I know it\'s waaaay early but my tickets to the annual San Diego exhibition game just came in the mail !
Lakers will be playing Charlotte on the 23rd.
Well Phil seems to think the team can win 50 if "everything goes as planned"(said w/ that Phil smirk). Kareem is FINALLY an active member of the Laker family again which can only bode well for us.
Go Lakers!
-
good timing, I was about to start this myself. Celtic Pride, muthafucka!
-
LOS ANGELES LAKERS!!! Represent, represent.
-
Game On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
That\'s one! Man this team has a Looooong way to go.
-
Great game. Tremendous effort by the Lakers. Outstanding performances by Kobe and Smush Parker. Horrendous showings by Mihm and Odom. Devean George\'s 3\'s were key. And the Kings are 0-2. Pacific Division title is the goal.
-
Well after a game that they could have had if they were a bit more experienced, they came out tonight and made sure this game w/ Denver would not come down to a last shot. Great Ball movement. Mihm was actually a factor in the middle. Smush is gonna be real good in this system. Odom played REAL well. Bench players scored. THIS IS LAKER BASKETBALL!!! Fun game tonight Happy Birthday Lamar!
-
Another game where they blew a big lead on a team worse than them which @ this point is not many.
Lucky call for Kobe @ the end of the game and luckily it was the Jazz the Lakers were playing as they won in OT.
Smush is coming along well though that was a big +.
-
More of a Celtics fan. Like any other sport, I watch players now-in-days more then teams.
Basketball more so then any other sport, I tend to watch the last 2-3 minutes of the game. If it is a close game, then all the excitement is showcased then, if it is a blowout then I know who is going to win. No sense in watching all the "fluff"
-
Well since my current address is Oakland, I gotta hand it to the Warriors on a successful debut to the 2005-2006 season. I\'m going to see my first NBA game when the Celtics roll into town this month.
-
leith/pitch - if you guys don\'t already have it, amazon has the Lakers Dynasty Series 5-DVD set on sale for $24.97 (62% off):
they also have the Bulls and Celtics sets on sale for retarded prices:
i have the lakers set already, but i\'m thinking about getting the other 2 based on the price alone..
-
Dave as a Laker fan you should not be buying ANY celtics merch. Come ON GUY!!!
-
Didn\'t everyone in the media blast Kobe for supposedly "outing" Shaq from L.A.?
Funny how all these ass-kissing suits turn a blind eye when Shaq practically gets Stan Van Gundy fired, even though the Heat reached the Eastern Conference finals last year and are still one of the NBA\'s best teams. And it\'s also bizarre how they don\'t kill Riley like they kill Phil for "only winning with superstars."
Guess you have to choose your enemies based on who it\'s trendy to praise and who it\'s trendy to criticize.
You won\'t be criticizing the Los Angeles Lakers today for posting the biggest win of the season in Dallas behind a ridiculously clutch three from #8.
Also, Dave, thanks for looking out with the low-priced merch. Make sure you enjoy those highlights from the 1984 and 1991 NBA Finals when you spraypaint your living room walls green and red.
-
Thank you for the opening Pitch. I thought the same thing when I found out Riles was comin\' back. Shaq is a fuckin\' jerk. He played Kobe for some mad cash and punked one of the best owners in the business while doing so. He is still fat AND missing games just like he always does.
Kobe is still clutch. Shaq still sux!

He\'s a fucking cop now too.

Yeah just when I thought he could not be MORE of a tool, he puts on a badge.

5-1 Road trip. Team is coming together. I hope.

Just another Laker Victory.

you realize that you have began to talk to yourself in here, right?

you realize that you have began to talk to yourself in here, right?
No Blackie, Pitch and now you have chipped in. I just keep postin\' to make sure Peck is up to date. Games are on late out there and the poor guy needs SOME sleep.lol
-
I guess you no longer are talking to yourself.
I gave up on professional hoops a long time ago. Now it\'s basically just watching players, even that I have neglected to do.
The only basketball I enjoy these days is March Madness.

KOBE is on FIRE tonight. So far 48 points and it\'s still the 3rd quarter!! Mavkiller!!
End of the 3rd Quarter Kobe 62 The Mavericks 61. Kobe has a new career high and will probably sit the 4th out. People better get ready for this team. They are getting better each game.
-
It was just reported that Phil offered to let Kobe go back in late in the 4th quarter if he wanted to get the alltime Laker record of 71 in a game by Elgin Baylor. He declined.
That is tight.
-
62! On 18-of-31 no less.
Two straight wins over the Mavs. Team on the rise.

He went to the line 25 times also making I believe 22 of them. Also had 8 reb. and 3 steals. The big thing was the team feeding him within the triangle. Kobe just had one of those games. Only 1.5 games out. This year is shaping up to be real real fun!!
-
Mark Stein has a great blurb on ESPN:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime-051221
This was Kobe, knowing that a Mavericks coach named Avery Johnson would swarm him 5-on-1 after Bryant scored 43 points in Dallas just last week, inflicting offensive destruction in a manner that could only remind you of one other guy.
It\'s sacrilege to some, I know, but you can consider this another step in Bryant\'s bid to become the first of the NBA\'s many Next Jordans to actually come close to matching No. 23.
If not?
At the very least, let\'s drop the pleas for more passes to Chris Mihm and Laron Profit and admit that your appetite for watching Kobe launch has been restored.
-
Road Warriors these Lakers are becoming. 16 pt win tonight over the Magic 104-88. Bring on Riles and the fatman on Christmas!
-
OK OK I give up Lamar Odom needs to fuckin\' go. If he is not gonna play why put him in. He lines up wrong for important plays, does not take the open shot...
He plays alright defense but we got him to complement Kobe and it just is not working.
-
Shaq finally shook Kobe\'s hand.
It\'s about time the fatman put this shit to rest. At least in public. ;)
Let\'s go Lake Show!!!!!!
Bynum showing his potential. Shaq showing what an ass he can be.
-
shaq\'s a monster. kobe\'s a rapist. get the facts.
-
shaq\'s a fatman. kobe\'s an alleged rapist. get the facts.
There fixed it w/ facts.

anyone see antonio davis go into the stands at the end of the knicks game last night?
Davis enters stands for wife; Gordon nails gamewinner in OT
CHICAGO (AP) -- The moment Antonio Davis dashed up into the stands, everyone was thinking the same thing: another NBA brawl.
Yet this was different. Concerned his wife was in trouble, the New York Knicks forward reached her in the seats but remained calm, never took a swing at anybody and willingly walked away when security arrived.
Still the scene evoked memories of last season\'s brawl between fans and Pacers players in Detroit and overshadowed a thrilling finish to a wild game.
Ben Gordon hit a jumper at the buzzer and scored 32 points Wednesday night to give the Chicago Bulls a 106-104 overtime victory over the Knicks.
Davis later explained why he climbed into the seats during a timeout in overtime.
"I witnessed my wife being threatened by a man that I learned later to be intoxicated," Davis said in a statement issued after the game. "I saw him touch her, and I know I should not have acted the way I did, but I would have felt terrible if I didn\'t react. There was no time to call security. It happened too quickly."
Davis ascended about 10 rows of seats to reach his wife. There was no physical confrontation after he got there, but several people were pointing and shouting for a few moments before security arrived.
Davis, president of the NBA players\' association, returned to the bench and took his seat before being ejected with 1:04 left.
United Center security remained in the stands for a few minutes more, where other fans appeared to be explaining what they had seen. Guards in suits and yellow jackets then escorted a group of people from the area.
Knicks coach Larry Brown said Davis went into the stands because he saw his wife "falling back."
Brown was coaching the Pistons during the November 2004 brawl in Detroit. A black eye for the NBA, the fight led to criminal charges and lengthy suspensions for Ron Artest, Jermaine O\'Neal and Stephen Jackson.
But Brown was adamant that this situation should be viewed differently.
"Come on, that\'s his wife," Brown said. "That\'s entirely different. I was worried about Kendra. That\'s why he went in the stands, he saw her falling back.
"That thing that happened in the stands had nothing to do with the two teams. That\'s a man concerned about his family."
No arrests had been made as of late Wednesday night, police said.
Gordon hit his winning shot after New York\'s Jamal Crawford tied it at 104 with a 3-pointer with 4.6 seconds left. After a timeout, Gordon caught the inbounds pass near the top of the key and hit a jumper over Trevor Ariza.
New York\'s Maurice Taylor and Chicago\'s Chris Duhon also were ejected after a scuffle in overtime, a few minutes before Davis went into the stands.
"He took care of family first," Taylor said. "He\'s got his wife and young kids up there."
Asked about Davis\' demeanor in the locker room after the game, Taylor said: "He was upset, but he was clear headed. Everyone watches where their family is."
A few minutes before Davis went into the stands, Taylor ran across the lane and knocked down Duhon, who got up and shoved Taylor. That resulted in a double technical, and the two were soon ejected.
"He set a screen on me," Taylor said. "I got the foul. It\'s basketball. Whatever he wanted to do after that was to his judgment."
Duhon called it a "cheap shot."
"I don\'t think he made any basketball move to get around me," he said.
Gordon hit 14 of 28 shots, none bigger than the last one. He missed a shot at the end of regulation, but converted in overtime after taking the inbounds pass from Kirk Hinrich.
Gordon, who grew up just north of New York City in Mount Vernon, also beat the Knicks with a buzzer-beater at Madison Square Garden last season on Martin Luther King Day.
Hinrich finished with 18 points, eight assists, eight rebounds and three steals, while Andres Nocioni and Darius Songaila scored 14 apiece.
Crawford led the Knicks with 19 points, while Quentin Richardson added 17. Stephon Marbury sat out with a sprained left shoulder, ending a streak of 280 consecutive games played.
Davis, who used to play for the Bulls, had 16 points and nine rebounds, but Eddy Curry struggled in his homecoming. He finished with 11 points and four rebounds in his first game against Chicago and missed the final seven-plus minutes of regulation after colliding with Gordon.
The Bulls were ahead 102-99 after Songaila hit two free throws with 51.1 seconds left in overtime. Crawford went 2-of-3 from the line after being fouled by Andres Nocioni to make it a one-point game. After Nocioni converted two foul shots with 8.3 seconds left, Crawford\'s 3 tied it at 104.
Game notes
Artest, Jackson, O\'Neal and teammates Anthony Johnson and David Harrison were sentenced to a year of probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor assault charges stemming from the fight at The Palace of Auburn Hills. They also were ordered to perform community service and pay fines. ... Marbury injured his shoulder during the fourth quarter of Monday\'s loss to Minnesota, and is unsure when he\'ll return.
funniest thing was, he runs into the stands, and while he\'s going up there, they start cranking \'Everybody Dance Now\' over the PA..

Uh Don\'t know if any of you are watching but Kobe is putting on a clinic 79 pts right now. Yeah it\'s the Raptors but NO ONE CAN SCORE LIKE KOBE NO ONE!!!!!!!
-

I just noticed the 81 points announced and wasn\'t sure if someone made a typo.
Crazy!
When was the last time someone scored that many points?
-
Kobe Bryant scored a staggering 81 points -- the second-highest total in NBA history -- and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors 122-104 Sunday night.
With the fans at Staples Center chanting "MVP! MVP!" Bryant made two free throws with 43.4 seconds remaining for his final points, putting him behind only Wilt Chamberlain on the all-time scoring list.
Chamberlain scored 100 points for Philadelphia against the New York Knicks at Hershey, Pa., on March 2, 1962. His second-highest total was 78 against the Lakers in three overtimes on Dec. 8, 1961.

Phil just said he has NEVER seen a performance like this EVER. If ya do not know he used to coach this guy w/ the initials M.J.

Bryant: 28-of-46
The others: 14-of-42
Sure wasn\'t holding my breath for Von Wafer to lead the rally, down 18. Lakers WIN.

ball hog
You have NO idea what you are talking about. Did you watch the game? They were down and then the Lakers started playing some tenacious D. This opened up shots for Kobe. The team fed him the ball w/o him calling for it. When someone is that hot you would be a fool not to feed him. THEN Lamar had to egg him on telling him he couldn\'t get 60. Kobe realized he had 52 @ that point so why not go for 60 ? He was that hot. The Raptors coach said he threw everything he could @ Kobe and Kobe flat out beat it all. Ball Hog ? NO just an amazing performance!!

he took more shots then like 8 other players combined. that rapes the shit outta the white little definition of "ball hog".
-
If he was demanding the ball I would agree with you.
If there were a player on the team even close to his caliber I would agree with you.
If Phil did not encourage it I would agree with you.
Guess what?
-
okay he can score like mike, but NOBODY can run crew like mike
Kobe also doesn\'t seem to have half the class of Jordan. Why do you think the guy is still selling more shoes and gear than any other name in the game?
Aside from a great b-ball game, Kobe seems like quite the douchbag.

You like everyone else always want to forget that Jordan was basically driven out of the NBA in his 1st retirement due to his gambling.
Oh and the affair he had is quite forgotten also.
Kobe a douchebag? No more than Jordan was.

This has nothing to do with private affairs, my statement is regards to the way he interacts (like a pompous bitch) with the public. Did Jordan act like a cocky jerk 90% of the time? You can see the a-hole in his eyes, don\'t pretend like it\'s not there.
Leith = Kobe\'s cocksniffer extraordinaire ;) !!

That is plain bullshit. Kobe interacts with the public as much as Jordan did and that is not much. You have a fuzzy memory or you are too young to remember if you think Jordan was all lovey dovey w/ the media or the public. He just had a better publicity agent than Kobe. Jordan was one of the most arrogent(sp?) athletes ever. You know most of the players that played w/ him hated him. Wonder why?
Get your facts straight kid. You may play a mean game of basketball but your knowledge of NBa history and it\'s players is severly lacking!!

Jordan took the NBA finals 3 years in a row the first time around with not much more talent than Kobe has on the Lakers now i dont think. There is a huge difference in being a single successful player who scores 81 points all by himself running a team little over .500, and a player who could effortlessly, probably score as many points as he wants, but makes a mediocre group of players fucking Champions.
p.s. the lakers are worse than the clippers, i find that somehow amusing
-
on my personal douchbag scale kobe rates a good bit higher than jordan. i want to talk about all the rest that jordan did but kobe\'s done a lot of that also. he did have shaq but pippen was considered in the top ten at least during the bulls run. IMO jordan has tons more class but kobe is absolutely amazing!

I am not saying Kobe is better than Jordan. He\'s not. Yet.
However you forget that Jordan also had one of the best complements to his game in a guy often overlooked. uh Scottie Pippen. Those Chicago teams had plenty of talent. Such short memories. Yeah Jordan was great but still an asshole.
oh and as far as being worse than the Clips. Post @ the end of the year and see if that still applies. I doubt it will.
-
isnt Lamar Odom supposed to be Kobe\'s Pippen? same exact size/shape/type of player. sure couldve confused me if he had a flattop early 90s afro.
-
Get your facts straight kid. You may play a mean game of basketball but your knowledge of NBa history and it\'s players is severly lacking!!
Unlike most people, I go out and play rather than pretend that my watching/overanalysis translates into athleticism.
I give you credit on calling me out on my NBA knowledge, given that I never watched a b-ball game till 2 years ago (and haven\'t yet seen one this year), though I do remember a more professional Jordan (in comparison to Kobe).
Can\'t wait to play with you again next time you\'re in town, though we need to find a court with an electrical outlet so we can blast Breakfast courtside.
-

That IS why they got him AND hired Scottie as a special advisor.
Thing is Odom sux! Mark my words if he ever plays to his potential. The rest of the league is fucked.

To quote Happy Gilmore, "Gold Jacket, Green Jacket, who gives a shit?" Bottom line: MJ=The greatest ever. Kobe=most talented player in the NBA over the last five-six years. Won 3 rings with the "help" of Shaquille O\'Neal and a plethora of great role players. Both had Dr. Phil, so that\'s a wash. Both had/have the triangle O. Don\'t act like Mike had the greatest collection of players around him either. Ho Grant was a solid PF, but far from the best. The rest (Besides Scottie) were decent ballplayers who played selflessly as a club is supposed to under a great(possibly greatest ever) coach. Scottie was a sick compliment to MJ, and is a sure HOFer but not a single one of you would be so dumb as to take Scottie over Shaq in their prime. Double Bottom Line: Now that Kobe\'s got Phil again, and now that he has the rest of the NBA by the nuts, let\'s see him win 2 or 3 more rings without the help of Shaq, Timmy Duncan or KG AND leave his career scoring avg. at or near 30.0 ppg. by the time he\'s done and maybe he\'s up there. Just remember MJ drained 25 game winning shots in his career, 8 were buzzer beaters, 1 was for the NBA championship, one was for the sheer devastation of the Cav\'s entire city and organization, and oh yeah, the one I DIDN\'T count was for an NCAA title. Kobe, despite his rings and scoring already, has a LONG way to go before he can step to that cred. Glad i could clear all that up.
-
I hate to sound like a geezer, but basketball has been on a downhill slide since its 80\'s pinnacle. On the occasion that I cruise past ESPN classic and catch Lakers/Celtics finals games, I\'m always amazed at how much the game has changed. And it goes well beyond knee high socks and shorty shorts. I don\'t deny loving what Jordan could do on the court. But he has changed the game forever, from a sport that relied on passing the ball to find the open man, to one that relies on its select "super stars" and their ability to amaze by abusing their defender.
Geezer!
-
Sixers.....ROCK!
-
Well The Lakers are in the playoffs and on a ROLL!
Phil Jackson predicted 50 wins and if they win their last game they will have 45.
Not too far off Phil.
Yeah Blackie the clips may have ended w/ a better record but between the teams the series was tied 2-2.
I really think they have a great chance of making some ser noise in the playoffs the way they have been playing lately.
Kobe has to be considered for MVP for the year he had.
-
When you lead the league in scoring, shoot 44.9 from the field, set the single-season scoring record for one of the elite franchises in sports history, miss just two games, have 27 games in which you score 40 or more, including six of 50 or more, plus a 62-point and 81-point game, in addition to leading a team with otherwise average talent to the playoffs in a highly competitive conference, you should win the NBA\'s Most Valuable Player Award going away.
I don\'t even care who wins it. Kobe Bryant is the league\'s best and Most Valuable Player and engineered the first step in the Lakers\' return to glory this season. And if it\'s Phoenix--which it most likely is--that\'s a series Los Angeles is capable of winning.
-
There\'s a reason this thread was dead for three months; because nobody cares. But I guess it wouldn\'t be the start of the NBA playoffs without Pitchie, leith, and peck fondling each other a little bit to get fired up over another mediocre Lakers team. ;) At least we didn\'t have the "mighty purple and gold" thread this year...talk about a sorry thread. So hey, enjoy the crash-and-burn against Phoenix, and before you go off on some stupid Celtics response, let me remind you: nobody cares!
-
The funny thing is you had to post and let us know that.
Oh and The Celtics suck always have always will.
-
You\'re right Wolf. This thread is a waste of time. However, that Ultimate Frisbee thread you started has more action than downtown Manhattan on a Saturday night. Look out now!
-
well, kobe needs to step it up. yesterday\'s game was completely winnable if kobe had it. i was impressed with the way they battled back, a little at a time, but they weren\'t able to hold on.. kobe\'s 35+ regular season PPG is meaningless if he\'s going to score 22 on 7/21 in the playoffs.. hopefully he can turn it on for wednesday night..
-
Well, here\'s a statement I\'d never that I\'d make in my life: Lamar Odom played better than Kobe Bryant in a Lakers playoffs game.
Sure, give Odom credit. He\'s had a great second half. And Walton has also played well down the stretch, including yesterday. But Kobe simply needs to make more than seven field goals, especially when Steve Nash has an average game (by his standards) and makes only five.
The Lakers played well yesterday. They showed they can hang with the Suns. The played great defense after the first quarter. They did well on the glass and in the paint. But they blew a golden opportunity.
Hey, at least Kobe didn\'t pull a Jaromir Jagr and punch someone in the face.

state of love, nba, and trust article on espn.com page 2 (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060421) 90% of it is about pearl jam.

Back to L.A. w/ a split.
Kobe showing his leadership and getting his teammates involved.
Pieces are coming together @ the right time.
-
Simply outstanding games by Kobe and Odom with solid contributions from Kwame Brown and Sasha Vujacic. Improved defense, exciting game, great effort to get the split.

what a game!! wow... kobe let the kids do their thing, and everyone showed up to win. bryant played a team game for 45+ minutes, and took control right when he should have. great ball movement combined with some pretty good defense, all starters in double figures (kobe being the last one!) and we\'re looking at a 2-1 lead.
-
LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE!!!!! Man this was a huge win. Even the bench showed up to play.
Defense? The Lakers have plenty.
Kobe emerging as a true leader and the other guys not letting him down.
We all imagined what could happen should Lamar and Kwame get going and now we know!
2-1 and on a ROLL!!!!!!!!!
-
Passing and rebounding. Passing and rebounding. Passing and rebounding.
When Kobe makes six field goals and the Lakers win, you know it means everyone else is doing their job. Tremendous games for every starter. Crowd going wild from opening tap. Step-by-step.
-
SMUSH!!

The jump ball was one of the worst calls in NBA history.
Kobe\'s OT buzzer-beater was one of the most clutch shots in NBA history.
OH BABY!
-
Who knew?
Phil did.

Two stories from the Associated Press this afternoon. Pretty funny.
After hitting shots Sunday afternoon that put the game into overtime and then beat the Phoenix Suns at the buzzer, Kobe Bryant went to the hospital, where his wife, Vanessa, gave birth to their second child -- a girl named Gianna, who was born at 2:03 a.m. Monday. She was 6 pounds, 7 ounces. Bryant and his wife also have another daughter, Natalia, who turned 3 in January.
and
Heat center Shaquille O\'Neal is a father for the sixth time. He and his wife, Shaunie, welcomed a new daughter. Mearah Sanaa O\'Neal was born just before 5 a.m. Monday morning. It\'s the third girl for the O\'Neals, with Mearah joining sisters Taahirah and Amirah and brothers Myles, Shareef and Shaqir.
Similar days for two Hall of Famers. Well, off the court anyway.

Well let me be the first to say it: WHAT A FUCKING DISASTER!

For my next act, I will make Kobe Bryant disappear in the second half of a game 7!

I\'m putting this picture here to make Laker fans feel better. I know blowing a 3-1 series lead really sucks, but hey, it\'s nowhere near as bad as what the Yankees did!
-
You\'re right. That does make me feel better, especially since the Lakers collapse didn\'t come against the team that set the standard for postseason ineptitude. Good analysis.

Indeed, the Yankee collapse is, in every way, the worst collapse ever in sports and one of the great falls from grace in all of modern history.
All the Lakers did was blow a 3-1 series lead. No biggie. Shit happens sometimes. Get \'em next year.
-
yeah but the suns didnt even have amare
nash definitely deserves his 2nd straight mvp
i was kind of excited to see lakers v clippers, too bad.
-
Well it really sux The Lakers did not move on but damn these playoffs are awesome!
Pistons/ Cavs, Spurs/Mavs AND Suns/ Clips all going 7 games.
Just insane basketball going on.

Congrats to Riles and The Heat.
Dwayne Wade was the man in this series and Alonzo Mourning was the best center on The Heat. Congrats to Shaq to finding a team that could use his fatness to block the lane.
With a transplanted kidney Alonzo outplayed that fat sack of ego for the whole world to see(if they bothered watching this series).
-
I learned two things watching this series:
1. Wade was easily the best player on the floor
2. Nowitski is vastly overrated
Congratulations Heat
-
wade is unfuckingbelievable always has been since i saw him come into the league. hes got a lot of respect for the game and all of its past superstars, unlike Leith\'s lil bitch Kobe who has always claimed to be the best, but got owned by the nailclippers this year. Shaq was okay in my eyes? whats your beef with big daddy, did he ignore your fan mail or something dude?

It smells a little bitter in here. I think someone added too much bitter, defeated, can\'t do it w/out Shaq west coast BS. ;)

Can you show me ANY verified quote by Kobe in which he claims to be the best?
I\'ll bet you whatever you want that you cannot do so.
As for the Clips the season series was tied and both teams got sent home by the Suns.
As for the fatman read the new book The Show by Roland Lazenby. It is a must read for anyone that takes sides in the Kobe/Shaq debacle. Both sides were to blame but in the end it is SHAQ that LEFT the team not Kobe. It is SHAQ that was desrespectful to Jerry Buss not Kobe. It is SHAQ that got fat not Kobe. It is SHAQ that purposely divided the team not Kobe. It is SHAQ that spat on the Laker Legacy not Kobe.
As for the present Shaq could not make his free throws had a horrible FG% and basically just became a tree in the lane for Wade to just drive like crazy.
Mourning was the best center in this series.

I think Shaq\'s commitment to continuing education is admirable, especially when education means so little to many of the of the NBA\'s rotten homeboys. Graduating with an MBA, along with his desire to pursue additional business credentials, is certainly commendable.

NO Shaq did not graduate w/ an MBA he left LSU after 3 years and continued his education Online. yeah it is kind of commendable but seeing as it is an Online degree from the Univ. of Pheonix do you really think he completed the course himself? I kind of doubt it.
-
University of Phoenix, oh you mean Heartbeat U. They\'d graduate anyone with cash. I heard someone\'s cat graduated from that dumb dumb school. Kobe needs to be locked up in jail & put on every sex offender registry.

You are an idiot Erika if you think Kobe should be in jail. I say this because he was never convicted of ANY crimes.

I\'m not really commenting on the validity of a U. of Phoenix degree, or whether he did all the coursework; the point is that it sends a message of the importance of education to the homeboys-in-training that follow the NBA. Let\'s face it, there aren\'t many players that emphasize school, despite the \'Read To Achieve\' ads on tv. Many NBA players are all about themselves, gold, cash, beatches, and Courvoisier.

Leith, shouldn\'t you be starting threads arguing that the audience vibe at the 1000th gig had no impact on the show?
Oh yeah, EHZ = last comic standing of .info!

I think rather than give kudos to Shaq you should be commending his PUBLICIST. Contrary to your beliefs many NBA players go back to school or contribute to causes that help schools. Shaq just gets publicity when he does things due to his superstar status.
As for the audience vibe @ the 1000th show if The Breakfast could not muster up enough of a "vibe" to throwdown for THEIR 1000th show themselves and needed to rely on the audience I would find that very sad.
Fans contribute alot but not as much as you all pat yourselves on the back over. SER

Leith,
I am going to make you watch the whole boxed set of Sleepaway Camp as well as The Van. I was going to buy the only boxed set left at the store yesterday, but the box was all bashed in. Probably from a rabid fan such as yourself. By the way, you might want to learn how to use a spell check program & learn how to spell Phoenix. Kobe is a shitty player next to Shaq. Another reason why Shaq is better than Kobe is that he was smart enough to hire a better publicist. He\'s putting that U of Phoenix degree to good use.
