^ go soxs...as is go both red and white sox?
predictions for this year: Red sox will win a bunch of games, so will the yankees, mark will still be rooting for the cardinals and pitchy will still be rooting for the mets. Wolf will write a big long breakdown about something and a lot of little fights will break out. Oh, and the sox beat the cubs in 5 games to take the pennant, chicago is destroyed in the ensuing riots. I\'m calling it now.
^ go soxs...as is go both red and white sox?
I jumped on for the beginning of summer phish tour \'03 (phoenix, san diego, mtn. view, gorge) and on my flight from phoenix to san diego i left my hat on the plane. when we landed i decided to pick up a new one, which happened to be a padres hat. i was always sick of watching the yankees, mets, and red sox. because of this i never really gave baseball a chance. i figured it was time i picked up a team and started getting into the sport. since then i have become a big fan of the padres and baseball as a whole and plan on ordering the mlb ticket from directv this year. i had the mlb radio the past 3 seasons but that just doesnt cut it anymore.
i feel good about the padres chances this year. maddux is going to be a great addition to their rotation and he will also play a key role in further developing peavy and young. wells is a good #5 starter and if people get hurt i am sure he can step up his role. i am surprised they dealt barfield. he was fantastic last year and they werent going to pay him shit for the next couple years. however i feel giles will be a solid 2b for them. i am glad they finally got rid of klesko but i am sure they will miss having roberts leading off. the man may be old but he is still very fast and plays well in CF. they have one of the best bullpens in the league and fortunately they realized keeping linebrick was a much better option than trying to get randy johnson. the left side of their infield is going to be a little shaky until people settle into their positions.
each division has won the world series over the last 6 years and it all started out with the diamondbacks from the nl west. hopefully that means another team emerges from this div in the fall. dodgers are always contenders and the giants should be too but theyre old and i dont think theyll have the endurance to last. diamondbacks should be better but i think this race will come down to two teams in september, dodgers and padres. hopefully they can pull their third straight div champs.
i look forward to seeing a-rod in a padres uniform at SS in \'08. :duck:
well, just edited the copyright (cannot be rebroadcast without the express written concent of the commisioner of baseball thing) again for espn and I\'m happy to announce that for the 3rd consecutive year, the RED sox and mets are well supported while there is not a trace of the yankees to be seen. :hehehe:
There\'s not a trace of the Yankees in the copyright you edited for ESPN? Heh? :hscratch:Well, TECHNICALLY there is...
I think we should arrange a .info day at the park!

<--- vows to stay out of this thread until September.
who cares they won and more importantly the yankess lost. a-rod stiffens up again in a clutch at-bat with the bases loaded, two outs and the yankees down by a run. damn. gotta love baseball season.
Where are all the haters now?
This is much bigger than just a walk off.
This is a 1,000 lb. monkey off a man\'s back.
This is equivilant to Peyton Manning beating the Pats in the playoffs.
This is a superstar with a relieved and renewed psyche.

are you kidding me? youre comparing a-rods bottom of the ninth grand slam (in their second series of the season against baltimore, none the less) to peyton finally beating the pats in the PLAYOFFS and earning a spot in the superbowl? i sure hope youre joking. that at bat means nothing. they were losing to one of the worst teams in the AL (they lost the series today actually) no one has really questioned arods skills during the regular season so i still dont see this as anything big. lets see how well he does in this situation when the playoffs come in to play.

Ah come on Chris, like it\'s gonna help the Yankees anyway. That team is lost. Even w/ A-Rod having one of the best Aprils ever they still flounder.

I think it will be mets and Sox World Series...

Here\'s hoping that I\'ll get to see a little more longevity from Beckett tomorrow than last time I was there. Avulsion. It could be brutal if his "avulsion" doesn\'t flare up: he\'s 7-0 and Sowers is 1-4.
oof. as much as i love the yanks, it\'s looking like the mets are way ahead, & i\'m actually starting to root for them rather than the overpaid, precocious yankees. oh well, i guess anything\'s better than the red sox, eh, handler?! ;)

Not only are you securing your chance to sit behind the wheel of what critics have referred to as the "fantasy convertible" but this is a chance to own a piece of Red Sox history. This dream car belongs to David Ortiz, aka Big Papi, of the Boston Red Sox. This was a gift to himself after winning the 2004 World Series and was his prized possession over the past two years. This car has been pampered for its short life, taking Big Papi back and forth to Fenway Park. The car has a little over 4,000 miles on it and has been always dealer serviced and is in immaculate, showroom condition.
This SL65 AMG features a powerful 6.0- liter 12-cylinder, twin-turbo charged engine, hand built following AMG’s one-man-one-engine philosophy for unparalleled quality and workmanship. Supplemented by 738 lb.-ft. of torque, the SL65 boasts 604 horsepower and rockets from 0-60 in just over four seconds. This car is a real head turner and has many additional options including custom aero kit, including Lorinser Fenders. The car is sitting on 20" Lowenhart LSR wheels wrapped with Contintental Sport Contact Tires. This car cost David over $205,000 when it was purchased and then he spent another $35,000 in aftermarket accessories. This car has been featured in DUB magazine and won the 2006 award for Best Celebrity Car.
This car will be hand delivered at Fenway Park to the lucky winner of this auction by Big Papi, himself. He will bring you your new car with keys and title in hand.
Good luck and happy bidding.

the game last night was nuts. anderson racked up 10 rbi for an \'rbi cycle\'...in the first 6 innings. just goes to show when the yanks play teams that actually have good pitching theyre 5-7 runs a game won\'t cut it. would have finished at 18-5 if the angels actually cared about their pitching in the 9th.
yea, so um, go rangers. :holyshit:
well they are extending his time there, so whatever the rehab was for I doubt he\'ll be back this year.
NEW YORK -- Pedro Martinez is making progress -- even as the platform remains the same.
Martinez will remain with Class A St. Lucie for a fourth Minor League rehab start -- a third with St. Lucie -- on Monday, after which the team will evaluate whether he\'s ready to join the Mets or needs one additional start.
"At the point where we are right now, it\'s going to be start to start," general manager Omar Minaya said. "We\'ll evaluate it after the start on Monday."
Martinez will throw 80 to 90 pitches in that outing, and he\'ll likely then advance either to Double-A Binghamton for a final rehab start or join the Mets on a road trip that takes them to Philadelphia, Atlanta and Cincinnati. If Martinez does first make another Minor League start, he\'d be lined up to join the club at the start of a nine-game homestand on Sept. 7, which begins with three games against the Astros.
Martinez could have joined Double-A for his next start, but he opted instead to remain in a situation where he can worry less about the opposition and more about himself. Minaya said that his injured pitcher\'s greatest concern right now is location not velocity.
"Pedro needs to do what he wants to do in the at-bat," Minaya said. "The goal here is for him to pitch to the zone that he wants to pitch to. That doesn\'t matter whether it\'s done in \'A\' ball or it\'s done in another area."
the padres/mets series had a playoff feel to it. each team was capable of putting up a ton of runs in any inning. besides peavy, this series was all about offense. the lead was traded back and forth each game and it was only fitting that game three went to extra innings. beltran was a hero in game one and played strong throughout. khalil greene finished off the series 8-15 with 5 rbi. 2 errors each at 3B for wright and kouzmanoff (4 of the 5 total errors in the series) which really fueled comebacks for the mets. i hope they meet in the playoffs.

well, they both suck ass...:duck:
well it\'s pretty much a fact that the debil rays suck. but you are right it is only my opinion that the stankees suck.
You\'re right, the Yankees have no chance to keep their wild card lead and no chance to take the division. Both teams have 24 games left and with 3 more game against the sox, there\'s no chance of coming back? Are you kidding me! If history shows us anything, boston always has a meltdown at the end of the season and the Yankees take advantage of it - why do you think we\'ve won the division 5 out of the last 6 seasons? And even if we don\'t take the division, as long as we get the wildcard, we\'ll get the chance take you guys on in the playoffs. With our line-up, it doesn\'t take a genius to realize that it\'s only a matter of time before the Yankees start making a run for the division.
I am neither a yankees or red sox fan, but I remeber in 2004 the Yankees were up 3-0 and lost the series 4-3. It was the greatest comeback in sports history so anything can happen. but the yankees will not win the division this year, but they may win the wild card. in the meantime red sox fans would love to have the yankees 26 world series championships but they really dont give two shits about that argument simply b/c of what happen in 2004. And who could blame them.
the yanks could easily make up 7 games in a month

You have no clue man. Milton has been trying very hard and the Padre players love him on the team. He was totally incited by the Ump as the First Base coach reported and today that Ump got suspended for baiting Bradley.
NEW YORK -- Umpire Mike Winters was suspended by Major League Baseball for the remainder of the regular season on Wednesday because of his confrontation with San Diego Padres outfielder Milton Bradley last weekend.
The Padres claimed Winters baited Bradley, who has a history of losing his temper. Bradley tore a knee ligament when his manager spun him to the ground while trying to keep him from going after the umpire during Sunday\'s 7-3 loss to Colorado in San Diego.
Winters was suspended because the commissioner\'s office concluded he had used a profanity aimed at Bradley, a baseball official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the reasoning for the suspension was not announced.
The 48-year-old Winters became a major league umpire in 1990 and worked the World Series in 2002 and last year.
Padres manager Bud Black declined to comment.
"In this case, I think it\'s best for my position to just stay away from it," he said by phone from San Francisco, where the Padres were to finish a series against the Giants on Wednesday night.
Bradley tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will need surgery, which is expected to sideline him for at least six months. His injury was a blow to the Padres, who began Wednesday with a one-game lead over Colorado and Philadelphia in the NL wild-card race.
Trouble began when plate umpire Brian Runge asked Bradley if he had flipped his bat in the ump\'s direction after taking a called third strike that ended the fifth inning. Runge indicated that Winters told him that Bradley had.
The dispute escalated after Bradley singled, then asked Winters if he told Runge he threw his bat.
First base coach Bobby Meacham and Black said Winters used profanity. Bradley called it "the most unprofessional and most ridiculous thing I\'ve ever seen."
"It\'s terrible. And now, because of him, my knee\'s hurt," he said after the game. "If this costs me my season because of that, he needs to be reprimanded. I\'m taking some action. I\'m not going to stand pat and accept this because I didn\'t do nothing wrong."

Not saying any of that. I am saying that the umpire is guilty of using profanity to entice Milton Bradley. Milton Bradley is responsible for his own action of retaliating. These are professionals and you just sometimes have to act mature even if the umpire isn\'t. He should have stayed his cool because then he would at least be able to assist his team in the playoff race.Quote from: leith;160470Quote from: SlimPickens;160458Quote from: leith;160440Quote from: Klout;160100Milton Bradley is the biggest idiot in all of baseball.

Leith, who called Milton Bradley the names, his skipper or the umpire? Not his boss was it, not even the same thing, brah.
And I would take it as a professional because I have other avenues of retaliation. Why would I fight back if my boss called me names and make a bigger ass out of myself then they just did.
Also, how come you assume my boss is a he, why couldn\'t the boss be a she? Got something against females in positions of authority?
haha.
I was waiting for your rebuttal. Excellent.
Well, I completely understand both sides and in the heat of the moment a temporary lapse of judgment I can understand.
The umpire was wrong and will be suspended for the remainder of the regular season. Unfortunately, Bradley could be out for the rest of the season, which does suck.
also, my mothers been dead for 7 years, why are you still fucking a corpse?
Bradley got what he deserved and so did the padres for taking the risk of signing a known hot head like him.The Padres knew what they were getting and it has paid off in the larger sense as he ignited the team with his bat and his passion. To a man the Padre players have consistently backed him and have said they would welcome him back next year if mgmt signed him.
The ump was unprofessional by talking shit but bradley instead of be being the bigger man and walking away he flipped out and threw and tantrum worthy of a 6 year old.
The way he was shoving his coach was despicable. Even more despicable is the fact that instead of accepting and owning up to the fact that he screwed up and let his whole team and all the fans down like a man because he couldb\'t be an adult and bite his tounge, instead he says "because of him, my knee\'s hurt"!! unreal
Bradley is a pathetic loser who got what he deserved and so is anyone who defends him and his actions.
if was I was getting paid millions of dollars a year to play a game I would at least be a professional about it. Arguing a call is one thing but what he did was way over the line. Unless the ump called him a dirty f#ckin N*gg^r there is no excuse for flipping out like that. And even if he did it\'s still not an excuse to push his own coach around like that. Instant karma is a bitch. too bad he didn\'t even learn his lesson but at least he made a total fool out of himself and his entire team and drastically hurt their play off chances.

You have no clue man. Milton has been trying very hard and the Padre players love him on the team. He was totally incited by the Ump as the First Base coach reported and today that Ump got suspended for baiting Bradley.
I\'m not saying he shouldn\'t have gotten into it with this ump. But anyone that\'ll struggle against his own coaches/ teammates to the point of injury just to get in an umps face about a non-incident from a previous inning... has got to be a pretty big idiot.
He got hurt struggling because the guy had just called him "a fucking piece of shit" and kept jawing at him because he knew Milton would not take someone calling him a profanity.
Milton and the first base coach both have said Milton was cool until the profanity.
An Umpire should know better. They should be impartial and this guy was not.
Yeah In the heat of a playoff chase, Milton should have just let the guy talk shit. He should just let the ump get away with shit just because he is in a position of authority. Yeah you guys are right. Milton is an idiot because he could not do the obvious thing that you all would do in the same situation with all the adrenalin running and just calmly take the guys shit.Quote from: Spacey;160464The umpire is wrong for going after Bradley but its Bradley\'s fault for his own injury. 5 year olds throw temper tantrums not professional athletes.
OK can I get your bosses number and when he calls you a fucking piece of shit in front of everyone please just sit there and take it like a good professional.
Milton Bradley is the biggest idiot in all of baseball.

haha, and his name is "Milton Bradley".... Just never gets old
hahahaha, what a cruel joke for his mother to play on him.
Can someone please tell the Mets to stop advertising for postseason tickets? It\'s embarrassing.
”I’m really, really proud of our players and our organization, and happy for our fans because it’s been a long time since they had the bragging rights in the al east and don’t have to take the taunts any longer and can enjoy this one… it’s just a great day for our fans. When you have the Yankees in your division, it feels like you have a stalker. Every time you turn around, they’re right there, and we’ve been out to big leads before and haven’t been able to hold ‘em. … Our guys really handled the Tampa clinch very professionally, now tonight, get a little crazy, enjoy it, but then back to business, and we still have the home field to play for, best record in the league, and then the important time starts, we have to win 11 games, one at a time, try to win the division series, then go from there.”-- GM Theo Epstein
Now, most Sox fans are nowhere near as wise and honest as I and will get up and preach about how great this is, but really, a wise Sox fan should know better than anyone that it doesn\'t matter how you get in.
There are very, very few Sox fans wise enough and honest enough to say this though: it really doesn\'t mean a whole lot in a couple of days. It\'s a new season, and when a team loses in the playoffs, the corresponding pennant is thought of with angst for all eternity.

I was happy about it for 2 seconds, reread the first three sentences of my post. Actually I was happy about it for about 2 hours when texts and phone calls were flying around like it was 04 all over again. That was fun.
To be honest, I\'m just pissed with Sox fans right now because I went to the game Wed night and was surrounded by nothing but tourists, meatheads, business clients, and dates...absolutely nobody who had any interest in the game, and we\'re in the middle of a pennant race. Fenway can be tough sometimes. There\'s a lot of people there who just aren\'t there to watch a baseball game. They\'re there either to say they saw the place, get wasted, transact business deals, or make out. Baseball be damned. Watching the game was barely an option for me. So I\'m pissed with Sox "fans" right now. This phase should pass for the postseason.
That sucks Seth. I find that at Fenway, the better my seats are, the less interested the fans around me tend to be.

hope pitchie didn\'t have one of these (http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2874199&cp=2879714) on order!
that\'s such garbage! he didn\'t touch home and barrett had possession of the ball when he tagged him. after the tag he lost it.
Wow. Day one of the playoffs is complete and nothing here? C\'mon you fans of teams who didn\'t fuck up their entire season in the last week. Let\'s get going!.....
...Red Sox: what can you say? Beckett has proven to be a dynamite postseason pitcher in his brief career.
(ooff Yankee fans! what a loss, from your ace too.) As a Red Sox fan I\'m half and half, part of me wants to meet the Yanks in the post season, and part of me doesn\'t
Then call me a puss! I don\'t need the aggravation know that the Yankees are the team that allowed the sox a chance at the series.
had the yankees held on to win this game, i would have come on here and told you how this was one of the best and most tense game i have ever watched.
but as soon as the indians tied the game in the 8th, i knew i wouldn\'t be doing that. i knew the indians would win the game - it was just a matter of when.
the fact of the matter is that the yankees offense is, once again, absolutely dead in the water in october. inning after inning i watched them get a lead-off walk, only to swing at first pitches, pop out, strike out, and essentially go down in order. and inning after inning, andy pettite came in and pitched brilliantly - working out of jam after jam, right up until the 7th inning. you could not have asked for anything more from pettite - he was fantastic.
joba comes into the bigges spot of his young carrer with 2 on and 1 out in the 7th, and gets 2 quick outs to get out of the jam. just what we needed. of course the yanks don\'t give him any more cushion in the top of the 8th - totally expected when you see what they\'ve done all game.
bottom 8 comes, and joba is a completely different pitcher. what the FUCK with all the bugs swarming on the infield?! i\'m certainly not using that as an excuse. joba threw the game in the dirt, plain and simple. like i said, it was over after that. the yankee offense wasn\'t coming alive.
and who better to prove that point than a-rod? i\'ve been cautious to not jump on him for his slow start this postseason, but who am i kidding? a-rod comes up in his biggest spot as a new york yankee in the top of the 9th with 2 out and a runner on 2nd, and strikes out to end the inning. can i say i want him off the team? i dunno. i mean, technically he\'s just doing what the rest of the offense does in the postseason, right? he\'s just has huge numbers in the regular season. whatever. i\'m pissed off at the whole fucking team right now. fuck it. get him out of here.
Vizcaino gets a huge gift with the bases loaded pop-up with 1 out in the 11th, but then on a 3-2 count with 2 out, throws a gutless lob over the heart of the plate to end the game. die fucker.
actually, i should really be happy that the game didn\'t go any longer than it did - it just would have been more painful when it finally did happen.
so here we are - down 0-2 and heading to yankee stadium on sunday. a game that i *should* be confident about. but yankee fans, i ask you this: how on earth can you watch this team over the last 2 days and have the least bit of confidence in them? especially knowing what they\'ve done in the postseason the past few years!
i\'ll be watching every pitch of every at-bat, but confident? hell no.
Its certainly a good time to be a Sox fan folks....
but as soon as the indians tied the game in the 8th, i knew i wouldn\'t be doing that. i knew the indians would win the game - it was just a matter of when.
The Yankees either win by a blow out or they lose close games, at least thats what it seems like. Anyone if you can find that statistic of how many close games the Yankees won/lost?

Yankees this year in 1-run games: 18-21
Yankees this year in games decided by 5 or more: 46-19

First you rooted for the Padres, then you rooted for the Angels...you have a knack for turning teams to shit. If the Rockies lose please don\'t root for the Red Sox...kthanksbye.:)
Leith, please root for the Red Sox regardless.
I gave up on Gagne a looong time ago. It\'s too bad really, a guy who him and papelbon were 2 of the best closers in baseball, he set a record for most saves (I think that\'s what it was) then came to Boston and lost all his mojo. It\'s a ser bummer.
This will def be an exciting series. (and was tonight)
The Rockies have won 21 of 22 games on their way to the World Series, including seven straight to start the postseason. The last team to go on such a post-Sept. 1 jag was the 1935 Chicago Cubs, who won 21 straight, and the only other group to start a postseason with seven consecutive victories was Cincinnati\'s 1976 incarnation of the Big Red Machine.
Well, Matsuzaka certainly hasn\'t distinguished himself this postseason.
If you\'re Terry Francona, and you start Tim Wakefield instead of Josh Beckett tonight, please consider a career in the sale of aluminum siding.
The Sox are cooked. Oh well. I should be way more upset than I am, but I\'m really not taking it too hard. Having the Pats and Celtics and BC Eagles around has me too excited to get upset. Sprinkle in a little 2004 grace period and this is going to be the easiest-to-swallow Red Sox playoff loss of my liftetime. Sometimes its harder than others, and this is about as unhard as it gets.
Plus I\'m finding it hard to totally love a team that does so much stupid stuff. If Jacoby Ellsbury plays last night, the Sox win. First, he easily catches Lofton\'s home run. That ball landed about 4 inches back on the 6-foot ledge, where any major league outfielder easily grabs it provided that he\'s there. Drew just didn\'t get there in time. Ellsbury would have been there a full 1-2 seconds early with a timed jump. Then he would have driven in Manny from second with two out in the 4th inning, a spot in which Drew would never, ever get a hit and obviously didn\'t. Drew is a franchise-killer and Dice-K still has franchise-killer potential, and it\'s hard to get into a team when they blow so much money on stiffs. Now you\'ve got the season riding on Wakefield making his first start in 3 weeks coming off injury. I wouldn\'t mind seeing him in this game if healthy, but first start coming back from injury? I hope we can at least get back to Fenway for a game, Beckett can probably steer us through Game 5, but it\'s Indians in 5 or 6.

Nope, put the Red Sox wallpaper up in my room at age 5, went to my first game with my dad and his dad (both dead now) in 1984 at age 4, still have my 1986 Sox team picture up in my room. Maybe if you had been a Breakfast fan before 2004 you would have read the 2003, 2002, 2001, or 2000 baseball posts, in which I post about the Red Sox as well. Next time go back and look through the threads before you make an ass out of yourself. And tell us a little about what a Colts fan you were before Peyton while you\'re at it.
Ummm...leith? I can believe the Sox have reached their potential and won\'t go any further, it\'s ok. Good fandom does not require blind faith that your team will always win. Good fandom DOES require monogamy. You\'re a sports bigamist. You root for multiple teams and as soon as one goes down you hop on the bandwagon of the other. It\'s one of the ultimate ways to suck at being a fan. I\'m not making this up, please read here it\'s rule #19. http://proxy.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/020227 . And Deblock (Yoda), you\'re saying that the Pirates, Yankees, Angles, Reds, and Diamondbacks all had the same season; not winning the World Series. That\'s pretty dumb. Hey you know what? The Breakfast, Jurassic 5, Limp Bizkit, Maroon 5, Hubinger Street, and Clay Aiken have all had the same career: not selling out the Rose Bowl and going triple-platinum. You\'re the guy who stopped seeing The Breakfast because it made your vag hurt. You\'re that guy. Don\'t even comment on anything involving fandom of of any type, ever.Quote from: booztravlr;164366Quote from: Wolfman;164346

You\'re right - I stopped going to shows; it doesn\'t mean that I stopped liking the band or appreciating their music. The jamband scene has this ass-backwards idea that you have to constantly go to shows to be a fan. And for the record, I moved out of state, got married and bought a house - those are my responsibilities, not going to see a band every weekend. We should be happy that people like the band, they shouldn\'t have to prove it.
I don\'t hear no fuckin fat lady yet!
I mean, all I ever wanted was for people to weigh in on the Beckett vs. Wakefield situation. Unless you Sox fans think they should start the Oil Can tonight.

Oh ya I forgot you are younger than I am and probably have forgotten that the leagues used to only meet in the WS. So that was never a problem for me as both of the teams I root for never had a chance to meet..

so are you an Angels fan or a Padres fan? No matter what team from the National League is in the World Series, I will always root for the National League. I am a Braves fan. They are from the NL East. Maybe if the Mets were in the World Series, I would root against them, but if the Phillies made the Series this year, I would be rooting from them for sure. Go Rockies.
Personally, if your favorite team resides in the NL than you should root for the NL on the simple fact it gives recognition to your league and your team. Then again, I am not sure who your favorite team is, but I remember you giving more props to the Padres this season than the Angels.
On a side note, I think I had it right back when I called the Phillies winning the division and the Rockies the Wild Card.

Douche comment. That was the third run in a back to back to back home run streak. Manny should have been pumped. That could\'ve been the rally that started a ser comeback. But it wasn\'t:banghead:. Oof. This has been in the back of my mind for weeks though for obvious reasons I didn\'t discuss it openly...what to do if this incredible 3-night Breakfast run conflicts with the Red Sox in the World Series?
I have been planning on all 3 nights of Breakfast, although I was kind of screwed for Toad\'s from the start because due to an event for work I can\'t get out of work until 8:30-9 that night which puts me in New Haven around 11. I was all about doing it anyhow, but I think Game 2, in Boston, will be enough incentive to keep me here. I mean, I\'d have to listen to the first 6-7 innings on radio, then miss the end of the game outright. Meanwhile, I\'d probably miss Breakfast\'s opener and worst case whole first set all at the same time. I mean, that\'s a shitty night.
I will NOT skip FF9 for game 3. It\'s FF for crying out loud. Count me in for Games 1 and 2 and shows 2 and 3. Seems fair enough.
Sox in 4
good luck to all you sox fans. I WAS rooting for the rockies because they swept the phillies but after learning they are all Jesus freaks and are claiming all their success is thanks to Jesus my allegiance to them has been seriously diminished.

Is your brother Nelson Gord?
spacey, how\'d you know my brother\'s name?

the internet when used properly can find anything
wow. that\'s all I can really say. just wow.
was just thinking about seeing Dice-K hit in game 3, it\'s gonna be odd. I\'ve seen him hit in the regular season, but this is a whole nother thing. Spacey, Bill we\'d better be listening to the game on the ride to Brahlington.

you are driving up with 2 Yankee fans.
Well I know Dobz is with me on this one.
Good times. Can\'t believe you walked home. Can\'t believe we missed the T (wait, yes I can, it\'s Boston). Can\'t believe someone wanted to fight you and then called you tie-boy.
"Yeah, listen tie-boy. That\'s right, I\'m calling you tie-boy, because you\'re wearing a tie."

I walked all the way out to Charlestown after the game/bars to visit another friend who I put off to hang with the Hawe, then headed back downtown and slept for about an hour before heading to the airport.
Yeah, that was certainly fun causing trouble!

let me smoke some of that shit.
this series is going at least 6 games.
Yeah I think so too.
Sox in 6.
Watching The Breakfast cover a Phish album in Burlington followed by watching the Red Sox win the World Series in Boston the very next night is, without question, the greatest 2-night run of my life. This is just incredible. I was good for at least 30 hugs each night. Some with friends, some with strangers. I yelled and screamed in joy each night as the two groups of my greatest adulation and lifelong fandom peaked within 24 hours of each other. I just hope that I don\'t come down too hard and crash emotionally when life returns to some sense of humdrum normalcy, wins and losses, good shows and doozies. I consider it a great personal challenge to keep life at the level it was at on October 27th and 28th, 2007. I will try to find ways to keep it there. Thank you Breakfast and Breakfast fans. Thank you Red Sox and Red Sox fans. Let\'s all get together and do it again.
yawn > meh > fart.
Seriously life doesn\'t get any better for a Bfast BoSox fan right now..
yawn > meh > fart.
Sox fans- congrats.
Joe Girardi
Don Mattingly- a hero of mine growing up, but no managerial experience on any level? I couldn\'t buy it.
A-Rod- whew. Where to begin? What a classless dick move making the annoucement in the World Series. It was also incredibly stupid. Correct me if I\'m wrong Boston fans, but could you accept letting MVP Lowell go to overpay the man who just pissed on your parade?

It\'s called a rebuilding decade you dick!
can\'t believe I am posting this link, though I am sure some have seen these, but for those who have not, I got this link forwarded to me by my mother, who is also a yankees fan, my guess is she got it from her stop and shop cohorts in quincy, ma as a \'fuck the yankees\' joke, but either way they\'re some pretty good picks. makes me almost have some respect for the red sox for being party type kids, almost. . .

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming as I dive back into my hole.
I am so fucking jealous of the people who were there... That was probably my one chance to convince Mike Lowell to leave his wife and live happily ever after with me.
Ok, so a question for yankee fans/anyone who would know:
We just cut some stuff with broll of torre getting a large paperweight type award and he was holding it in his left hand. The reporters were all taking pictures, blablabla. One of the reporters asked him to put it in his other arm and he said "I can\'t do that" he then turned so that he was holding it on the other side, but still holding it with his left hand, the right one just balancing the back of it.
No one here could figure it out. Is there something wrong with his right arm? It looks like the award would only weight about 10-15lbs at most (all glass, about the size of a extra large soda)
CC Sebathia won the AL CY Young award. I think Beckett got robbed even though he came in 2nd in voting. But Sabathia certainly had a great regular season, and he deserves it.
Dustin Pedroia has been named the 2007 American League Rookie of the Year.

Come on Red Sox fans, you don\'t have to complain about every single thing that doesn\'t go your way.

as I said sabathia certainly deserved it, it\'s just watching Beckett pitch he is a cy young calibur pither. Especially when you consider both of their post season performances, Beckett blew Sabathia away. CC choked hard, while Beckett came through brialliantly. I know it\'s not about the post season, but it certainly shows something.

So NYY are out. Boston is presumably out. The Mets are out (A-Rod wouldn\'t be safe in NY and the Mets are pretty set at 3B and SS). There goes the 3 biggest spenders in the game.
Who\'s left? The Dodgers? Anaheim? SF? A Chicago team? I hope Boras gets bitch slapped on this. You eliminate the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry from the bidding and your free agent market plumets. Be patient GM\'s. At this point he needs you more than you need him.
NEW YORK (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez spoke with the Yankees on Wednesday, telling them he wanted to explore whether he could work out a deal to return to New York.
Members of the Steinbrenner family and top team officials participated in the discussion, according to a person familiar with the talks who spoke on condition of anonymity because the club didn\'t make any announcement.
Rodriguez, who opted out of his contract last month and became a free agent, said he wanted to talk with the Steinbrenner family before he started discussions with other franchises and that he wanted to remain with the Yankees. It was not immediately known whether the discussion took place in person or by telephone. His agent, Scott Boras, did not participate.
The Yankees were approached by a third-party intermediary several days ago who said Rodriguez wanted to speak with the Steinbrenners, and the team at first wondered whether the message was serious. Before Rodriguez terminated his record $252 million, 10-year contract on Oct. 28, Boras told the Yankees they would have to make a $350 million offer to get a meeting with the third baseman.
By opting out of the contract, Rodriguez forfeited the $72 million he was guaranteed by the Yankees for 2008-10. In turn, the Rangers were relieved of their obligation to pay New York $21.3 million, a subsidy agreed to as part of the 2004 trade that sent A-Rod to the Yankees.
Rodriguez told the Yankees he understood what he would have to do if he wanted to rejoin the team: Make up for the subsidy from Texas that New York lost what he opted out.
Before Rodriguez opted out, the Yankees were prepared to make an initial extension offer of four or five years with an average yearly salary of $25 million to $30 million.
After he became a free agent, many possible suitors said they weren\'t interested. The Los Angeles Angels were an exception, saying they\'d like to speak with Rodriguez.

That would make me very sad. I hope Lowel stays. :(
Yeah Peavy!
The San Diego Padres ace received all 32 first-place votes and finished with 160 points. Peavy went 19-6 while topping the majors in ERA (2.54) and strikeouts (240) He is only the 4th National League pitcher to do this in the last 40 years. At least some good came out of this season.
Lowell stays, 3 year contract.WHOOO-HOO!!!
I am so happy that I can continue to fantasize about being alone with him in the Red Sox clubhouse.um, hmm. yea, didn\'t need to know that but enjoy. Got a thing for big eyebrows, hu? rotfl
Can any Mets fans out there explain what the hell they did today? Milledge for 2 scrubs? Isn\'t he still a little young to give up on?
And for the record I hope the Yanks don\'t give up Hughes or Cano for Santana. He\'s great and all, but reminds me alot of Pedro Martinez. He\'s due for a breakdown. Over the next 5 years Hughes may turn out to be the better pitcher.
I think you\'re nuts for not wanting Santana. He\'ll win 25+ games with that lineup.

The comparison to Pedro is this- power pitchers with small builds usually have short life spans. Their best years are usually in their mid to late 20\'s. The pitchers who have the longest careers are either built like horses (Ryan, Clemens, Schilling, etc.) or nibble and paint the corners (Maddux, Moyer, Glavine). Santana is a straight forward strike thrower, thus the high number of K\'s.
The Tigers hit the daily double in this winter\'s market, landing third baseman Miguel Cabrera and lefty Dontrelle Willis from the Florida Marlins. The price was steep, including two of the Tigers most prized young players, outfielder Cameron Maybin and lefty starter Andrew Miller, not to mention a backup catcher and three prospects.
i hope the nesn dvd has remdawg and don announcing. Rem= comedic genius
Moments after Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Jonathan Papelbon struck out Colorado Rockie Seth Smith for the final out of the 2007 World Series, Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek gave Papelbon the baseball.
Papelbon\'s agent later said that his client didn\'t have the ball.
It puzzled some in Boston, as the team had trouble getting the final baseball of the 2004 World Series, too, which the Red Sox also won.
Well, the 2007 mystery is now solved. The World Series baseball is in Hattiesburg.
At least what is left of it is.
"My dog ate it," said Papelbon, who has a home in the Canebrake subdivision.
"He plays with baseballs like they are his toys. His name is Boss. He jumped up one day on the counter and snatched it. He likes rawhide. He tore that thing to pieces. Nobody knows that. I\'ll keep what\'s left of it."
He\'s so full of shit. But hey, guess he\'s gotta\' do what he\'s gotta\' do, the HOF requires liars at this point.
Goose going in as a Yankee or Padre?
Quote from: leith;175892Goose going in as a Yankee or Padre?
C\'mon dude. I suppose he could go in as White Sox, Cub, Giant, Pirate, A, Mariner or Ranger too... but he spent his prime years and got his ring in New York.
