DATES SET FOR BELOVED JAM FESTIVAL
The 13th annual Gathering of the Vibes announced the dates for the 2008 edition today. The four-day event will take place July 31st thru August 3rd at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut. On sale dates for tickets will be announced soon. No lineup announcements yet but hopefully soon. Last year\'s event featured established icons like Bob Weir and Ratdog and Buddy Guy as well as a healthy sampling of emerging bands like Assembly of Dust and U-Melt. It\'s likely this year\'s Gathering will dip into the same mix.

Vibes 2007 was such an excellent time, I will most definitely be there!
Certainly the one thing that would makes Vibes 2008 even better would be to see The Breakfast on a main stage.

Yeah that was a pretty pointless post. Just like this one.
And this one. I maybe should take a shower right now. But I don\'t know if I want to. I haven\'t taken one for two days so I really should. My hair is greasy. It\'s cold in my house, so getting out of the shower will be unpleasant. I have good hot water, so taking shower would probably be pretty nice.

:awwyeah: sooo true! There were some acts at GOTV last year that we could have done without... these guys are so much about playing good music it\'s a shame there\'s not more fans able to hear them live! The Solar stage last year was a great opportunity to see/hear the band (& Matt\'s first show) but it\'d be nice to make it to the main stage this year... :chin:

I just hope they aren\'t on Sunday again. After 3 days of back to back mind expansion and walking 5 miles back and forth along the beach I was too beat and dirty/sweaty to even stand up for Breakfast @ Vibes last year.
IMO Breakfast should have played before P-Funk / DBB and dropped their own brand of funk.

So apparently tickets go on sale today (3/11) I think I\'ll be heading to this. Didn\'t know that Zappa plays Zappa was on the bill, I\'m really looking forward to that. I\'ve heard nothing but good things.
and of course it\'s always fun to see DBB. :)

:( I was really hoping the Breakfast would be back again this year. :chin: maybe they\'ll play on the main stage instead of the solar stage?! Either way, I\'m going whether they play or not. This festival is way too close to home to miss! :D

Well there is really only 3 bands I would even bother to catch playing on the solar stage as it stands right now.
knowing how long a walk it was last year I don\'t think I will be at the solar stage at all this year
Nate Wilson Band (Nate is awesome. But will catch AOD on the main stage)
Andrew Hoover (singer song writer acoustic guitar CT Native. He is Very very good)

* = Maybe. Fuzz & carries new project. I liked this project much much more than Rolla. However not sure it will get me to walk from the main area.
Bummed about no Breakfast. Always nice to see everyone at this fest.
Friday seems like my favorite day so far. Saturday is eh, and Sunday folks will be clearing out like mad. Sam Bush is always awesome tho
The lineup is decent. and I will be there regardless.

Does anyone know if there is still a chance of The Breakfast being added? It seems to me that the announcement came really late last year, so I was thinking that the same might happen this year. Maybe we could make a last ditch email attempt to get them added :shrug:

Vibes lineup doesnt seem quite as excellent as last year. Notable omission being The Breakfast and Ratdog.
But it was a great festival last year and I will definitely be there this year. Breakfast is at Up North Fest with Ratdog the next weekend so I\'ll be up there too.

The Bridge is on the Solar stage, seen them once or twice with the guys, I remember liking them.

Even if the bands don\'t jump out at you like they might have last year... Vibes on the beach is still guaranteed to be an incredible time.
I\'m definitely missing the Ratdog + Breakfast ticket at Vibes this year, but screw it, its just an excuse to go to Up North the next weekend :D

i\'m heading in early on saturday to catch phil, bill kreutzmann, gordo, taj mahal and whoever else is on the schedule that day.

yeah..it\'s frustrating that the guys aren\'t on the line up since they\'ve played the festival before, it\'s in their home state, etc etc etc ....
i did hear something about dangalees playing on sunday with some side project or other band. don\'t know much about that though.

i should be there most of friday day before i head to irving plaza at night...then hopefully back to the campground for some latenight shenanigans. i\'ll be working one of the beer tents saturday/sunday afternoon...i\'m not sure how heady beer hookups will work, but if i can swing it, i will. i\'m surprised by how excited i am for this

Been onsite since this morning. Things look good. Stage setup is much better this year.
If you feel like hooking up you can find me in the taper section most of the weekend.
Should be a goodtime.
