Post by: sąikidélik on January 04, 2010, 02:49:22 am
So i notice that .info does not have all the upcoming breakfast shows posted. I know jambase has a few other shows posted, but is that it? is there another place i should be looking? FaceWook? Myspace?

I think it\'s as simple as the calendar is only set up to go through 2009.  Once that\'s tweaked, it can be updated.

I would love to finally attend a Camp Barefoot.  The Breakfast x 2 + Fu is a pretty good reason regardless of who else is playing.

apparently that national park is gorgeous and remote. i have a buddy who went to school in harrisonburg, and that\'s where they\'d go whenever they were getting out into nature. no one\'s heard of the actual camp, but that doesn\'t really seem like a bad thing...

that\'s too bad, NYC is so rich with people, cash, culture...  The Breakfast should do great there.  It always amazes me that Raq can\'t get a hundred people to come out anywhere in New England but go into the city and sell out big venues.  TB should be able to as well.

off topic, but not worth a new thread...

fyi (to whomever) http://www.TheBreakfast.com is up for renewal soon: Domain Expiration Date: 26-Apr-2010.  Although the domain is locked, it would be a good time to buy out:
Mr Domain Admin (domains1@cherished.com)
PO BOX 28
San Perdo
Ambergris Caye,852963
BZ
Tel. +501.2261324

Since he/she is purportedly living it up in Belize and running the simplistic site for ad revenue, it should be easy to offer Mr. D Admin (if that\'s his real name) a small sum for the domain (which would redirect to http://www.thebreakfast.org).  neways, I figured I\'d throw it out there.  Also, might there be some copyright issue that could be leveraged?  I.e., if I registered http://www.microsoft.info (if it were possible) I\'d get sued and the domain would be turned over to the copyright holder, miscro$oft.  Again just tossing ideas around...
***

Breakfast tour continues! ;):);)

(Assuming you mean NH and not England)

I think you\'d be hard pressed to get them back to Manchester. They played at Milly\'s Tavern (http://www.millystavern.com/) and like 9 people showed up. There is really no music scene in that town. Penuche\'s (http://www.penuchesmanchester.com/) has live music, but it\'s small and just has local bands. Not sure they could/would handle the Bfast. I really can\'t think of anywhere else for them to play in Manch.

THIS is where they should be playing in New Hampshire:

Tupelo Hall (http://www.tupelohalllondonderry.com/)

It\'s a really nice place, they move the tables/seating for rock bands so people can get down, BYOB (small coolers allowed), good sound, etc.

Edit:

a couple of other places in Manch I forgot about:

Strange Brew (http://www.strangebrewtavern.net/index.html)

Kind of a biker bar, mostly has blues bands. Pretty darn good beer selection. Tiny dance floor, but a decent sized place. I like it here, it\'s a fun bar... I\'m not sure it\'s right for the Bfast. There\'s usually a good crowd here, however. They could probably pack it, and I bet some of those old biker dudes would dig the Bfast. Maybe worth looking into.

The Shaskeen (http://www.theshaskeen.com/index.html)

Place has two rooms/bars. They have Irish music in the front room and sometimes have other bands in the back room. I have seen a couple jammy type bands in the back. Kind of a meathead place though, and pretty small in that back room. This one is def last on the list.

Thanks for the feedback jocelyn.

I have a friend who works a Jillians and im sure they could fit in there. And the new cheese would def fit the crowd, could ask around if it would be considered. Also there is the Brew and southern new hampshire university. I use to go there and know some kids who run the student center.

And i understand the poor turnout at millys but that was 4 years ago. I think if they booked again it would be a different turnout. I remember that show well cause stevie was workin the door and i wasn\'t 21. Craziest set list too. I: Inner Glimpse > Hard Luck Harry*, Peaches En Regalia > Honey Butter, Fairy, Lit, May Fly Disarray, The Grand Scheme Of Things.

I have been bringing a bunch of new friends to the family and i think it would be worth another shot. If you want me to do anything on my end, I have plenty of time.

Oh I hadn\'t thought about Jillian\'s... I guess live music and that place don\'t go together in my head. (Kinda hate it there)

Milly\'s is such a weird place... It\'s always dead when I go there. The only music they do well with regularly is their Top 40 under 21 night and the "Kill Your Mother Music."

Actually, Skamasutra was pretty popular there too! Maybe it\'s with another shot...

Ithaca is the birthplace of Tunage! - 2/1/07. I will try to make this one, looks like an interesting place for a show.

haha the thumpty thump.  do it up.

Seriously, though, Thumpty is extremely excited for this.  The official event can be found at http://www.thumptymusic.com and this even might turn out to be one of the bigger bfast shows in a while!!  I did not know that Tunage was born here and I can only hope they give us a sweet version.  Maybe all the college kids could also inspire a rare cover from the guys?   We can only hope!

I live in Maine and am PUMPED UP about the Nateva Festival taking place in Oxford, Maine July 2-4. The lineup is STACKED, but why no Breakfast?!! It\'s a N.E. festival, its gonna be a HUGE draw, and two of TB\'s major influences are going to be there: Zappa plays Zappa and George Clinton and Parliment Funkadelic. What\'s the deal???

how do you hate the iron horse? they rip it up every time they play there and it\'s one of the few venues where a bunch of people show up and bring it every time. you dislike the management that much?
Title: Future Breakfast Shows
Post by: Igziabeher on March 16, 2010, 12:48:50 pm
I don\'t care about the management, just more often than not everytime i go there the show is 75-90 minutes and they end at like 1 o\'clock hard.  i like venues that aren\'t kicking you out the door when you\'re just getting loose.

plus there\'s only 1 bar with only 1 bartender, there\'s only one bathroom with a line to it every time, its just a logistics thing i guess.  i know the shows there rock, but they rock wherever they plug in so that isn\'t an issue for me.

For better or worse, The Iron horse is the only venue I can think of that has consistently been in the repertoire for 10 years straight; booking a few shows a year since 2000.  Now that Toad\'s is out, are there any other venues that have been played as consistently as IHAG?

That aside, they really run that place with zero emphasis on an enjoyable experience outside of the the music.  The wait outside in the cold, the beer situation, the crappy bathroom line and the arrogant staff/sound guys generate plenty of resentment.

Hmm.... might want to talk to PB4Lyfe ... I believe he\'s got some land up in Conway (15 minutes up the road from Northampton) and he keeps telling me he wants to throw a Breakfast show up there. We got a lot of crispy critters up in this neck of the woods and could make a serious camp-out of it.

I\'ll let him speak for himself when it comes to that though. Not that I already just didn\'t :P

Also... I\'m going to be buying some land I think in Sindey, NY. 20 minutes from Binghampton and 20 minutes from Oneonta. It\'s got like an acre of land, a barn, and a big farmhouse. I\'m thinking of turning this into a festival spot. BreakFest perhaps? I may be owning this within the next month or so and renovating it over the summer. Could be a real shindig for the end of the summer. Get some other local bands to play as well.

Should be a good time. I\'m pretty sure I could throw one heck of a fun little campout festival ;) ...

Will keep y\'all posted of course. peace!

do you go to UNH? maybe you could find out who puts on the solar fest? it might be too late to book it this year but they def should play solar fest at some point. They did Solar fest in Keene a couple years back and it was a great success. beautiful sunny spring day, hot college chicks all over drinkin beers on campus goodtimes. It\'s already been said before but they really need to make more of an effort to play college campuses. The amount of new potential fans at college campuses is wayyyy greater than than at random little bars.

Moe is playing another 2 night stand in Utica on June 4th and 5th (Fri/Sat) and the Electric Company doesn\'t have any shows booked as of yet. I know everyone remembers how epic the last combo weekend in Utica was (debut of Metropolis!). Hopefully something is in the works for round 2.

Where did it say I was blaming anything for anything? All I said was this was the first I\'ve heard of it.

I only blame the band and management for all the empty space at the shows. Its there job to fill it.

Hey Zuke - coming down on Geng and Spacey ain\'t the way to go either... It comes down to the fact that there are two types of fans on this site when it comes to TB:

1. Fans of TB
2. Fans of Tim and Adrian

The difference is that fans of Tim and Adrian are ultra-supportive of whatever project these guys do.  The TB fans want to see TB succeed, that\'s all...  So when people complain about the lack of TB shows, it\'s because they are a Type 1 fan and not a Type 2...

Then I\'m alone.  I love TB and it\'s music... Tim, Adrian, Ron, Jordan, Chris & Matt are all talented musicians that I think should have a long career in the industry, but divided to side projects, I\'m not that into the music...

You don\'t see it because you support Tim in everything he does as do a lot of people on the site, because they are friends of the band rather than fans...  Friends are great to have, but fans pay the bills...

If some of the old timers are moaning, it\'s because they saw TB in their glory... And just because a show is a DDDEEEEEWWWWWWW doesn\'t mean it\'s bad musically.  Take the CBC show that the band played Vortex; there was like 5 people there outside of me, Pec, Nicki and Freddie.  Vortex was a joke, a big FU because they were going to jam for 1/2 hour because they could and now people talk about Vortex as if Phish played a complete Gamehenge...

It\'s obvious where the focus is these days and those of us that are only fans of TB need to move on, myself included...

Well, on the start of most summers this band has had a pretty sparse schedule.... gotta get those festy spots ya know... so I\'m sure we could see August-September dates from a few of the usual area venues begin to fill in.

Dunno if that made sense but just sayin it always seems like theres not much to look forward too besides fests and a show here or there this time of year.

So... enjoy some festivals :)

Hey Yoda, screw you dude. TB\'s Glory Days are about to be 2011 and 2012, you\'re out of your element brah. Guess what, Kung Fu is making The Breakfast nearly twice as famous. It is happening. You\'re just not seeing it because you\'re dead to the scene these days. You\'re lucky the band didn\'t decide to say fuck you and cover Ace of Base that night for you.

True, but I figured with the Iron Horse show on 10/29 Halloween was pretty much accounted for.  Unless that\'s just rumored and not set in stone.  Plus, I did say "whenever that comes down the pike", so I am not saying it has to be soon or anything like that :).  I am just excited.  Had a great time seeing the Breakfast last year on 12/31.

Plus, it\'s never too early to book a NYE hotel.
