just got the email... ugh. why valentines day night??!
seeing how the breakfast havent announced anything yet, that would be a sweet double bill if they jumped on together for some northeast dates...
-
no shit...
-
someone told this to me last night, who was it?
-
Nothing wrong with Valentine\'s day night show. If your girl doesn\'t want to see Umphrey\'s, dump the ho.
-
I\'m doing most of the New England run, job or not... SO FUCKING PUMPED!!
-
i\'ll be givin away tix for this show
-
i will be at toads for this, keep the quality shows coming, first wu now uph, lets get moe. and onyx next
-
I plan on attending this show, mostly because i want to see if these guys\' live performances are as hot as everyone says. anyone else planning on making this show ?
-
where????
-
didn\'t we already discuss this here (http://www.thebreakfast.info/forum/showthread.php?t=5887&highlight=valentines)?
-
I\'m doing some promo stuff for the band on this trip to Toads. I plan on coming down right after work. I want to check out the band and see if they are as legit as everyone claims. My biggest problem with the band is the voice that sings primarily. It just doesn\'t ring in my ears right.

Two please, thanks

after looking all through tfa there was no thread for this show. why it\'s in a breakfast category i have no idea

mandler, hook me up!
-
i\'ll be hitting up the Providence show, with a 50 spindle of Breakfast CD\'s and some hand bills for the next closest show. there are so many promo opportunities coming up around here, from Keller to Umph to Phil and Assembly of Dust. I think there are couple more including TLG
-
shit I post without thinking!! I meant I want some tooooooooooo!
-
If you can get free tickets I guess it could be a fun night out. As for me, I will NEVER pay again to see UM. Just not worth my $$. If they are part of a festie I may check out a song or 2 but that would be abt it.
-
East Coast winter Um ter.... fucking CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS RUN!!!!! Toads is going to be on fucking fire..
-
I would like to give them another show as I have yet to be blown away.
-
Less people blown away=more dancing room for me :)
-
Actually, the more people that blow away, the more room you would have to dance. So hope for hurricane force winds.
-

That\'s what you get @ an Umphrey\'s show the blast from all the wankery on stage=hurricane force winds like after a really bad burrito.
-
Yeah, but at least it isn\'t the overtly homoerotic sensation you get from TLG shows, lord knows I\'ve never seen so many d00ds reanacting scenes from Brokeback Mtn then at a TLG show...

LMFAO Man it took you long enough. How is that hook in your craw?
I actually LOVE the last DVD UM put out. I got the show(12/31/04) as soon as it went up and once I got the DVD I was sooo stoked. If they could produce the kind of energy and seemless flow that they did that night when I see them I would be as enamored as alot of folk. Thing is, they don\'t.

Leith I was eating lunch upstairs. It took me 2 seconds to write that response. The boys do wank, but I would rather have them wanking on me instead of Bisco or moe. Brendan\'s voice is very, very thin, but I\'m there for the music, not the vocals (plus Jake\'s soul shouts make up for it). Plus, Um covered Crimson\'s "Red", which forced me to love them for at least another year. If the wanking continues I may have to go on Opeth tour to revitalize my ear holes....
-
Jake\'s soul shouts lol nice term. If it is what I think you are referring to then those I dig. They do pull off great covers for sure.
-
never seen umphs before, def. considering checking this guys out just to seee what all the hype is about as well.
yo gdradio, any more freebies left, if so Id like one as well....
-
Get in line Rujah, my ass is unemployed, I need as many free Um tix as possible for this ter. Luckily my brahs and brahettes from the Bort will be hooking me up with kynd veggie wraps and dank cold oaty bombs.
-
i\'ll be there maybe. i\'m not a huge UM fan in any stretch of the imagination, but i\'ve never seen em sooo maybe. wasn\'t there talk of a drums n\' guitar opener? make it happen gus! i wouldn\'t dream of missing drums n\' guitar open for UM.
-
my ass is unemployed,
and whose fault is that???
-
I remember I was unemployed all summer and I never missed a show and hit up just about every TT show.
I got by with a lot of help from my friends.
-
I guess it is my fauilt because I dont have rich parents with lots of connections...... Damn, maybe in my next life I\'ll be luckier.
-
It is your fault. You should have a job or some kind of income. No one else to blame but yourself.
I don\'t have rich parents, just good friends who were willing to help a brother out in the time of need.
-
It\'s my fault that I had to move home to CT, this I\'ll admit. But it\'s not my fault the job market is so shitty down here for Social Services etc. It just sucks I have to go to grad school. I\'d rather start making money NOW instead of having to wait at least another 7 years (PhD) before I can start "thinking" about a liveable income.

Those are the choices we make and I can totally understand your frustration in the current job market. It took me 6 months to find a suitable job. Good luck especially with your future in school. It will all be worth it once you are done and have a decent job.
-
Hopefully I\'ll be working as a sub in Orange next week. Should give me enough money for Um ter.
-
was just talking to one of my buddies online, hes supposed to interview the band on monday, ask me if I had any questions he should ask... only one I could think of.....
how about a little northeastern run with The Breakfast?
-
That\'s 2 really coherent posts in a row in this thread Rujah. I think you should get free tix just for that.
Now if your boy does ask that question you should be 1st in line for them for sure. As a matter of fact have your boy hook you up if he\'s interviewing them he most likely can get tix.
-
yeah, i\'ll have to ask him, suprising b/c i have been drinking a little tonite
-
for everyone without Valentine\'s Plans!
-
you know, i want to go.. i really do.. i wanna see what all the fuss is about.. but if you asked me right now, gun to my head, if i\'ll be there tomorrow night, i gotta say.... no.
-
I\'d love to but I\'m a working man, middle of the week show are hard
except Richter\'s I arranged my schedule so Thurs is my late day!
-
i\'ll also add that while i\'m sure the RAQ sit-ins were great, this is the show that NEEDS to have those sit-ins, and i\'m not sure if that\'s planned or not..
-

Totally. Could really help the upcoming tour. Fingers crossed.
-
^let\'s find that out
-
I\'ll be there after work. Got a spot on the guest list that I should probably use.
I won\'t be there until 9pm.
Anyone else going?
-
ill be there
-
Maybe so, maybe not
-
I talked to Tim about sitting in. He\'s going to show up at Toads during soundcheck. He said he felt awkward about showing up... so who the hell knows. FUCKING MASSIVE OWNAGE TOMMOROW.....................
-
is waht and timmy are going i may have to show up!
-
rich did you go to daniel st?
-
drums and guitar opener would probably blow the minds of too many mcgeeks.... but ill be there either way to check em out, never seen em live and sure got nothin better to do
-
I dont think so peaches......
-
Should be there.
-
I might be getting backstage passes to NYC too... God I\'m fucking pumped!!!
-
i\'ll be at toads tomorrow for this shindig
-
you know, i want to go.. i really do.. i wanna see what all the fuss is about..
It\'s legit. They\'re every bit as good as The Breakfast, better in some aspects. I wish The Breakfast were in their shoes right now, but at least I can sleep well knowing that the hottest jamband in the land deserves their props.
-
I think Mad Mahoney and I will be showing up after Valentine\'s Day dinner plans. Prob not though, have tix for Phil on Sunday and then it is Bisco Inferno for about a month.
-
defintitly cant wait to see what the fuss is all about. i really want to be able to give my own opinon on UM instead of other people\'s
-

does this mean you\'ll be there?
I haven\'t decided if it is better to jam straight from work or just come home, change and head down to New Haven.
Definitely can\'t wait to see some live umphs.
-
it will be DOUBLE nice if they are cool with a little TimmyP visit
hopefully he\'ll know at soundcheck and call someone so it can be posted (aka promoted)

i will absolutely be there. any way i can get some flyers to give while i\'m at the show ??
-
You can print these, Danbury Flyers (http://www.blueberrydreams.com/breakfast_flyer.pdf)
Cut them and pass them out.
I think I will just leave from work and find ya down there.
-
^^^ what time you think you\'ll be around ??
printing out 400 flyers as we speak. thats\' a great idea right there !!

I\'m out of work at 9pm. I will be at Toad\'s by 9:30pm. About the time they go on.
-
treychica, you want to get me backstage tonight? i didn\'t end up going to daniel street, though i can\'t seem to remember why....
-
wisah I could be there with you guys
Pimp the shit outta that Danbury show!
-
^^^ i\'m certainly going to do my best. i think a tpalms sit in would be the biggest and most effective way to pimp it out
-
any one have any free tickets, guest list spot?
-

Completely.
I don\'t know TPalms gameplan but I\'m sure its got to be tough. Good luck. Hopefully it all works out.

yeah but you\'re radical...
-
you think you\'re so radical! but you\'re not so radical
-
Rich I believe he said that he *might* have backstage passes for the NYC show, I don\'t think he said anything about tonight.
Also, not all people work around a computer...
-
yeah i know, but i bet it\'s harder to get back there at the Nokia than walking to the bathroom/backstage @ toads
-
Hey rich... Yeah today was 2nd grade chaos.. Valentines Day party galore. I cant do anything about Toads. I actually bought my ticket for this one. NYC is looking good though. Prayin for some access and a free ticket!!
Anyways, does anyone want some shows.. I\'m in an GREAT mood because of tonight. Tell me within the next hour so I can burn them.....
-
burn me a good umph show! do you think this show will sellout?
-
i am getting more and more excited about this show as the minutes pass. really can\'t wait
-
Rich you got it..... I\'ll be wearing a Chicago Cubs hat, an Um hoodie and a King Crimson shirt... Just grab me or something.
-
i will be wearing a guiness hat and who knows what else, prolly a fishman for governor hoodie
-
I don\'t have any um. If you want to make some to introduce for me I\'d love it. I\'ll be in the rush man/star tour 78\' shirt.
crimson = :thumbsup:
-
anyone going to new haven from orange/milford?
-
I\'ll be in the rush man/star tour 78\' shirt.
BAD - ASS! ! !! !!
-
damn right! the signals tour shirt is a baseball 3/4 sleeve and is not season appropriate, so you have to go with the classics.
-
radicalrich im from milford...
Paul you got it...
-
anyone got extra tickets?
-
i dont think its sold out man....
-
Almost time to ring the bell and end the day. 1 1/2 hours until the Umph. Can\'t wait to see what this band brings and is capable of.
Any last minute .infoers making the show tonight?
-
Have fun tonight everyone!
-
Can\'t wait!
Out in 11 minutes and then it is off to New Haven to hopefully find someone I know so I don\'t have to spend the evening hanging by myself.

dammit. totally forgot about this show, and no internet for a few days= me spending too much money on dinner for a Hallmark holiday and didnt talk to anyone. how was it? Ill be seeing them in Nashville in a few days so itll be only 2 time so im pissed i cant compare it to the toads show
-
FUcking horrible crowd, sans the few nice folks I met around me towards the front on the 21+ side. boring show, they fiddled and the song selection was too run of the mill... Saw some kid flip out, had two meatheads screaming "watch that bassist fucking play" right in my ear.... I cant believe UM let me down... Radicalrich, I looked all over for you, I just gave Spacey the freebie to give to you if he saw you.
To those who missed this..... I envy you.
-
Run of the mill huh? Wow on the Bort they are all stoked seeing as UM is on a run of shows w/ no covers (until tonite) and no repeats
-
treyC i didnt think i would have a good time tonight, but i thought it raged!
-

So what was your real problem, the band or typical New Haven goons? "Umphreys fo life snucka..."
-
Run of the mill huh? Wow on the Bort they are all stoked seeing as UM is on a run of shows w/ no covers (until tonite) and no repeats
song selection doesn\'t make a show great, its how they play the selected songs.
-
I\'m gonna check them out in Providence tonight, anyone heading to the show from up here. i should prolly hand out some hand bills. for what tho, Iron Horse....Middle East in a couple months.....
-
what a surprise treychica didn\'t like something ;)
-
i for one had a great time, wish that i had seen treychica so i could have raged some Umph on the way home!
-
DerickW- Hand out bills for any show. Bezerker almost got into a fight last night handing out bills for the Danbury show because some umph-ass is still pissed off at TPalms for something that happened over 4 years ago.
While the band can definitely play, the fanbase sucks ass and reminds me of the DMB.
-
i can\'t wait.........

Yeah ok. Just because you are used to tired moe. setlists.
I think it\'s is pretty neat that UM is doing something like this.
Just surprised Joe thought it was run of the mill and that he was disappointed.
He loves UM so much.
-

I was pondering the idea last night, but have decided to be a good student and attend my class. Also helping the decision is the whopping $2.72 in my checking account and $1.37 in my pocket.
-
"While the band can definitely play, the fanbase sucks ass and reminds me of the DMB."
i agree
i was really wanting a "Tonight we\'re gunna rock it" or "Big Bottom" but oh well

the checks in the mail man!

I thought it was a pretty sick show, Mulchess odyessy>immigrant song with a miss tinkle\'s encore was off the hook. as far as it being a horrible crowd, you just gota make your way to the front then the crowd doesnt matter. In the last 10 sets theyve played they havent repeated a song once and havent played a full cover either, defintly impressive. Cheney\'s gota gun was pretty funny; i snaged the lyrics they brought out for it:
Cheney\'s gotta gun (x2)
The Quail are on the run
He shot fuckin Winington
What did our V.P. do?
Careful He\'ll shoot at you
When Dick Cheney was arrested
They found him in a limosine!
Man he had it comin
Now Dick Cheney\'s gotta gun
We ain\'t never gunna be the same
-
saw them play big bottom as the closer w/ kang at big summer classic very cool! came out in sumo suits
-

i\'ll agree its a cool idea, i was just bustin\' chops. i wasn\'t at the show, so i can\'t comment. i\'ll tell ya how i feel after tonight\'s show though. moe.\'s recent setlists have been far from tired. they\'ve managed to bust out originals i haven\'t heard in my first 80+ shows(Again and Again), others I haven\'t seen since \'02(Lazarus), and I wouldn\'t have gone to as many as 8 shows this tour if it were \'tired\' so to speak.
-
People just like concentrating on the negative things I say on this board, seldom does anyone comment on any of the positive thing, but that\'s expected, so what the hell.....(Irony police)
Wolfman>Music and New Haven goons... HOWEVER I have been to a gazillion shows in New Haven and I think only once at a few later DBB shows, I have ever encountered such belligerent, ignorant ass holes. I cannot understand how Umphrey\'s appeals to them. The fanbase is taking a horrible turn for the worse and personally I\'d rather not be around people who scream during a piano solo or people who go nuts for the same silly onstage guitar antics.....
Each song was barely improvised and the ones that were remained very lackluster sans Plunger>Jimmy Stewart. It was just a piss poor evening of music.
Bezerker, what was the UM kid so pissed about?
-
^^really man I was just fuckin with you

Yeah I know moe. is on fire. I just saw more moe. last yr than any other band and seemed to hear alot of the same stuff. but I\'m a newb moe.ron so what do I know?
-
the dude started talkin shit about the band, and then lots of shit about timmy p. i was just passin out flyers and he was being a drunk asshole. sayin he\'s the biggest stuck up prick because 3 or 4 years ago he tried to sell him buds but tim didnt want any. whats the fuckin deal ?? He got me all riled up, so i simply told him that the breakfast blow umphrey\'s out of the water and to go fuck himself. he decided to come back and get a little more aggressive by slapping my flyers out of my hand onto the ground and shoving me full force with both hands. angry umphrey\'s fans = scumbags. and by the way, timmy could destroy both those guitarists on stage last night, NO DOUBT
-
It\'s ok Me! I\'ll be honest, Daniel St satisfied me a BILLION times more than this show. I mean seeing The Breakfast was cavier and UM last night was Big Mac city.....
-
duh! I def dig UM but they\'ll never be TB
-
The way they played last night Tim could\'ve done basic scale exercises and still have blown them out of the water. Considering the core UM fanbase is from the Midwest, I would say last night was an inaccurate representation to say the least. Sorry you had that experience Bezerker.
Last night was another prime example of why I need to move to the Left Coast.... I just cant take this East Coast drunken, reckless, agressive East Coast white suburban male mentality anymore.
-
really..... that\'s some bullshit. was anybody with you. I\'ll see what it\'s like tonight.
-
Last night was another prime example of why I need to move to the Left Coast.... I just cant take this East Coast drunken, reckless, agressive East Coast white suburban male mentality anymore.
see, thats why i can\'t leave the norteast. i don\'t want no laid back west coast vibes, i need some assholes around to shit on.
-
Umphreys is definitely a great show. Was last night there best? I hardly doubt so, if anything it was average. When I arrived I was taken back by the tour bus and big rig to haul around there equipment. Inside they had there own board. My point here is Umphreys has a face like no other. They have a great big show and IMO they have to live up to that hype, although I don\'t believe they have earned it completely. I feel that are not out there to prove themselves but rather we are Umphrey\'s McGee. That is a great attitude to have in this scene it is what makes people come out and thirst.
They have great control over there jams and they really do make some good grooves and beats. I still can not stand Brandon\'s singing. He IMHO kills all the energy and juice flowing in a song when he opens his mouth. The people definitely fall for all of this as there wasn\'t one head not bobbing. Too many cliques and not enough of open people. People in there own spun out worlds.
I felt like Umphreys was completely unoriginal, I felt that I have heard this all before. That doesn\'t take away what they are capable of. Umphreys to much of my surprise is something I just don\'t like.
I have a lot more to say about my Umphreys experience last night but since I am at work I will spare you all.
-
Several years ago when I saw UM on a few occasions including CBC and Woodbury, they blew me away. I thought they were one of the few bands in existence that could give The Breakfast a run for the money. That all changed when I saw UM last fall at Webster. The show was very mundane, no energy, just guys going through the motions, and in some ways, just showing off-look at these chops, wow. I also paid $15 for a live 3 CD show that had been recorded a few nights earlier in Burlington. Despite guest appearances by Seth Yac and Jen Hartswick, that show was again very very boring. Their recent studio album, Anchor Drops is also very weak, IMO.
I think UM thinks a great deal of themselves, and doesn\'t feel the need to play with passion anymore. The Breakfast on the other hand continues to raise the bar again and again. So while several years ago I considered them as equals, the Breakfast now leaves UM in the dust.

Mark Peters, ladies and gentlemen!!!! :applause:
-
i was also at that show at CBC...my first taste of UM, and that show was awesome, but then this summer, they were terrible, i walked around for half of their set.
-
How about that kid who got arrested, that shit was fucked up! the cop threw him like 20 feet into a trunk then put the cuffs on!
also glad to hear moe. is on a roll, will be hitting up snoe.down, and i havent seen em since 2/10/05
-
That kid was spun out of his mind and almost ran face first into me. Thank god the 300 lb Ol Dirty Bastard security guard got him before that happened because my feet were ready to start kicking....
-
no i think it was a diffeent kid, a few were taken away
-
too many spun out folks.
I did see someone at setbreak try to stop the emt\'s and police from doing there job to a friend who was taken to the hospital, they took his friend downtown to the NHPD.
-
^ thats the kid i meant
i\'m not saying he didn\'t deserve to be hassled, but the cop throwing him was bogus, it was after that he got pissed
-
Those kids deserved what they got... Fucking irresonsible ass holes.
-

I was at that and the woodbury one (TB was there too), I do still like them but will agree that it hasn\'t changed much
-
I love Umphrey\'s, but the past year they\'ve changed. They\'ve tasted success and realized they dont have to work that hard to make a lot of money. The quality of shows have been horrific, the new originals are great, but it\'s not enough. The problem with Umphrey\'s is that they dont try hard enough so they come off as too fucking lax... On flipside the Breakfast tries TOO hard. If only there was a happy medium out there... sssssssigghhhh
-
TOO hard? how so? I mean shouldn\'t they be working their balls off to bring us the best shit they possibly can. I for one am glad they work so hard, it creates that "best show ever" comments at practically every other show
-
They play too fast too much. They need to slow it down and improvise bottom up. I know they can do this, Ive seen them do it back in the day. I was telling Tim after the Daniel St drums+guitar gig that if they jammed like that all the time, they\'d be on top in seconds flat.
-
fair enough, but to me that\'s kinda what makes them what they are, but I def understand what your saying and your not the first person I\'ve heard say that. My first PB show I couldn\'t move the whole time, I just stood there in amazement it was almost too much for me. but I knew , and wanted to see them grow. and grow they have

This is the same reason many of my friends did not like Phish back in \'92.
Once Phish explored other ways to play other than breakneck speed they became so much more accessible.
I think the same thing will eventually happen w/ The Breakfast.
I can only hope because I can only hear so many times" Yeah they are ripping musicians but all they do is jam" I heard it so many times w/ Phish and now The Bfast.
Once they get past the east coast mentality that slower songs or deep spacey jams = cig/piss break maybe they will also become more accessible.

yeah, that was my gripe, but there\'s their shtick. ya know, proggy, whatever you wanna call it. they don\'t work up a jam the way other bands do. some of their fans say their not a jamband or some hooey, either way, yeah, ehh.... thats what it is. not much to it.

aren\'t they though?
I will admit thought that question mark and tunes of said nature I love but that\'s when I go to smoke a butt, or what not
-
Just surprised Joe thought it was run of the mill and that he was disappointed.
He loves UM so much.
Definitely surprised to hear, though it demonstrates some independent thinking.
I\'m also surprised to hear that you won\'t pay to see them anymore, as you seem to give many jambands the benefit of the doubt.
I\'m not sure if I\'d shell out $20 to see them for the first time when there are so many good bands playing for free through $10.

Well you see I did give UM the benefit of the doubt and even gave them more than my requisite see a band twice. Each time it got worse for me. I do admit enjoying a little umph on disc now and again but yeah unless they are part of a festival pkg and no other bands are playing while they are I may put down the bong and check \'em out.
-
Al I\'ve seen UM plenty, this was show 13. I\'ll see them again, but not on the East Coast.
It\'s not that I hate the fast playing, I love it, that\'s what pulled me into TB in the first place. I would just like to see them start a jam with a theme and build up that theme. Tim did it at Drums +Guitar and I felt like I was seeing Phish at the top of their game (only it was Tim, so was it the top of his game?). All I can say is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!
-
i say cut the set list in half, that would make them slow down a bit. as for UM i\'ll give a live listen today, we\'ll see if it was just the CT crowd
-
godspeed derick.... from the chatter I overheard it seemed that a lot of people at Toad\'s were also hitting up Lupo\'s ;/
-
I\'m just pissed i don\'t have any money for fliers
-
Print them at work DerickW.
Umphrey\'s has a hardcore following, so many of the peeps at Toad\'s last night will be in Lupo\'s tonight.
Kinda agree with TreyChica and the bands jam.
-
I\'ve been seeing them irregularly since \'02 and they probably rank just outside of my top 5 for \'jambands.\' Right now my faves are: moe., the Breakfast(tied for first), the Biscuits, Brothers Past, and the Russo/Benevento Duo. A lot of \'generic\' jambands don\'t do it for me, Raq, Groovatron, and plenty others. They just lack an original sound alltogether, UM has that sound, just doesn\'t do it for me like the rest.
-
Well you see I did give UM the benefit of the doubt and even gave them more than my requisite see a band twice. Each time it got worse for me. .
That\'s my whole point: Leith gives most bands the benefit of the doubt when other .inforumers often don\'t, therefore there must be some legitimate issues if you\'re no longer paying to see them.

i\'ve given them the benefit of the doubt 7 times now, tonight will be my 8th time seeing them. for some reason, i only find them enjoyable if i\'m completely wrecked on drugs, sober or a little buzz, then they bore the shit out of me. that being said, i\'ve seen plenty of moe. and breakfast shows sober and love it just as much if not more than high/drunk.
-
I\'m just glad I didnt waste 10 bucks on an UMlive copy of the show.
Joe\'s next live band crush: Porcupine Tree.... seriously, everyone on this board needs to check them out the next time they come to the states.
-
went to the show last night......... i thought it sucked. worse $20 I\'ve ever spent. there jams went no where, they can\'t seem to pick a genre. i like the reggae sounds then they started this fake/weak attempt at some guitar driven rock jam..... garbage. If i were them i wouldn\'t let Tim play either, he would freak\'n own them all and then pick up the sticks.
passed out 300-400 fliers though. and only saw a couple on the ground. A big thanks to Igzy, Dawn and those kids from NH that were at the Toad\'s show for helping me pass out fliers.
Hey Bezerker, i met some friends of your that hangout with you late night after Toads.
Highlight of the evening..... seeing Igzy walk up to the UM merch table and drop fliers down and the merch girl was like what are those... you can\'t put those there...... and he picks them up and hands her one and walks away......
-
I felt the same way. I felt like they were genre jumping all night and I heard a lot of "heavy metal" sound throughout the night.
Umphrey\'s isn\'t for me. Which is kinda weird because I have helped with promotion in the Northeast since 2002 or so. And I really dug them up unto a year or so ago and then finally seeing them live, nailed the coffin shut.
I\'m sure if we saw them in there home territory the show would be different, or so I think.

The midwest shows and East coast shows are worlds apart....

The midwest shows and East coast shows are worlds apart....
Which I completely agree with.
However, why tour the East Coast if you aren\'t going to bring your "A" game? I really believe that people jumped onto the wagon on this one. I feel that there are a lot of "never seen Phish, want to recreate the scene" type of peeps.
I don\'t know anymore. If I am ever in the mid-west and can catch an Umphrey\'s show, I will definitely check it out. To either prove or disprove my theory.
-
The midwest shows and East coast shows are worlds apart....
Only in the degree in which they suck. Midwest shows suck just a little less.
you know, i want to go.. i really do.. i wanna see what all the fuss is about..
It\'s legit. They\'re every bit as good as The Breakfast, better in some aspects. I wish The Breakfast were in their shoes right now, but at least I can sleep well knowing that the hottest jamband in the land deserves their props.
LOL
Here is what I was going to post before this show happened in response to Wolf\'s post.
Every bit as good? lol
Timmy is better than both guitarists together.
Adrian and Ron would pummel the rhythm section they have and they have an extra percussionist.
Jordan is more than equal to Joel on keys no doubt.
They may be more prolific and pretty fair improvisers but The Breakfast are by far the better band.
Oh and The Breakfast have more Soul in Adrian\'s big toe than all of UM put together.
btw I also sleep well knowing TLG is getting their props.
-
Oh Leith.....
Spacey it\'s the Bonaroo generation trying to find their niche. Unfortunately I can only think of one band that has the potential to have a Phishesque niche and that\'s The Breakfast. I just got the new UM album last night and it\'s fucking great. Hearing it gave me a little more faith, yet dissapointed me at the same time. I hate knowing that they have enormous musical potential, but instead play lackluster onstage. Just like Greg said, it\'s like they\'d rather play in front of a giant mirror than play for their fans.
It\'s a shame because they were my favorite live act to see the past few years.
-
I like that label "Bonnaroo Generation" fits perfectly.
-
That\'s what they are. I remember the days where I would scourge the net trying to find Real Player samples of 4th tier jambands and waiting hours just to hear a shitty stream from someone like The Juggling Suns or Ominous Seapods. These kids are getting jambands shoved down their throats on the net nowadays and think just because they exist, that they\'re automatically the next Phish. It\'s like a huge game of musical chairs, where each up and coming band is a chair and the masses are trying to claim they\'ve been in the chair since day one. It\'s silly...... considering this band deserves all the asses in the world ;)
-
anchor drops, or a newer one? whats the 10$ UMlive? i wouldnt mind getting that show, you guys are real harsh on any non-breakfast band
-
I think we have been fair talking about UM.
Most of us agree that the band are great musicians, it just isn\'t for us.
I personally feel that the fanbase is what makes me not want to go to another show.
-
Safety in Numbers, the newest one....
UMlive is an instant soundboard of the show, you go to the soundboard, pay for it and get a ticket. At the end of the show you get a copy of show.
I\'ve seen many, many, many bands for my age, suffice to say I\'d like to think I have an accurate perception of these bands musical abilities.

Treychica is a Pirate so it\'s the new UM album. The UM live I believe is the show available right after the performance and actually most of us are really into alot of other bands than The Breakfast. It\'s just that UM sux. ;)
-
Leith your post is so two posts ago....
ANd Tea Leaf Green=pedar asses....
Oh and Spacey, that\'s the EAst Coast fanbase that doesn\'t make you want to go to another show in the East. ;)
-
did anyone get an SBD of that UM show, i would like to hear it again, i thought it was good, obviously they are no RAQ, but who is?
i know you guys like other bands, but you rip on everything non-breakfast and worship anything that involves them
-
I dont.....
DLD the bittorrent of the AUD on bt.etree.org
