I like that.
Hopefully, Taylor produces.

Hayensworth to Washington for $100 million.
Typical Skins move. I smell another disaster.
Buckhalter will get 1,200 yds in Denver

YOu don\'t have to worry about that because they also signed DeAngelo Hall to a $55 million deal with $20 million guarnteed. Sure thing, right?
-
Waste of Redskin money.

Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel to the Chiefs for a second-round pick? I never doubt the Patriots\' personnel moves, but I don\'t really see the logic in this. It feels like a lot to give up for second-rounder, especially when Tom Brady hasn\'t played a single down since having his knee torn apart (by the Chiefs, ironically enough).
What most interests me now is what the Chiefs, considered pretty much a lock to take Matthew Stafford or Mark Sanchez, will do with the third overall pick in the draft. Pretty much any position other than quarterback could use an upgrade in Kansas City.
-
Can anyone explain the Chris Canty signing to me? Are they concerned Osi might not be 100% back? The way I see it 2 of their best 10 players are DE\'s (Osi and Tuck) plus, Kiwanuka. I think their money would have been better spent else where.
I trust Jerry Reese, but Canty never really impressed me with Dallas.
- I think I get it now. They plan to use him as a hybrid DE/DT in the same way they used Tuck.
-
Mark Sanchez will go undrafted.

Go Cheifs!

pats are having trouble with the salary cap, that is why they traded vrabel and cassel

So who takes TO?
Seeing as the Jets just lost a whiny, selfish, washed up star they seem a likely destination.
Although if Plax is in prison the Giants may take stab.
Al Davis is always in the mix....
-
That is a good question. He should definitely land somewhere but the risk of taking him seems almost like it isn\'t worth the trouble.
Raiders could definitely benefit from him.
Wonder if he will end up with a team from the south.

The 49ers have reportedly agreed to a new two-year deal with QB Alex Smith.
The details aren\'t yet available, but it\'s expected to be for typical backup quarterback money at around $2-$3 million per season. Though Smith will be given the courtesy of "battling" Shaun Hill for the starter\'s job, Hill has the upper hand -- and a much better track record.

it\'s unfortunate that smith\'s career has taken the route that it has. he\'s had a different offensive coordinator in every year of his career and the one year that he had a competent coordinator and was 100% (2006 - his first year as full time starter), he played ok (58%, 16 td, 16 int, 75 qb rating). i think he\'s got the brains for the position, but he\'s not good enough to bring up the entire team. he hasn\'t had one legit #1 WR and the O line has been shaky for years. he still had a decent upside, but he has to have talent around him for that upside to be realized. i\'m ok with the signing. the fact that they haven\'t let him go speaks to his potential

and TO to the Bills...
-
i\'m pretty surprised, i figured the skins would\'ve paid a couple hundo millions for TO, just, you know, because that\'s how dan snyder likes to ruin his teams...
-
The Giants should pick up Matt Jones. This latest bit trouble is nothing. He\'d fill Plax\'s role better than anyone available.
The Jets are insane if they don\'t try to get Cutler. He\'s Brett Favre with out the old.

49\'ers pay attention:
Free agent Jeff George says if he was on the Vikings, he "guarantee(s) (he) would be wearing a ring right now."
He just won\'t let it go. "It just amazes me that I’m not on somebody’s roster," the 41-year-old said. "You can’t tell me I’m not better than some of the QBs that are out there. I look at teams like Minnesota or Chicago, and I want to scream at the people in charge, ‘What are you thinking?\'" George is throwing and staying in shape, but seems unlikely to get a call this offseason.

please...we\'ve got a three-headed monster in shaun hill/alex smith/damon huard
-
Great. With the 18-game schedule that Goodell is proposing, George could throw 30 interceptions in a season instead of the usual 20.
By the way, I think Goodell\'s proposal of extending the regular season could be the dumbest thing I\'ve ever heard about in sports. Well, not as dumb as the World Baseball Classic or having the All-Star Game decide home field in the World Series, but close.

It\'s 2007 all over again kidz. Patriots will be running up scores and leaving a smoldering trail of destruction in their wake. 19-0, 19 to go. Look out.

is there some alternate 2007 in your brain, wolfy?
in other, more important news (ie 49er news), isaac bruce is returning and jay cutler is on the trading block. i hope to god we get this guy. i don\'t care if he\'s perceived as whiney -- he\'s talented. this is a quarterback\'s league (yeah it\'s cliche...but it\'s still true). without an elite (read: all decade) defense you can\'t be truly successful without a top tier quarterback. very limited supply and he\'s available. definitely worth our #10 overall pick. i wouldn\'t want to make a herschel walker-type trade to acquire him, but seeing that a 1st round qb is a 50/50 shot (at best), he\'s absolutely worth the minor gamble. singletary\'s a straight shooter...he\'d let him know what\'s what. we\'ve bolstered out line with marvel smith, and we\'ve trimmed some of the fat on defense. a cutler trade would push us from the mediocre level right to the playoff level.
unless of course, the browns trade for him....

looks like da bears got cutler...gave up a bunch for him too. don\'t know if i would want to give up two #1 picks and a #3 pick (and orton) for him
-
Giants cut Plax. This means A) They are certain he will do prison time and miss some if not all of this season. B) They\'re real close on Braylon Edwards or Anquan Boldin.
Still say they should grab Matt Jones.

Tell you what, it\'s really not out of the question at all for Boston to win all 4 pro championships this year (Super Bowl technically in \'10). Although I have no idea how the Celtics are getting past the Cavs. But that\'s for another thread. Give me 3:1 odds that at least 2 Boston teams win championships this year and I\'ll throw down a $100 bet right now.
-

I fucking hate Da Bears. Now, I hate Jay Cutler. As a Lions fan, I sure as well would have given up our No. 1 or No. 20 for Cutler any day.
-
Hakeem Nicks huh? Meh. Not that big, decent, but not blazing speed. Looks like they\'ve got another 2/3 type WR to go with Steve Smith, Hixon, and Mannigham. WR is still a need postion. For the 3rd time in this thread I\'ll advocate them picking up Matt Jones.

Did Brady get to the field via time machine, or is he still a 31-year-old (32 by the start of the regular season) with a surgically-repaired knee who hasn\'t played a full-contact NFL game since Super Bowl XLII?
It probably won\'t shake out the same in the end, but Brady\'s return to the practice field is currently the equivalent of David Ortiz arriving to Red Sox spring training with a healthy wrist back in February.

Countdown to wolf\'s 19-0 posts?

Well, seeing as how today is the first day of the NFL season, allow me to make my Super Bowl prediction:
Patriots over Saints
-
Pitt over Minnesota
-
Anyone want to do that "pick the games" league we did last year?
-
Steelers over Eagles.
Bodog has New England as the favorite (7/2). The best bets for my money would be Pittsburgh (19/2) or Tennessee (20/1). My sleeper pick is Washington (35/1).
-
AFC East: Patriots (#1)
AFC North: Steelers (#3)
AFC South: Colts (#2)
AFC West: Chargers (#4)
#5 Seed: Ravens
#6 Seed: Titans
NFC East: Eagles (#4)
NFC North: Packers (#1)
NFC South: Falcons (#3)
NFC West: 49ers (#2)
#5 Seed: Cardinals
#6 Seed: Vickings
Wild Card Round:
Steelers over Titans
Chargers over Ravens
Falcons over Vickings
Eagles over Cardinals
Divisional Round:
Chargers over Patriots
Colts over Steelers
Falcons over 49ers
Packers over Eagles
Championship Round:
Colts over Chargers
Falcons over Packers
Superbowl:

^^^ That\'s a bit out of the blue, neh?
The Steelers/Eagles sounds fun...
but I\'m going with the Patriots.

pretty bold statement after 1 quarter of football. i expect you to be eating those words soon.
Saints are taling it all this year.

Anyone else going to the Jets game sunday?
-
Mark Sanchise
you know you have a good defense when you hold Brady to ZERO touchdowns. and I don\'t want to hear it about Welker not playing...Pats still have Moss.
-

Welker is more important to the offense than Moss is.
Welker caught 111 in 2008 and 112 in 2007.
Moss only caught 69 in 2008 and 98 in 2007.
Welker was the short game since the Patriots never really had one.
The Jets showed up today and played football, hard nose football. Walked away with a well deserved win.
-
Edelman did a pretty good job at filling the slot roll...little shaky at first but I think he ended up with about 100 rec yards.
I think it was one of those games the Jets needed to win...and thankfully they did but the Pats are still the team to beat (in the division)
-
Damn! Tough game. The Chargers blew it in the Red Zone and the Ravens didn\'t. No LT was tough to handle but Sproles did admirably.
Oh well at least they were able to move the ball and put up 26 points on that Defense which is something to take from the game as a fan.
Niners won again which is nice. They have a team that can win the NFC West and a Coach that has them going in the right direction after years of being a lost franchise.
oh yeah and the patriots will suck with no D and Brady becoming human.

Fucking BULLSHIT I tell you!
Fuck Brett Favre!
Niners w/o Gore had that game but NOOOOOOOOO! Fucking Brett "Niners Killer" Favre had to fucking pull out the magic one more fucking time!

Oh well at least The Chargers pulled out a win w/o LT.

Speaking of Favre, sort of... The Jets are quietly 3-0...

i agree with all of this. i hate that guy. i knew he\'d find a way to screw me. he always does. whether it\'s beating the niners, or fucking me in fantasy, or fucking up a bet it never fucking fails. never liked him, never will.
-
G-MEN!
that is all.
-
i don\'t get it. the redskins put up huge numbers statistically but still fail to beat the fucking lions. THE LIONS. their first win since 2007.
fuck its annoying to be a fan sometimes.
-
The Lions were bound to win eventually. Some team had to be the one to lose. My understanding is that the Lions out played the Redskins.
-
the entire bar erupted in applause when the lions won, around this singletary lions fan who was standing on a chair. cheering. i was so happy for him
-
Congratulations to the Detroit Lions. Now my Cleveland Browns are officially the worst team in the NFL. Who-hoo!
-
Congratulations to the Detroit Lions. Now my Cleveland Browns are officially the worst team in the NFL. Who-hoo!
If you\'re going by active losing streak, it\'s still the St. Louis Rams (13 games). But the Browns are pretty terrible.
-
The Browns have scored one offensive touchdown in nine games going back to last season. And it was a garbage-time TD against the Vikings. Yikes.
-
Don\'t forget about the Cheifs.
Missouri, in general, sucks.
-
Fucking Chargers can\'t tackle and show up for a quarter?
This is not even Norv\'s fault the players are just shit right now.
At least the Niners rebounded from that last week and are showing that Singletary has the team going in the right direction.
Yeah it was the Lambs but 35-0 against an NFL team and w/o Gore is nothing to sneeze at.
Yeah I know I know they are not a top team yet but they are playing their best in years on both sides of the ball and are one play away from being 4-0.
It\'s about time.
-
You can probably blame Norv for this, though: The Chargers only ran the ball eight times (including one carry for one yard by Philip Rivers), and Darren Sproles had no carries and one reception for 16 yards. The Chargers\' coaching staff got a declining LaDainian Tomlinson back and completely forgot about the most explosive player in the building. If Michael Jordan came out of retirement right now, the Bulls wouldn\'t stop letting Ben Gordon shoot the ball.
-
I don\'t doubt that the giants are a good team, but these fans on the radio are basically handing them a suber bowl win already... They\'ve played 5 teams that have 6 total wins this season... Only one has a winning record and two of them are 0-5... Oh yeah, and they can beat up on the raiders... Let\'s see what they do against the saints before we start talking about them being the best team in the league...
-
Cleveland 6, Buffalo 3
I hope none of you upstaters were subjected to this atrocity on television. The Browns win with two field goals, the longest of which was a 24-yarder, and the other of which came after recovering a fumble (an unforced one, at that) already in field goal range. Derek Anderson completed TWO passes all day and his team won. I won\'t be surprised if the estate of Walter Camp calls my office and asks us to stop referring to him as the father of American football. What an embarrassing game.
I feel bad for Pitchie... his squad finally gets a win and it\'s not even something that he can brag about.

45-0 ??? 5 touchdowns in one half ? best QB of all time/worst defense of all time
345 yards ????? oh my fucking god

dude.

The Saints have a player named "Bushrod"... which would be a great nickname for Kate Hudson.

Vick was safetied, but the refs gave them a mercy call. Bellicheck would have won a challenge on that call if he wanted to.
And he should have.

Belichick would not have won a challenge, because you can\'t challenge a forward progress call. It was definitely a safety, though.

Am I the only one that thinks fantasy sports have ruined the actual sports. I also think that Belichick is a great coach, but a dick who likes to run up the score on his opponents... When you\'re up by 4 TDs, is it really necessary to continue to throw bomb passes, just run the ball up the gut and try not to embarass the team more than you already have...
-
Am I the only one that thinks fantasy sports have ruined the actual sports.
i think it has certainly changed how sports are covered/followed (not necessarily ruined it). but i don\'t think it\'s actually changed the sports. over emphasis of individual statistics has always been part of sports (and conversely, team play is often under-emphasized)
-
Am I the only one that thinks fantasy sports have ruined the actual sports.
At some point in the last few years, also thanks to the rise of fantasy sports, "statistics" all of a sudden became "fantasy updates". While a die-hard will never cheer against his team, fantasy sports have definitely turned the casual fan into a fair weather fan. For example, I would never cheer against the Red Sox, but my favorite NFL team is definitely my fantasy team.
Fantasy sports have done some good, however. Pitchers are finally recognized for having a solid WHIP (a much better barometer than W-L record or ERA), and wide receivers like Wes Welker get due credit for catching 100 balls every year, even if they only score four or five touchdowns. The flip side of this is that shutdown cornerbacks like Nnamdi Asomugha or Darrelle Revis, who never have interceptions because nobody ever throws their way, get no credit. The same goes for great blocking backs and receivers.
I also think that Belichick is a great coach, but a dick who likes to run up the score on his opponents... When you\'re up by 4 TDs, is it really necessary to continue to throw bomb passes, just run the ball up the gut and try not to embarass the team more than you already have...
I have gone back and forth on this a number of times, and I still haven\'t come to a conclusion (that\'s what she said).
On one hand, it is a general rule of thumb that pulling your starters before the fourth quarter is a slap in the face to the other team. But on the other hand, the weather was awful, Brady has a surgically-repaired knee and the score was more than double your average three-touchdown blowout.
Also, the Patriots offense isn\'t designed for running up the gut, especially with Laurence Maroney coming off of an injury. Check-down passes and screens to Wes Welker and Kevin Faulk ARE their "running game".
You also don\'t want to ruin the shutout for your defense. I hate when defenses turn in a great effort and then give up a late touchdown because they have been on the field for most of the second half, since the offense keeps going three-and-out.
Belichick is definitely a dick, but it\'s not his fault that his team has the opportunity to run up the score more often than another coach. Who can say for sure that Dick Jauron (Buffalo) or Jim Schwartz (Detroit) or any other coach wouldn\'t do the same thing?
-
I\'m sorry, but the way that game played out felt more like a college game than a pro game... You know like the BSC determined your rank and not your record...

I\'m sorry, but the way that game played out felt more like a college game than a pro game... You know like the BSC determined your rank and not your record...
This was one team of professional athletes playing another team of professional athletes, not Florida vs. the Tallahassee School for the Blind. The Patriots pulled Brady after one second-half series, and the team only scored 14 second-half points. You can’t really call off the dogs before halftime, and you can\'t send your young backup quarterback out there with your second-string offense and expect him to gain anything from it.
And not for nothing, but while Tom Brady was responsible for the 59 on one side of the scoreboard, he had nothing to do with the zero on the other side. Tennessee was just a special kind of terrible on Sunday.
-
I do not see anything wrong with running up the score. If the other team feels so emparased, forfiet the game.
The only reason I really can see for pulling your starters is to protect them from injury, which argubly should be done whenever the outcome of the game is no longer in doubt.
-

I agree with you. I just think that the game was a mockery.
-
The Patriots also needed to prove who they were and say "Hey NFL, we\'re still a great team". After losing to the Jets and Broncos, people had their doubts, but with this massacre it makes people realized Tom Brady is back.
-
Fucking Niners need Gore back STAT!!
Chargers should handle the Giants tomorrow as they have no answer for Rivers. 4 TD\'s minimum.
-
If the Charger receivers hadn\'t dropped so many damn passes Philip would have had his 4 TD\'s and this game would not have been so close.
As it is he got 3 and HEY Eli! EAT A BIG MUTHAFUCKIN\' D!!!!
-
Well The Chargers are heading in the right direction. Nice win over the Eagles today which with Denver\'s loss sets up a game for first place in the AFC West next week in Denver.
Oh and that Colts/Pats game was the shootout it was billed to be and either team could have won but you all know I\'m stoked abt the result and I\'ll leave it at that.
No need to sully such a great game.

Worst Bill Belichik coaching decision of his career.
Who goes for it on 4th down on your own 30 yd line? When you are up by only 6 points?

Bottom line is that he didn\'t trust his defense...
-
and he trusted brady and the offense. the spot of the ball they gave them is questionable, i thought it was a first down, but you can\'t blame it on the refs. belichik fucked up here.

i don\'t think that\'s really fair. it was a gutsy call and it didn\'t work out. he would have been just as wrong if they had punted and the colts scored...the only difference is he wouldn\'t be killed for it because it\'s the safe move. i think he deserves some credit. of course, few coaches in the nfl have the kind of job security that he does, so he can afford to take a risk once in a while

Also, going for 4th downs has been a hall-mark of the patriots in 07, 08 and 09.
-
The thing is, if he kicked it, the colts would have had to go 50-70 yards for a TD rather than 20+... I give him credit for having the guts to make that call, but it was the "wrong" call...

hindsight is 20/20. and keep in mind that they had two previous touchdown drives of 80 yards in the fourth quarter...both lasting about 2 minutes.
-
So you\'d rather give your opponent 20+ yards with 2:00 to go as opposed to 60+ yards?
That being said, my team is sucking wind... Aside from losing to New Orleans by 14 points, we\'ve lost four games by 5 or less points after leading at some point in the 4th quarter... The Jets could easily be 8-1 or 7-2, yet we\'re essentially done at 4-5... Same old Jets...
-
they should have either made peyton earn that last touchdown by punting or let them score easily so there would be time on the clock for brady to march down the field and at least get in field goal range. poor clock management.
also awful pass interference call during the first colts touchdown drive of the final 4 minute run.
-
So you\'d rather give your opponent 20+ yards with 2:00 to go as opposed to 60+ yards?
those weren\'t the options and you know it
-
As a football fan, I love that the Patriots go for it on 4th and short with regularity. However, there is no sane way to give Belichick "credit" for being ballsy in this situation. Sometimes convention is convention for a reason. Why do you think teams don\'t go for two after taking a 6-0 lead in the fourth quarter? I was just talking to somebody who watched the game with Rodney Harrison and Tony Dungy (yes, really), and they were both absolutely baffled by the decision.
Punting the ball away tells the Patriots\' defense, "I trust you to win the game". Going for the first down not only tells the defense, "I don\'t trust you", but it also tells Peyton Manning, "You have our number". Peyton Manning doesn\'t need extra confidence boosts.
-
So you\'d rather give your opponent 20+ yards with 2:00 to go as opposed to 60+ yards?
those weren\'t the options and you know it
So what were the options? Do you really assume that they\'ll convert on 4th down? If you\'re at your own 20 with a lead and 2:00 minutes left, you punt the ball and the colts will most likely start around the colt 40 yard. You\'ve got a much better chance of your D holding them with some distance to the end zone rather than giving them what essentially would be a slam dunk from the 20...

The Giants are disgraceful.
Charles Woodson is the man. Not for making the Lions his bitch today, but he donated $2 million to the University of Michigan\'s childrens hospital. I don\'t care how much money he\'s made. That\'s a big check to write.

Chargers wrap up the AFC WEST and looks like the only team they face the rest of the way that may be tough is the bengals.
Home game in the playoffs will be nice.
Saints should beat the pats tonight which is going to be awesome to watch.
Oh and the Niners can set up a game for the Division at home in 2 weeks if they can beat Seattle nxt week since the cards are not beating Favre and the Vikings.
Hell yeah!!
-
Went to my first NFL game yesterday - got hooked up with a Niners ticket. Weird weather at Candlestick: very warm, sunny and no wind.
-

w00t! alex smith is finally coming around. finishing the season with DET/STL will be nice also. i just hope they don\'t look past seattle. also, the panthers lost this week...their 2010 first round draft pick is getting better and better

Yeah who woulda thought after the past couple weeks esp. w/o Gore they would be set up to actually do something?
Oh and is anyone watching this wonderful MNF game?
I haven\'t seen Brady sacked and beat up like this in awhile.
Who Dat?
Wow Complete and utter domination by the Saints over the pats. pats D is nonexistent and the Saints D is omniscient. Crazy.

Miami down by 2.
Oh how delicious! shitsburgh loses to da raidas and the pats can\'t beat the fins.
Now if The Bolts can beat these brownies they get closer to that Playoff Home game.

Go Bolts! Second Seed right now due to better conference record and if they can beat the Bengals in San Diego in 2 weeks it\'s probably a lock.
-
man...my niners breaking my heart yesterday. so many tough losses this season. the cards won anyway, so next week\'s game wasn\'t going to mean quite as much, but it\'s going to take a miracle to make the playoffs. at least alex smith is playing like a first round draft pick :/

Yeah I was bummed they blew a perfect pro sports weekend 4 me.
I was hoping the turnaround would be greater but I really like the direction they are headed. Warner has to retire sometime right? When he does the Division will be up 4 grabs again.

I actually think he jumped into the vehicle and was thrown when she took a turn. Regardless, it was stupid.

OK it\'s tomorrow.
What is?
The last game of the Patriots\' season.
Wish it would be next week but ya can\'t have everything.

we\'re really killing it with our predictions drew

Loving this Ravens game so far.

San Diego SUPER Chargers!!!

I\'m actually pulling for the Chargers to run the table. I love Sproles, LT, Gates and Merriman (despite his decline lately). Even though Rivers annoys me, I think he\'s one hell of a QB and I have always enjoyed their style on offense. I just genuinely enjoy watching the SD play football.
HOLY SHIT that TD (Doucet #2) just now was SICK!
-
we\'re really killing it with our predictions drew
Didn\'t realize that our picks were identical... or that we both went 0-for-4 this weekend!
Revised picks (clearly not intended for gambling purposes):
Saints d. Cardinals
Vikings d. Cowboys
Ravens d. Colts
Chargers d. Jets

Vikings d. Saints

Calling in my picks now... based on your past performance, I\'m going against all these.
-
Bill Simmons made the same four picks for this past weekend... is this a sign of parity in the NFL or idiocy on the Internet?
-
How great was it seeing Chad Johnson basically crying at the end of the game... Or seeing the look of dis-belief on Belicheck\'s face w/ his stupid pom pom hat...
-
wow! I went 0-4 with my first week post season picks.... Glad i don\'t gamble.

J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS!... This is a good day in sports... 60 minutes away from going to the Super Bowl...

Is worth mentioning that Rex Ryan didn\'t get a single vote for NFL Coach of the Year?

Is worth mentioning that Rex Ryan didn\'t get a single vote for NFL Coach of the Year?
i\'m sure he would have gotten a few if they waited until after the season was over (like they should do)
-
On a side note - why are they playing the pro bowl a week before the super bowl?
Bring on the Jets!!!!!
San Diego SUPER Chargers!!!
No comments from the peanut gallery?
-
there\'s nothing to comment on. the chargers always choke in the playoffs.

Besides blaming the loss on the chargers choking, how about giving the jets D some credit...
-
3 for 4 this weekend. Glad I made up for my terrible picks last week.
-
Jets D looks mighty impressive.. Colts are going to have to ATTACK the rookie qb from the get-go, make him fuck up, get in his head, and let the master control a very good defense. Jets D is very good, I\'ll take Peyton Manning though. But who the fuck knows, this is the NFL. Any given Sunday.
-

Pfffft how does the defense have anything to do with those 2 missed field goals(I\'ll give him the miss from 57 yards) by one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL ie. hadn\'t missed one in 69 consecutive tries from inside the 40?
Whatever. Enjoy it for the week.
-
i\'ll root for the jets over the colts, but in the end i\'m going NFC all the way. don\'t really care who wins, saints or vikings, the NFC champ is my superbowl pick.

The Who\'s Pete Townshend has revealed that the band\'s upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance will feature a "compact medley" of their signature classic-rock anthems.
"We\'re kinda doing a mashup of stuff," the guitarist tells Billboard. "A bit of \'Baba O\'Riley,\' a bit of \'Pinball Wizard,\' a bit of the close of \'Tommy,\' a bit of \'Who Are You,\' and a bit of \'Won\'t Get Fooled Again.\' It works -- it\'s quite a saga. A lot of the stuff that we do has that kind of celebratory vibe about it -- we\'ve always tried to make music that allows the audience to go a bit wild if they want to. Hopefully it will hit the spot."
The annual Super Bowl half time concert has become one of rock\'s highest profile gigs, with U2, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Prince, the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney each taking the stage in recent years. The medley format is not unusual for artists with such a deep catalogue - Springsteen and Prince took a similar approach.

I\'ll be interested to see the show, but The Who = Townshend, Daltrey, Entwistle & Moon... You can even go as far as to say the band existed w/ Ringo Jr. on drums, but now it\'s Townshend/Daltrey... It\'s far from The Who... They could do a double billed tour w/ Plant/Page...
-
Yeah it\'s a travesty calling it The Who.

Colts 34, Saints 24

Colts 34, Saints 24
MVP: Wayne
I like the way you think! If the Colts can limit damage on special teams, I think Peyton\'s ability and the speed of the Colts defense take care of business by double digits. I just really hope they don\'t let up a kickoff/punt return or an interception for a TD. It didn\'t hurt them last time against the Bears but the Saints are obviously a lot better than them. My vote for MVP goes to Dallas Clark. DC is the man!
-
watching highlights the last few days of the bears/colts SB is painful. i agree, the saints are a much better team than the bears were. we had the worst QB in SB history, and our secondary became more and more incompetent as the season wore on.
i want the saints to win, but if the colts win i take down $480 straight away from my 19-point pool. kind of a win-win i guess. not gonna lie im much more concerned with winning a square this year than really caring who wins. i just hope the game has as exciting a finish as the last two.

yesterday proved the tom brady was without a doubt the best quarteback of the century.
-
yesterday proved the tom brady was without a doubt the best quarteback of the century.
How so?
If anything, yesterday proved that Drew Brees is a phenomenal quarterback. He had to beat Kurt Warner, Brett Favre and Payton Manning to bring the Super Bowl Trophy to New Orleans. Drew Brees had a fantastic game.
While I am a Patriots fan and do believe that Tom Brady is a great quarterback and certainly worthy of all the accolades and of Hall of Fame career.
Yesterday, proved that the Saints were the best team in the NFL this season.
-
yesterday proved the tom brady was without a doubt the best quarteback of the century.
This century? Still 90 years for this to not be true.
Last century? Brady was is college.
Last 100 years? Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw both went 4-0 in Super Bowls.
Your statement is flawed on three different levels.
By the way, if you\'re ever looking for a reason why sports analyst is a bullshit job, consider the following:
Jim Caldwell is currently getting blasted by the media for attempting a 50+ yard field goal with a 17-16 lead in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Sean Payton is getting praised for his onside kick attempt.
If Stover hits the field goal, or Indianapolis recovers the onside kick and scored to take a 17-6 lead, Sean Payton is an idiot and Jim Caldwell is a Super Bowl Champion.

In that case, I agree... not with the "without a doubt" part, but with the general premise. I would still take Peyton over Brady, but I would definitely take three Super Bowls over three MVP awards.

Self-chipped. The Saints just wanted it more so they deserved to win.
Man, the Tyree catch...then Holmes toeing the end zone...now the onside kick. Quite some memorable Superbowl moments the last few years.
