Title: Dopapod, Anyone?
Post by: Rickey Roux on December 11, 2010, 06:51:35 pm
I discovered this band about a year ago while searching LMA for The Breakfast\'s performance last Decemeber at Tammany Hall, which, to my knowledge, never surfaced.  A newish instrumental (sorry Yoda) band out of the Boston area that play a mix of rock, funk, fusion and experimental music.  Believe most are Berkeley alum and they know and understand the art of the jam.  They have lots of shows on LMA and have played Wormtown, Strangecreek and The Big Up among other festivals.  I\'ll add these guys to the list of bands I will probably never see along with Oshe and Schleigho.  So glad the Consider The Source tours.  Why are my favorite bands in the Northeast?  SHIT!!!  If anyone cares, here\'s a couple of links.

Saw this band at Bishop\'s Lounge in Northampton last week.

They were terrible. The keyboard player was playing noise and sour notes the whole time. Otherwise simplistic. IMO.

The opening band, The Big Sway, was a whole different story. Tight, rockin\', fun... I thought they should have headlined.

saw \'em open up for Brothers Past after Phish in Hartford this summer.  Didn\'t really think much of them at the time, they certainly didn\'t grab me by the balls.

Haven\'t heard Dopapod, but I got to see Consider the Source a couple weeks ago and they are crazy! Intensity warp 10. I\'d like to see them mix it up a little in terms of tempo, etc, but maybe that\'s because I haven\'t heard them enough. Guy plays a twin guitar thing like Jimmy Page.
