I occasionally visit jambase.com to view PB related info. so I often see the names of other jam scene bands listed. Can you discuss other bands with an intense music approach that may be similar to PB or are worth checking out. If anyone is a novice on the list, it is me because I really don\'t know most of those bands. I have seen a few of them like Addison Groove Project (they\'re ok) and like the music of greyboy/Karl D. I\'m sure most of the bands are nothing like PB but want to hear some analysis. I may want to check some of it out eventually.
Please fell free to discuss any of the bands that frequently make the news and lists of Jambase and discuss the good and the bad.
Who else is worth a listen?
Thanks for any information you can provide the jambase rookie

Let me save AJ the trouble...
Scarecrow Collection

UMPHREES!!

Scarecrow Collection is worth the listen for sure. aJ pimps them for a reason. Alot less intense than PB but vocals are great, jams are a little loose, but they rock.
-
Ya...no one really comes close to the PB(I try to tell my friends that and they tend to disagree).
I would highly recommend checking out some Assembly of Dust. Although they sound pretty much nothing like PB, they have a nice vibe to them. I like the energy. I have only heard one show by them...but from what I heard...I am impressed.

AOD is one of my favorite bands right now. Reid is an awesome songwriter and his band has 2 members of Percy Hill in it!!!
More of the Americana vibe or as they have described it cow rock but very very good.
-
I\'ll also add North Mississippi Allstars and New Monsoon to the list.
-
pb is playing with aod in the not too far future.just not sure of the date.
-
been listening to a lil ekoostik hookah myself, nice sound they got goin.
-
Freddie you better not be pullin\' my chain. AOD and PB in the same building ?????? Dude YOU HAVE TO GET ME THAT SHOW if I can not get out there for that. Are you sure?? Come on now use your "pull" and find out. Please Dawg.

Damn why does it have to be so sticky?
Man I have a little over a month to find some cash. Wow this is gonna be one hell of a show. The intensity in ten cities of PB then roll into the smooth hippie vibe w/ AOD. If ever there was a need for me to make a trip to MD. this is it.
-
wow, that can make a great roadtrip, I leave school that thursday for spring break and my roomate is from/lives in Baltimore, I can see PB and save his ass cash for a plane ticket

I would die to go to that show! AOD has been on my car stereo for the last 2 weeks...nonstop. I just listen to that show over and over again!

Can you guys elaborate more on jazzy and funky bands that may have some intensity or good groove.
i hate bands like guster and all that folky or bluegrass stuff
thanks for the guidance

New Deal, Motet, SCC just a few you can probably catch out there.
Just a point and click made site but I\'m proud of what I did and just doing my part to spread the word abt PB/TBhttp://www.leithsfaves.fanspace.com/ (http://www.leithsfaves.fanspace.com/)

Motet is a definate must! If you havn\'t checked out the slip they are great. Motets live disc is really cool and The Slips ALIVEELCTRIC Cd is awsome. I know a might get some crap for this one, but I really enjoy Sound Tribe Sector 9 really good vibe from that band. You go to sts9.com click on the community link and then click sts9 radio and find their Sesons 01 recording..... some good stuff. Stanton Moore album "Flying the Coop" is a must listen if you like jazz/funk. Sex Mobs album "Dime Grind Palace" kicks it. I could go on and on but check out Miles Davis\' recordings with his 60\'s quintet and you will find a whole new world of music.(Miles Smiles and Sorcerer are fantastic albums bitches brew is pretty cool also.) Difinetly check out the miles!

if you like funky, i would definitely check out Galactic.
-
Just listen to Umphrey\'s McGee.........and Steve Kimock Band, you\'ll be set then;)

Charlie Hunter (quartet)
Greyboy Allstars
Karl Denson\'s Tiny Universe
DJ Greyboy
Galactic
Maceo Parker
Soulive
Did I mention Greyboy Allstars? OOOHHH YEAH!
-
Greyboy Allstars- San Diego\'s Pride and Joy!!!!
KDTU would not exist w/o \'em and neither would Robert Walter\'s 20th Congress. I think maybe Galactic would not be so popular if not for the trailblazing of Greyboy also. Just a thought.

hahaha when I saw someone suggest Assembly of Dust to Al I knew that wouldn\'t go over that well.
I don\'t like \'em that much either. I mean, I think they\'re alright. The guy puts his heart into his music I think, so props for that. But that fact aside... it\'s just pleasant music to listen to.
-
Al check out Joshua Redman id you need a jazzy fix.
-
Joc, you fucking beat me to it.........;)

-
i really like that intense Herbie Hancock funk jazz from the 70\'s. is there anything that may be a parallel to that?
I also liike Karl Denson and Greyboy from what i\'ve heard.
-
If you like Herbie Hancock, check out Freddie Hubbards album "Red Clay"! He plays on it, and it is just a great album.
-

Damn, I really wish I lived up that way now. In the last 3 days I have downloaded 3 AOD shows, and I am loving them!

Is there anyone that may want to tade some music with me? I would like to get my hands on some of the people you have mentioned: Freddie Hubbard, Karl Denson, Herbie Hancock (Thrust, Headhunters etc.), Greyboy, any other bands that may be worthwhile. Criteria for worthwhile bands includes funky jazz or Intense music similar to PB.
I can find some stuff to trade if anyone is interested in giving me some exposure to these artists.
