E: Intension
* First time played without \'The Late And The Great\' preceding.
Thanks to Stephengencs for the setlist!

I was only there through hard luck harry, but this was a great little show. All through Language>DMB Alani was head banging right out in front. Brandon said it best when he pulled me aside and said "These songs? Alani going nuts? What year is it, 1999?" There was a definite end to FFT then a little jam started up that went right into OE. People who recognised the lack of Late and the great were going nuts. Then of course, there was the OE itself. Tim rocked the shit out of the song. The jam was so insane, i don\'t even know where to begin to describe it. Def the best live version I\'ve seen of it. Honey butter was only the intro riff before the main theme, so they did the climb and went straight into HLH, similar to the way they used to do GSOT>bugs. I\'ve been waiting for a HLH for several months, so I\'m glad I finally got one. That\'s where I left for the night. Set two looks just as good though.
Happy turkey day!

ya, amazing show.... overexposure definite highlight of first set.... totally mindblowing
the whole second set = ser

great night all around
i thought it was the best theyve sounded as a 3-piece yet. timmy is really starting to figure out how to get te right mix between keys and guitar
happy thanksgiving everyone
-
That was the fire! I was real happy to see Tim pickin up the Strat, which always makes for a rediculous show if he manages not to break a string in the first song :D Right off the bat Future Peek was incredible, absolutely nailed. This has gotta be *the* Future Peek up to this point in history. Right after that Dig was another incredible display of tasteful guitar playin.
EEPT1 was cool but erm I happen to like the end of this song a lot , oh well
Overexposure split up from the Late and the Great was awesome, they brought the absolute heat on both occasions. I don\'t even know what song it was but at one point there was some definite machine gun warfare going on but then I realized it was just Adrian.. HLH + WTF were outstanding, as was the Drunk Monk Bar... Even Rust which seems to me like a song that is still in its early stages of not-quite-reaching-its-potential was made to kick ass anyway thanks to some serious playing. Just the right amount of synth/keys action mixed in with guitar last night too.. awesome
enjoy stuffing and mini-quiche!

I definitely had a Rudy\'s flashback indeed......
Sullys, yet again, proves to be a legendary spot for the band to play. From setlist planning to execution, this was an amazing show all around. The first set was definitely ruled by Drunk Monk and Overexposure. While the second set was about Hard Luck, Ep 1>Late And The Great>Ep 1. Eschers II was originally slated to close the night out of Taboo, but I think the What The Funk was a perfect audible. And the Intension encore was the cherry on top of an amazing sundae of a Wednesday night.....It was really a great site to see all 100+ focused and in tune with the band.
Thanks to all for a great night and a happy thanksgiving to all of you and yours....
Philly>NYC comin up.....Gobble Gobble bitches...

I believe that what I actually said was, Drunk Monk following Language...Alani dancing/slash roaring a foot from the band, what the hell year is this?!" It was one of those, you had to be there kinda things, anyway first set was pretty hot, the boys finally sold me on Rust, and for possibly the first time I didn\'t mind FFT, probably cuz I couldn\'t hear any of the words, but anyway, I think the second set was where the shit really got going, I like when Honey Butter goes into and comes out of songs, it almost seems better that way, normally having not seen a Happy since I can\'t remember, I would\'ve had a problem with it being interrupted, but with the way that everything was pretty much fitting perfectly together, I didn\'t mind, I was rewarded for my patience, and for me it wouldn\'t take anything away from the excitement of hearing the song if they\'d play it a bit more frequently, but whatever, once again, Intension was a perfect encore, overall a fine show.
-
Wow. Where to begin? Woke up this morning with Intension running through my head, and it seems to be stuck there. What a great show! Rust definitetly caught my attention, don\'t believe I had heard that one before. Looked around for Jocelyn during HLH, but alas no sighting. Not completing the Escher\'s was not nice at all. Taboo was scorching hot. Adrian\'s opera singing during DMB was a riot. Really hope to see Sully\'s become a somewhat regular spot, and for sure a Turkey Tour tradition. Good seeing everyone, have a great Turkey Day!

long live the breakfast!!!

anyone remember what the food for thought was????
-
anyone remember what the food for thought was????
there wasn\'t one... would that be considered an incomplete FFT...... maybe Tim said something the vocoder but i can\'t say for sure
-
anyone remember what the food for thought was????
HedieJedie and I thought Tim was mumbling something like "gobble gobble"...but we were hungry for turkey.
That show was dirr-tay. I will not be able to rock out again til Providence, so last night was a great show to hold me over.
-
yeah, i got a text from gavin w/ gobble noted during fft. sounds like a fun one, can\'t wait for prov.
-
AWESOME show!!! The guys were def. on fire last night. Have to hear it again, but dare I say, this show may be in my top 3 since the trio arrangement. Glad that my brother was up to witness it!!!!
-
:banrock:Awesome show, as always. Sully\'s has once again proven to be one of the best venues in CT. The crowd was completely into the music, and the lights/sound were perfect. I loved Ronnie\'s solo during WTF, & Intension was a great encore - IMO, the live version of this song rules vs. the filtered, muffled sounds on the album. I can\'t wait to get my hands on a recording of this show, since I missed most of the first set (oops).

I would have to agree. While I do like the song for what it is, when they broke into it tonight I felt it was a letdown.
Speaking of stat, somebody get me a recording of this show, stat!

Sully\'s has once again proven to be one of the best venues in CT.
What!?!?!
This venue did nothing other than prove to me how lucky I\'ve been to have seen the Breakfast at Toad\'s, Daniel St, and Century Lounge this year. Those are venues. Sully\'s is a dump.
Still, as always, I\'m glad I went. Walked in during Rust. Hadn\'t heard this one since... I don\'t know maybe 1,000th? Had to think a second to realize what I was hearing.
I was afraid this one was shelved, glad to hear again.

Best vibes ever! The bartenders & bouncers are relaxed & happy to help, the h3tty crowd digs the music, and I love the heated back patio! I will say, though, that it\'s way too crowded during Breakfast shows - trying to move from one side of the room to the other is brutal!!!
-
Sully\'s is great. Breakfast is great.
:Thread Closed:

First show for me in a while and a good one to be sure. Was curious how quick I would be able to get into my happy place. Didn\'t take long. Definitely shades of some f--king rockin days gone by. Nice to hear Ep 1
-
matt, always a pleasure to see ya....

Don\'t ever, ever complain about this!
What does h3tty mean? Really someone tell me.

Sorry Jocelyn, but I have to disagree. If a venue is consistently too crowded during Bfast shows they have leveled off at that venue and they need to play a bigger place in the vicinity of said crowded venue.
I thought Sully\'s was already on the "too small to play" list. Guess not.
-
<-waiting for the day that I can\'t cut across the main floor at msg because the croud is too packed.
Not holding my breath, but I am waiting none the less.

...why does everyone have to whine about things? Like, isn\'t the wookie way "all about" tight crowds, rubbin\' up against bros and sisses, feelin\' the group vibe man, smellin\' the other wooks sweat and not really caring where and how you see your favorite band? Trust me, "brozephs" and others, when the Breakfast starts playing big places, you will all long for the the days where you can see exactly what notes are being played, the expressions on their faces when they hit a peak, the satisified looks on their faces when they see how much we all like it, and being able to get a close look at Adrian when he\'s soloing. And now for another totally unrelated comment, if you tards are gonna talk like wooks, ya gotta start acting the part a little more, and what\'s with the avid "pointers" who look around to see if people see them pointing to just about every note, and then when they see another "pointer" pointing at the same time, oh forget it muthafuckas!!, they look at eachother in what I can only construe as some type of weird amazement and then they nod like, hell yeah bro, I know this song too, man. Just something I happened to notice and find amusing. Hopefully this didn\'t outrage or offend any of you, peace you heady fucks!

I\'m all about Sullys and the small venues. Century, Mill St., Sully\'s, Iron Horse, Stone Church, Metronome, Mezzanotte... these are the places to be! I\'ve already decided since I can\'t make every show anyway, to definitely aim to make those held at the more intimate locals. In my experience anyway there definitely seems to be a correlation between the size of the venue and how much I enjoyed the show (a direct and reverse correlation).
I couldn\'t be happier to enjoy Breakfast at a small venue with $10 ticket prices, lax policies allowing me to go get lifted in the parking lot, and right up close so I can stare in amazement at whichever one of these musicians happens to be blowing my mind at the moment.
Much talk on this forum about when is Breakfast gonna blow up and pack big concert halls??? But after a show like this at Sullys I have to wonder... is this what anyone really wants...

i\'m sure the band wouldn\'t mind it. i wouldn\'t mind that much to hunt down "the pack" in a venue with 100\'s to 1000\'s of heads

thats what i want. this band deserves some recognition. i want them to get bigger, not stay the same size and fade out, without ever really getting the spotlight that they deserve. they have paid their dues playing small bars. hopefully they will continue growing. i think they definately are getting bigger, it just takes time.
-
ren, what the fuck are you even talking about??
-
I dunno, is playing to a packed house @ Sully\'s really "paying their dues" ??
I mean, they get paid right? They seem to be having a great time on stage and the crowd is sure diggin\' it. And playing regularly at Iron Horse, Stone Church, and some of these other venues they frequent isn\'t exactly a sign of being unsuccessful.
I guess as an aspiring musician myself, I\'d hope to never consider playing for 75 or 100 or 200 raging dedicated fans part of paying the dues. That\'s something to live for!
I just hope the band feels the same way and they will be able to make peace with whatever level of "success" they are destined for.
-

After seeing Gov\'t Mule last night at the oakdale, all Robyn and I could keep thinking was how cool it would be to be able to see PB up on that stage!!! The combination of the superior sound, lights, equipment, crowd, etc. is something that this band deserves. And the paycheck that comes with it would, I\'m sure, make the guys very happy. The band would love to be able to tour without having to have second jobs to support themselves!!! This will not happen having to keep playing to 200 people.
-
ren=clueless
-
I didn\'t know they had 2nd jobs, that blows.
-
The Breakfast is destined to play the same small venues it has for the past 8 years unless they get themselves some fucking management.
Not the owner of a small studio somewhere in CT.
Vic does what he can from what is posted on this site but let\'s be real this band needs a fulltime manager that can help and coordinate with the booking agency and the grassroots team.
They consistently play to less than packed houses in their own stomping grounds.
If The Breakfast is not selling out at least every other show in NE by now it is not going to happen in the near future.
Luckily for us the band seems to be content playing these small "intimate" venues and making jaunts across the country once in awhile.
Could be worse, they could have packed it in by now. They are determined to keep playing no matter what it seems so get it while ya can and stop bitchin\' about venue size. Any venue they are playing right now is the right size as long as you can get in.
I didn\'t know they had 2nd jobs, that blows.
Are You Ser? Why do you think they are weekend warriors when it comes to playing shows? Tim is the only one that plays music exclusively to make his living. Thus so many Timmy solo shows.

Ya I was ser I don\'t really know these dudes that well aside from random greetings and brief chill sesh.. employment isn\'t really a topic that has come up ... I did assume that they were probably raking in a few hondos a piece per show though, which really doesn\'t seem too bad to me if they rock 2-3 shows a week.
:newbie:
-
i see 20dollar bills getting passed out after shows.
def no hundos.
-
Does anyone know what portion of the door actually goes to the band?
Does it vary from venue to venue, or is there a general percentage that goes to the band after the club & the production team get their cut?
If those boys are only making 20s after the shows they\'re putting out, we def need to get more (paying) people in!
And the paycheck that comes with it would, I\'m sure, make the guys very happy. The band would love to be able to tour without having to have second jobs to support themselves!!! This will not happen having to keep playing to 200 people.
Especially when there\'s 200 people at a show but 80 on a guest list...*runs away*:out:

playing to a packed house at Sully\'s maybe isn\'t paying their dues but when they are playing doozies at small bars in the north east (Rochester & Utica recently) that is paying their dues. this band has been around for 8+ years and i just think it would be frustrating to have grown so much musically and so little in following.
After seeing Gov\'t Mule last night at the oakdale, all Robyn and I could keep thinking was how cool it would be to be able to see PB up on that stage!!! thats what i\'m saying. they fucking deserve it!
I still have the faith in broseph that they will get big. it will just take some more time.
and as leith mentioned, some management might be key.

moxie epoxy is a great start to the trio\'s success. ive been playing this album, along with some recent shows, to my friends and they are all digging it. each show ive been to this year ive brought newbies along and all of them are eagerly looking forward to their next experience. i live in upstate new york so ive been lucky enough to see them play frequently this year but also havent seen a packed house yet. i am really enjoying the intimate setting at shows but i cant wait til the day i am bumping elbows with folks up front to a sold out crowd! until then ill keep bringing people out and spreading the word.
