thanks to Gordo for the idea...
simple - what\'s your favorite Breakfast album?
cast your vote!
-
deuce. hands down.
-
duece... by a hair
-
pb is outstanding but duece just takes the cake!
-
have to agree duece is by far the best
-
close call, but the fact that I can\'t listen to deuce all the way through because of phatty boom baddy and beef barley made me vote for real radio. Real radio is solid from beginning to end.
-
Great question.
I don\'t know yet.
-
asked dave if he could do this to see if Deuce would win by a landslide.. strong start. Deuce is my favorite album that i own. took the cake from Rift upon first listen. somethin about blue covers on albums.....
-
somethin about blue covers on albums.....
i read this as "blues covers", and thought to myself, "where did i miss the blues cover on deuce!?!?"
-
ha! come on, what about the one on rift too man?! wasnt Mound originally a BBK song?
-
Going to have to dig out the albums and have a listen. Usually only listen to them when the wife is in the car and she lets me put one of them on as she hates live shows!!
-
Deuce, but only because I haven\'t bought or heard Real Radio yet.....

things that make you go, hmmmm?
-
wasnt Mound originally a BBK song?
I am almost certain Mound is a Mike Gordon original.
Mike wrote Mound. First, he wrote the music. Then, he listened to the music he had written and mumbled along with it into a tape recorder. Then he listend to the tape of the mumbling and wrote out the words that he heard himself saying. The phrases that are in the Rift liner notes are things he heard himself saying on the tape that didn\'t make it into the final version of the song that they recorded.
-
come on spaceman, did anyone else not get my weak sarcasm? i thought it was too obvious when typing. obviously bb king aint singing "in an icy clunk of ice beneath the ground."
i knew gordon wrote it, but thats a cool little fact. wasnt rift recorded in a castle where Phish was doing their own acid experiments? i swear i read that in a book when i first started getting into them.

spaceman=confused, and out of the loop.

where\'s your vote?

where\'s your vote?
I am torn between Duece and Real Radio.
Duece has a lot of the tunes that I really like. Buquebus appears on this album and I hate to not give King Buquebus all my respect HOWEVER, Real Radio is the first studio album I BOUGHT in 5 years.
I am torn.
-
1st album, so classic, so nice, would make me feel at home 1000 miles away. always reliable always dependable psychedelic breakfast.
-
no love for bona fide, eh?
-
bona fide used to be my favorite before i got deuce. escher\'s, spunk, RUFUS, fft, taboo, wildpack, drunk munk, gbfbits.............fuckin siiiick songs. deuce is just too powerful of a cd, i find myself chosing to listen to that one over any other breakfast cd i own.... live or studio
-
When do the polls close? I need to listen to them all, all the way through before voting. It\'s amazing when you think how completely unique and different they all are.
-
Voted for deuce but I love real radio.....doughboy = catchy and awesome, their song writing is starting to take shape
-
Wow the album that got me hooked on PB(Bonafide) ahh Rufus, the album that made me give my heart to PB(Deuce) Mooboo\'s or the album that confirmed my belief that this band can do it all and will make it in due time(Real Radio) A Fresh Cut indeed!
I have to go with Growth and Promise of a Future.
Real Radio it is
-
PB all the way. Garcian Fishbowl> ATSD> Puppetry = so amazing for such a young band.

I think PB is a close 2nd as it brings back memories of my first shows in late \'99.
I\'m not a fan of Beef Barley and Question Mark and the Mind, therefore Deuce has difficulty positioning itself against the others for the top spot.
-
fuck. i hate this question..
i\'m gonna have to go with Real Radio (beating out Deuce)...
Deuce contains my favorite Breakfast song to date (Buquebus). it also contains a fantastic studio Mooboo\'s, and the monstorous Tribal. See The Light is also terrific.
however, it also contains Phaddy Boom Baddy, which, after hearing it played on the juke at the Electric Company, i was reminded why i always skip it when i listen to Deuce. and while the Beef Barley\'s of late have been the Escalades of jam vehicles, the Deuce version does zero for me. i can also live without What The Funk.
Real Radio has its monsters as well, in Gravity and TGSOT. but RR also contains a more mature, better Breakfast, which isn\'t found on any other album. the guys on RR are better players, better songwriters, and better singers than on any other album. echoing what mike said earlier, i can agree that there isn\'t a song on RR that i even think about skipping over.
so... Real Radio it is... subtract PBB and BB from Deuce, throw on a Sundance, and we may have a different story...

I think that I also voted for R.R. because I tend to listen to it from beginning to end as well. Deuce usually requires a few skips.
-
i have to agree with dave, RR wins because i don\'t need to skip phaddy, and barley, however ever much i may love certain songs on that album, you can hear a level of maturity on RR that isn\'t always as apparent on Deuce
-
i would much rather listen to any song on Deuce than any version of Vera Street ever. but yeah i definitely see what you guys are saying. BB is really weak compared to live takes, same with WTF, but ive always liked Phaddy, personally. i just think one album that contains TFA, STL, Buquebus, and Mooboo\'s is untouchable.
-
I still don\'t know what to do. I am going to take a drive now, just so I can listen to an album.
damn decisions!
why didn\'t anyone tell me it was going to be this hard.
-
I had to go with Deuce. Probably because it was my first album that I ordered. I really like Real Radio but like Bonafide I have a couple favorite tracks but it\'s never first choice when I sift through my selection of The Breakfast. I\'ve never heard the first album though from what I\'ve heard of many of the songs I think I would really like it. Bottom Line: Mooboo\'s secures it for me, I can\'t get enough of that track.
-
question mark owns vera street...........phaddy boom baddy and beef barley own fresh cut. DEUCE !!!!!!!
-
hhhmmmm. Not a single person has picked Bona Fide, not that I\'m surprised. It\'s really hard for me to pick one of these as a favorite, they are all such different. Psychedelic Breakfast so light and jazzy, Deuce so jammy and Real Radio so clean and polished, I love them all for their own thing.
-
PB all the way. Garcian Fishbowl> ATSD> Puppetry = so amazing for such a young band.
there\'s no segue from garcian to attraction.
-
Bona Fide would prolly be my #2, with RR a very close #3. Drunk Monk, Spunk, Rufus.
-
1.PB
2.Bona Fide
3.duece
4.Real Radio
There\'s just something about the origional out of print pb. Its got an underlying mood through out the whole album. i don\'t know, i cant explain it. the next 3 are pretty much interchangeable depending on what day of the week you ask me.
-
Good poll! It has provided me with the idea of listening to all of the albums in succession at work (though my neighbor plays garbage music all day long and is currently blasting Goo Goo Dolls while I\'m trying to drown it out with Buquebus).
All the albums are great, though I can only imagine what some of the Bona Fide tunes would sound like in the studio.
-
i originally voted duece with out much thought....but a freind of mine played the PB album for me yesterday for the first time in a long time. all i can say is, wow, what a sick album. i still couldn\'t vote it over duece cause the sound is way fuller on II than PB. but ya man, its sick!
1.Duece
2.PB/RR
3.Bonafide
-
If I knew that Bona Fide wasn\'t going to get any votes, I probably would have been the contratrian and voted for it, even though it\'s not my favorite. Poor middle child doesn\'t get any love.
-
bona fide is friggin\' awsome except for the fade outs
-
wait...bona :insert fart noise here: what now?

-

Not that it\'s awful but, I\'d much rather listen to one of the many plethora of shows that I have. Bona Fide os more for first timers IMO
-
bona fide rufus = serrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....one of my favorite versions
-
bona fide rufus = serrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....one of my favorite versions
Reason #1 why I am on Team Rufus. Bonafide is an awesome album until you find other Breakfast.
-
team queeb
-
deuce=the epitome of epicness
-
Deuce
-
Bonifide\'s the shit! Come on, I got one word RUFUS not to mention escher\'s etchings
Where\'s Hard Luck Harry? iam listining to PB right now and its hard to say what cd is my fvorite. but yesterday i let this kid in my new school listen to pB (cause its the only pb cd i curently own) and he said they sound like any other jam band, WHAT. I couldnt belive me ears. but i believe live shows is where it at.
