:banana::thumbsup::banana: FIRST PLACE!!! :banana::thumbsup::banana:
On his 25th birthday, Adrian took first place in tonight\'s first Guitar Center "Store" Drum-Off for 2004!
10 contestants competed, with the top 3 (4 tonight, with a 3rd place tie) moving on to the Store Finals on Tuesday, October 5th. 2 more \'store\' rounds will be held the next 2 Tuesdays, with the top 3 from each of those moving onto the Store Finals as well.
Adrian was the 2nd drummer to play tonight, and did so to a crowd of people yelling and cheering him on the entire time. No other drummer got an ovation like Adrian did, and it wasn\'t because he had a lot of friends there - he deserved it!
I can\'t remember the last time I smiled so hard and for so long that it hurt, but immediately after Adrian hit his first drum tonight, I knew it was his, and the shit-eatin\' grin on my face wasn\'t going anywhere anytime soon!
So once again, Adrian moves on, and will compete in the Store Finals at Guitar Center in Orange, CT on Tuesday, October 5th. Wish him the best!
of note - the guy who won the Orange store finals last year placed 2nd to Adrian tonight. great drummer. extremely technical and syncopated, but more composition than improvisation.
:banana::thumbsup::banana: GO ADRIAN!!! :banana::thumbsup::banana:

Have a blast!
-
That is right folks, I am just now returning from Guitar Center to tell all of you that our buddy Adrian "ANIMAL" Tromantano has won the finals for the Orange store tonight.
There was some good competition(Sleeper, Lonnie, etc) but it was our boy in the end...That was nerve-racking. I will say that it was some of the most intense drumming that I have personally seen out of the man they call Animal. He finished his set off with a nice loud crack from one of the display snares that were up on the wall behind him and the faces on the judges said it all...JAWS ON THE FLOOR!!!
One word...SER!
walsh, i\'m gonna go ahead and merge this with the main drum-off thread... -dp
-
:banana::thumbsup::banana: ADRIAN WINS!!! :banana::thumbsup::banana:
That\'s right, as Walsh said, Adrian won the Orange, CT Store Finals tonight. He was a nervous wreck, but I think the rest of us were pretty confident. No one could touch him, and the buzz in the crowd was almost as enjoyable as seeing him actually play.
Adrian moves on to the District Finals in Boston, MA on Monday, October 25th! I will absolutely be driving up to support him, and anyone in CT who wants a ride up, you got it (room permitting)! Let\'s keep on supporting, congratulating, and believing in him, and let\'s take him all the way! Great night. Keep it going.
-
Go animal!
-
What are the details of the Boston competition? I would love to hang with my Breakfast crew if the circumstances permit.
Keep me posted!
-
The guitar Center link posted earlier in this thread won\'t load for me so would someone please tell me what prizes Adrian has captured and which one(s) he is contending for in Boston?

Hey dave, count me in! I\'m off tuesday, so it doesn\'t matter when I get back. Kicking myself for missing it last night! :(
-
What a night! Topped off with a very Smokin Boomer!
Excellent job by Joe and Alanie (sp?). If it wasn\'t for Adrian\'s incredible performance, you guys would have been battling for the crown!
-
Pardon me for not being an informed Stavenite, but should I know who Alani is?
-
alani is the crazy cat who is pretty often seen around at shows..more so in the past though..hes in a band gspot tornado, hes a drummer, his influences are adrian"animal"tramantono, hes an aries,he enjoys long walks on the beach, body waxes, pornography, puppies, changing tires, gypsy catching, and driving on the highway..hes from the area of staven where they talk kinda weird and has been on many bus trips, and is notorius for the saying NO SLEEPING
-
ONLY DRINKING!!!

I hate to quote myself, but I really would like to see you all if I get the info. I guess we still have a couple of weeks to make plans.
Freddy - Welcome back from detention!

I was hoping the Boston competition would be within walking distance of my building downtown.
If you guys are planning on going out for food or something, I will drive up to work that day then meet y\'all.

Provided this is on the 26th and that we\'ll be coming home (relatively) right after the competition, I\'d like to claim a seat.

bump for tomorrow. first post updated with info.

I\'m going to have to withdraw from attendance. The Guitar Center website failed to mention that the Red Sox would be in the World Series. Plus, I\'ve already missed a ton of class to catch Sox games. Good luck Animal.

I totally forgot about the drum off tonight. I was going to drive up here to work so I could head out to Natick for the evening. Wow, I can\'t believe I forgot. I was really planning on going.
-
whew! i don\'t know how much more of this i can take.. nine drummers competed tonight. adrian played 8th. he was up against some fierce competition tonight - one guy in particular who gave us all a scare. but adrian did what he had to do. he got on the drums, did his thing, and wowed everyone there.
the \'MC\' of the night would hold up a piece of paper when each drummer had 30 seconds (of their 5 minutes) left. when he held adrian\'s up, adrian kicked it from high gear into red bull adreneline rush rocket fuel gear.. he just let out this enormous yell while he absolutely obliterated the drums, then finished his solo off with the intro to Zeppelin\'s \'Rock And Roll\', with a piece of stick breaking off and flying away as he hit his last beat. the judges were on their feet, and were screaming! for all the other drummers, they showed no reaction at all. they were floored.
adrian came over and said he played the absolute best he possibly could. we were still a bit nervous while the judges were deciding the winner, but in the end, it was adrian on top!
adrian moves onto the regional finals in manhattan, on November 18th. details to follow.
i recorded the entire competition tonight, and i hope to have it available to download for you all by tomorrow night. i\'d do it now, but i gotta be up at 4am. :)
-
FUCK YEEEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!
-
Now maybe people will believe when I tell them how good Adrian is. Good shit, Animal.
-

So now I hear Adrian will be in the NYC finals..BRING THAT....only a trainride away.

Did you ever make it to a Callahan\'s show? Best Animal viewing EVER! Actually it was the best Breakfast viewing for any show I have ever been to. Behind the stage right on top of Animal.....SER
Who is taking the train into the city that evening?
What time/station do you plan on departing from???
-
Stevie,
How\'s about the 4:34 from Milford. Gets in at 6:19.
-
that is gonna be tough with work....
now maybe someone on this board (wink wink elbow elbow) can convince my boss to let me leave early, but that will probably be a longshot
-
That\'s what sick days are for! Get your ass on the train!!!
-
I am so pissed that this is in the evening! I was counting on it being in the afternoon. Don\'t they understand that musicians and their related production people work in the evenings?
Go Adrian!!!
-
i\'m gonna try to make it down. adrian\'s the man!!
-
bump for tomorrow!!
-
I\'ll be flying over Manhattan on my way out to CA after work so I\'ll ask the pilot if we can make a quick stop in town.
-
Best of luck to Adrian!
For those of you who make it, I\'m sure you\'ll be in for a memorable drum solo!
One of the best ever I\'m sure.
-
Anyone interest in taking the train? I\'m thinking either the 4:02 or 4:34 from Milford>NYC>Milford>Amberjacks/Pencildick.....

Like what the man said, but then who needs luck - we know Adrian is gonna stick it to \'em good!!!
-
if he does anything like what hes done at say the last Iron Horse or Webster, FORGET ABOUT IT....its in the bag. Cant wait to get the call from u lucky people that went
-
Is anyone comin to Milford tonight for Pencil*****?
-
:(
Adrian did not win. They announced the top 2, and he was not one of them. A fine effort though. There\'s always next year.
-
thats cuz the kids a machine behind that kit...no human drum machines alowed!
-
so, what does he win? grand prize was a car, does he get money or a drum kit or anything?
-
in total,he ended up with some guitar center money, some heads,a snare,a ton of sticks, but no drumkit, and no scion...
the competition was tough as nails...in perfect breakfastesque(has this word ever been used?)luck,he picked a 1 out of the hat and had to go on first..his solo was explosive, but lacked alot of the shit that he did at the other drumoffs, and iron horse and webster....the other drummers were exploring alot more of the kit,and showing off many styles of drumming..adrian just went ballistic, and that was it..the ending of his solo sounded sorta like bonzos montroux, but i could be wrong..over the winner was the hometown, nyc boy,who came equipped with at least 50 supporters, which helped.it also helped that the guy went on 6th,so he was fresh in the judges minds,or lackthereof..all in all,it was a great experience that im glad i witnessed..adrian personally wanted me to express to everyone whos been supporting him the whole was through how much he appreciates and is very grateful for all the support..
-
The competition was brutal. Adrian kicked ass, but so did the others. All six were great. One kid who I thought for sure was going to give Adrian a run for the gold didn\'t even place. Go figure.
And, don\'t forget, the local favorite who did win (who was incredible): this was his #6 time in the contest....
Great job Adrian!
-
Adrian is the man! congrats on making it this far. next year.
-
And on a happy note, Breakfast was heard on XM Radio on the way home! On Jamnation: Food for Thought from Bona Fide with some very flattering comments from the hosts Dean and Jeff....
-
hey mark,do you remember what the food for thought was??
-
"YOU CAN TAKE THE MAN OUT OF \'STAVEN, BUT YOU CAN\'T TAKE THE \'STAVEN OUT OF THE MAN"
So Chew On THAT!
-
good call..i havent heard that album since a long while...
-
You know it\'s funny neither had I. I put in my car about a month ago, and it\'s been in steady rotation ever since.
-

Hey Fredie, Cheryl and I have an extra scion we can give Adrian, it isn\'t a drum set though but if I had one to give him I would.
I think Adrian was robbed last night, he should have taken a second place at least. The fix was in for the NCY guy to win. Adrian is one of the best in our book and always exciting to watch, you\'ll get em next year bro.
Bill T.

bill, you da man...always,good seeing you guys!
