I think that echoes would be a great encore. I talked to Jordan about it and he said it just starts to slow.. So who knows.

sabbath fans - nice!!! if i had a choice, i would request sabbath\'s \'symptom of the universe\' (#3 on sabotage -- if you don\'t have this album, GET IT!!) there is a beautiful acoustic part at the end of the song that is quite mind-blowing and it would be cool if tim switched over to the acoustic to play it. also, it would be AWESOME to hear adrian play the drums to this song. but i don\'t know if this song is realistic for pb to play. i could definitely see them playing \'sweet leaf\' tho - it sure would be appropriate!

also, a steeley dan cover would be cool since i always say that Tim sounds like walter becker on some of his solos (although becker doesn\'t play on kid charlemange, i still would love to hear pb play it).

hum... lastly i guess i would say i\'d like to hear \'those were the days\' (cream). that\'s one of my favorite cream songs and we all know pb does some sick cream covers. .... or maybe get a guest saxophonist and play \'the low spark of high heeled boys.\' that would be cool!!!

i could go on and on, but i\'ll spare everyone and stop here....

I wouldn\'t doubt if they have played it before, but I would like to hear them play "Johnny B. Goode"... or "Great Balls of Fire" just to hear Jordan pound out a fucking amazing jam...

I agree with the dude who said SYMPTOM OF THE UNIVERSE by Sabbath.  And if you\'re gonna do that one you also have to play MEGALOMANIA, (skip the slow intro, start 1/3 of the way in where the hard part starts) which is the next track off the Sabotage album. They should also try Killers, The Prisoner, or Invaders by Iron Maiden or Seasons in the Abyss, Crionics, or Tormentor by Slayer.

Just having a conversation with the better half and she suggested some FISHBONE covers.

1] Bonein\' in the Bone yard
2] Party at Ground Zero (w/DBB Horns)

Why aren\'t there more SKA bands. When I was in college there seemed to be quite a few. We used to go to this place called the Red Brick Cafe\' in Providence RI like every wednesday was reggae / SKA night.

Why not do some covers that are not expected.  So cancel out all Popular Jam Bands and the famous classis rock bands like Zep, Floyd, Beatles and such.

Goblin - a cool instrumental band that has done the soundtrack for basically all of the Dario Argento films.

The Band - I can see Jordan singing a cool version of Shape I\'m In or Life is a Carnival.

The Who - I know this goes against the classic rock band thing I said before, but how about a mini-rock opera like A Quick One, While He\'s Away.

Just my two cents

Cheap Sunglasses will come.  It took me 2.5 years or so to get Frankenstein played.  We are coming up on the 1 year anniversary by the way.  Although I did miss an early opportunity for cheap sunglasses by not chugging a beer at 4 in the morning when I was already wasted.  I ended up puking anyway, so I should have done it!

interesting story; way back when they first started playing terrapin, rydb and myself gave adrein a ride (mass?) to a show for sake of room in the van. On the way we\'re all talking about covers, why do what stlyes, and why terrapin. This is from memory, but Adriens responce was:

"We know we can cover anything out there, but were not a cover band. We don\'t want to play phish bc then people will only want to hear us play phish. I say we only learn really big long complicated songs from now on. Thats why we\'re doing terrapin. If people want covers, we\'re gonna pull out stuff thats so damn hard no one else will even dare cover it... next I want to cover an entire yes album."

like i said, it was right after they started playing terrapin, and it was in mass, so it was probably this:
November 17th, 2000 UMASS Butterfield Amherst, MA
I: Superfly Phaddy Fat > Attraction to Shade Ditty > Eat That Phone Book Coda*, Rufus > Cut Me Some Slack, Language of the Gods, Terrapin Station^ > Wake Up in a Coma > Gladys Pimp > Drunk Monk Bar, LDZ > Stash^ > Drum Solo > May Fly Disarray
E: The Grand Scheme of Things^^ > Son of Simpleton
* Sound Difficulties / Played Again / First Time Played
^ First Time Played
^^ Phaddy Boom Baddy Tease

if i\'m not mistaken, this was also the wrestling butterfield show

obvoiusly, it hasn\'t happened yet. probably was dropped as too ambitious. They definetly could pull it off, but they probably would rather spend that time on writing origionals than learning covers...

yea, but as I quoted, they don\'t like to play phish \'all the time\'. Nuggets here and there always came out, especially at butterfield. They even played squirming coil there once! If they didnt like playing covers, they never would have learned terrapin either!

I think that if a show started with echos (Part 1) and sequed into the show and ended with echos. See below, its too early for me to think.

Echos (Part 1) > Set 1, 2 > Echos (Part 2)

Paul,
If I remember correctly it was the show that PB opened up for the Robby Krieger Band in Boston.  We drove Adrian up, but he got a ride home.  I could be wrong since my memory isn\'t the best.

Yes, that Butterfield show was the debut of 2 covers:  Stash and Eat That Phonebook Coda.

And for clarification, Wrestlmania 420 was at the last show, 3/30/01.  It\'s in my "End of An Era" review and my review of the show.

WOw you actually bought them!! Awesome, hearing that makes my day!!!!  You should\'ve went to cduinverse and bought them domestic for 13.99 each hehehehehe Shit Joc, I don\'t even have them yet on cd, I\'m envious!!

But seriously I can go indepth as to why each of my picks should be  TB cover.... And I will post it to prove my point.. in a few mins that is..

Motor Booty Affair" -Parliament
Funkiest P-Funk groove IMO... TB would have wicked fun with this one. I know they\'ve teased it once before, so the thought has definetly crossed their minds!!

"Hocus Pocus"-Focus
They already cover Focus with "Sylvia" but lets face it if they covered "Hocus Pocus" every venue they played at would erupt... I mean this is the PERFECT opener!!

"Villiage of the Sun"-Zappa
Tim definetly could handle Napolean\'s raspy voice on it, if not I have a version of Ike singing, which actually would be more suitable for Tim to imitate. I think Paul would agree with me on this one...

"Fountain of Samalacis"-Genesis
Ok I know this one is a long shot, but hey we can all dream, can\'t we??

"Marvelous Moses"-Nektar
Tim would take vocals on this one and Joc, c\'mon it would fit in PERFECTLY  in their repoitoire...

"Close to the Edge"-Yes
A few years ago I talked to Tim, trying to coax him and the guys into covering "Starship Trooper". He said if anything they would cover "Close to the Edge"... So :)

"Trilogy"- Mahavishnu
The boys already covered "Hope" and "Miles Beyond" and I wish to Christ almighty they would bring them back... But still I would love to hear them cover "Triology"-- it would be a challenge for Tim to tackle some of McLaughlin\'s rifts on this tune.

"Shh/Peaceful"-Miles
I think it would be cool to open a show up with sort of an ambient jam and then just go right into this... The whole crowd would be confused, but I think it\'d be the most pristine musical moment ever.

"Life Divine"-Santana/McLaughlin
Another cool song just to jam off of.

"Elephant Talk"- King Crimson
Ron would sing this one..... I think it would sound good.

"Out of the Blue"-Roxy Music
Ron would also sing this one..I mean I\'m pretty sure he could do a mean Brian Ferry.

"Ten Years Gone" Zeppelin
Tim would sing this one. I don\'t think anyone would argue against this one. I know Umphrey\'s teases it often but never play it, so I\'d recommend TB to pick it up asap!!

"My Wife"- The Who
Jordan=John Entwhistle c\'mon, c\'mon!!

I can\'t stand ELP, which is why I was pissed when TB covered Karn Evil 9, thats my least favorite.... But I guess I could tolerate something off Tarkus or the first album, but thats about it.... NO MORE ELP EVER GUYS!!!

i dig Tarkus...just the suite, my all time fave ELP. the rest of that record i could do without. the first s/t album is a worthy listen (the barbarian, tank, lucky man). toccata\'s the only thing that does it for me from brain salad surgery...i just think it\'s kinda cool the the breakfast covers Karn Evil 9 so well.

I mean, yeah they do it justice, I just hate the song so no matter what I\'m gonna sigh and walk to the bathroom and take a 7 minute long piss...

Why the negativity?  Maybe it\'s just because I can\'t see how somebody can dislike the song (not an insult to you, just my opinion), but not liking a song doesn\'t mean you can\'t get down like James Brown while The Breakfast is playing it.

I just don\'t like the song, it\'d be the same thing no matter what band played it... Part of being a fan is also being constantly critical and true to yourself.  I\'m not spurning negativity, I\'m just stating my opinion on one TB cover.  But even though I\'m friends with the boyz doesn\'t mean I\'m going to constantly bow down to every single note that comes out of their PA.  I love challenging Tim whenever I can, that\'s my nature, we get into raging arguments sometimes, but its for both our mutual love and obsession for music.  Like I said the boyz do Karn Evil 9 justice, they never hit a stale note, but its not TB I\'m bashing(maybe a little for choosing to cover it;), I\'m more pissed at ELP for writing it hehehehe......  Hope my explanation makes sense to you.

I see your point... though I can\'t relate as far as The Breakfast is concerned.  Maybe during "Beef Barley" or "Buquebus", depending on my mood.

I hear you..... Thats like me the second I hear the first notes of Phaddy Boom Baddy SSSSSSIIIIIIIIGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

But then when I hear the thunderous percussion intro of GSOT I thank god that I bought that hippie cd back in 99, ya know the one with Frank on the cover;)

That\'s another one for me.  Though the last couple of times that I\'ve heard it, it\'s been dead on.  It does bother me when new/casual fans latch onto it.  They\'re missing out on so many better songs.

It\'s not that I don\'t like the song.  It\'s just not a song that I\'m always in the mood to hear.  And that feeling tends to get amplified when you know that it\'s going to be about 20 minutes.  Of course I\'m usually into the song again sometime around the "hisssssssssssssss".

Yeah Drew I\'m like that with Buquebus sometimes as well, but then they throwdown the sickest jam ala Uconn 2-20-04 and I\'m just as happy as a whore who just murdered her pimp!! As much as I bad mouth Phaddy, complain etc I have to kind of hush hush, considering I was part of the Phaddy Boom Baddy Chorus.....

Well put Joe.. mirrors my sentiments when I hear Vermont Song. Also not a huge fan of Phaddy or Beef Barley. But, BB can be ser, and, like Drew said, the last few Phaddies I have heard were excellent.

I remember when this first came upon the list.  It\'s actually "Happy Birthday" by Patty S. and Mildred J. Hill (a \'cover\' they have done), not "Happy Birthday" and "Mildred J. Hill" by PFUNK.  And for those interested, here\'s the breakdown of Parliament vs. Funkadelic in these covers.

FUNKADELIC
----------------
Mommy, What\'s a Funkadelic? (Funkadelic, 1970)
Maggot Brain (Maggot Brain, 1971)
Let\'s Make It Last (Cosmic Slop, 1973)
Sexy Ways (Standing On the Verge of Getting It On, 1974)
Good to Your Earhole (Let\'s Take It to the Stage, 1975)
Hardcore Jollies (Hardcore Jollies, 1976)

PARLIAMENT
---------------
Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off This Sucker) (Mothership Connection, 1975)
Night of the Thumpasorous Peoples (Mothership Connection, 1975)

It sure would be nice if people could learn how to cut and paste. Then instead of just posting corrections for this list they can just correct it as they see the errors and then just repost. It really is not that hard and I feel this may keep the list updated seeing as they keep bustin\' out new ones. :)

I was thinking about the whole album, Aja.  It would be fairly mellow, not a good second set, but definitely a ser first set (or a part of a Timmy acoustic).
