This tour is turing out like phish\'s 99 summer tour where ever night they\'re playing a new cover. Police, rush, now george harrison... has there been a show where a new cover hasn\'t been played?

Oh yeah, And I was just noticing from the last few setlists, has PB been playing significantly shorter shows lately, or just not taking setbreaks and playing only slightly shorter 1 set shows?
... yeah... I think that sentence makes sense...

I think its because of the double bill. This tour isnt a band opening for a band, its two bands sharing the bill. They\'re probably splitting the time right down the middle.

the iron horse is weird.. they always do early shows and late shows.. last night, the early show didn\'t get out till around 9:30, and the DOORS for pb "the breakfast" didn\'t open till well after 10.. nero played first, and pb "the breakfast" only had till 1:00, so that at least explains last night...

Last night was a whole shows worth in one set. Adrian was an animal...fukin nuttts!!! Next time, they should play the Iron Horse, but also book themselves for the dinner crowd (which could easily be made up of us Breakfast fans), so we get a longer show. One hell of a night...and since they filled the room to capacity and people were having a tough time getting in the place, i guess PB are \'sell outs\' now.

so anyways.. last night\'s show, although short, was fan-fucking-tastic. instant sellout.. there were tons of old school
pb "the breakfast" fans there, it wasn\'t even funny.. people were coming out of the woodwork like you would not believe.. people we haven\'t seen in ages... al z & lauren, bonnano, tim, jessie, jp :lol:, the man who brought pb "the breakfast" to butterfield (can\'t remember his name), etc.. the crowd had a lot to do with how much fun this show was.. oh, and the band did pretty good too. :)
fun time at the hangar beforehand, though it really did a number on me.. lisa has said it before, and said it again last night - best-dressed award goes to al & lauren... couldn\'t agree more.. looking sharp as always, although al had to endure some austin powers comments throughout the night. :D

here\'s hoping that a lot of this old school crew got their groove back last night and will start becoming regulars again. great to see everyone!

I don\'t know about short, in Albany even w/ Nero playin roughly a 45 min opener they played for about 150 min(I only know cause my MiniDisc barely ran out), for a bar on a Thurs night not too shabby

That would be cool, but then tickets would cost twice as much. The $13 they were charging last night was high enough as it was. I cannot believe they were charging so much considering the amount of time the band was given to play.

How old a song is Za ?
I think it is pretty cool that the band is pulling out a different cover each night though these latest covers seem to go against what I have heard is the bands preference to tackle "tough" covers.
I have not seen any "sit-ins" between bands, anyone know the reason for this? Is there a reason? Just wondering because a Run Like Hell by Nero w/ Tim would be intense.

Review: 1/31/4 Iron Horse; Northampton, MA
Striking irony in the fact that I was listening to Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five the whole way to the show, because this show was old-school! It had all the flavor and faces of the glory Amherst/Northampton shows of old. The jamming was tight and the crowd ate it all up. Everyone who got in loved it from the first note. As Ron said to me afterwards, "It\'s great how in Northampton there\'s no battle trying to win people over. They already know us and everyone\'s a fan. It takes all the pressure away." There were a lot of of old Butterfield and Baker faces, people who made PB what it is. Mooboo\'s Voodoo turned the place into that engulfing feeling of people who know and love PB celebrating the band. That\'s what UMass shows are all about. Jumping Jack Flash kept everything rockin\', as did the Taboot encore. The room is great and has great sound, and was stuffed just like the beautiful yet ominous 9/14/1 show. That\'s 2 for 2 for great shows at the Iron Horse, only this time there was no air of impending doom about the crowd. Best show I\'ve seen since 2 Pearl Street shows ago. A great time was had by all!

Personal notes: Took 11 hours and 8 vehicles to get to the show! Starting from West Palm Beach, FL at 9:30am I went: car, plane, train, plane, bus, train, train, car. Fun times. And a huge shout out to all the old UMass faces at the show. These are people who put PB on the map at UMass and beyond. We used to see them 3-5 times a week, and when they came to us it was the nuttiest. Al Z, Lauren, Jay Gould (the man who gave PB their first show, along with Mike "Biggie" Cook), Bonanno, Hendron, Krista Ferrante, Jessie, Sean, Tim Johnson and Sarah, these are big names in PB lore. Great to see everyone at a show again! Iron Horse has been incredible both times PB has been there, two total sellouts, great shows and thick vibes. I\'m tacking on my review of the other Iron Horse show, as the show is worth revisiting. Thanks everyone for being there!

Well guys, the world threw absolutely everything it had at us to
challenge this statement. Tuesday was the worst day in American
history, and Wednesday was the worst day in PB history. [Ed. Note: PB had ALL of their gear and van stolen in Boston on 9/12/1.] It would have been perfectly understandable if the show did not go on, or if
nobody showed up. But in a true showing of determination, positive
spirit, and a need for love, the show went on, the people came in
droves, and the result was a fantastic night complete with that
unstoppable UMass magic.
Emotions have been high for this show for a long time. All the fans
in western Mass have been foaming at the mouth since Baker Quadfest,
eager to pick up where we left off. The egroup went through an
emotional morality debate relative to this show. The Amherst promo
team hasn\'t stopped talking about it since school started.
Personally, the excitement around here, particularly from new fans,
has gotten me up in the morning over the past few weeks. And if this
weren\'t enough to make this an extraordinarily emotional show, it was
almost every fan\'s first activity since the horrors of Tuesday, and
the band\'s first activity since the horrors of Wednesday.
As if I weren\'t already jumping out of my skin on the way to the show
last night, when we pulled up there were 50 people waiting outside
for the doors to open. This completely put me over the top, because
50 people outside before the show means sellout by the end of the
show. As it turns out the place was packed, but it was even more
than that. People actually needed this show, and you could feel it.
The feelings weren\'t all positive by any means, but they were potent.
Spunk was awesome as an opener. I was hoping for this and Food for
Thought as well as lots of newer stuff for all the UMass people who
haven\'t seen the band since May. We got both, of course. Great
poem, Tim. Attraction and Beef have become Umass classics, both
frequent tunes at Butterfield. Rufus was needed around here too, so
I was excited for it. Pretty standard as far as Rufus goes, but I
can only imagine how hard it is to play with any sort of sustained
emotion when Armageddon stares you in the face and you\'re using
someone else\'s gear. Awesome drum duel w/ Adrian and TZ, and the
roar from the crowd was deafening after we all sang happy birthday!
Then Tim decides "might as well finish the song" (Language) but
instead of going right back into it there came an off-the-cuff heavy
funk jam that was awesome. It was only about 2 minutes long, but
just the way they went from nothing to this jam and then from this
jam back into the Language reprise was just fantastic. The Uncle
Sammy jam was cool, and God Bless America was an excellent finishing
touch, as well as a good way to play past curfew and not get heaved
mid-song. (I\'ve seen Iron Horse do it before.) The show was way too
short, although Iron Horse regulars are used to this. If you have an
opener, there is no way you\'re going to play more than 2 hours at
Iron Horse, that\'s just the way it goes. I know it was tough for
some of you who are used to later curfews and 3 hours a night of
PB.
The show had ended, but for a lot of us the night was by no means
over. I really want to thank everyone who came over to my house to
hang out. UMass crew, Joce, Todd, Curtis, Freddie, Fran, Jule, Josh,
Josias, Tim, Adrian, Ron: I really needed to be with a lot of people
I like, and what better than to have people I like from around New
England all come together. It was our first real party at the house
in 3.5 months of living here, which made me and my roomies really
happy. The fire was great! It was the first time I have talked
about this week and not been frustrated with everyone else\'s opinions
and assumptions. I really admired everyone\'s words and needed that
conversation, thank you. But besides that, it was just awesome
raging until full daylight with the best music fans in New England.
You are all welcome anytime. Once again my # is 413-549-9906. I am
so happy you could all be here.
So goes a memorable PB night. Stay strong, keep listening, keep
loving, and we\'ll be just fine.

thanks for the review wolf. i just happened to have the 9/14/01 show on the hard drive i have been trying to clean up today so i am going to post it on archive.org before i delete it.

I have not seen any "sit-ins" between bands, anyone know the reason for this? Is there a reason? Just wondering because a Run Like Hell by Nero w/ Tim would be intense.
leith....i was talking to dave (the guitar player) from nero about this and he said most likely it would happen when they get somewhere with a bigger stage....the iron horse is very small..great room though

definately a sick show, but like everyone already said, it was short. especially compared to new years which was the last show i was at. also, it was shitty waiting to get in. i guess i shoulda worn more than a sweater, oh well.

i\'m glad tb isn\'t limiting themselves by only playing "tough" covers (like yem). covers are all about a band adding their own style to a song written by someone else. i think that tb has enough of their own style to rock out just about any song. anyways, jumping jack flash is a great song and it was a sick cover.

One of the worst, uneasy moods before that Iron Horse show...thousands gone in more ways than one, yet deffinatley an enjoyable night of music.

The Iron Horse entertainment group has a virtual monopoly on the local music scene owns all the venues in Noho (Calvin, pearl st, Iron horse). They love charging top dollar and seemed to get it for most shows.
The show was great but I was so tired once i got there. Everytime I\'ve been there, they have left us out in the cold for much longer than anyone could have anticipated. PB, excuse me, TB, usually plays there in the winter so we all freeze. Most places want people there early to maximize alcohol sales. The Iron horse has that tiny doorway for both the patrons and the entertainers to enter and exit from.
