I saw "The Peckfast" humpin\' a reindeer last night. What a great night. It\'s been a long time since the venue was that small. It felt like we were back in Callahans.
-
great time..ooops...gotta go....the devil is here to pick up my soul
-
last night was great stuff. yes the Tribal was a treat, but how bout that Sundance!!!! been a while since i heard that or Language of the Gods. actually i almost forgot what song it was when they started. Good to see everyone. hell of a time
-
looks ser as all hell
sundance?
HLH?
Language?
haven\'t noticed those on any setlists for a while....
7 DAYS & COUNTING!!!!!!!!!!.............
-
yes in all seriousness, last night\'s show was absolutely the best i\'ve seen from the boys in a long time! so many big guns came out in the first set.. adrian asked me at setbreak what i wanted to hear, and i couldn\'t even think of anything, cause i already felt like they fufilled me.. though an escher\'s woulda been nice now that my head is clear and i can think about it.. :) but tribal > mommy > tribal is about as good as it gets.
last night was a reminder of what the boys can do in small, packed places.. 2 nights at cafe nine when they come back?? wow. can\'t wait!
-
the 30th and the first are gonna be nuts...cafe 9 isnt gonna know what hit it.....ser show last night.i mean it this time!!!see yaal at living room in a few hours!!!!
-
The Sundance and Language are 2 that went unremembered by me when I got home last night. But now looking back, yes indeed it was a most amazing evening last night.
Out on an empty stomach put me away early. I was zombified by setbreak. The vibe in Porters was great to feel, you just dont get that at Toads, Webster, etc....
I am travelling for business at the end of April, so I will miss night 1 of the Cafe9 demolition, but keep the building standing till May first so I can partake in some ser bringing down of the house....
Safe travels and a great time to all going up to the Living Room. Catch you on the other side.
Marcial, eat your breakfast with a ser smile.....
Thanks again to Porters and everyone there....
Good Luck to Nikki and her Big East Halftime Challenge....
Ahoy!
-
wow, awesome evening. didn\'t help that I was at margaritas at 5:00 for happy hour and kept drinking on an empty stomach till the end of the show. nice to finally meet some more of the forum folks, but don\'t ask me to pick ya out in a line up next time, heh. thumbs up to porter\'s, thumbs down to the prick in the visor who thought he was god at the end of the night, he almost got a staven ass kickin\'.
still need a nap before trecking it to the living room, see some of ya in a few hours. . .
-
hey steevie,i think that mommy whats a funkadelic had your name on it for some reason!!!!hope you enjoyed it...nikki,come on man!!7 shots for the navigator.msg .no pressure!!
-
"think that mommy whats a funkadelic had your name on it for some reason!!!!"
I didn\'t say it then... but it sure felt like it..... I was glowing the whole time....whilst getting down of course....
I watched the second set from downstairs looking up at the band. I could only see Ronnie and Timmy, but man was it unreal to be below and looking up toward the sky while Ronnie was laying it down all night, and Tim was...well Tim....UnFuckingReal....
The boys looked like they were having as much fun, if not more (dare i say), as the audience.... and that is what I like to see...
-
Now that is what I call a hometown show!!!!! Holy christ almighty!!
-
It was a awesome night!!! They were on and the place was ragging. Did anyone feel the floor shaking!!!!
-
oh but tonight............

damn, i wish i didn\'t suck so much and could have been at the show. sundance?! crazy! the vibe must have been amazing.
-
4/30 and 5/1 -- cafe 9??
-
yeah diana....that\'s what josh said last night....i\'m scheduled to work BOTH of those nights so i might have to take out a mortgage on my soul
-
Oh wow I missed a serious show! So many hard hitters in those 2 sets! Damn! Ah well, the southern sun\'s treating me well.
Side note: I have frequented the place where pb\'s playing in Aiken next weekend every night since I got here. Awesome place- absolutely delicious homebrews (especially the red and the porter!) and a really cool environment- really old, all wood, restaurant & bar downstairs, bar & stage upstairs. HOWEVER- the place does ZERO promotion for shows. None. Nada. Not a sign or flyer to be seen. Nobody knows there will even be a band there next Friday. I saw Seth Yak there on Thurs night and there were maybe 30 people there. *sigh* It\'s not looking good as far as numbers go. Also, the sound is poor. I\'m doing my best to spread word of mouth to try and get people out to the show, but there\'s only so much I can do..... I should have brought some flyers down with me. Derrrrr......
-
"so many big guns came out in the first set.. " - looks like it was one hell of a show. Daft question perhaps, but was it taped? Looks like there were some killer segues there. I just hope that when (he says hopefully, not if) the band make it to these shores, they can put on that sort of show for us. It seems to me that they rarely if ever pull out a duff setlist.
I\'m off to see sci in a few weeks in London and am hoping they rock out, rather than do a bit too much of the bluegrass and "cool jazz" stuff as they have been wont to do of late.
Keep these reviews of shows coming - it gives me something to whet the appetite till the shows go up on archive.org.
-
I hate when SCI plays jazz. It\'s terrible. Although they play a decent Birdland. That\'s it though. So What!? Why would they even try?
I think they should stick with the bluegrass myself. Hey, wait, I feel like I\'ve already posted this..... Uh oh, I\'ve run out of fresh material!
-
Coolest version of So What ever? Check out Daevid Allen [of Gong] and the University of Errors for a well ser version - lyrics too!!!
As for sci, I\'ve nothing really against the bluegrass stuff, but just prefer it when Kang breaks out the mando, rather than fiddle or when kyle breaks into full disco biscuits mode during jams.
-
glad to hear you have checked this place out.... if Seth Yac brought in 30 on a weeknight, hopefully we can do better than that on a Saturday...anyway, WE will be there, so that\'s all that really matters... it will be ragin\'...I need to find a hotel for that night... do you know what the closest one is?
-
the show was taped by 3 different tapers, with multiple video camera going too.im sure itll be up soon.byw.marcial and joc,GET A ROOM!!!

Grand scheme was origionaly in set 2 before no glove but was dropped because of time. There was no drum solo because adrian had worked all day and was exhausted after set 1 (wouldnt ever believe a statement like that based on his preformance however).
Grand scheme was in bc Tim and Jordan were feeling sick and didn\'t think they could sing that much. (note how jordan sang parts of no quarter an octave lower than going up and straining his voice). This is also the reason for mommy. Origionally it was to be the whole song, but then they decided just to tease it instead because it would get the croud going better. Alas, this was a great show, and I\'m glad I went even though I was hurtin like crazy for it.
(I know all this because I was shooting video of them while they wrote setlist)
Quote of the night: "jager! can you bum me 3$? my credit card is behind the bar and the jager girl is only taking cash"

Hey Joc, post This southern Crap on its own thread and stop cluttering up the Porters thread with this nonsense! ;-)
This goes for that punk Marcial too....

Joc, I ment nothing preverted.........easy as far as not putting up a wise crack about my stupid post....
You\'re all a bunch of preverts!
-
I never assumed that was what you meant. I didn\'t put up a wisecrack because I didn\'t have the energy. Also, if there is one thing I am not, it\'s a comedian. I couldn\'t make a good wisecrack to save my life. Ah well.
You boys need you get your minds out of the gutter! I\'m very disappointed. ha ha ha
-
Great show, everyone summed up the music already. The most interesting part of the venue is the vortex in front of the stage. What other place has a 12\' X 6\' hole in the floor right in front of the band? Pretty unique. I was riveted for the entire 2nd set, did not move from my spot right next to Ron\'s side. First set I was listening but Jageraro kept distracting me. A great time and a swank place. Until next show!
-
it is a great place but i wonder if they would be better off to set up downstairs....it would sure make movin\' the gear easier
-
i think playing downstairs would be better too.
Adrian: "cant wait to play the two nights at cafe9..close to home, and at least we dont have to load in the second night".
