Outstanding show....I was swept up in a swirl of intense, intense, beautiful music. Mayfly, damn, just the whole show was great.

Klout, I tried to stay up front but was only up their for Buquebus, which was a doorway too another realm, the lights, the strobe....whoa. I just had to hang back a bit. Too loud! My ears are feeling it, but my soul is feeling the warm glow today! Had to bust out of there early this morning, hope everyone has a great day today.

Yes....ser face ownage.

I think STL was inverted.

sick show as per.

dont think it was taped.

second set was much better than it even looks on paper.

there was a long intro jam to mayfly too and the queeb was way over a half an hour and included bass solo. Psygn>rush was also phenomenal.

The jam from Buquebus > Gladys went more like: Drum & Bass duel > jam > Space jam > Gladys. The space jam brought me right back to Space during a Dead show. Absolutely unreal.

What a SER little festie in the middle of nowhere upstate NY.  2nd set was monstrous, too bad it wasn\'t taped, I was pretty drunk and would like to listen to these phenominal jams again some day, but oh well. The next day was pretty brutal between my severe hangover and my overheating car, but luckily Gabin and I made it back to Newhampsh unscathed (for the most part). I wish I couldv\'e been hardcore and made it to the latenight set last night but with work at 6 this morning, it was not in the cards. Klout/Doozetraveler, I had a blast camping with you\'s gus.

there was mad heads watching the show. Hard to say exactly how many but I\'d say at least 400 throughout the whole field. Definitely the largest breakfast crowd I have seen since moe down. It was quite a spectacle. Lights looked good and it was very loud but well mixed. The setting was really beautiful. Big dome of trees and a lot of open air. The band definitely stepped it up and played great. Very synched up and tasteful sound throughout the whole night. No aimless wanking whatsoever. The jams all had a very full, mature, open air rock and roll sound.

Title: My Sterling Adventure
Post by: groovinlumens on May 27, 2008, 12:01:40 pm
My evening started out at around 5pm on saturday as i awoke from a nap with my son Blaze who would be celebrating his first b-day at the strike of midnight.(which he did not see)I step out of my camper to the sounds of "hey you come here" from across the street of our camping neighborhood. It is Zee (manager and part owner of The Electric Company in Utica,NY) and he takes me into his camper and procedes to start me off with a well lets just say that in an hour i better be set up and ready to go because the thinking process was about to get difficult. Thanks ZEE!!!

I head back over to my camper and change my outfit and get ready to go to work. Doing lights for the B-fast makes it the best day of the year!! I head down to the stage to find the guys are there and me and Ellis start putting our two systems together and for the first time it actually went pretty flawless so that started everyone out on the right foot. i could tell this night would be interesting.

I knew that coma was the opener so i could get a program ready but didn\'t want to know the rest. I like surprises. first set was amazing. everything was tight, and almost appeared to be flawless even though my mind was probably not in the best state for evaluation but i enjoyed the hell out of it. The psygn>rush>cult was hot!!! Second set was kind of a blur because i had steven, gavin and ellis laughing hysterically in my ear all set. I think the balloons and opi were responsible for that. The gladys jam was stellar and long. I do remember that.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone(ellis, steven, gavin, todd, and the boys) for the best sat night I have had in a long time!! Hope you enjoyed the complimentary NO2 tank provided by your friendly lighting company!!! I know ellis enjoyed it as he was laying on the ground back stage after taking a header from it!!! Down goes upstate,Down goes Upstate!! The best part is we all were laughing to hard to help the poor guy up off the ground. Sorry Ellis I had to do it to ya!!

The show was incredible and for it being my first Chris experience I loved it and his bass solo was off the hook!! Rush was stupid!! Every tunes had an amazing jam and the boys let it all hang out!! The crowd was great. I would guess somewhere in the range of 400-500 watching the show. But if you know anything about sterling there were another 400-500 sitting at their campfires less than a 100 yds away so it was a good night. The official head count was in the 1300-1400 range for the fest. I had lots of peeps compliment the band the next day. Really good vibe going around sterling on sunday about the night before.

We did video tape the first complete set but unfortunately ellis\'s lights are too dark to get any good footage from the second set so we just stopped taping it the second set. I yelled at my guy for not running it all the way so we could at least get the audio but i think the first set overall was a bit better.

Hope everybody had a great time and can\'t wait to see the boys again at Sterling. If you didn\'t go then you missed out on the best party in upstate all summer. Two night at the Electric company in Utica is next on the radar. See everybody there.

Groovin\' Lumens

I think your about right though....400-500 watching in the field and another 400-500 listening from all over the venue because you can hear the music amazingly well through out the whole place! Cant wait for next year....two sets of breakfast both nights??? :D

Post by: groovinlumens on May 27, 2008, 01:33:59 pm
I barely survived two sets on one night!!! And i doubt the crew could take two nights. Ellis would end up with a concussion, Steven would laugh himself until he strained an abdominal and Timmy\'s eyes would be the size of saucers still the next day!!!  Oh wait his eyes were the size of saucers!

I already know for a fact that montbleau will be the sat night headliner so if they play at it, it will be friday night two sets. sorry.

I understand. Just wanted to make it clear that I am a responsible parent and would never put myself or my kid in that situation. When i am spending time with my family i am the sober, responsible family man. If the family isn\'t around I like to let loose sometimes. Next time i will post more clearly. Sorry for giving the wrong impression.

Leith - I don\'t want to argue symantics, but nowhere did it say that his wife and kid left.  In my opinion, just because you didn\'t do it in front of your kids, if you are around them in that state of mind, I\'m not down with it.  That being said, I\'m not going to crucify the guy for having a good time; it wasn\'t done in front of or around the kid, so I don\'t have an issue with it.

The jersey hater\'s gotta chime in..........

I\'ve had my time of craziness as most do, but I\'ve moved on from that

If I\'m a little off-kilter on this topic it mainly due to the fact that I have a cousin that was a mensa and went paranoid/schizophrenic (spelling) after doing too many hallucinagens.  I didn\'t really know him growing up (even though he lived up the block from me), but it makes me think twice the topic.

That being said, do whatever the hell you want to your own bodies.

First.

His schizophrenia was always there the drugs would have just sped the process along. Those drugs do not do what you are blaming them for.

Let me guess he was really smart and sometime in his 20\'s he got all loopy ?

Yeah it was around that time, but it also came after he continued to gobble large amounts of acid.  I\'m not saying that his condition wasn\'t always there, but I\'m sure that it wasn\'t helped by his urge to alter his state of mind on a constant basis.  And yes, he was brilliant.

Again, I\'m not telling anyone how to live their life; my original comment was related to indulging in front of little ones, which I don\'t agree with.

Quote from: Schizophrenia.com
Street Drugs increase risk of Schizophrenia - use of street drugs (marijuana/hash - cannabis, etc.) have been linked with significantly increased probability of developing schizophrenia. Psychiatrists in inner-city areas speak of cannabis being a factor in up to 80 per cent of schizophrenia cases. Researchers in New Zealand found that those who used cannabis by the age of 15 were more than three times (300%) more likely to develop illnesses such as schizophrenia. Other research has backed this up, showing that cannabis use increases the risk of psychosis by up to 700 per cent for heavy users, and that the risk increases in proportion to the amount of cannabis used (smoked or consumed).

Today, there are over 30 published papers linking marijuana to schizophrenia or other mental disorders. Schizophrenia can sometimes be triggered by heavy use of hallucinogenic drugs, especially ***; but it appears that one has to have a predisposition towards developing schizophrenia for this to occur. There is also some evidence suggesting that people suffering from schizophrenia but responding to treatment can have an episode as a result of use of ***. Methamphetamine and PCP also mimic the symptoms of schizophrenia, and can trigger ongoing symptoms of schizophrenia in those who are vulnerable.

 congrats.  you\'re both right! ;)

I didn\'t realize a simple paragraph that included a nap with my kid and having some fun would spark such an in depth conversation about the effects that drug usage has on the brain and mental state of a human. And just to clarify. I don\'t gobble mass amounts of drugs. I have a little extra fun about twice a year and an outdoor breakfast show just happens to be one of those times.

Hey oldnewbie -
If you think I\'m an ass, good for you.  Unlike a lot of people on the board who just follow the flow (and that\'s okay too), I speak my opinion no matter how different or unpopular it may be.  I may have only been to 1 show in the past 6 years, but fans of the band from 99 to the present know that I have no problem stating my opinion.  I only posted in this tread because I took issue with what I thought was partying with drugs around kids (which I don\'t agree with); upon further explanation, I took back some of my alarm.  If my opinion of not having drugs around a kid makes me an ass, then you can call me the king ass till you\'re blue in the face.  If you have an issue with me posting my opinions because they\'re different than the rest of the flock, well then piss off and use the ignore button and you won\'t have to read any of my comments.  Capice?
