damn that was some good playin\' last night!

HLH>Merge>HLH was outstanding.... best Overexposure I\'ve seen yet..

Wild Pack of Asscracks was crazy..  Tim totally shredded the end solo with the guitar behind his head

Not to mention Save made one of the best Saves I\'ve seen, I think in Overexposure, not sure, but it looked like Tims synth was doin some crazy shit and he was tryin to tone that thing down for a second, meanwhile Ron busts out a nasty bass solo that fit right in and totally grabs everyones attention.... niiice

Not quite sure if somebody was firing machine guns during Intension or that was just some rediculous drumming ;)

real good energy in Northampton last night, thanks to all who made it out to my hometown and got the place jumpin. Jumpin!

....

I should also mention all the first timers I brought along were severely impressed by last nights performance. You can bet at least a couple of these kids will be hittin\' the road with me whenever they can

that was a sped up tricky ways.  the jam from sir psycho had them goin\' into tricky ways at about a hundred miles per hour.

i\'m so glad to have caught the second set of the breakfast show, but i\'m just as glad i stuck it out and caught most the biscuits show.  HouseDog PartyFavor> Cyclone> HouseDog PartyFavor was a monster of a jam, made Buquebus look like 3 blind mice.

and Asscracks totally made my walk down the street worth every second.

Based on that statement I\'m going to have to download a recent highly-rated Bisco show and see whats up. I was never too impressed with their chops, at least a few years ago which was the last time I really payed any attention to them.... but hey, if thats whatcha say I\'m def gonna have to check them out again

decent show last night, nothing too crazy.  set 2 was sick.  good to hear merge and harry, it\'s been a while.  the transition from SPS>TW was great.  With the sound, i\'ve never been able to hear their vocals better and adrian sounded excellent, but I think that everybody could have been turned up a little louder.  wild pack was nice since they played it after curfew (it was funny seeing gencs tell everybody no more and then the light\'s go down again).  as far as the crowd, very young, which I suppose is a good thing.  alot of spun out people getting down.

spaceman....thanks again for the cd\'s, will have them back to you at sully\'s.

on the flipside, after goin to a couple 1200+ people biscuits shows and seeing the intensity and the energy of their crowds, and then goin\' to the breakfast at the Ironhorse right after and seeing the 100+ people rage the fuck out of that place really put shit into perspective for me.  if\'n there ever came to be a time where 1000+ people breakfast shows were all the rage, that shit would be nutso.

I was at the Biscuits show last night and it was amazing.  Didn\'t get to the Ironhorse afterwards, but that HLH>Merge>HLH looks tastey.  What time did the Breakfast start their second set last night?  ALso, if you are going to D/L a recent biscuits show def. go with      6/23/06 @ the Stone Pony.  It is the best biscuits show of the year (with maybe the exception of last night)

thats precisely why i couldn\'t leave the biscuits... would have been nice to catch that HLH>merge>HLH though.... kickin myself for that one....

was the turnout ok at the show? i figured the biscuits would steal a good fraction of the iron horse crowd....

i left midway thru Run Like Hell(the end is just like beginning and i wanted to beat the crowd), and got to the Ironhorse right intime for the HLH jam.  the first one.

Thinned out slightly for second set. I think a bunch of youngsters had to get home for curfew.

Pretty snug for the Iron Horse.  I think they top-off somewhere above 200.

Don\'t think there has ever been a dooze in the 6 years the band has been playing the Iron Horse (couple lighter crowds, but always energetic).

Ahhh... where to start??

Might as well begin at the beginning: I called the chase opener as we were standing in line waiting to get in the front door. (ester\'s got my back on that one.)

Vocals sounded perfect. The guys really belted out Psgyn. One of the top three psygns in my books. It was great at the beginning here... although i didn\'t really dig it during beginning of first set at toad\'s last week for some reason. See the light was awesome per usual... intension rocked... and funky bills was a great set one closer.

HLH > Merge > HLH was sick... haven\'t heard either of those songs in a really long time. Overexposure took the cake though-- by FAR!! I meandered up to the front during Late and the great, cuz I knew what madness was to ensue, and sure enough... that song was jumping! Energy was bouncing off the walls.

Overall: nice size crowd, lots of youngsters- which was good to see. I don\'t think the bisco show down the street really took that much away from the vibe of the iron horse. This was one of the best shows I have been to in a while. Really glad I made the trip. Completely wasn\'t expecting an encore... the lights came on while the whole place was chanting ONE MORE SONG!! And somehow, with 3 min left till close- ronnie grabs his bass and strolls back on stage, and they bust into a short, but sweet, kick ass Wild Pack mania, with Tim with rockin the guitar behind his head for the finale.

Couldn\'t have asked for anything more...

energy certainly was excellent at the horse last night....
there was some ser taintly force behind the one more song chant..... and the ensuing taunting of mr. gencs when the crowd started chanting "sor-ry chip! sor-ry chip!" hahahaha
as adrian gave the thumbs up right behind stevies head and the lights went back down
sweeeeet show

Last night is the way that every breakfast show should end....with a ton of fans screaming for  one more......me trying to get them to go home becuase it was like 5 of 1......they were screaming "one more song" and I was chanting back to them "sooo-ry chip"....then I felt a tap on my back and it was tim ron and adrian charging back on stage with their instruments......SICK

Regarding the Biscuits show.  They have their fanbase and play amazing music.  However for the breakfast to come into NorthHapmton and play on the same night that tDB were in town, I was amazed to see that there was a line of people 100 deep waiting to get into the iron horse at 10pm.  I was standing with the door guy when doors opened and watched the first 100 people walk in the place.....I would say I only recognized maybe 20 folks tops...Fucking great to see......

Thanks to everyone for coming out to the Iron Horse last night.  Thanks to Mikey WhatTheFunk for getting that great article in the UMass paper (i really think that helped out a lot)...

It was an amazing show with energy from jumpstreet, however, in my opinion, the Stone Church from Thursday night is the jewel in the crown of the weekend.......

Good Time Boys anyone???????

yeah, i was happy to see the place filled when i got there.  i think the biscuits fanbase is more seclusive than most jambands.  where as if the breakfast played in the same city as moe. or something, they might not get the crowd there, but mad heads would be there post show.  biscuits fans are generally into only the biscuits as far as jambands are concerned.

"Breakfast" serves up two sets full of new and old material in Northampton Concert
By: J.M. Friedman, Collegian Staff
Issue date: 11/7/06 Section: Arts & Living

With time running out on a Friday evening of hard-hitting rock and roll, the Breakfast gave the crowd a parting taste of euphonic bliss. As the trio said their so-longs and thank you\'s, the house lights at the Ironhorse came up, the after show music began to play, and the crowd refused to accept any of it. At once, the packed ski-lodge of a venue began to chant "One more song."
The wants and desires of an insatiable audience were too much for Northampton regulation stating that shows must end at 1 a.m. The band returned to the stage immediately, confirming the belief they knew all along, there would be no walking away without an encore tonight.
The final tune, aptly titled "Wild Pack of ***cracks" featured Palmieri shredding the bulk of the song with his Gibson behind his head. With the floor literally shaking beneath them, the congregation rejoiced, for the language of rock\'n\'roll had spoken and the message was clear. The power of music to move the mind and body is more powerful than law, limit, and reason.
Moist, satiated, and without reason for complaint, the listeners, senses blunted from an aural assault, slowly moved toward the door, most stopping to shake hands and exchange thanks with the band members. A level of intimacy and connection between fan and artist only found with particular bands at particular points in their careers ensued. A rarity indeed, The Breakfast has reached a level marked by both acclaim and anonymity.
When long time friend and band member Jordan Giangreco departed over the summer, the seasoned trio settled into a precarious transitory period. After releasing five albums, playing over 1000 live shows and receiving a Jammy for Best New Artist, the Breakfast has not achieved relative success. Despite accolades and milestones, they are known only to a tight circle of devoted followers and music aficionados. Traveling across the country by van, incessantly touring and promoting, the question of sustainability cannot be overlooked. How long can The Breakfast continue to perform at their current level without the rewards of notoriety and financial success? And furthermore, if the band does attain the \'next level\' how will the scene and the music suffer?
One thing is for certain, down-home music houses like the Ironhorse would not be able to entertain a band with a large scale following. For the 100 plus in attendance on Friday night, this was not a point to be overlooked.
The Breakfast had come to rip, and rip they did. Palmieri, Spears, and Tramontano burned their way through two up-tempo sets, playing a mix of old and new.
For the unfamiliar, The Breakfast are a rock band first and a jam-band second. While they integrate various genres, explore and improvise, the overriding sound and emotion is one of purposeful, driving rock and roll. The raw musical talent and chemistry of Tim Palmieri (Guitar, Vocals) Ron Spears (Bass, Vocals) and Adrian Tramontano (Drums, Vocals) is clearly on display throughout the show.
If you missed The Breakfast on Friday, you missed the rare intersection of musical prowess, experience, and intimacy. Next time they come to town, let\'s hope they haven\'t change a bit.

It\'s great to see some momentum out in the Pioneer Valley (Amherst-Northampton), an area that has always (literally since inception) served as a comfortable home-away-from-home for the Stavenites.  There are tons of heady kids in that area who need a new fix, hope they read The Collegian!

I just recently watched the DVD of this show (someone handed me one on my way out of higher ground last saturday night) and i have two words to say about it: Hot damn. Well those are pretty much the words i say about any breakfast show that I have seen or listened to on the net. I felt like the chase was a good opener, and then they play psygn, which i have never really heard before but have become a big fan in a short amount of time. THE PSYGN JAM ROCKED! I also like how they brought in attraction to shade ditty, the old PB album was one i listened to a lot in high school, got me hooked.

Anyway, I also thought sir psycho was awesome, i\'ve only heard them do a few covers before, but that fits their style perfectly. And asscracks as an encore? I wish i was partyin all night in northampton, but luckily they came to my home state so i could see them at higher ground. glad i got the dvd though, i can study tim now:guitar:
