that a lot of the stuff out there about controlled demolition theories is probably designed to convince people like me (who know nothing about physics) that controlled demolition is the truth. There is a TON of info about controlled demolition theories out there and a lot of the research seems to come from pretty credible sources. What can I say...I highly favor the media/government story that it was just the planes that did it, but I\'m not completely sold on that story. Sorry.
1. The case of WTC 7 really bothers me. (That\'s the other WTC building that collapsed even though nothing hit it.) What makes this one so hard to understand is that it\'s not even clear what the "company line" is for why this building collapsed. The media, government, and popular opinion unanimously agree that flight 175 hit the south tower and that the plane impacts caused the towers to collapse. I can at least be certain of what I\'m supposed to believe in those cases. But there doesn\'t seem to be any widely agreed-upon story as to why WTC 7 collapsed. It\'s almost like we\'ve been invited to come up with our own story for this, which is why it\'s hard to know what to make of it. I\'m open to anything here because it\'s not clear what we\'re even supposed to believe in the first place.
Again, I would like to disclaim that I don\'t think that there will ever be enough evidence to prove any theories that stray far from the truth we\'ve been given, and I think that to proclaim any "conspiracy" theory as undeniable truth is quite premature and fanciful at this time.

In spite of that we have to try to make the best of our lives and exercise the freedoms that we do have. I have a legit question (quoting Tuna but for anyone who wants to answer it): who other than foreign terrorists would be behind the carnage in NYC? The government? Why would the government want to create a false scenario to create two wars that took trillions away from GDP and gave nothing back?
Hasn\'t surfaced in the thread but I figured I would make a few comments about.....The old blood for oil argument: never held any merit with me because we are not pumping large amounts of oil for our gain. We could have used Iraqi oil to share the reconstruction costs and I\'m pretty sure we didn\'t do that either. The US has massive untapped reserves of coal/shale oil/natural gas etc - we are just too environmentally sensitive to access a lot of it.

Al raises a completely legitimate question. In fact, this question should always be the first response given to anyone who says that they don\'t completely buy in to every detail of the media/government story.
I have a very hard time coming up with a good answer. This question is what keeps me as high as 90-99% confident that what I\'ve been told is true. Especially when it comes to controlled demolition. Based on physical evidence alone I\'m only 50% confident as to whether the planes could possibly be the sole catalyst to make a building collapse in the manner that they did...but when I factor in Al\'s question (i.e. motive and plausibility) for any alternatives, it makes the media/government story seem more like the best option.
It\'s certainly hard to believe that the government played an active role in 9/11, but it\'s equally hard to believe that everything was really a total shock as they say it was. It warrants mention that many, many governments have done far, far worse things to their own people. I don\'t think that the government had any active role in planning the events of 9/11 but I do think that the following conversation between heavies could very well have happened:
CIA heavy: We have credible evidence that terrorists are planning to hijack planes and fly them into buildings in the next couple of days or weeks.
Military heavy: We can stop them. We may have to take some measures that will be visible and possibly scary to the public, but we can certainly stop them.
Political heavy 1: Now hold on a minute. Let\'s think this through. What are the pros and cons of stopping this versus letting it happen?
Political heavy 2: Well, if we let it happen...
The political heavies in the room then go on to rationalize both sides and eventually determine that there is sufficient political benefit for them to let it happen.
Again, I don\'t actually think that this happened. I think that the story we\'ve been given is the most plausible story. I\'m just saying that it\'s plausible that we haven\'t been given the entire story. It\'s hard to believe that everything was a total surprise. I know it sucks to think about. Al\'s question of "what was there to gain?" is totally legit. I have no idea what anyone thought they would gain. Then again, a lot of governments have done far, far worse to their people for what turned out to be no gain.

This is what it\'s all about... no matter what bullshit gets thrown our way in terms of large-scale shit like this or even personal strife all we can do is keep a happy attitude, be grateful we\'re alive, and keep in mind karma can be very kind or very brutal.
That being said I\'ve heard a few reasons for "why" the government would dip its fingers into this mess. None of them really make much sense to me, the oil arguement doesn\'t have much pull, and the government did actually make some money off this after everything is said and done with the war.
What I think is they were losing control of the American public and wanted to make sure there was somebody to fear, we needed a reason to unify together and we needed a way to make sure our troops would go fight. Thats how our economy really gets going, soldiers are away from home fighting leaving more room for people to get jobs here, not to mention all the jobs that get created helping supply our troops overseas. I dont want to sound like a radical prick but this shit really bothers me so I am gonna keep pushing for an answer until I die
