Half of that show was totally unnecessary. might write more stuff later.

so how\'d you like to be "that guy" who decided to fuck around with my Zoom halfway through Terrapin Station?? (and by lol I mean death to you, stupid ass!)

Cannontrip had his Zoom there... said his missed some of the show but hopefully he\'s got Terrapin and Helter Skelter ... if so, will have this absolutely no doubt about-it GEM of a concert avail asap.

good thing these guys aren\'t serious the worlds not ready for this just quite yet.

On the point of superlatives... might have seen more-"something"-Breakfast-shows than this. But I don\'t think I\'ve seen the guys go on stage and just start kickin straight up butt-cheek in 5th dimensional attack styliez like that really ever.

great show, felt good to be back and see everyone.  Epic first set with amazing jamming and segues.  Rufus was insane.

There was a "king of pain" by The Police tease by tim during synergy, BTW.

the sound/energy and just overall cool jamming they broke out with last night was just unreal. Super Fly was tasty..Rufus was mind blowing, and there was some good ol\' jokin around throughout the show on stage and off. thought i heard \'In my Life\' tease in SFFF

what a long, long, crazy, crazy night!  music and b\'fam are the best!  the only bad thing about breakfast shows is that they have to end; I think we should just buy an island nation somewhere, call it breakfast island.  back to the topic at hand, last night was my first attempt at taping: when I hit stop after the first set, I got a "file write error."  I don\'t know why that happened, could be a couple reasons.  anyways, I\'m checking out what I did get, and I\'ll be sending my half over to tuna so ya\'ll can get down on this face meltage.

great chillin with all, always a GREAT time ;)

exactly. i always say i could listen to this band continuously forever.

i absolutely loved the song selection last night, yet for some reason i just could not connect with some of the jams. probably was just me; i think the full moon was fucking with my balance.

notes: the merge was SUPER fast. also really loved the placement of question mark. the guys had literally been playing balls to the wall the whole time and it was nice to take a breather. (maybe i\'m just getting old, but i like a little versatility in my shows these days in terms of tempo.) love me some e. funk. keep the news tunes coming!

bfam for life just continues to mean more and more as the family expands and evolves. great times on the ride up -- thank you snickerdoodle and co.!! and great times seeing everyone. also, red square had some really heady chics around that were super chill and super nice. all around great time.

as always, looking forward to the next one.

btw, shoeless revolution definitely gets the thumbs up. tight, funky jams; talented musicians; versatile songwriting; good covers (i am the walrus, burning down the house, just keep on using me); nice peeps. they are from minnesota and this is their first national tour. dude that sat in on sax with breakfast is actually the bass player for the band, but he said he actually is more of a sax player than bass player. his tone on the sax was excellent and his note recognition is also impressive -- he and tim were exchanging solo during VT song and he did a great job keeping up.

Show last night was the (.)(.)

I can\'t believe what went down.... epic! Even Helter Skelter went out there into a type-2ish type jam, only to come back somehow. Terrapin did the same. First set sandwiches were yummy. Really amazing night of tunage!

Cannontrip came through in the clutch with the missing segment! Hope to have this up before I pass out tonight.

holy fuck!! that cut & paste greyed out Audacity for nearly 20 minutes while my CPU scaler was maxed out and this laptop made some whirring sounds she never done made before. Amazed that didn\'t crash!

Wow. I am still in a daze after last night\'s epic performance.

Amazing night. The first set serving had some tasty sandwiches. Mmm mmm. I was hoping for a Psygn and a Merge on the drive up and getting both of them in the same set was almost too much. The segues were dizzying and the interplay amongst the band was great. As Tunage kicked in I started to wonder if we were going to get one long set. But, a very welcome setbreak was needed after the insanity that was this first set. Can\'t wait to hear the tapes!

A very productive setbreak found us scurrying back inside to the opening notes of Rufus. So intricate and beautiful. A very happy birthday was wished upon Tim and then they broke into an absolutely killer SPF.

My personal highlight might just be the amazing QMATM. With all the long jams and interludes and improvisations this song is so beautiful and the band backed up Tim with perfection. I thought that maybe I would never get a chance to hear this one live so this put a sweet cap on this torrid night. A great change of pace song, the band should continue to mix in some slower songs like this to temper the frenetic energy that seems to dominate.

Love the bfam and look forward to meeting more folks and putting .info handles with faces. The band\'s music and our love is what keeps this sun ship sailing. Everywhere were smiles and good vibes!

I\'d like to thank Randy Savage for inspiring the evening. Snap into it!

And huge thanks to the band for coming out and playing for us. No place I\'d rather be!

Holy fack! Show was off the hook. I think this rufus topped my favorite recording from the lions den! http://www.archive.org/details/breakfast2007-11-30.483.flac16 Intensity was so extreme! Nice seeing the extended bfast family. Also, best encore jam i have ever experienced.  Adrian can shred those licks. OOHHHH YEAHHHHH! so pumped for the audio. Gots to get me a zune.

Post by: Ren on February 28, 2010, 06:38:04 pm
First set was fuckin\' spectacular.  I haven\'t seen them bring that kind of intensity in a while and it was about time in my opinion.  I was listening to a show from a few years back and was wondering when I last saw Frankly, and it was def not on my mind last night before the show.  Synergy was tremendous.  So was Psygn.  Merge was a monster too and slipped effortlessly back into Synergy.  Echidna\'s into Tunage to close it out?  What\'s left to say?!?

Rufus was Rufus.  Superfly was the highlight of the show for me by far, just tore the shit out of it.  The Vermont song was nice, the sax added a nice touch too.  Terrapin seemed to some out of nowhere which is fine by me.

Overall, absolutely great first set followed by a good second set.

(oooohhhh yeaaahh!)

well, I guess I did get the first set recorded, but I missed the first minute of the opening jam, and a few minutes of Rufus at the beginning of set II.  anyways, I split up the tracks and converted to flac & mp3, but didn\'t do any adjustments to the sound.  Tuna will probably have the full, better sounding version, but here\'s a rough draft for now

great show.  great times.  great everything.  pretty much what everyone else has been saying.  it was enjoyable watching the band look like they were having a little more fun than usual.  loved the synergy and merge, rufus, superfly, and one of the best existential funks.  thanks to those who taped...its a treat to be able to listen to what blew my mind only a day or two ago when i can still remember portions of it.

Nice cannontrip, thanks for all the tunage!!

*edit*

I downloaded this from etree, and when I drop the wavs into my burning program, it says they are not valid music files. I know it says the 24-bit files were dithered down to 16-bit, but the size of the files makes me think that they are still 24-bit. Dunno, just making a guess here. I am going to check out the LMA and see if its the same.

Either way, so great to see shows getting taped and shared. It makes me warm inside. Go Breakfast!!

The files should be in 16 bit PCM wave format (flac), however the wave files that I\'m uploading to LMA are 32 bit float wave files (ultra-quality)... More later, I just missed the mailman!! (taxes)

I think the flac files are 24 or 32 bit or something. When I converted to wav, they said 3270 kbps, and 16 bit wav is 1411 kbps or something like that. I just started messing with Audacity today and I figured out how to sample the wavs down to 16 bit. Had to d/l the flacs, convert to wav, and then import them to Audacity. Then I exported them back out at 16 bit, and was able to burn some discs. I\'m not sure if I had all of the settings right and I haven\'t even listened yet to see how they sound. I hope all this messing around didn\'t degrade things too much. I am really winging it here with this but it seemed to work!

Either way, I don\'t mind doing any extra work if it means hearing the shows. I like burning discs to take on the road, give to people, etc. I love you tapers! Tuna and cannontrip, the Zoomers. You guys are keeping the dream alive.

I think the problem is that the flac files are 96kHz, instead of the normal 44.1kHz.  it plays alright in winamp, haven\'t tried it in other players.  check out the wav files on LMA if you\'re using Audacity, HQ for editing and mixing or archiving.

I\'ll redo the flac files to be 44.1kHz 16 bit, cd-burnable files as soon as I figure out how to reduce sampling rate

thanks cannontrip, you\'re the man. I am probably one of the few that still likes to make discs. I tried making the files 16 bit but there is a small bit of silence at the end of the first few tracks and I am trying to get rid of it. Yesterday was my first attempt at ever using Audacity, so many many things to learn.

I\'m interested to see if you find the same thing when you try to resample the files.

But of course, supreme thanks taper crew!

Anyone know of a good resampling program?  Or do either vegas pro 9.0 or cubase le 4 have resampling capabilities?  I found some freeware that is linux-only (have ubuntu, but don\'t know my way around), and I tried wav-mp3.com\'s program - the trial version only converts 70% of each file, total bs.  Anyways, what software is recommended for resampling?  Free or otherwise (via piratebay ;)).

I didn\'t get a chance to work on converting the files yesterday. I will try for today.

All right, got most of the first set done. Resampled or dithered or something down to 16 bit using audacity, then ran them through CDWave to trim the little silent pieces and voila!! Love learning new stuff on the fly.

The Zoom does a pretty nice job. Seems like if you are positioned in a good spot this little guy does well. I am debating between the Zoom, the Tascam, and the Sony.

Great great show. We are always treated well in capital city. The first set sandwiches are delicious!! Sick keys work in Synergy!

Great job cannontrip and tuna!

****
Rest of the show is done! Going to give it a test run in the car later on. Went a little quicker now that I have a better idea of what I\'m doing.

Should I put this on the archive? Would I be tainting the gene pool if I flac\'d the wavs I created? I did not mess with the sound itself, other than reducing the bit rate from 24 to 16. I trimmed off the silent portions and that is all.

If I shouldn\'t put this up, and anyone is interested in having cdrs, then let me know. I am still stuck in the stoned age. :)

by all means put it up on LMA, and etree if ya want.  I still haven\'t figured out what program to use for resampling.  frofler, I don\'t know much about the tascam or sony, but if you\'re interested in making/editing music, the zoom has a "monitor" mode that allows many cool effects.  i use this more than the taping function!  check ebay for the cheap deals ;)

frolfer.... tracks 2-6 seem to be missing from the archive\'s VBR-ZIP (and possibly in other places)... not sure what happened there

Hmmm, there have been funky things going on with the LMA lately, but I did not upload this show, cannontrip did. Maybe he can try to re-derive his files. I did work on some 16 bit files and I will try to upload them.

sums up my position on the issue (though I\'m assuming it\'s related to the 96kHz sampling rate, either that or Archive ghosts [built over an internet graveyard?]).  if either of ya, or anyone for that matter, can fix this, please do.  Feel free to do what you see fit to make this show fit for a proper download.
If there\'s one thing I learned from my first taping, it\'s that this shit requires a team effort.  Plenty of help around .info, let\'s utilize it and get things moving!  Many parts of the world are currently in need of a good Breakfast tour...

For what its worth and for those who care, I did edit and resample this for cd consumption. I flac\'d it and everything checks out. I am just having problems with the LMA. I don\'t think it likes me anymore! I will let y\'all know when everything goes through.

I was driving today and had a memory from this show of Adrian using the brushes for QMATM. Veddy cool.
