In addition to this year’s schedule, Adult Swim outlined details of the highly anticipated feature, The Aqua Teen Hunger Force Movie Film for Theatres, slated to open in theaters this fall. The film, written by Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis, is based on their successful series about human-sized food products Meatwad, Frylock and Master Shake. The first movie based on an Adult Swim original series is an action epic that chronicles the mysterious origins of the trio and the battle over an immortal piece of exercise equipment.

How do you turn a series of shorts about anthropomorphic fast food into a feature film?
The world may find out, possibly sometime in 2006. An "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" movie will be ready for release by then, say Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis, the show\'s creators.

"We wrote and recorded it last year, and it should be done by December," Maiellaro said Friday (March 4) at the Museum of Television & Radio\'s annual Paley Television Festival, prompting several "whoos" from the crowd of Adult Swim fans.
Maiellaro and Willis were on the panel with two other creative teams from Cartoon Network\'s freewheeling late-night lineup, Tim Heidecker and Matt Wareheim of "Tom Goes to the Mayor" and Matt Senreich and Seth Green of "Robot Chicken."
Willis and Maiellaro didn\'t want to reveal too much about the "Aqua Teen" movie, but they did offer up a couple of tidbits. For one, it will feature 1980s funk outfit Cameo, of "Word Up" and "Shake Your Pants" fame. As for the plot, "It\'s an action piece that leads into an origin story that unfolds in a very \'Aqua Teen\' way," Maiellaro says.

Willis and Maiellaro, who formerly worked on "Space Ghost Coast to Coast," also talked about the origins of the show. They first came into being as the mascots for a fast-food place where Space Ghost buys a huge amount of food. But because "he has no idea what money is," Willis says, he\'s forced to bring the mascots onto his show. The characters who would become Frylock, Master Shake and Meatwad then take over the show.

Cartoon Network initially rejected the idea, but Maiellaro and Willis took the characters into their own world, and the rest is Adult Swim history. They eventually finished the "Space Ghost Coast to Coast" episode as well, and it aired in 2003.

Willis and Maiellaro aren\'t sure yet when or how their movie will be distributed, but given their corporate parents, they\'re not worried.

"You would think at Time Warner, someone\'s got to know how to release a movie," Willis says.

Only saw Aqua Teen a few times, but any fans of the show who like rap should consider listening to The Mouse and the Mask by Danger Doom.

 i know what you mean!!

I thought Seasons 1-3 were really fantastic, I remember even watching that Space Ghost episode when they debuted, sooo funny (and the characters are really different)..
Shamefully, I haven\'t been tuning in lately... maybe its because its gotten so popular? (rebellion at its purest folks)
Either way, I\'m pumped to see an adult swim movie come out. I\'d love to see a Harvey Birdman or Sealab 2021 (tinfins!!) in theaters soon....

Hey, didn\'t see any reports on this yet. Lots of huge spoilers here.
Last night at the Mall of Georgia just outside of Atlanta they held what we were told was the first ever screening of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie. They told us some of the music and animation were temporary, and it was lacking opening and closing credits, but otherwise it looked mostly complete.

As for the movie itself, I really enjoyed it. I was worried going in that the fast pace of the 15 minute episodes wouldn\'t be able to sustain itself through a 90 minute movie, but they managed to pull it off.

As reported before, the story revolves around the origin of the Aqua Teens, which somehow involves an exercise machine, Neil Pert from Rush, and a slice of talking watermelon voiced by Chris Kattan.

As a fan of the show, I got just about everything I could want out of a movie version. All of the regular characters make an appearance, with the Cybernetic Ghost and the Plutonians featured heavily, but Time Lincoln (as seen in the closing credits), the Mooninites, and MC Pee Pants all have parts as well.

Also showing up briefly is the missing 4th member of the Aqua Teens, a chicken nugget going by the name of Chicken Bittle played by none other Bruce Campbell himself.

As with most of the episodes, the ending is completely ridiculous and comes out of nowhere with the last scene finally revealing the mother of the Aqua Teens as a talking burrito with huge breasts, followed immediately by the closing credits.

The humor seemed a little bit more adult than the show, and "fuck" and "shit" were uttered a few times, but they kept it subtle.

Oddly, some of the cursing was bleeped out while other instances were left in (which I must say was more entertaining), so it\'s really hard to say how it will end up in the final version.

Overall, it delivered pretty much everything I could have wanted from an ATHF movie and I think fans of the show will really love it. They didn\'t tell us when it would finally be released, but with everything looking as good as it did, hopefully the wait won\'t be too much longer.

Weird. A first screening of an incomplete movie at a mall? Weird.

I\'m not a big ATHF fan at all.  Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman and even the Brak show were all superior IMO.

Typical adult swim, they have the Aqua Teen movie in the bottom corner of the screen so small you can\'t see what\'s going on at all.    I was wondering how they could show a movie on TV before it hits theatres, I knew something was up.
