Title: Olympics Anyone?
Post by: leith on August 26, 2004, 01:40:47 am
So anyone watching the Olympics? USA is cleaning up and the doping scandals have been minimal. The women\'s team sports are kickin\' some major ass and i think the men have something to strive for. It\'s nice to see teams like Iraq lose a game and not have the fear of death in their eyes. Most of the coverage I watch I already know the result of but it is more about the level of competition and the pure joy and agony of the participants in an event that is so important to the world that I like to see.

And to think they introduced regulations about the size of clothing. Damn, wish I\'d started watching it earlier!

GB has been pretty weak on the whole - got most of our medals already, when normally we would be looking forward to lots in the athletics. Hockey was terrible, only beating Egypt and the Argies, Nicole Cook screwed up on the road race, Radcliffe pulled out of the marathon...the list of "almosts" goes on.

As for the games generally, anyone else noticed how the East Asians seem to be clearing up a hell of a lot of medals in gymnastics and weightlifting this year? Nice to see Russian dominance broken and someone else getting a share.

are you ser?

dont get me wrong, she is beautiful and has fantastic stems....but the hottest woman alive?????

I am more partial to Natalie Portman or Kirstan Dunst.  I dont think there is one solitary person that can be called the hottest alive.......

everyone is beautiful in their own way...

Nice to see that Stephon Marbury remembered how to play basketball by scoring 31. But can LeBron and Carmelo play more than a combined eight minutes?

I would choose gymnast Carly Patterson over Kerri Welsh.

Yeah yeah both Natalie and Kirsten are hot but Walsh has the flexibilty of a world class athlete that they could never reach no matter how many acting classes they take.

As for any one person being hottest, that makes me think of this adage; no matter how hot a woman may be there is always someone tired of doing her.

Now Todd was ever the gentleman out here in Cali where the 15-16yo girls look like they are 21-22. Now that is not to say we were not looking but unless I\'m in Nebraska 18 is the cutoff and I am sure Todd concurs. So how old is Carly?  ;)

I know diddly shit about soccer, but I know enough to know that Brazil just scored one of the best goals I\'ve ever seen to tie the United States 1-1 late in regulation in the women\'s gold medal game. It\'s happening right now. Still about five minutes left.

U. S. gets the gold, winning 2-1 on an extra-time goal from Abby Wambach. That\'s more soccer than I\'ve watched in the past five years. But a great finish.

Aren\'t I like 13 too? :)

It certainly feels like, until I turn 21, I may as well need a note from my mommy (or my Uncle Duane... thanks Cafe Nine) to do anything.
