Major Breakfast nooob, and I\'d like to d/l some stuff off the archive but was hoping for a couple suggestions to get me started.

And for the record IMO, I can safely say that I never would have paid to see a band called "Psychedelic Breakfast" so I think the name change was brilliant.  Besides the fact that they aren\'t some hippy dippy jamband, they actually rock.

Seems like all the \'04 shows are in .flac format and I don\'t have, nor do I particularly want to get a .flac converter.  Any reason you guys prefer .flacs to .shns?  If it\'s the only way to get a show, I\'ll happily download some software and winamp, but I\'ve got an old grudge against winamp.  I\'ve got a .shn converter though.

Sigh, this is more trouble than I thought though well worth the effort I\'m sure.

Perhaps I\'ll just buy a CD at the show tomorrow.

flac is great...you can burn directly to .wav disc. No more of this needing 2.5 times the storage on your hard drive to convert shn to wav and then burning the disc. It\'s the wav of the future, man!!! <-sorry for that

Penny Lane -

FLAC is preferred because it will make your download faster (because the files are smaller)

If you can handle converting SHN to WAV then you will find it WAY easier to convert FLAC to WAV. The program you need to do it is free

http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

and once you take the plunge you will be able to grab any show you want wether it is in FLAC or SHN or whatever

If you need help feel free to post or you can hit me up on AIM. It is really very simple once you have done 1 or 2

As far as downloads I always have a special affinity for the Tobacco Road shows from NYC. Always a great time and usually killer shows

Thanks ya\'ll!  You have been immensely helpful.  I had no idea that Flacs were so easy to d/l.  I guess it\'s just one of those things where you get in the habit of doing something and even if doing it another way may be faster or easier, you\'re still hesitant to change.

Well consider me a new woman.  I\'m going to download that program now.  And the show.

these are my favorite shows right now. they are all flac except 8/7 is shn, so you definately need to go get the flac frontend from http://mikewren.com/flac

5/8/03 - pearl street
8/7/03 - toad\'s place
1/31/04 - iron horse
2/12/04 - tribeca rock club
2/28/04 - cafe zacquor

I\'ve d/led the necessary equipment and have begun downloading the show after a successful test.  If anyone is interested, I have posted an Umphrey\'s McGee B+P as a thanks for ya\'lls help.

And if anyone is curious about UM, I highly recommend any of the Joshua Redman shows from February.  They are up on the archive, and the best I thought was the one from the Funk Box in Maryland.

OK, enough UM fluffing, now it\'s time to hear some new stuff.

download and install flac (link provided in previous post by Chris). If you have Nero/ Nero Express burning software, it throws a plugin into Nero so you can drag and drop flac files into Nero just as if they were wav files and burn them to cd. If you don\'t have Nero, drop me a line and I\'ll send you an install disc. ;)

edit: wow, I just realized that I passed 420 posts, I guess now I\'m Bona Fide

Got to agree with ChrisF - Cafe Zaq and Tribeca are great shows, though the setlist for Webster\'s - Tim\'s Birthday - is also very good.

They haven\'t found that show YET!!!???!!! :hscratch: They must be on dope or something. Half way through uploading this show they switched servers on my upload folder and this show got thrown into hyperspace or something. Problem is, I can\'t u\'l it again until they find it or delete it. :banghead:

Also, Jordan teases "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy".  It\'s very subtle, but being a former high school jazz-band dork, I know it\'s there.
