Plus the rukkus you guys caused @ 10klks and MD6 last year should help with this year\'s momentum..

The only way I would ever go back to this show is if The Breakfast play, I fly in to TN, have an RV and have VIP tickets.
The venue is SOOOOO huge walking back and forth from camping depending on where they put you can be insane. The HEAT is lik enothing you have ever expeienced. and the folks that run the venue are dicks, at least they were when we went.
A 8 to 9 hour wait to get in if your lucky. It just not worth it to me when you can do 3 or 4 smaller festivals for the price of the ticket. I guess if your in to the MEGA fest its worht it but just not for this guy

line up looks nice this year, but i honestly don\'t know if i could ever go back to bonnaroo. i think the breakfast needs to play a festival like this and needs to get on the phone with it. the exposure would be so helpful for the band. i remember after seeing umphrey\'s mcgee there in 2004 they seemed to blow up.

The Umphreys explosion was already in full effect by then, due to their huge set at Bonnaroo \'02. That\'s the one that did it. Before that show, we used to talk about Umphrey\'s and The Breakfast as peers!

For most bands you beg and then you hope. For the small handful of huge acts they call you.

This theory is totally untrue and I can smell the sour grapes from 200 miles away. Doozies get you "more of a one on one" also. Doesn\'t do much to help the band though. Ask any band who ever played Bonnaroo if they think their show was ineffective because people couldn\'t remember them afterwards. Not one would give this thought any merit at all. Everyone fan there takes 2-8 new bands home with them to talk about. Sure they might forget a couple but this is the best showcase you can get.

Wow that lineup actually looks pretty good. I didn\'t even go to any festivals last summer because all of the lineups looked pretty much the same to me (keller keller keller...) but this one looks decent. However, I think and the only way I would go would be if the Breakfast were to play. I went the second year and it was so filthy and disgusting by the time we left that I was depressed the whole way home. I did have a good time though, and the heat didn\'t bother me much. I am good at hydrating...
Plus, it was fucking humungoid the year I went, and it has really blown up since then so I can only imagine how ginormous it will be this year. Too much humanity in one spot for me. The walking didn\'t bother me at all.... it was the people that did. And, of course, the portapotties.

Unless they have changed the way they do things there are no "side" stages.
They have the main stage, 2nd stage and then they have like 5 "sheds". the Sheds are bigger then any venue the bfast has played. they fit several thousand people each and are covered. they are a nice escape from the elements and are hug. The very small tents are usually for stand up comics and things like thta

i went in 2002, i will never go back. Its not the music, its moreso that the majority of people who were there, werent there for the music. Yea, the walk, the heat, the SHIT, it all gets to you, but it was fun and an experience, eventhough many factors seem to work against that.

What can we do? Is there anyone who has connections? If the fanbase can work together, the problem could be solved. Let\'s inundate Bonnaroo with emails, phone calls, etc. We\'ve filled plenty of venues, and supported TB in many other ways. We could help instead of bitching about something we can\'t control.

Agreed, he should leave the whining to professionals like you.
Roo would be great exposure for the band. They would definitely be a band that people would remember from the fest. A lot of people around the country have heard buzz about the band and would be curious and eager to see them in such a setting.

I for 1 would like memebrs of the band to post here more than they do. I think it adds to the community feeling of it all.
Having said that why should he feel that he needs to censor himself. He has as much right as anyone to bitch moan, tell jokes etc. This site revolves around his Job as a member of the band we all love.
I think a fan calling a band member out is in poor taste. You might not have thought his post was positive but thats his call. Its his his band too and he can do or say whatever the hell he wants.

although this is a fansite, its great when band members get actively involved in fan discussions, maybe if more bands did that they would have a better relationship with their fans.
i dont really like big festivals that much, too many people, a few smaller festivials would be nice. bonnaroo would be great exposure for the band. they would be the only reason for me to travel there in my opinion
with that being said, if crescendo has contacts with the roo ppl, and already have one of their artists already on the initial lineup, they I would calmy explain to managment that this is unaccecptable and something needs to change. dont get me wrong i have seen the motet and they are a good jazz band, but if this is allegedlly the most influential jamband related festival of hte year, then this is where the breakfast should be and if they are not added sometime from here to June its a damn shame. its too bad. maybe some ppl having a prob w/ the band?

I would love it if the band members posted more also but as for poor taste I think starting a thread abt being dissed is in poor taste and somewhat of a poor loser also.
So that being said I think if Jordan had just thought about his thread it should have been a call to us fans to write in and email etc. All the ideas a fan like Robyn mentioned. Now that I would have got behind and championed.

further, i personally do NOT think it\'s a good idea for band members to post here, and i know 3 other people who feel the same way. and when you\'re the ONLY band member posting, you\'re representing the entire band, even though your posts are personal. anyone who goes to a show can see that the band contains 4 nice guys, who are not afraid to interact with their fans. we don\'t need a message board for that. as a matter of fact, i think it would be just plain weird for the band to be regular posters here. much in the same way that the fans should stay out of the band\'s "business", i think there\'s several things that go on amongst fans (here) that the band shouldn\'t be getting involved with.

You huys must realize that Leith\'s post was only made out of a desire to see the band excel. Although his posts may be a bit abrasive sometimes, they are ALWAYS made with the welfare of the band in mind. Also, his point was pretty practical- the band should seem professional if they are to be taken seriously. I think everyone jumping on him with this mob mentality is silly, and makes the CT fans seem exclusive, and, well, kind of mean. Some level-headedness would serve us all well- Leith, chill. Everyone else- try practicing some tolerance.

We\'ve partied together and had good times (oh god I just want to go to sleep good times) These things just get out of hand. I\'m not absolving myslef here but I just don\'t understand with the way you com e across sometimes, yeah we do as Cobb said try to preach the love and understanding, but you have been coming out with more and more negative comments lately. If you had posted first saying (like Robyn mentioned) other things we could do and then ended it with "hey should band members be posting on here" things might have gone over differently, but you attacked him right off the bat, we\'re all like instinctual animals on here we\' went into the defensive

Allright Leith, I\'ll give you the benefit of the doubt. Other people here that apparently know you a bit better than I do just from reading your posts seem to think you are well intentioned in your posts -- so I\'ll take their word for it.
For real though, I don\'t think it matters much one way or the other if band members post here. Personally I think its cool and shows their in touch with their fans. As far as taking them seriously, all they need to do is pick up their instruments.

I don\'t know why Chris. I used to be alot better @ keeping positive but this band and the tendency of their fans to play the victim role in the jamband scene is really getting to me.
Yeah they may get passed over for stuff but I see that as just more ammo to use on the road. Get out and play and maybe fest promoters/talent buyers will see/hear the talent.
So I saw a post that to me was crybaby shit by a band member and in the ballbusting sarcastic way east coasters tend to call each other out I tried to fit that mold. I failed.
So hopefully after they own faces in March across the country, we will see a difference in their demeanor and mine.
oh and btw Kudos to Dave for some ser moderation in his post.

All I keep thinking about is how Radiohead is going to flip some people out. I do not think the wooks and "kidz" are even ready for a band as intense as Radiohead. I hope Radiohead gets into the spirit of Bonnaroo and jams the hell out of some of their songs and sends a few folk to the looney bin!

Phil is not Trash and neither are his friends, I can see where you are coming from though.
Superfly has been quoted on Billboard.com that they do not want to alienate their jamfan core and roots and that more acts are to be announced.
How many jambands can they book to make a dent in this years fest? Not enough.
That said any jamband fan that does go will want to see a band like The Breakfast I would think.

that\'s how i\'ve always viewed bonnaroo, a fusion of the "jamband" (whatever that even means anymore) with "pop/jam" sounding type music (DMB, OAR, other 3 letter acronyms, etc... ;) ) .... i was considering going in 2002, then again in 2003, but i remember looking at the actual music schedule, and seeing lots of bands i wanted to check out overlapping (ie, Ween on 1 stage, at the same time as Les Claypool on another)... not worth it to me. with all those bands, i want to be sure i\'m gonna see them all (at least most of them)... plus, i like to chill and relax at festivals, not sit by my watch and a schedule, runnin around the entire weekend.....

Does Bonnaroo HAVE to be all jambands? There is a lot of good music out there that is not in the jamband genre (like, MOST of the good music out there...)
We all love bands that jam, but I actually kind of like that there is a festival whose lineup is a little different from the others, because come on, it gets redundant as hell.
As far as pop goes, I think most of the pop bands they chose are decent ones.

Galactic
Trey (you want to talk about bringing in a crowd of idiots...)

leith your posts come across this way to a lot of people, so you might just want to look at your part in it for a minute. i mean all we can really control is our own part in something, so we might as well put our focus there rather than on a whole bunch of things we have absolutely no control over.

To get this thread back on track - can\'t believe how much crap I have had to wade through to get to the end of the thread - I agree with those both inside and outside the band who would like to see the band playing these big festivals. It would bring excellent exposure and hopefuly useful commercial returns from the hoped for/deserved slot on a major tour (though who\'d be brave enough to let them open, I don\'t know).
This year\'s line-up is however, something of a mystery to me - I, like someone else in this thread (can\'t remember who - it was back that many pages!) always saw the festival as a chance for jambands to have their own festival unpolluted by chart shit. Seems like Bonnaroo has gone the way of both Glastonbury and Reading here - excellent Rock festivals which went mainstream, got too big and lost their special identity. Yes, they keep a notional number of decent bands, but bit by bit, these get sidelined. Gotta agree with marcial - weakest line-up so far - and even the breakfast, panic and the biscuits couldn\'t save this one.
Which brings me to this:

lol How did I know you would dog Radiohead? I have said before that live they need alot of work. That was 2 years ago. The talent is there for sure but I do not think they know how to jam as we are used to. Make great albums but to headline a Jam fest? We\'ll see, well @ least hear it afterwards.
