what do ya know,2 hunge last night rockin show, who thought.

We felt we "needed" to go to see the rest of the Daniel Street show, so we made the trek, i say that because it seemed just as they were building up momentum they had to stop.
That being said, opening with the end of HLH did just that. It was amazing that instantly they sounded like they\'d already been playing with the style, and energy as if they\'d been playing for a few hours already. Veeery strong jam towards the end of the Sound. Unquestionably the best Metropolis yet, hard hitting, directly to the point and jammed perfectly. Excllent orchestration or rather direction of the band by that, uh bass guy towards the end of it. I don\'t even know what to say about him, he sure do like them balloons, though...that goofy son of a bitch.
Without a doubt Buquebus has reached yet another level of greatness. I really don\'t know what to say about this one, pretty crazy from the start, the very good sized crowd filled the dance floor pretty much right away for this one. I can\'t really do it much justice by talking about it, though. But still, i don\'t see how it could\'ve been any better. However, after the whole, "...eat your breakfast \'cross the nation..." this song just exploded, Tim began a solo that was simply scorching, some of his best playing I\'ve seen in a long time or even at all for that matter, it was furious, intense, purposeful, and any other word that would describe a solo. Shit. There were so many peaks it was just silly, every time ya\'d get the feeling it would come back around, it would come back for more, I have to say the final peak was one of the craziest I\'ve ever heard them play, it could NOT have been any better, imo.
One of the best parts of the night however which kinda shows that regardless of how well they play, they can still be unsure or self-conscious. As we walked out, Tim was sitting by himself in the back of the van waiting for Chris, and he was kinda quiet, he ask how we liked it, we said it was great and he seemed a bit, modest or a bit un-convinced, kinda like, "really?" he said he thought his solo during Buquebus was "pretty good", and he kinda liked it, if he only knew...
I don\'t recall seeing any evidence of the show being recorded. I hope it was. That Buquebus was legendary...
Great sized crowd. Cool little place, kinda weird that you could smoke in there. Great fuckin\' time, well worth the trip, I\'ll def go again...

damn, any monster queeb show i hope was recorded, good review ren

sounds incredible. fantastic writing too

Definitely the best Buquebus I\'ve ever seen, Metropolis too. Oh and See the Light was pretty fantastic also! :)
-
how was the first jam in queeb ?
-
please please say someone taped?!?! klout did you see anything?
-
jam>HLH>jam was right up there with the noho HLH. for ser.
best metro ever played. no question. reworked and much tighter.
Best queeb I have ever seen.
Best bass lines ever heard at a breakfast show, hand down.
The STL with the sitin was great as well.
They were simply on fire last night.
Have never seen these four listening and playing off each other so fluidly.
They were just LOCKED IN the whole set.
New level of tightness and achievement for this band.
Cant wait to see where it goes from here.
Well done boys.
-
please please say someone taped?!?! klout did you see anything?
I could swear I saw someone with taping equipment set up, but I\'m guessing they were there for the other band...I really don\'t know.
-
i think klout saw something.
-
Well, if I had known about the fireworks and balloons....................
-
...yep, nothing like, ripping down a couple balloons, and listening to some sick j. geils, while everyone goes, "bum. bum, bum, ba, ba, ba," to the music. that was some of the worst "lot" music i\'ve EVER heard. it was somewhat amusing to watch, though.
yo, booz, i think either two 10 oz. buds for 4 balloons, or 11 balloons for $10 would\'ve probably been a deal they could not have rejected.
"...angel is a centerfold!!!..."
-
Thanks to all that came out last night. Great show and great turnout. Props to the Box. Oh yeah, Ren It was awesome chilling out in your home turf of good old Wilkes-Barre.:D
-
wow this all looks incredible...dont they always tear it up at this venue?
HLH as good as noho?!?! now that SER

Breakfast/Indobox tour in the works??

Breakfast/Indobox tour in the works??
Every time they get together with another band (TLG, Indobox....) it seems like the admiration grows on both sides and the success is mutual. Almost everyone on .info thought they hated TLG before Ridgefield. Breakfast sits in with them and we hear praise about both bands from each\'s fanbase. Foster the alliances and "let\'s keep this wild and crazy music going".
-
I dig the setlist. They are taking some tricks from the disco biscuits book but it\'s a good thing, they are probably the only two bands that do that. It keeps us fans wanting to come back for more.
I say keep mixin it up guys, you are about to get huge!!!! and I am really bummed im gonna miss ya\'ll in CO, i would promote the shit out of those shows. bad f\'ing timing
-
how was the first jam in queeb ?
Bluesy/funky as hell. Tim was really laying it down for this one. Best song of the night.
please please say someone taped?!?!
I\'m pretty sure there were 3 rigs set up. Hopefully at least one of them recorded and will make it available.
wow this all looks incredible...dont they always tear it up at this venue?
Yes, they do. More people need to make it out to this venue. Although I\'ve never been to the Stone Church, from what I\'ve heard I\'d expect these two to be fairly similar in overall vibe, attendance and level of play. Basically, venues you don\'t want to miss a show at.
yo, booz, i think either two 10 oz. buds for 4 balloons, or 11 balloons for $10 would\'ve probably been a deal they could not have rejected.
"...angel is a centerfold!!!..."
Yeah, what was up with those 10oz Bud cans. That\'s blasphemous if you ask me. You\'re supposed to make beer cans bigger (like the $1.50 16oz PBR cans in the venue) not smaller.
Preshow fireworks were very unexpected. It was a full blown 4th of July display right across the street and it lasted about 25-30 minutes. Not a bad way to pass the time in the lot. Solid show all around and great party atmosphere after the show in the lot until 3am. Indobox impressed me as well. I only caught the last 3 songs of their set but they tore apart War Pigs and their last song was very Queeb/May Fly-esque.

If See the Light is always invereted, why not change the notation to be *not inverted
-
the show was mos def recorded by my buddy Jon Merin. and another friend but he doesnt post shows. Merin will track it and get it out to people via b/t or archive.
-
nice,i wanna hear the new parts in metro, felt pretty cool.
-
yeah, brah!
-
the metro was freakin awesome.
-
any word?
I been trying to track down a copy all week.
Apparently the indo taper couldnt be bothered to push record at the start of the bfast set even though their gear was all set up. They got the whole indo set though for the three people on earth who care.
emailed the house sound guy for a possibility of a SBD. no response.
The other guy doesnt post shows...still trying to figure that one out....
Merin will be my freakin hero for life if he comes through.
This show was so good.
Sorry for the rant.
-

It\'s probably the same dude who recorded the May \'07 show at River St. The EP3 that night was one of the best I\'ve heard. Too bad it never made it into circulation.
-
They got the whole indo set though for the three people on earth who care.
well, there were a lot of people there for the Box. and they killed shit i thought.
merin will get it out when he has the time. i asked him to comeout and tape my bday so i cojuld relive it. so it will def be heard again.
and tommy just tapes for himself. lots of people tape and dont release thier shows. its a personal preference.
and the may 07 show was taped by another friend of mine brandon hughes who is just a lazy bastard. i have been bugging him for that show since. and one of the other riverstreet shows as well

If See the Light is always invereted, why not change the notation to be *not inverted
Because there would be hundreds (probably) of versions of See the Light from 1/16/99 to 8/7/03 (the first time it was inverted) that would then be incorrect (or that would need to be fixed) in the setlist archive. More importantly, the song was not-inverted when it was released on Deuce, which created a precedent for the "correct" way the song is played.
Furthermore (because I really have nothing else to do), since it is common practice for "jam bands" to invert songs, it is not an exception, but rather is the rule that "See the Light" be noted as such.

^nice explaination drew, well phrased
