Yes. He did appear with Tim a while back at a Richters\' show for an epic Buquebus.
-

There was a real decent turn-out last night and everyone was digging the show. The highlight of the show was definitely Cobb\'s sit-in. Excellent Peaches this evening.
My eyes are burning from being so tired right now that I will have to wait to talk more about it.

coming clean...
i had known about the jim cobb sit-in for a couple weeks. however, it was originally supposed to be a different tune. having heard JC play before, and knowing what he\'s capable of, i knew it was going to be epic, so i posted in the knit chase thread for everyone to NOT miss the show, because great things would be going down.
soon after i posted that, i received a pm from jim, asking me not to get everyone too riled up, as the original plan was nixed. he was still sitting in, but on a different, less-exciting (IMO) song.
by this time, there was already speculation of what the big secret was. i wasn\'t sure what to do, so i made up something completely false that i thought NO ONE would believe, to try to make people think \'oh, there\'s not really anything planned, it\'s just gonna be a good show\'.. so i said they were gonna unshelf 3 originals (Love Lake, Za, and Heather), and debut a new cover and a new original. much to my surprise, a lot of people believed me!
as i was watching the responses pour into the thread, i felt slightly guilty.. but i started seeing people saying that they were on the fence, or not going at all, but now they were definitely making it. so i said, you know what? screw it. if starting a false rumor gets people to this show, i can deal with some folks being pissed at me afterwards..
a few people had asked the band about said rumor, and no one knew what they were talking about. i told the band the story on the way to the show yesterday, and before that conversation ended, we got a "let\'s soundcheck Love Lake and see what happens"! :D
well they soundchecked it, and it was the first time they\'ve played it together in close to 3 years. it was awesome. it felt SO great to be hearing them playing it again. felt like old times. i knew just by the sound of it that there was no question it would be played during the show. they threw together a new ending for it (dropped the harmonies, added a short guitar solo, and blues\'d out the ending), and it was added to the setlist!
also, while writing the setlist, they were discussing doing one of the other songs i\'d mentioned, but decided against it, so maybe we\'ll see another unshelving soon.
i need to start rumors more often! ;)

SCHEME! SCHEME! SCHEME! Cobb himself hints at it in the 01/21 setlist thread.
-
oh, it should also be noted that the song Cobb ended up doing was neither Song A or Song B, but Song C (DMB).
-
fuck, i am gonna go kick the shit out of myslef for missing this show.
:banghead:
-
lets just say dmb was suggested on friday and decided on saturday.
-
My highlights=Drunk Monk Bar / Score > Beef Barley^^ > Buquebus >/ Sleeping Beauty / Wild Pack Of Asscracks
Second set woke the place up. Alot of erotic dancing going on in the crowd. Little crazyness...........

50-100?
100-150?
150-200?
200-250?
more?
Sorry, I\'m just curious.
-
160 paid, so figure about 175-180 total.
place holds about 250 tops (if it fills, they open the doors to the back bar so it could technically hold about 350-400), so a good amount of the main room/balcony was filled.
-
as usual, bfast played an awesome show, place was filled out well as said before, highlights for me were dmb and buquebus...and always awesome to hear peaches
-
the beef barley jam was something special, and the buquebus was extra-monsterous. best to date? hmm....
-
Sounds like migrating from the Lion\'s Den was a good move.
-
Yow-za!!
-
buquebus=stooopid
-

The Beef Barley jam was smooth and different. I am going to back you up on this being the best Buquebus to date, it was really rockin\'!
2nd show this year and I feel like this isn\'t the same band they were in 2005. Almost to the point of playing on a completely different level. They sound better, they play better, the lights are better. The band is just plain ol\' betta than last year.

Wow, that\'s a big claim - though knowing this band\'s skill and potential, I\'m sure it\'s an accurate reflection of the 2006 shows to-date.
Can\'t wait to hear that soundboard release ;)
-
you won\'t hear any soundboard release of last night\'s show, since the knit wanted to charge us $50 for a board patch..
-
killer night, i had an awsome show. the headie parking spot was key. i can\'t even pick out a highlight but the sit in was SICK. I have to convert my pics and get my new Jim C avatar up. thanks all for a sick ass night.

You\'ll hear soon enough and know what I am trying to say. It is difficult to actually say what is different but it is a feeling I get when they are playing. It feels that the band has more confidence and beginning to develop an attitude with there balls to the wall style. It may very well be that they are looking much more professional then before, IMO.
$50 for a soundboard patch? That is crazy. I\'m sure the audience copies came out stellar b/c the sound was really good.
-
Jam>Son of Simpleton to open 2nd set? Damn ok! Rock that shit. Love Lake return, TFA and Peaches? Hope to hear this one.
-
dancing with Walsh and Stevie during the technotrancy buquebus jam was one of my best breakfast moments
-
standing up sequoia=ser
-
Jordan sounded great last night. The keys could be heard crystal clear.
-
honestly had no clue Cobby was playing until i saw him with his case before hand. u rocked DM like it should be, well done. hope to be there for any future sit ins u may do. Score..Buquebus..Beef. where to start, Tribal..solid crowd until the end (330/4am??) , DRUM SOLO, Lovelake (thats my \'heady ass shit!!\' remark when they finished it , Tim responds..\'heres something heady, and rips into LDZ) . can not wait to sit back and hear/watch this show.
-
Well................
I was one of those people that wastn\'t gonna go. I was gonna try and save some $$$ and brain cells for Mill St. But alas Dave told a ridiculous lie and somehow rangled me in.Lemme tell you what.................. I\'m soooooo glad he did. I had a great time ended up actually getting the Love Lake. A NASTY Queeb, the guys honestly were on their game all night. Very glad I changed m6y tune at the last minute. Dave, I love when you lie to me.
-
awesome shit. Cobb you must feel fulfilled. i envy you. real excited to hear this show.
TB a better band in \'06? they shall make mountains crumble.
-
I told Freddie in the Shady-Acres that that was the best Buquebus ever!!! I do have to listen to it again first, but the BB->Queeb was the HIGHlight of the show. Second best monent of the show...Love Lake. Great times all around.

I didn\'t make it down to new york but the Syracuse show last week was a solid notch above anything I\'ve seen Breakfast pull before. I can\'t wait to listen to the NY recording, and I couldn\'t be more psyched for Mill Street.
Based on peoples reactions in this thread I don\'t think Syracuse was a fluke... Breakfast is steppin it up once again!
-
i have been meaning to post something about this show but honestly haven\'t fully recovered yet...
had a lot of fun and enjoyed some great songs thrown into the setlist on saturday. i think that the show had a very good turnout and i was definitely satisfied with my first bfast show of 2006. ser to hear peaches, tribal, beef barley, son of simpleton, wpoac and a few of my other breakfast favorites. queeb was intense, but i still think that the puppet house version takes the cake. also, jim sitting in on drunk monk bar was fucking AWESOME!! way to go jimboooo.. had a great night with great people, can\'t wait for the next show! someone please post some photos!!
-
Bezerker found me just as Buquebus ended and whispered "Better than the Puppet House?" to me, in which I replied, "Definitely". However, like Walsh stated, I want to hear this one again before "officially" labeling the best to date but this Buquebus definitely had a unique sound.

what time did they end up playing until?
i had to leave early... :(
-
adrian using mallets on the drums for the queeb jam was pretty fucking ser.
-
Jam->S.O.S was the 2nd set opener on my BDay setlist I wrote...hmmm
-
Protected by a wall of green
Remoteness that you have never seen
Isolate that year was great to vent
Your soul clean, venting your soul clean
venting your soul clean, at this Love Lake
this section of the song was not recited at the knit. hmmmmmm
-
o ya
-
Great show all around. Best New York show in a while. I agree Jordan sounded great, as did the whole band. Dobson and Ellis both did a great job. That room never sounded that good before.
-
the wake up in a coma definitely had the old/ new inversion didn\'t it dave ??
-

it sure did..
i posed the question to tim last week, asking if it would be played that way from now on (making it a new version).. i had to explain to him what the versions were exactly - that the old version was the fast one (at the beginning), and the new one was the slow, floydish one (now the ending).. he said he wasn\'t sure, and that they just mold it to whatever fits from show to show...
-
I just posted some pics from the night

Unique sound is right! My god the tribal drumming ambient jam was blowing my mind listening to it on disc. In person must have been ..... Then the chaos after that w/ Jordan playing ripping space sounds and the beat just getting faster. whoooo!
I do believe if there is a challenger list to go against Puppet House I would rank this the number one contender just ahead of Madison 11/11/05.
-
Oh and Jim seeing your pic w/ the guys and having heard you playing w/ them it is confirmed in my mind you were born to be on the stage melting faces!

thanks leith, i should hope thats what i\'ve been born to do, cuz i can\'t do much else... haha...
-
2005-11-11 Buquebus is definitely among the best... I think there might have been one I liked better but I can\'t seem to dig it up at the moment. Maybe it was this one hehe.
2nd vote goes to 2002-04-20 (CLASSIC SER PB), this whole show is off the old school hook.
2006-02-04 Buquebus didn\'t really stand out for me. But I wasn\'t at the show so I didn\'t get to witness it in person ;)
