OK I know a few of us watch this show. Anyone catch the new epi last night w/ Julia Louis-Dreyfus ?
Man this show just gets better and better. This sunday\'s epi has her again.
Looks like a real good one.
-
i\'m mad i missed it! love that show; it\'s got excellent writing. reminds me of seinfeld, actually, in the way that everything sorta ties together at the end.
-
Funniest dysfunctional family on TV (non animated)
I loved the clips from the next episode at the end where Tibias is trying to rob Juila -Louis-Dreyfus. Classic

I\'m a huge fan of this show and Wednesday\'s episode was among the season\'s best. I can\'t wait for Sunday\'s conclusion, but I hope FOX moves it to Wednesday 9:30 permanently. Sunday 9:30 is a death-trap going up against The Sopranos. Arrested Development has yet to crack the top 70 in the ratings in that slot. But American Idol can finally contribute something worthwhile to society by paving the way for AD in the Wednesday slot. I\'m interested to see where this Wednesday\'s show ranked. I\'m hoping for at least top 40 and for AD to be a Wednesday fixture. Unfortuately, I think the show will rot if left on Sunday\'s and that\'s simply not fair because it\'s a quality show. It deserves a chance. The ratings need to match the critical acclaim.

leith - you are a mind reader.. i was gonna start this exact thread the day you did...
for those who have not seen the show, you are really missing out. probably the best show on network tv right now.. check out the website here (http://www.fox.com/arresteddev/).
the show really has not had a bad episode yet! it\'s absolutely hilarious, very well done, and the cast is perfect.
there\'s no better time than now to start watching - tomorrow (sunday), FX is airing the first SIX episodes beginning at 2:00 EST, followed by an all new episode on FOX at 9:30.. yes, it\'s sopranos time, but tape/tivo it. trust me.
-
WOW Thanx for the tip about FX Dave. I had not heard. So mini marathon niiiiiiiice !
-
Flipping channels and saw that AD just won a TV Land award for "Future Classic"
Neat little John Ritter video tribute too :)
And Lynda Carter is still Wonder Woman, man she looked good !
-
results of the wednesday show:
http://shorterlink.com/?G19VQY
FOX moved into the lead at 9 p.m. with a 10.5/17 average. The conclusion of "American Idol" jumped up to 14.9/23 and was followed by "Arrested Development," which dipped to 6.1/10 (still way above its season average).
-
It turns out last Wednesday\'s episode finished 34th in the ratings (with the American Idol lead-in) and the usual Sunday episode was 65th. The show typically finishes in the 75-85 area. I\'m hoping it can level off in 60\'s and gradually improve so cancellation won\'t be an issue. I\'m looking for a second season. Another new episode this Sunday at 9:30. I thought last week\'s double-bill with Julia-Louis Dreyfus was some funny shit.
Pitch

interestingly, episode 16 debuted on Sunday, while episodes 17 & 18 have already aired.
AD continues to be the most brilliant \'sit-com\' on tv.. i felt that for AD\'s standards, this was a mediocre episode, yet it still had tons of moments that had me lmao...
Kitty: "up here michael, up here."
George Michael: "talk you off what, pop-pop?"
An Yang being used as Luceille\'s purse! rotfl "he goes with everything."
Michael: "that\'s the seventh nipple i\'ve seen today!" :D
can\'t stress it enough - watch this show.

I don\'t really watch much TV to be honest. (With the exception of occasionally the History Channel or Animal Planet.) I don\'t want to start watching AD and then find myself in front of the tube every Sunday night. I hear it\'s great though.
Speaking of Animal Planet, I think I would probably marry the crocodile hunter. That guy is the greatest. I know, I know, he has a wife. That bitch. :slap:
-
I loved how the lawyer played by Henry Winkler pulled a"Fonz" in the mirror. Classic. Bits like that just keep me comin\' back.

An average episode this week, but still with plenty of laughs. Finished 69th in the ratings. Needs to be moved to 8:30 and follow the Simpsons.

Well i am trying to figure out if that really happened. i think i heard it on tv when i was asleep but i could still hear the tv. so it might have been a dream or something. or it might have been a joke on the simpsons this season and never really happened. i cant remember.

FOX Renews \'24,\' \'The O.C.\'
(Wednesday, April 21 11:15 AM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - With its summer programming slate already in order, FOX is looking forward to the fall, renewing a quartet of its strongest current offerings. The network announced on Wednesday (April 21) that Golden Globe winning drama "24," admired comedies "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Malcolm in the Middle" and popular freshman drama "The O.C." will be back for a full season next year.
Those four shows join previously announced renewals for "The Simpsons," "That \'70s Show" and "King of the Hill."
FOX Entertainment President Gail Berman also announced that late-night sketch comedy regular "MADtv" will be back for three additional seasons.
"We are delighted to bring back \'Bernie,\' \'Malcolm,\' \'24\' and \'The O.C.,\'" Berman says. "These celebrated and groundbreaking shows are the backbone of FOX\'s scripted programming and we\'re pleased that these outstanding series will remain a vital part of our year-round programming mix."
None of the four renewals was a real surprise, with the shows representing FOX\'s most watched a praised scripted offerings.
"Bernie Mac" has the smallest audience of the four, drawing 7.73 million per week. However, the show has been a solid performer in an array of time slots, currently helping to anchor Monday nights, nabbing an Emmy and multiple NAACP Image Awards along the way.
"Malcolm," which just celebrated it\'s 100th episode, averages 8.7 million viewers, though those numbers are down from 10.6 million through the same time last season. The comedy remains a reliable Emmy and Golden Globe nominee
Earlier this year, "24" captured its first Golden Globe for outstanding drama and after a rough creative start to its third season, recent episodes have garnered fresh critical acclaim. Despite drawing 9.93 million viewers per episode, the show is still off by nearly 2 million from last season.
Launching at the tail end of the summer, "The O.C." has become a reliable ratings winner among teens and young adults and, thanks to a recent "American Idol" lead-in, its audiences have risen to an average of 9.56 million for the season.
These four renewals leave FOX with only a few shows on the bubble for next season, notably Eliza Dushku\'s "Tru Calling" and the critically adored "Arrested Development." :(
lord help them if they don\'t renew AD... actually, same goes for TC, cause i watch that as well.. i\'m sure they\'ll roll out 73 new reality shows without a problem though..
-
I can\'t wait for Fox\'s next project, "The Ugly Fuckling," where a supermodel is forced to eat Arby\'s for a month, smeared in mustard, and then various NFL offensive lineman are timed to see whether they can eat or fuck her first. Quality programming for the entire family. A little Jiffy Pop. Money talks and good shows walk.

great episode last night! the extreme that they took the TYDTWD was hilarious! this ep definitely needs another 1-2 more viewings to catch everything.. there was a LOT going on..
while most places had this listed as the season finale, there\'s still one more episode, which is slated to air on JUNE 6th according to this:
http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/GuidePageServlet/showid-17005/epid-316738/
Originally scheduled to air April 25th, then rescheduled to May 2nd after the Bush News Confrence, then put back on 4/25, pre-empting "Not Without My Daughter" for another season. Then thrown out on the Thursday before it was scheduled to air, as "Not Without My Daughter" aired instead. Rescheduled to air June 6th.
1+ month before the next episode?! FOX is clueless. it\'s really not looking good for AD. :(

btw, that site has a really good AD ep guide here:

This week\'s episode was another in a long line of gems. Fortunately, there has been somewhat of a media backlash against Fox for not initially renewing the show. Consequently, Arrested Development made the cover of the actual TV Guide this week, in addition to having this article written about it in the on-line TV Guide. My gut feeling: the show made virtually every critics\' Top 10 list for best program of this season. Even Fox can\'t be that stupid. Get ready for Season Two.
Still, this article does raise some interesting, and unfortunately negavite aspects, about the chances for AD\'s survival.
Pitch
By Matt Roush
Last night, I said goodbye to Fox\'s Arrested Development with quite a bit of apprehension. Not just because the network has yet to renew the show — that decision may not be made until late next month, when Fox announces more details of its evolving lineup on May 20 — but because the episode billed as its "season finale" wasn\'t really intended to be.
The first season ended one episode short because a recent schedule crunch following a presidential press conference shifted 24 to Sunday, pushing this struggling comedy off the lineup. (As one of my co-workers suggested to me, why didn\'t Fox just replace one of its umpteen Simpsons repeats with that week\'s Arrested Development? It would have made sense, while also giving the show a chance to see how well it could perform in the more hospitable post-Simpsons time period.)
The episode that aired April 25 was, as usual, very funny, with a running gag involving the annual "bring your daughter to work day" that illuminated many of the hilarious neuroses in the Bluth family. But there was supposed to be one more episode, intended as a cliffhanger of sorts, that is now in limbo, as Fox benches this brilliantly eccentric series in anticipation of the season\'s final sweeps period. I\'ve read the script of this unaired episode, and it\'s a doozy, involving a revelation of more malfeasance — this time international — on the part of patriarch George Bluth. (Fans many recall him telling his son Michael a while back, "There\'s a good chance I may have committed some light treason.")
Confronting his viperish mother, Michael (the excellent Jason Bateman) says, "There\'s been a lot of lying in this family." Her response: "And a lot of love." His comeback: "More lies."
That sort of waspish wit, combined with an anything-goes farcical sensibility, helped make Arrested Development the best new TV comedy too few people were watching all season long. While we wait anxiously to see if Fox will do the right thing and give this offbeat gem a chance to catch on — and, in the tradition of that other unique slow starter Seinfeld, maybe even flourish — we can also count the days until Fox finally airs the unseen episode. The current plan is for the actual season finale to air outside the regular season, on June 6.
While I\'m cautiously optimistic Fox will stand behind the show and renew it, this situation does give you pause. Why would a network give a series one more year when it can\'t find the time to schedule one more episode?
-
Reminder: the missing episode airs this Sunday June 6th. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

huge night tomorrow.. gotta prioritize... AD missing ep, Sopranos season finale, and of course, THE LAKE SHOW! busy night for the tivo tomorrow..

It\'s zero hour Michael. It\'s the end of the line. I\'m the first born; I\'m sick of playing second fiddle. Always third in line for everything. I\'m tired of finishing fourth; being the fifth wheel. There are six things I\'m mad about, and I\'m taking over.

Network television\'s best comedy continues to get the recogintion it deserves, but looked like it might never get a few months ago.
That\'s right, Arrested Development was nominated for an Emmy for Best Comedy Series, along with cable\'s best comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm, and three of televisions most diarrhea-inducing programs: Sex and the City, Will and Grace and Everybody Loves Raymond. Of course, one of these three shitstorms will probably win, but who cares? Arrested Development is still rated low enough that any buzz will help it secure a consistent spot in the Top 40-50 range next season when Fox is expected to move it to 8:30 behind the Simpsons and out of the 9:30 graveyard.
My choice as to who had the better season between AD and Curb? Despite the fact that I\'ve been an avid Larry David/Seinfeld fan for over a decade, I feel Arrested Development had the stronger season for a few reasons: 1. just as funny a show without the benefit of profanity, although AD takes full advantage of the bleeps, 2. 22 half-hour episodes for AD in comparison to 9, plus an hour finale, for Curb, so AD simply had more material, and, most important, 3. AD\'s finale was hilarious wheras Curb\'s was laboring to watch, and to me, the finale has the value of at least 5 episodes. The only thing to monitor is that AD will be under a lot more pressure to deliver for the second season with these scattershots of hype such as being on the cover of TV Guide, etc. It\'s still a long ways away from being on Curb\'s level all-time as that is coming off it\'s fourth season. But to even be mentinoned in the same category by the Emmy\'s is a huge honor and a boost to AD\'s credebility.
For the record, AD was created by Mitchell Hurwitz and the executive producer is Ron Howard.

•Arrested Development star Jason Bateman joked backstage about how his Arrested family would handle three Emmys: "The Bluths would probably all get drunk at the Governors Ball and get in a fiery car crash on the way home." Earlier, Tony Hale, who plays Buster on the show, said guest stars Liza Minnelli and Henry Winkler will be back.

found this interesting:
TiVo Subscriber Newsletter | Volume 56
Letter from the Editor
The Fox comedy series "Arrested Development" garnered three big wins Sunday night at the "The 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards," including writing and directing wins, which could be all the PAUSE and consideration I need to add it to my personal list of Season Pass recordings and give it a PLAY.
While "Arrested Development" leaves its current Nielsen mark as No. 108 among all primetime series, I did my research and it turns out that TiVo subscribers have better than average TV tastes: It\'s 51 in our latest list of Season Pass recordings. (To throw in some TV trivia, "All in the Family," "Hill Street Blues" and "Cheers" were all Nielsen underachievers that transformed into legends after an Emmy or two.)
With our beloved Friends departed, it seems the least we can do to vote with our remote for something that\'s not more reality TV. Even Emmy host Garry Shandling shared a similar sentiment during the live broadcast: "It\'s to the point now when a commercial comes on," he quipped, "I go, \'Thank God, professional actors in a story.\'"
From Amish to Apprentice,

Why You Have No Excuse to Miss Season 2 of Arrested Development
It\'s been a rough year for Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) on Best Comedy Emmy Winner "Arrested Development". He\'s seen his son George Michael (the surprisingly innocent but funny Michael Cera) draw distant at times, his father George Sr. (Emmy Nominee Jeffrey Tambor) go to jail, convert to Judaism in prison, and lie about accounts, his mother Lucille (The Emmy Snub Jessica Walter) just flat out lie to him, seen his older brother Gob (Scene Stealing Will Arnett) with the woman he wanted, his little brother Buster (Tony Hale) date a woman with the same name as his mother (the shockingly hilarious Liza Minelli, who WILL return this year) and his sister Lindsay and husband Tobias make purchases they can\'t make.
Oh, and George Sr. escaped from the hospital after faking a heart attack. It\'d been quite a year for Michael, but he\'s happy, and why? To quote narrator Ron Howard from way back in the Pilot "Because he\'s decided to never speak to these people EVER AGAIN"
He\'s not getting out easy. Again. It\'s Arrested Development. It\'s TV\'s best comedy and here are a few of the reasons YOU have not to miss this jovial half hour of dark comedy
1. It\'s now airing after "The Simpsons"
Yes, Fox made the bold move of moving the comedy to it\'s most coveted comedy slot. Gone are competition like "Law & Order:CI", new hit "Desperate Housewives", "Alias", the CBS Movie, and the cable hits like "The Sopranos" and the stylistically similar "Curb Your Enthusiasm. Also gone is the fading, incompatible lead-in of "Malcolm in the Middle". Now, it goes against shows with different audiences (Extreme Makeover:Home Edition and Cold Case). As long as they take in 90% of the still healthy "Simpson" lead-in, it will survive.
2. It\'s from Ron Howard
Are you really going to tell me your not going to watch a show narrated by Executive Producer Ron Howard\'s soothing voice. You\'re saying you don\'t trust Opie?
3. Guest Stars
This show gets the most unusual, surprisingly shining guest stars. It\'s one of those shows, like NBC\'s "Scrubs", where ANYONE can shine. Here\'s a list of Season 1\'s many guests:
Henry Winkler (for 6 episodes at that)
Julia Louis-Dreyfus (2 eps.)
Liza Minelli (7 eps.)
Heather Graham
Bob Odenkirk
Carl Weathers
Amy Poehler (Will Arnett\'s husband, who did 4 eps.)
James Lipton (3 eps.)
Here\'s some guests for season 2:
Liza Minelli (Returning)
Carl Weathers (Returning)
Michael Moore
The OC cast (CROSSOVER)
Justine Bateman
4. Becauses it\'s just simply the funniest, quirkiest, most original half-hour of American television in years. \'Nuff said.
(Arrested Development premieres it\'s 2nd Season Sunday, November 7, at 8:30PM on Fox.)
please, people. watch this show.
great to have the show back! good episode last night, though i usually like them better the second time around..
"I just blue myself."
"There\'s gotta be a better way to say that."
Tobias\' accidental airhorn was great!
the Michael Moore was dead on. :D

and the \'on the next...\' segment, with winkler in jail.. \'i am having the time of my life! hey, dr. hate!\'
while i think the new timeslot is definitely a good decision, i think football games running over will hurt the ratings over the next month and a half, pushing AD up against Desperate Housewives on the east coast. hopefully FOX realizes this, and waits it out, rather than making any rash decisions. i was pretty pissed that i wasn\'t able to catch AD in hidef last night, since i had DH recording. hopefully this won\'t happen every week.

Meh-diocre at best..... Right up there with Ali G for mediocrity in comedy...booyakasha ;)

Though the fact that those two shows are gaining popularity with every show is causing me to lose faith in the television viewing public...

Awesome episode last nite. The humor is so subtle @ times in the conversations. If one is just "kinda watching" much will be missed. This is the type of show that makes you really happy to have a College education. A show that is truly worthy of being Water-Cooler talk the nxt day.

Since this thread is always active and I have never seen the show, I am going to take a guess at what the show is about. I currently don\'t watch any tv shows now that 90210 is off the air. Is Arrested Development the show with Redman and Method Man? If so, I saw the previews for it when the season was set to begin.

Arrested Development\'s the one about 3 years, 5 months and 2 days in the life of...this guy Mr. Wendel. An everyday person type of person.

yep.. a man.. a human, in flesh... but not by law..

Is that the old show from a decade ago?

no, in all seriousness al, last season was its first season. 2nd season just started. tune in. it\'s great.

I must be totally tuned out of American pop culture, though that isn\'t always a bad thing. Maybe I will check this show out.

In fact, this phone just slipped because of the grease they put on to get that (expletive) off. It\'s the worst thing I\'ve ever done, I can\'t wait for it to be over. An hour in makeup, then two hours getting out. . . . It sucks. Only someone who is truly desperate to be on TV would do Star Trek or whatever those UPN shows are".
# Mae Whitman ("Ann") co-starred with Alia Shawkat in the ABC family drama State of Grace.
# Henry Winkler also guest starred on the King of the Hill episode "A Rover Runs Through It" on the same night and network.
# The mace/escalator joke seen in promos was not in the episode.
# Not only did Henry Winkler guest star on both this and King of the Hill the same night, he produced the "Dallas Reunion" that also aired the same night.
# The scene where Barry Zuckerhorn tells Michael he is having the time of his life in prison mirrors a scene from the "Pilot," where George Sr. tells Michael the same thing.
# Lucille once again does her wink, like she did in the Pilot.
# The "He said some wonderful things" gag was callback to "Visiting Ours."
# This episode was delayed in some areas due to football.
# Gob doesn\'t move for 7 minutes after seeing the briefcase. In the Michael Moore documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11, President Bush read to the kids for 7 minutes after the planes hit the World Trade Center.
# Michael says his name is Dr. Blueman while calling Lucille.
# George Sr.\'s love for hiding stuff in walls goes all the way back to "Top Banana."
# Rating: 5.9/9
# Oscar seems to imply that he is really Buster\'s biological father.
# FOX 6 credits a model home in Iraq to "Chemical and Mrs. Ali."
# While depressed on the pier, Tobias walks by ,what appears to be, two homosexual men.

AD in top form this week. had to watch it a 2nd time, being too drunk to recall any plot from sunday night\'s airing.

Episode 26: Good Grief! (05-Dec-2004/ARR-204)
there hasn\'t been an episode below an \'8\' yet for me this season.. last night was no exception..
the constant nods to the Charlie Brown Xmas Special were terrific! everyone moping around to \'Christmas Time Is Here\', the dog sleeping on the red house:
..and even Tobias\' "What the fuck happened to my hard boiled eggs?" (Charlie Brown wanted to know where his eggs where when Snoopy ate them)...
great tribute.
loved the return of Lindsay\'s SLUT shirt, and the Aztec Tomb from last season..
the Michael/Ann stuff kills me...
calling her \'Egg\' again... (never gets old)
"I think that George Michael might be hiding Ann in the attic."
"From who? The Nazis?" rotfl
:point:"It\'s as Ann as the nose on Plain\'s face."
"Oh, I see you got my message."
"We talked." :spin:
"I have Pop Pop in the attic."
"The fact that you call it Pop Pop shows that you\'re not ready for it."
best episode of the season so far. hands-down the best show on television.
-
Last nite\'s episode was hilarious. Buster\'s army uniform was STU.
Buster: "You mean you can wear stripper clothes when you\'re not stripping"
Gob(as he pulls his breakaway pants off):" You tell me"
Pop Pop\'s "spider hole" was classic too.
-
"Put it away, Oscar. You look like the window of a butcher shop!"

-
ahhhhhh Gene!
Good eye. How many viewings until you caught it. This show is so multi-layered. It is just STU.
-
i caught it the 2nd time around..
you almost have to watch each episode twice to catch everything.. not a bad thing, either.. makes the replay value tremendous.
-
"It\'s as Ann as the nose on Plain\'s face."
"Oh, I see you got my message."
"We talked."
Two classic lines from a great episode. Ann/Egg/Plain/Plant is this year\'s On-Yon in the sense that any scene involving her is automatically hilarious.
-
oh man, this show... more on the \'multi-layering\':
the box in the attic labeled: Tracy\'s sweaters.. if you know who tracy is, you\'re hardcore.
the newspaper headline regarding Lucille\'s "Homeless man" mouth to mouth:
above the picture:
Eso Americano Loco (That Crazy American)
below the picture:
Esto es por la cual nosotros cruzamos corriendo las autopistas.
(This is what we\'re running across freeways for)
rotfl
-
well, tracy was mentioned for only the second time in this episode, so that\'s a little more obvious now...
This episode contains some coarse language.
Michael: I can\'t talk.
Lindsay: What\'s wrong with your voice?
i\'m on *********.
it\'s a shemale\'!
those are balls. rotfl
they always look like a landscape when you get this close.
i think i\'ve seen those before...
uhh... there\'s a ladder.
are you wearing my dead wife\'s maternity clothes?
- george michael getting blue paint on his hand when he opens the fridge.
- gob\'s \'final countdown\' ringtone.
- tobais going back to the cut-offs (there were cut-offs in here??).
- \'not pictured\' under anne\'s yearbook picture! :D and \'egg\'!!!
- the return of barry\'s gay assistant.
- the return of steve holt.

Micheal: "Really?"

- the blue ring around the tub..
gob: now get over that wall you homo!
barry: can i have a moment with my client? .... did you get any of that?

Micheal" Not gonna happen"

i\'m not being lied to, michael. i\'m being lied................ ON.
ah.. now more\'s gonna come up than go down..
-
Show just sticks in one\'s head for sure.LOL
-
nah.. just that i\'d got done watching it for like the 4th time this morning. ;)
michael says something to oscar about lucielle along the lines of \'she hasn\'t been this happy since she foung out ??? could breast feed Buster!\'
it\'s funny, but i can\'t figure out what he\'s saying.. almost sounds like Rosa, but that makes no sense..
-
dude we suck. I have it queued up to watch today @ lunch. lol 10 min.yes
-
the question is, which way do i try to get it in her??
maybe i\'ll put it in her brownie..
:lol:rotfl:lol:
I GOT BLOWN!!! SO.... I CAN\'T SLEEP!!!
what a show...
-
Gob\'s sexual harassment speech was hilarious. God I love this show
PS - Dave, Michael definitely said "Rosa" when he was talking about the breastfeeding. She was their old maid, the one Lucille tried calling when she couldn\'t find Lupe last season ("Hello, is Rosa still alive? No? This is not my day")
-
I liked the "afternoon delite duets".
Micheal calling Ann "Yam"
Def. the best sitcom on TV

another watch yesterday revealed another great piece of work...
when Gob is wheeling the alcohol into the office, first they show the *end* of the scene with him talking to one of the employees:
-king six thousand dollar suit!!
then they go into explaining how Gob robbed the booze from Lucielle\'s, and they show the first part of the scene:
No, Bob(?), I want to spill booze all over my f....
i loved Gob\'s little outburst too:
Gob: So what, should I shouldshould should should should should should should shou shou sh sh sh...
Michael: Shhh... Shhh.... Shhh.....
COME ON!!!!
F*beep*k you Tom! rotfl

any 24 fans here?
this is taking it back to last week, but...
http://www.the-op.com/view/article.php?a=108&pg=5
The following scene, excised from Sad Sack, would have made 24 fans happy. When the photo of the alleged WMDs made the rounds of government, there was to have been a quick shot of Tony Almeda and Jack Bauer with the narration, “They even made it to some units that didn’t need to be in the know.” I’d guess this was cut because it seems a bit forced, because otherwise a 24 cross-promotion seems like a no-brainer to FOX, which broadcasts both 24 and Arrested, and Imagine, which produces both.

There were so many great things from this episode. Gob was all around MVP (Most Viable Putz) for his suit rants and his stuttering fit, which was hilarious. I love Egg/Plant/Ann/Plain/Yam\'s holiday signing party, mom\'s answering machine montage when Tobias is painting himself, and when Michael and George Michael start inadvertantly singing Afternoon Delight at the end, then realize it, and say "it really doesn\'t sound that dirty," then the show ends. Plus, the cartoon for Afternoon Deelite pot was great with the snail riding on top of the turtle.
I also think it\'s great that this thread has finally eclipsed the 100-post, 1000-view mark after a long time. Way back when this thread started and AD looked on the verge of getting axed, I figured this thread would go the way of the dodo bird. But now, even though ratings are still lukewarm in the 60\'s, the show is clearly on a roll and the thread has followed. Top-notch. Can\'t wait for the second watch.

Meet you @ The Big Yellow Joint is the song playing when Lucille runs over Tobias and crashes into the Banana Stand.
Also off-screen voice: "Hey its Tobias"
Tobias: "Who wants to take me to the hospital?"

heh.. yeah.. i wonder who said it.. it almost sounded like tobias said it..
i liked how when george michael was leaving the party with lindsay he forgot ann there..
how about this one? she\'s got thick arms..
-
It would make sense for him to have said it and it does sound like him.
Also the phone msg montage was classic and totally in line w/ the character relationships. The writers on this show go the xtra mile for those paying attention.
-
Some more of my favorites from last week:
Tobias falls asleep mid-sentence
Lucille\'s face on Michael\'s phone
Tom\'s early toast about George being "into the Kitty" and his late toast when he attempts to say some nice things about Gob, which proves impossible. "Please don\'t laugh"
Buster grabs a Bart Simpson doll with the crane
Gob gets out of the cab: "...the guy with the $6000 banana suit. Come on!"
Tobias in slow motion looking into the mirror blue (with that America\'s Most Wanted/Unsolved Mysteries-esque drum beat in the background)
Oscar goes on a 420-mile walk
Michael tells Maeby to pick the first song in the book and Afternoon Delight is atop the alphabetical standings. Obviously, the song and the show have the initials AD.
Gob: "If I don\'t fire them, how will I teach the others a lesson?"
Michael: "There are no others. You fired them all."
Michael constant wave of "No" after Lucille\'s request to move in

and bateman wins the golden globe for best comedy series actor (at 8:45, during his own show no less)
-
Great episode tonight, and I\'m so psyched that Bateman won the Golden Globe! I\'m just hoping it wins for best comedy too, and not Desperate Housewives.
-
won\'t be watching tonight\'s episode til tomorrow, but i had to comment on this...
Musical or Comedy Series: "Desperate Housewives," ABC.
i saw this coming months ago, when i heard DH was entering the GGs under \'comedy\', and it\'s unfortunate. as someone who is a big fan of DH and has been watching it since week 1, i will say wholeheartedly that it is NOT a comedy. are there funny moments? sure. but it is most certainly more of a drama than a comedy. and on top of that, to say it\'s a better comedy than AD is just completely absurd. clearly a flaw in the system.
that said, i\'m very happy for JB on his award, and equally happy for Teri Hatcher.. both well-deserved.
-
OK I will wait \'til tomorrow to discuss this most hilarious epi.
-
Of course, I don\'t agree with every winner (such as Nip/Tuck over the Sopranos), but to the Golden Globe\'s credit, it\'s just an award show. No lame jokes, musical numbers, or syrupy splendor. Nice to see Ian McShane win for Deadwood.
And, of course, Robin Williams.
-
Christine Taylor AND Jeff Garlin!! felt like i was watching Curb for a minute..

# The sign over the studio is promoting Homeless Dad, the "rigidly formulaic popcorn movie" Tom Jane was preparing for in "The One Where They Build A House."
# Gob calmly says "I need ice" like the "We need ice" in the "Pilot."
# This is Tobias\' second job as a security officer. His first was in "Not Without My Daughter."
# Gob\'s chipped tooth and whistling is a reference to "Charity Drive," when he chipped his tooth (and whistled) after biting into a candied apple.
# The baseball game is being played at Milford Park. The Bluth children attended the Milford Academy ("Public Relations", "Afternoon Delight").
# Gob yet again acts out his insulting chicken dance move, a reference to several past episodes, including one where he was arrested for the act.
# Early in the episode, Gob shows that he decides to keep his "Come on!" outburst bit from his $12,000 suit days.

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Even though its reviews were almost universally middling-to-negative, the preview of "American Dad" drew more than 15 million viewers to FOX on Sunday (Feb. 6) night. That successful performance has prompted FOX to juggle its future Sunday line-up, which may mean bad things for Emmy-winning comedy "Arrested Development."
"American Dad," the new animated comedy from "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, will still have its real premiere on Sunday, May 1. FOX has, however, moved the show up an hour from 9:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET. "American Dad" will now officially launch between the 350th episode of "The Simpsons" and the fourth season premiere of "Family Guy."
The series, which will air encores as part of Cartoon Network\'s Adult Swim block, focuses on mid-level CIA agent Stan Smith, his wife, his two kids, his alien and his fish with the brain of a German guy.
FOX also announced that the schedule will allow the first three episodes of "American Dad" to air after new episodes of "The Simpsons."
As a result of the shift, "Arrested Development" will now have to end its second season by late April. According to The Hollywood Reporter, FOX is expected to reduce its order for "Arrested Development," though specifics haven\'t been announced. Despite endless critical acclaim and awards attention, "Development" is averaging only 6.06 million viewers per week this season in the Sunday 8:30 p.m. time slot.
Ron Howard, Mitchell Hurwitz, Brian Grazer, and Jason Bateman were on Charlie Rose Tuesday night talking about how Fox was letting shows "get their legs" before making any moves with them.
David Cross was on Kimmel last night? He said he found out from the Internet that production had been halted. Fox didn\'t even bother to call him. He didn\'t sound optimistic about the situtation. He said he can\'t wait to see what Fox puts on in its place (apparently he doesn\'t know about American Dad) and joked that it would probably be a cartoon reality show.
-
I wish I could say that I\'m surprised. Unfortunately, the show is too good for its own good. But don\'t cancel episodes. Air it at 9:30 and let the 6.06 million watch. What does Fox have to offer that\'s better? A spinoff of Herman\'s Head?

Dear Arrested Development Fans:
Thank you for your e-mail and your passionate support of Arrested Development. While the show has finished production for its second season, contrary to the rumors you may have heard or read on the internet, it is NOT cancelled.
We at FOX love Arrested Development and we look forward to having the Bluth family back on FOX in the future - hopefully for many years. You can help make the show a bigger success by getting as many people as possible to start watching the show this Sunday and every Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Arrested Development
DEVELOPMENT ISSUES: Rumors are swirling that Fox has cut short
Arrested Development\'s season, trimming its episode order from 20 to
18. Not so, says a source close to the show. "Nothing\'s definite,"
maintains the insider. "There\'s two more weeks before [the network]
has to make a final decision [on how many episodes it wants]. In
either case, it\'s not canceled." It better not be.

great, downright looney episode! SO many lines...
Lucille: that bitch!
Michael: You’re not at home, Mom. She doesn’t live next door when you’re here.
Lucille 2: I’m going to my spin class.
G.O.B.: I thought you had vertigo.
Michael: You’ve got to stop quoting when you drink.
Michael: Sorry. Your grandmother had a little accident here.
George Michael: Oh. Does that mean she’s going to have to come live with us?
Michael: No, no. No. It was her drink, and even if it wasn’t...
Stan Sitwell: I look like Edgar Winter here. Forget it. I’ve gotta get to spin class.
Michael: So, what do you say? We got a basket full of father-son fun here.
George Michael: What’s Kama Sutra oil?
Michael: Maybe it’s not for us.
Tobias: Oh, that is quite a basket you’ve got there, Michael. That Sally Sitwell is one lucky lady.
Tobias: I’m afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will, so now I’m afraid I have something of a mess on my hands. rotfl
Michael: There are just so many poorly chosen words in that sentence.
Tobias: Oh... body chocolate.
It’s a wonderful package. I’ll take it.
Tobias: Well, Michael, you really are quite the Cupid, aren’t you? I tell you, you can zing your arrow into my buttocks any time.
Michael: Okay, you know what you do? You buy yourself a tape recorder, you just record yourself for a whole day. I think you’re going to be surprised at some of your phrasing.
Tobias: Butterscotch! Want a lick?
Lindsay: Chaw-chee, chaw-chee, chaw-chee, chaw.
Michael: What is that? Is that a chicken?
G.O.B.: What’s this?
Lindsay: Oh, Michael’s scared to ask out Sally.
Michael: No, I’m not.
Lindsay: Chaw, chee-chaw, chee-chaw.
G.O.B.: Oh, this is priceless.
Michael: You look ridiculous...
G.O.B.: Coka-coh! Coka-coh! Coka-coka-coka-coh...
Michael: Come on. These aren’t even birds.
^^ the deuling chickens were priceless!! rotfl
Lucille: Buster. Nice of you to take a break from that common whore you’ve been dating.
Buster: She is not a whore, Mother. She happens to be the new secretary of the Bluth Company. And, yes, she’s more experienced than a normal girl, but sometimes love should be terrifying.
Lucille: Well, I shouldn’t complain. It’s better than you dating Lucille 2, that bitch!
Buster: Lucille 2’s not a “B,” Mother. She’s kind, and she’s caring and she’s certainly less experienced than that whore that I’m dating now. :D
Uncle Jack: He’s half deaf. It was a stupid, stupid hire. Not higher! Eye level! Eye level!
Uncle Jack: Look at that— I pinned him! I pinned the Army man! God bless you for being in the Army. Up, Dragon! Left. Left with vigor.
Lindsay: Boy, that Dragon’s cute, huh?
Michael: What, the deaf giant who’s holding our fake uncle?
Michael:Lindsay, I give you one thing to do for the business, and you can’t even do it. I mean, if you’d tried and failed, I’d understand, but you didn’t even try.
Lindsay: So I didn’t even fail, and I don’t see you giving me credit for that.
Uncle Jack: Unfortunately, that moose was holding me, so I couldn’t make my move. Of course, I couldn’t make that move without that moose, but that’s my challenge.
Maeby: Oh, hey, Michael. My dad wanted me to thank you for the romantic getaway. Don’t tell me what that means.
Michael: Where is your dad?
Maeby: He left dressed all westerny. You can leave me out of that part, too.
Michael: I screwed my brother-in-law.
Maeby: Well, I’m all grown up now.
Tobias: Well, you certainly didn’t help my reputation as a ladies man with Jeff. But we’ll clear all that up in the spa when I get my facial. :sigh:
Michael: Hey, did you ever get that tape recorder?
Tobias: You know, Michael, perhaps I should buy you that tape recorder. Do you have any idea how often you say the word “afraid”?
Michael: Well, I-I know I used it in the Jacuzzi.
Tobias: And I apologize for that. I thought it was a pool toy.
Buster: How’d you like to take a nap, baldy?
Narrator: ... Tobias listens to a day’s worth of his own words, to see what Michael was referring to, ...
Tobias: (On tape.) ...even it means me taking a chubby, I will suck it up.
Tobias: Nothing wrong with that.
Tobias: (On tape.) Oh, I’ve been in the film business for a while, but I just can’t seem to get one in the can.
Tobias: It’s out of context.
Tobias: (On tape.) I wouldn’t mind kissing that man between the cheeks.
Narrator: (... and he realized there is something distinct about the way he speaks.)
Tobias: Tobias... you blowhard!

Production on \'Arrested Development\' halted
Associated Press
February 17, 2005
LOS ANGELES - Production on "Arrested Development" has been arrested.
Fox is halting production after 18 episodes - four shy of the usual 22.
advertisement
And that brings the season - and maybe the series - to a premature end on April 17.
"Arrested Development" has been honored all over the place with an Emmy as best comedy and a Golden Globe for Jason Bateman. But apparently, that\'s not enough to get people to watch.
During this second season, "Arrested Development" is averaging 6 million viewers a week. That\'s down from last season\'s average audience of 6.2 million.
And although it\'s apples and oranges since "American Dad" aired Super Bowl night, compare that with the "American Dad" preview that drew 15 million viewers.
-
The problem is that everyone who watch\'s the show watches it in a group. I know all my friends and I get together Sundays to watch it. Do we really have to leave our TV\'s on all Sunday night just to keep the funniest show on TV alive? It\'s all Ty Pennington\'s fault. Extreme Makeover Home Edition. If we could only deal with that show all else would fall into place......
-
Yeah someone else on this board watches other than the 3 hardcores !!
-
This double dose tonight was as usual hilarious. I wonder though is this the 1st time they used the "next time" scenes in the next episode? Was this actually one episode split in 2 or are they altering things slightly in an attempt to gain viewers?
Poor Buster "I\'m a Monster!"
-
loved the \'i\'m a monster\' freakout.. "you did this to me?!?"
Geroge Michael & Maeby eating at Skip Church\'s Bistro on Sunday, and Barry Zuckerkorn having Chinese with Saul Zentsman at Miss Temple\'s every Friday night. rotfl
GOB: \'that\'s the last time you\'ll be hand fed!!\'
-
GOB: \'that\'s the last time you\'ll be hand fed!!\'
HA!!!
Both episodes were awesome as usual!!!
-
Your search for "Sacramende" did not match any documents. Did you mean "Sacramento?"
"Look... over there! One of the Desperate Housewives!! So... desperate..."
"Have you seen the new Mustang? You could hump the hood!"
But did someone forget that Officers Taylor and Carter each have at least one child already? They brought their daughters to work with them last season.
-
Crindy?
-
There were so many tidbits that if you watch you caught. Like Michael in the car and saying in the phone "Thanx Mr. Parmesean" George Michael saying "Her?" to his father in response to Michael dating Maggie again. I gotta watch again .
other bits:
Narrator"This was a big GET for God"
unseen(later revealed to be George Sr.) "Up yours Granny"
Lucille"You couldn\'t handle it!"
The Welcome Home Buster sign torn to reveal You\'re killing me Buster
Triple shot on George Michael: 2 cops kissing>childbirth>morgue
Damn this show is EPIC!!!!!
-
went through my 2nd viewings of both last night..
the uncomfortable laughs at buster\'s hand jokes were awesome..
\'Then go to her. Ask for her hand.\'
\'Yeah, and maybe I’ll get one for my brother while I’m at it. (http://img55.exs.cx/img55/593/000057sm5rm.jpg)
\'Get him out of here. Get him out of here...
GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY ROOM!!!!!\'
i the first episode, when George Sr. & Michael are in the attic talking about Buster going to Iraq, George Sr. says something like \'i\'ll never get to touch that hand again\' as \'jaws\' plays in the background.. :D
\'You\'re HIGH!!\'
\'You\'re DRUNK!!\'
\'We’re just having a little fun, you know.\'
\'I think that church and studying are fun. I thought you felt the same.\'
\'Well, I do. I like not having fun. I like your idea of fun... I mean, our idea of fun. I like not having that.\'
\'I got Michael out of his marriage, didn’t I?\'
\'Actually she died.\'
\'You’re kidding me. I’ve been taking credit for that for years.\'
\'Credit?\'
\'Hey, let’s save it for the stand, okay, Tom Jane.\' rotfl
\'All I could see was her giant chest. Box. She had this... Some people call it a chest; I call it a box.\'
\'Seems like only yesterday you were bursting forth from your mother’s fertile womb.\'
\'Hi, Maggie. Are you blind again?\'
\'For the pizza guy. I give him a five, I tell him to keep the change.\' :D
\'Sally Sitwell? You know, I think I had her little play oven.\'
\'It’s a funny name, but she’s a doll.\'
\'Yeah. I had one. You pull her hair, she’d cry or something.\'
\'This one kinda does that, too.\'
\'It’s been fun... not.\'
\'The Bronco’s been discontinued. We’re trying to shed that whole fugitive on the run thing. This is the Escape.\' rotfl
\'You need more juice. Where’s the juice?! Give my son the juice!\'
\'I mean, a seal didn’t bite your Linus off, did it?\'
\'I did this. I think that the seal with the yellow bow tie might be the one that I released into the sea after giving it the taste for mammal blood.\'
\'Okay, you’ve got a better case than Mom does.\'
\'Okay, now I’m just lying for no reason.\'
\'Is this our little bundle of... two gay cops’ baby.\'
when buster is sitting on this bench, all that shows is \'ARM OFF\'

Upon rewatch, two great ones that come off like they were written as a one-hour episode even though they were originally scheduled to air separately.
A few of my favorites:
Tobias: Did you call my name?
Lindsay (exhausted after rubbing out three straight): Absolutely not.
From George Sr. to Buster: There\'s a certain quiet courage in hiding. Go. Quiet Courage.
Tobias and Lindsay: We don\'t have a child.
Lindsay: Oh did you mean Maeby?
Michael: I did mean Maeby.
Maggie (after much discussion about the baby): I was worried that you wouldn\'t stick around.
Michael: I\'m not going anywhere baby. What is wrong with me?
-
Wow, tonight\'s episode isn\'t even over and it\'s already in the running for my favorite episode yet

Been watching AD for a while now, off and on. It might be the best comedy sitcom out there. So well written and the perfect sense of humor. Such subtle jokes. Can\'t believe some of the stuff they actually cover. Ahh, the ever so memorable Motherboy, good times!
-
ha tonights episode was hilarious, i catch that show every now and then and its better each time...

Either of you know where I can get one of those necklaces with the t?

One of the most bizarre episodes of any show I\'ve ever seen. And, as always, chortles aplenty.
Are you sure you want him going on that church thing?
Her name\'s Ann and he\'s not going on her. They\'re just friends.
-
^^ Great news. Nice to read where Annyong has been and that we may see more AD next season.
Oh and yeah he even has his hands out like on a Bike. Ever since I saw the mirror/brush thing in season 1 I watch him for Fonzie moves. He has done thumbs up but I don\'t remember a ehhh w/ it.
-
^^ Great news. Nice to read where Annyong has been and that we may see more AD next season.
at the beginning of the \'on the next...\' in this episode, when lindsey is going into the trailer to see atellbias, there is someone casting for the \'annyong\' part outside the trailer..

"Steve Holt is a bastard!"
VOLT FOR HOLT!
"Your uncle doesn\'t not work here anymore."
"Fine, I\'ll Dust Buster myself!"
"I don\'t see why you\'re surprised, mother. I\'m HALF MACHINE!"
so it turns out that Maeby has had a crush on her cousin the whole time. brilliant.
-
Dave, I missed that...when did we find that out (about Maeby?)
-
at the end (in the \'on the next\' segment), it was revealed that Steve Holt is actually GOB\'s son, which is what makes GOB\'s Steve Holt is a bastard comment so funny/ironic, and means that Maeby, like George Michael, has a crush on her cousin. :D
-
Michael describing Steve Holt as a younger Gob was also nice.
Mrs. Fingerbottom as Maeby called him was hilarious. His songs all ended the same way.lol
I loved how Maeby reverted to her "Marry Me" to avoid trouble and then realized she was talkin\' to Michael.
-
"Cold Case" kept CBS on top in the night\'s second hour, delivering an 11.4/18. ABC was well off the pace in second with a repeat of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." NBC took third with the 4.6/7 for "The Contender," which provided far better demographic numbers than its overall total would suggest. FOX was fourth with "The Simpsons" (5.1/8) and "Arrested Development" (3.5/5). The WB\'s second hour of "Charmed" was last.
:sigh:
forget all the articles you\'ve read saying how much FOX loves AD and it will never be cancelled.. bottom line, enjoy it while it lasts. :(

Reports: Berman exits Fox for Paramount
By David B. Wilkerson, MarketWatch
Last Update: 4:45 PM ET March 22, 2005
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Gail Berman has resigned her post as president of entertainment at the Fox broadcast network to take a job at Viacom\'s Paramount Pictures, according to published reports Tuesday.
Berman, who took the Fox job in 2000, will become one of the first executives hired by new Paramount Chairman Brad Grey, Dow Jones Newswires and Broadcasting & Cable reported, citing unnamed sources.
A Fox spokesman declined comment. A Viacom spokesman was not immediately available.
Under Berman\'s guidance, Fox developed the hit drama "24," as well as the critically-acclaimed sitcom "Arrested Development."
Most recently, the network boasted of its first-ever February sweeps win in total households, while also garnering the most viewers among adults 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54. Its telecast of Super Bowl XXXIX and the strength of the reality program "American Idol" fueled Fox\'s victory.

Breaking! Gail Berman Quits Fox For Paramount
THR and Variety are reporting that Fox entertainment head Gail Berman has dumped Rupert Murdoch’s slice of television heaven for a movie job (“the top creative post”) underneath Brad Grey at the New Paramount™.
Whoa, didn’t see this one coming. Berman’s ditching Fox in the middle of pilot season, and God only knows what’s going to happen to Arrested Development now. Well, God and anyone whose first thought is that it’s probably toast.
And what happens to Paramount bigshot Donald DeLine? Is he toast as well? And will he be toasting himself or get toasted by Grey? Too many toast questions make our head hurt, so see the trade paper coverage for the fun, factual portion of the story, including info on Berman’s possible successors and the liberal use of the terms “ankle” and “prexy.”
so the biggest supporter of AD at FOX is now moving on...
like i said, enjoy AD while it lasts. :(

Nice link Dave.
This show is so dynamic it will be quite upsetting to hear that it will someday go off the air but hopefully not in it\'s prime. It is the glue which makes the Fox Sunday night lineup worth watching. I use to call it quits after the Simpsons but now its Simpsons>Arrested Development>Simpsons, such beauty!

from ain\'t it cool news:
The Last ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT??
“Arrested Development” gets no respect.
* By giving “Desperate Housewives” its Golden Globe for best TV comedy this year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association effectively declared the bland, insipid “Housewives” funnier than “Arrested.”
* Fox cut back its second-season “Arrested Development” order to make room for great new shows like “American Dad,” so the Bluths\' second season ends tonight, well before both May sweeps and the end of the season proper.
* When E! Online ran its “save our show” poll last month, UPN’s “Veronica Mars” got 56 percent of the vote. “Arrested Development” got 9 percent. “Veronica” subsequently got an early renewal, even though “Arrested,” with “The Simpsons” as its lead-in, enjoys a bigger audience.
The networks don’t announce their fall slates for another month, but USA Today on Wednesday indicated that “Arrested” is in the meantime “on the bubble,” neither renewed nor axed.
My advice to “Arrested Development” fans? Click here to vote in USA Today’s “Save Our Show” poll. If memory serves, “Angel” won this poll two years ago and got a fifth season. “Enterprise” won last year and got a fourth season.
“Veronica Mars” isn’t a candidate this year because it’s already been saved, so maybe “Arrested” now stands a chance! What are you waiting for? Tick tock. TICK TOCK!!!
here\'s the link

He even helped me make the signs. Well, only mine and the one that says it\'s a tricky grey area.
Oscar loses his fingerprints to the Cornballer. Great way to finish.
You know it\'s true. Everything Fox does. They do it for type of people who like Nanny 911.
An unquestionably classic series.

i said COT!
-
i happened to catch the last two episodes of the season and i thought this show was really funny! I know a few mentally disturbed rich people and this show reminded me so much of them i had to laff....a lot....good show...was that the first season?
-
klout -
that was the 2nd season that just finished. i *highly* recommend picking up the first season on DVD (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002PYS7Y/pbfanscom-20). not only is it hilarious, but there are ongoing jokes that start with the beginning of the series, that you normally wouldn\'t get if you hadn\'t seen the previous episodes..

http://www.eonline.com/Gossip/Kristin/Archive2005/050513.html
Hallelujah! Arrested Development fans, brace yourselves. I have some good news and--well, you might want to sit down for this--some mind-blowing, earth-shattering, out-of-this-world, fantastic news.
Earlier this week, a friend here at E! interviewed Jason Bateman at a charity event with his good friend Ben Stiller. When asked the status of Arrested Development, he lit up like a banana stand: "Actually, great. Supergreat. There is a heartbeat. There is no flatline. And there may be twins. I\'m going to let Kristin figure out what that means. I can\'t comment any further, but there will be an announcement next week."
-
That\'s the best news I\'ve heard all week!!!
PInch me am I dreaming? Is it true? Fox backs out on so many good shows in favor of these crappy reality shows like Chris mentioned Nanny 911. It\'s good to see an awesome show get cut a little slack!
-
Though they\'re still dotting I\'s and crossing T\'s on the final documents, I\'m told Fox network and 20th Century Fox studio are "99.9 percent of the way there" to reaching an agreement on the new season. According to these highly placed sources, it looks very likely that Arrested Development will be coming back not only for a full season of 22 episodes but actually two full seasons of 22 episodes. How freaking fantastic is that?
Huzzzzah!

Running around screaming happily!!!!!!!!!!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
FOX DOES MORE TIME WITH “ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT”
ORDERING A FULL THIRD SEASON
FOX gets ARRESTED again. The network has ordered a third full season of the Emmy Award-winning comedy series ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, it was announced today by Peter Liguori, President, Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company.
“ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is one of the best comedies on television. The decision to order another season becomes easy when you consider its amazing cast, creative brilliance, critical acclaim and advertiser appeal," said Liguori. "It\'s my first official pick-up since taking the job, and I think it\'s a great way to start."
The critically acclaimed series revolves around Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman), the good son who must run the family business and continue to pick up the pieces as he keeps his offbeat family from falling apart. The comedy has featured guest appearances by numerous stars including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Liza Minnelli, Heather Graham and Ben Stiller. Last year, the show received five Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, Writing, Directing, Casting and Editing. Additionally, Jason Bateman won a Golden Globe for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role – Musical or Comedy Series and the show was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards for Outstanding Musical or Comedy Series. This past season, the cast was nominated for a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. The show was also named an AFI Program of the Year and received the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Comedy, among other accolades.
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is produced by Imagine Television and 20th Century Fox Television. Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, David Nevins and Mitch Hurwitz are executive producers.

Well someone once said that Justice is Blind but not in this case.
Entirely deserved.
The only down side is that Fox now has to put Simple Life: Astronomers, on hold.

Simple Life is one show I can totally do without. Hate the Hilton, except for in 1 Night in Paris and her chubby little friend.

Exclusive! Jason Bateman Confirms Arrested Development Movie Talks
Categories: arrested development
This just might be the best news we Arrested fans have heard in a very long time.
Jason Bateman has just confirmed to me that the creative minds behind Arrested Development (Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard) have put the wheels in motion toward a major motion picture of the Fox TV comedy so many of us adore. I\'m told by insiders that Jason and other Bluth family members have received calls from producers (Hurwitz and Howard) asking if they would be willing to shoot a movie.
"I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started," Bateman says. "Any talk is targeting a poststrike situation, of course. I think, as always, that it\'s a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed."
Jeffrey Tambor also revealed on XM Radio\'s the Ron and Fez Show that he has been approached by Ron Howard to see if he\'s willing to do an Arrested film. (You can hear that interview below.)
For the record, both Jason and Jeffrey\'s answers were: Hells yeah. And I hear from other sources that other castmembers were called and that everyone seems to be very much on board and excited by the prospect.
Insiders also tell me that while creator Mitch Hurwitz does not yet have a script, he has a good, solid understanding of what he\'d like to do for the movie, and Universal is very much interested.
And so it seems that a few good—wait, no, outrageously amazing—things just might come out of this unfortunate writers\' strike, as the creative minds in this town have had time to pause, regroup and think about their dream projects.
And an Arrested movie is a pretty great dream, is it not?
So, let\'s join our crossed fingers with the rest of the cast, shall we?

-
Yeah, I read this a few days go and just blue myself silly....
-
Further confirmation (http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2008/05/arrested-movie-developing-maeby.php) that this is in the works from Alia Shawkat:
I got a call from Mitchell Hurwitz, the creator, and he said "so have you heard about this movie we\'re supposedly doing?" and I said yes. And he said he was in and it was great. And Jason [Bateman], when he was doing all the Juno press, he basically just talked up [Arrested Development] the movie. He got the publicity going before anything was real. So Mitch talked to Ron Howard, who said he would direct it, and he\'s down. So I think Mitch was like, "I guess I\'ll write it then," and that\'s what I think he\'s doing now. And yes, I\'m involved. I think everyone is.
