knowing the webster, 20 opening bands and they all have to get paid plus another 30 in the underground room.
Title: hotels

Any hotels within late-night walking distance of the webster? I don\'t seem to remember there being any, it\'s kind of on the outskirts, if I remember correctly

Def do not want to walk very far from the Webster. There are hotels down by 91, right near the exit for the Webster. Safest thing would be to cab it from/ to the hotey.

Four openers and three at the Underground... but three sets of Breakfast advertised.

The neighborhood must have changed a lot since I grew up around there. The southend of Hartford was nothing compared to the north end off 91 near where the Meadows is now. Thats where all the real crazy shit went down.

The southend was where all the great Italian restaurants were.

The Webster isn\'t in that bad of an area, but I still wouldn\'t want to walk too far from it.  The hotel down by the Airport(name??) has always been fun to rage.  I wonder if they will get to play until 3 like at Toad\'s???  Since it is on a weekend the norm would be 2 but since it is NYE...who knows???

Oh well i will be on my way into a 2nd NYE show as the Webster is getting out...damn this is gonna be CrAzY!

but i get the feeling this show is gonna be a doozie (obviously not a 15-person doozie, but a doozie by webster standards)...

again, i really hope i\'m wrong, and i\'ll be there doing my part..

We did forward The Webster a lot of your comments on the security, and they claim to have made some changes starting with the DSO concert last night.  They were receptive the the feedback however.

They are also running a quarter page print in the Hartford Advocate, and some radio, so it might be better than expected.

<<<<<<<<<< will be dragging p33ps from boston and hopefully stragglers from Philly
although many a doozies I have been witness to, have been musically/spiritually serene, on an occasion such as NYE it is something I couold do without.. we all know the madness that is capable when they play to a packed bar room- think of the possibilities of a packed webster

just gotta go out and promote

The problem IMO isn\'t securit but rather the sound quality. Security can be tough but they are just doing there job most of the time. I have never really been bother by them. It is so tough to hear the band well in the theater, which is probably due to the empty cave that it usually is. Like, Bezerker\'s first post in this thread, we need people and lots of them. We will also be dealing with a lot of people who do not want to be working that night, so it may cause a little hassle but whatever. This show will probably be comparable to the Halloween show in attendance, hope for the better which would be over 500, but it is tough when there are so many bands that are at a high level in attendance and fanbase playing in NYC. Either way, it is sure to be a blast of ye ol\' good time.

I don\'t know if I\'m going or not, because I usually don\'t go to shows on NYE....usually go to a party and drink my face off, but who knows, i might be there...

anyways, can you only drink at the bar area that night??  cause that\'s a big time downer...i don\'t wanna have to stand up there all night and blow 75 bucks on drinks.

Easy fix may be a some percesets and a flasc. :)

I am not feeling this show at all for some reason.

Maybe because it\'s at the lamest venue ever in one of the grossest towns in the country.

I really do not understand why they keep going back there. Even the band admits it sucks.... so why????

only 10 people listed on the calender as attending so I guess I am not alone.
Title: 12-31-05 Webster Theatre
Post by: leith on December 27, 2005, 12:30:05 am
Only 10 people have used the calender feature? I pray that more than that are planning on going.
I do not think everyone understands that the band needs alot of people to fill that place so they can actually showcase their abilities in a nice size room that the band is stressing SOUNDS DECENT WHEN THERE IS PEOPLE THERE!!
I cannot count how many times I have heard since this show was announced, that the Webster sounds decent w/ a filled or near filled room. I hope anyone out on the east coast AND within a reasonable distance will put all past dislike for the venue behind them for one night and pack the place the best we can.

This show can really help the band start 2006 the right way.

I totally want the band to do well and kick off the new year in the right way but I feel like i have to draw the line somewhere and stop going along with all these idiotic managerial decisions.

Everyone who has seen them knows they are the shit but I feel like if they don\'t get on track and start booking shows and tours properly its going to their ultimate downfall and the end of the breakfast.

The fans are not going to continue to bend over backwards and make sacrifices to compinsate for thier retarded buisness decisons forever.

Well I would be a liar if I said that at least a small part of me is not saying Hell Yeah Klout make that stand.
However, I think this show really means alot more to them than anyone has let on. That\'s all.
Whatever you plan on doing if you know someone undecided on NYE plans push them towards the Webster.
Please?

100% behind ya.

I hate the Webster and this will be my last time heading to a breakfast show there but to turn your back on the band that so many claim to be "serheads" for and they are the "best", by you not showing up doesn\'t send a message to the band but to the venue that the breakfast can not bring people in. Toad\'s Place, IMO, has already turned there backs on the band as far as important dates are concerned. So what happens when the band can\'t play the Webster anymore? They have to find a new CT venue and that is hard.

The band already knows the Webster sucks, they have an idea why us fans hate it. The least we can do is show our support for a struggling band that is trying to make it. This show is more important then any before it. It will set the pace for the 2006 year and close of a steamer of year for 2005.

I\'m liking the way this thread is heading. Please everyone that can. Make this show!

Spacey is right in that if they cannot even get a Webster date after this due to not
pulling crowds they are screwed as far as CT. venues go!

Most everyone jumped my shit for thinking this year was not all that great for The Breakfast.
 Guess what?
If they cannot fill The Webster for NYE I will not be the only one w/ a slightly negative view of where the band is at.
AND I don\'t matter at all compared to the people that WILL be thinking along those lines.(Read Promoters, club owners, other bands looking for a band (w/ a draw)to open for them. etc.)

3 sets until 3 a.m.- can\'t ask for much more

Has anyone heard of any of the other bands playing?  Hope some of them draw some people, though a more advantageous scenario would be for a better-known band with a fanbase to precede Breakfast (thus dropping the others).  Even though Max Creek got the headlining spot (and brought a bunch of sketchy/obnoxious fans with them), it was fun being at such a well-attended show.

Well, for my 1st post, I guess I could speak on this topic somewhat... I am in one of the opening bands, The Mark Paradis Band. Since we have no friends, you don\'t have to worry we\'ll bring in too many sketchy folks! We are an original band (one might say jamband, but who uses that term, anyway!) and also play a bunch of Phish, Dead, etc. It is an outgrowth of Liberty Bus, and Mark was also the lead guitarist for The Feed, two other CT jambands a few of you might have heard of.

The way the Webster works is [god, I hate that place, too!] is kind of an extortion ring, you have to sell your own tix (or end up buying them yourself) and this is the basis for your stage/timeslot. We are slated for the Underground stage, no Idea what time ;-) Come say hi, if you are there early. I\'ll be the keyboard player behind the red keyboard rig. (Name is Greg)

Beside that, I could find very little on any of the other openers, except maybe the Cosmo sunshine thingie, they\'re the only ones with a jambase entry and a findable website.

Our website is being rebuilt, (http://www.markparadisband.com) but there are sample tunes on Mark\'s myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/markparadisband
and info in jambase.com

I\'m pshyched (spell much?) to finally see the Breakfast, been DL\'ing some shows. Sounds great. Se\'yall in the ghetto,
Greg

New Years is a time to forgive, forget and move the fuck on. Let\'s drop this shit. All it is is hersay. No physical evidence. Drop this stupid shit.

Fuck that, do you think he\'s gonna move on and forget to steal just because it\'s New Year\'s?  Do you think he gives a fuck at all?  Are we supposed to start trusting this kid just because of the day on the calendar?  Tell you what, you can leave yourself vulnerable if you want and it\'s your stuff that will be stolen.  I\'ll be keeping my hands in my pockets.

You never made a fucking mistake in your life? He\'s 18, he\'s immature. He stole some money from a purse, which guilt by association makes 2 other people on this board just as guilty.

All I\'m saying is your accusing the kid for stealing something because he stole some money once. Show me the evidence besides your assumptions.

Its fucking stupid.

Spacey we all make mistakes. But Spacey stealing from other people isn\'t just another part of growing up!! It\'s not a "phase" that should be accepted!! U and the Antman are obviously tight, so theres no getting thru 2 u!! But hey at least u dont have to worry about getting stolen from.

On a more serious note, what time do folk plan on arriving?

You might want to get there before dark, you know how shady it is.

If you steal from a record store and they catch you, do they let you back in?  No.  If you steal from Breakfast fans at Breakfast shows and at Breakfast parties, do they let you back in?  Well, they shouldn\'t.

Don\'t try to get cute with me.  This kid steals from Breakfast fans.  Over and over again.  This is way more personal than you stealing from a record store.  Stealing from Breakfast fans and stealing from some record store in Connecticut may be one and the same to you, but they\'re not to me.  You think it\'s harmless fun to steal from Breakfast fans just like it was stealing tapes from the record store, you go ahead and think that.  I don\'t.

Spacey, your facts are innaccurate.  Ant-man has been seen stealing from purses at two separate occasions by separate people.  He was made to put the money back at least once.  Nobody who caught him is guilty of anything.  If I try really hard I can understand why you\'re trying to defend him because you want this all to just go away.  However, I cannot for the life of me believe that you just tried to downplay what he does by saying that other people who have done nothing wrong are actually as guilty as he is.

Bottom line, Spacey wants this all to go away, I want people to be warned about this menace.  These are both good things to wish for, just a difference in approach.  Well, now that everyone has seen him and been reminded to keep an eye out, I\'m done.

this is holly burke reporting live from stephengencs\' house. 2.75 hours until this crusty year is over, can\'t wait to spend the rest of it at my favorite venue in the whole wide world, the webster theater. on a sidenote to go along with the theme of this totally KEWL thread, i was arrested for shoplifting back in the day. DON\'T STEAL, IT\'S NOT COOL.
