Title: College Football
Post by: origen on October 10, 2006, 03:38:59 pm
So there\'s no college football thread?  You people really are a bunch of damn yankees.  I guess it\'s hard to get exited when the only teams up there are Rutgers, Syracuse, and BC.  Anyway, Ohio State vs. Michigan might be the real national championship.  Also watch out for Georgia Tech - if they can beat Clemson they have a straight shot to the ACC championship game.  And what happened to Auburn?  I know Marcial\'s bumming about that.  Florida is now the dominant team in the SEC.  And don\'t even mention the words Southern Cal - they haven\'t played anyone.  Ohio State would crush them.

I really hate this time of year because of college football. The majority of my job revolves around this garbage excuse for a sport for 5 months of hellish over time. Then just when it\'s ending, bam! college basketball and the finals. Before that\'s over, we\'re back into spring training for MLB and it just keeps going and going and...

dear god, I really hate sports. :duck:

 I don\'t know much about sports, either, paul... I think Yale is playing Lehigh this weekend - though, i don\'t really even know what sport they\'re playing (football? soccer? lacrosse?)

There\'s more at stake in college football - every game is potentially a national championship game.

I\'m not sure what the fuck happened to my beloved AU Tigers this past weekend... all I can hope for iss that we were looking ahead & getting prepared for Florida & just let the Razorbacks sneak up on us.  Hopefully we can beat Florida on Saturday and ruin their season as well.  The season is young, and my suspicion is that the SEC will beat itself up as usual before it is all over.

I bet that by the end of the season, there will be several teams with 1 loss competing for the #2 position.

And you Yankee haters are clueless... College Football is the best sport ever created.

Hell yeah.  It\'s far superior to the NFL.  These NFL games early in the season are completely meaningless.  You can go 0-2 and still make the playoffs.  Go 0-2 in college football and the season\'s over.

UCONN SUSPENDS FIVE PLAYERS Five players were dismissed by Connecticut Coach Randy Edsall yesterday for violating team rules. The university would not elaborate on the violations.

The players are the sophomore wide receiver Nollis Dewar, the freshman wide receiver Todd Dorcelus, the junior safety Ricky McCollum, the junior defensive end Harold Stanback and the freshman linebacker Carl Teague. (AP)

Hell yeah!  I only lived in Nebraska for 3 years, but once you\'ve been you are a fan for life.

with usc losing and arkansas just taking the lead 21-17 over florida on a fumble recovery for TD midway through the 3rd, it looks like michigan vs. ohio st. rematch is in order.

I was there in the 80\'s.  I was in high school in CT in the \'90\'s, but I was of course rocking #15 on my red hs football jersey in honor of Tommie Frazier.  (not that anyone cared but me)

Although UF is good for the SEC, I think Michigan got robbed.

Wow Boise St. just upset OK w/ one of the slickest trick plays I have ever seen! Wow what a game @ the end.
Oh and USC just plain stomped Michigan in the second half of the Rose Bowl. So sweet!

With all due respect to last year\'s Texas/USC shootout, Boise St./Oklahoma was probably the best football game I ever watched.

Indeed. Last night\'s game was an all-time classic, from Oklahoma\'s original comeback, to the hook-and-ladder on Boise State\'s conversion on 4th-and-18, to the two-point conversion in the great overtime finish. It\'s just too bad that a team like the Broncos, who went undefeated, never got a chance to be in the national title picture.

Just a web photo I really liked.  Closest I ever came to owning a python was an old roomate left his with me so long I started to consider it mine.  I was bummed when he finally came back for it.

As for college football NU gave the damn Cotton Bowl away.  Real ugly loss.
