Thanks Dave.

Ahem... I believe the song is called "Doo Wop (That Thing)".
Sorry...
-
thanks
-

thanks for the heads up.
i don\'t think it liked the quotes in the song title. it shifted TGSOT(2) and everything after it up one, and left the last track (RITFW) nameless. i just fixed it and it should be changed soon.
-
holy fucking space oddity!!!!
jeeeeeeesus kid
more like that, please
Just when I thought that GBFBITS was gonna be "jam of the year" nominee..... Oddity hands down
-
Thanks, dave. Got this now and it does sound pretty darned good. Guess this will be car music for tomorrow and the next.
-
GBFBITS>
Space Oddity>
Rufus
Are U Ser?
-
damn, what a show!
-
wow this is good, thanks dave! it will be in my car all weekend for my travels on the 3 night run.
def like the \'aquatic\' (for a better term) bass effects ron uses in what the funk. similar in sound to what i\'ve heard mike gordon use in songs like weekapaug. its badass.
-
hell yeah thats the best bass FX
Weekapaug, yeah, or like the beginning bass notes to Down With Disease think 1997, sounds like its gettin slapped under water
-
Dobson and Dave, this show sounds great!! Thanks for the sound/ recording.
-
We were comparing it to 96 Phish last night sound wise.
Hope to see another show at Daniel Street soon.
-
24-bit now available. (http://www.archive.org/details/breakfast2007-09-14.483.flac24)
-
Dave, I know you\'ve probably explained this before, but what\'s the difference between the 24 bit, and what I downloaded the other day? And don\'t say that it will sound better because I don\'t think that\'s possible. I\'m almost deaf from cranking this show in my car.

yes, it will sound better.
no, you probably can\'t listen to it in your car.
here (http://24bit.turtleside.com/) is a good (quick) FAQ about 24-bit.
-
such a good recording of this show. thanks again, its something I really enjoy. Haven\'t listened to a Breakfast show recording this much in a long time.
-
alright, so your FAQ answered my CD to car stereo question, but it didn\'t address iPod to home stereo. Would 24 bit sound better thataway?
-
file size would be ridiculous. the only really good way to listen to 24bit is off your comp through a ser stereo system
-
So to download flac files from the archive now, do you have to download each song file individually?
Also what is ogg vorbis?

via web, yes. i don\'t believe they\'ve ever zipped FLACs the way they do with MP3s.
again, your best bet for downloading anything off archive is doing it via FTP. i recommend SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com/).

not quite sure what you\'re asking here.. you wouldn\'t put these on an ipod. the most likely application would be to burn them to a DVD and use your DVD player to listen to them.
-
BAH! I\'ll just stick with what I got!
-
Thanks Dave, any idea how ogg vorbis stacks up to the others quality-wise?

i suppose that, like mp3, it depends on the bitrate they are encoded at. i\'m not sure what bitrate archive.org encodes to.
if it were me, and i really wanted a lossy format to put on my ipod or something, i\'d probably just download the flacs and convert them to ~320kb/s mp3s myself.

This Space Oddity is the best jam of all time by any band ever anywhere.
Good lord help us all if this is what we have in store for us.
-
correcto.
Space Oddity was the fucking heat. Little "none for you higgins" jam in the jam if you listen to it carefully.
-
this show is too good, and should come with a warning label. I don\'t trust myself to operate a motor vehicle during the HB>HLH jams
-

That would be an envelope filter. It\'s a type of automatic wah-wah pedal. I\'m not sure what kind ron has. Tim has the Q-tron:
On a bass it gives you the underwater sound you described. Ron may have also had a chorus and/or phase shifter going as well. On guitar, Tim uses it the same way Garcia did in the late 70\'s era jams.
-
mark, theres a really good walk thru of how to set up and use smartfttp here ~ http://www.thespps.org/smartftp_howto.php plus, if you like john hartford and the like, there\'s a ton of stuff to d/l there. you can both d/l a zipped mp3 file or fttp the whole thing - your choice!
edited to add~ and yeah, this space oddity is phenomenal!
-
How can I get Set 1 on one disc? Sorry for all the questions, thanks Dave and Jason.

use a program that allows for overburning. in terms of overburning, 26 seconds isn\'t much.
-
would it be too much to ask for someone to burn me this show and bring it to REd Square?

I haven\'t had a chance to download the FLAC yet so if you don\'t care about the little pops between the tracks I can bring you a copy tonight.
-
you da man!!!! looks like i\'m gonna be a booze traveler tonite
BAllin!!!!

Really enjoyed this one. Worst thing is, even with Dave\'s mega-quick turnarounds, am going to have to wait a week to get tomorrow\'s show as am going on holiday for a week. Bittersweet eh? No work, but no fresh breakfast. :(
