-
Dave you were callin songs left and right haha
Pretty sure I didn\'t hear that Scheme though ;)
Fuck whoever stole my Livity hoodie. Kind of an odd evening, but I\'m glad I went... Synergy jam was something else huh?
-
Absolute sickness!
jam > tribal was amazing. The whole show was unbelievable. Wish Toad\'s was in the cards.
Best band ever.
I swear there is a vortex over one of those couches!!!!
Did we really float out of there at 3:30? And unfortunately, no tapers :(
And no, we never ended up at the casino trying to get that doughboy fix.
-
sickest type two jamming ever.
rush and queeb = 2-3 am
Red Square produces the best shows I have ever seen on a consistent basis. plain/simple.

Wow, awesome show. The setlist doesn\'t even begin to explain what went down. Every song was jammed so fuckin far out. The funk jam in Tribal pwnt all in attendance and set the bar high for the rest of the night. Really ser chill space jam in either STL or Psygn. Hard Luck Coma Harry was perfect. Has that ever been done before cause it sounded like it was meant to be played like that every time! Second set started out right with a trippy as fuck Synergy. I hadn\'t heard that tune in a bit and I almost forgot how good it is. The Jam>Cut Me Some Slack was out of control funky. Pretty cool that they dusted off Peace Frog, I\'ve always liked that tune and the Breakfast\'s version is perfect. Good song to showcase the talents of Mr. Jordo Sequoia Branch Giangreco. More funk madness during Mayfly which was an appropriate song choice as the mayflys were def out earlier that night and covered our windsheild with their splattered bug corpses on the way to Albany. Finally a Rush, such a great Breakfast tune. There was some talk of a missed section, but I didn\'t really notice, they def pulled it off w/ out making it seem fucked up at all. By the time Queeb rolled around I was tired. Shit was crazy though and kept me moving regardless of my fatigue. Ser techno dance party biz! The Doughboy encore then proceeded to rip us all new assholes :wah: I feel bad for anyone who considers themselves a Bfast fan that was not there last night, you missed out on some top fuckin notch Breakfast and you will never know the epicness of the jams that went down because sadly another raging show went untaped :( Pretty decent turnout but where were all the CTers? Dre, Happy Birthday, thanks for the hospitality and the :stoned: maybe see ya at Toads if we can get this gypsie clan on the road again tonight.

my bad dude i got a ride with a buddy of mine, why didnt you call me though? obviously i planned on having you guys sleep at my place.
-
I know homie. no worries. we pretty much planned on doing a driveby from the getgo.
-
adrian def had a drum solo at end of queeb i think ?
-
queeb was with band intros and solos
-
< < < PM\'s :P
Excellent show as Breakfast always is. Not gonna front though, some of the type III jamming seemed kinda forced, not quite locked in as usual. Go so far to say that I thought they brought way more heat for last 2 Iron Horse gigs and the recent Mill Street show.
Synergy was played stunningly though, the Queeb was pretty cool and Doughboy is the shit. I normally don\'t drink beers @ shows anymore maybe this is why, I don\'t remember it that well and I get tired too early :P
Oh yeah now I remember Rush too... all I could do was stand there and bask in it. But like... wtf... 2 dozen people left in the house by that point, max? I can\'t really blame people that left, that show just went too late. When I get home at 6:00am that = no sleep for me = no show for me the next night.
Good to see those ah ya that made it.
-
Show was awesome. jam>tribal was wonderful, it\'s been awhile since i\'ve gotten an affliction. Way more things to say, but just don\'t have it in me. Toads should be a party. Klout said it perfectly.
Gfunk- good chilling for sure, glad you guys came up. I went to get ice and by the time I got outside I missed you guys. Glad you guys had a safe ride, have a good show tonight.
-
show was fucking out of control. That slack was unpredictable with a high rate of ownage. I agree with Gfunk, shame on all of you who didn\'t attend. We drove 3 hours out and 3 back, didn\'t get home until 7am and had to put up with Gabo rambling like a Wook about the ser show and adj\'s epic cd until the sun came up. Always worth it. Thanks for the late night hospitality Dredmonkey, shoot me a PM sometime soon. Thanks Fierybill for remembering the set list.
-
looks epic.....i remember the last show at red square being among one of the best nights of music i\'ve EVER seen, but this setlist is amazing.....i pray it was taped :) jeeeeeez. apparently i need to get back on the breakfast train :)
-
very disappointing not to see you last night.......says the voice from black sunday. ;)

..i pray it was taped :) jeeeeeez.

Definitely a potential BUSE, and BESE= (One of the) Best Experienced Shows Ever.
I entered the Breakfast space ship, and it was amazing to vibrate in the synchronicity of the room. Hands down one of the sexiest shows ever.
-

My buddy ended up just giving this guy $4 to go away. He busted out some shit wrapped up a paper, came up to us and was like "smell this".
So I smelled it, and it didn\'t smell like jack shit but paper to me. So I was like what the fuck is that you got there. He looks astonished, "****, dude! you can\'t smell that?"
-
yup thats that guy.. fuck that guy.
seriously. why can\'t anyone tape these Red Square shows?
-
question is why doesnt anyone go to red square shows ? bust out central
-
yup thats that guy.. fuck that guy.
seriously. why can\'t anyone tape these Red Square shows?
Well after a hell of a day on Friday I didn\'t make the trek.
My go to guy for all things Albany is missing a big part of his rig. He may have been at the show as he and a few others were planning to go regardless.
Red Square is usually well covered by tapers.

yup! walking into the synergy jam for the second set... felt like i was walking into new world. the acoustics in the room were incredible, which made the rest of the night/early morning even more enjoyable. best breakfast show i\'ve ever been to, without a doubt.

Synergy jam featured some of the nastiest guitar I\'ve seen.
Peace Frog... oh yeah, lol, that was that song I didn\'t really like. Doors = snooooze
2nd set would have been straight fire without the Zzzz Frog ;)

lol.. no i agree, i could have done without it as well. i don\'t know what it was, the sound, the playing, or maybe the help of some pcp ;) but i\'ve never heard the breakfast like i did in set 2. newb/whatever, that was incredible.

How does "peacefrogg" concur that he could have done without "Peace Frog"? My head hurts...
-
dude likes to get wet, who can question that logic
:peace:
-
wait a sec, whose peacefrogg?!?
-
pardon my ignorance but what is type I, II, and III jamming? I\'ve head the terms a few times but don\'t know what they refer to. Anyways, that show was absolutely awesome. I arrived exhausted; yet once the b\'fast began I couldn\'t help but get up and dance! I thought I heard a Primus or Les Claypool tease at one point during the show, but I could just be imagining that. Great, great weekend seeing the breakfast & fam.
-
Peace Frog withouth Blue Sunday just blows... I\'ve been saying it for years...

I could probably wikipedia this for a better answer but...
Type 1 jamming = Variations of an established theme, usually sticking to the original key / mode or however people teach themselves music. Think: Live "Wading in a Velvet Sea"... Trey is basically attempting to play the melody as it was originally written but there is improv.
Type 2 jamming = Varations in time / key / basically a bit adventurous but still within the scope of the original song. Think "Stash".
Type 3 jamming = That 27+ minute AC/DC bag.... jams that make you forget what the hell they were playing. And many of the long funked out jams. Breakfast jams this way a lot and it takes some balls to do it because it\'s basically full-on improv with the intent of, at some point, getting back to some resemblance of the song.
-
of course you have to reference phish for the types of jamming, because, well, they invented it.
tweezer from A Live One.....mad type III
-
tunage from daniel street in august, SER TYPE III...probably the best breakfast example i can think of off the top of my head
-
Thanks for the clarification. A lot more posts make sense to me now :D
-
what song is this again?
-
All rolled into one...
-
peacefrogg = palli
peaches i\'ve met you a few times (and a few others) but forget your names every time! lol. partied with you in utica at the premoe.down throw.down a few years ago. i\'m friends with greg. i\'ve only been to a handful of shows (middle east, the call, porter\'s tap room..) but have been going since \'04.
thanks for explaining the type jamming. i was a bit confused as well. definitely makes more sense now!
peaches... it was the stone church show that i raged with you if you remember. we were slammin crown n cokes all night and my buddy kule brought his bull mastiff which was running around during the whole second set. lol. just trying to jog your memory, since it took me a second too ;)

So let me get this straight...your handle is "peacefrogg" and you could have done without hearing Peace Frog? And I assume that you probably have other "Peace Frog" handles and email addresses and thus have been devoted to proclaiming your love of Peace Frog for a long time. I mean, you didn\'t just show up on thebreakfast.info and think "Gee, I need a handle for this new board I\'m joining, what the heck should I go with? How about Peace Frog, that\'s a good song." No, you ARE the Peace Frog. Peace Frog is YOUR friggin song. Furthermore, unless you are seeing a Doors cover band, Peace Frog is a total bustout by anybody. How are you not shocked and stoked any time this happens? How many times in your life will you see Peace Frog performed live by anybody?
NANNIES ALERT!

Granted it doesn\'t have to be the highlight of your show or anything, but I\'m curious to know how you could do without your theme song, played as a total bustout by a band as good as The Breakfast.
I know where he\'s coming from... Vassillios isn\'t my favorite DB song. But it makes for a cool handle.
I\'d rather hear Vassillios than most DB songs tho.
-
I understand that, I mean, Wolfman\'s Brother isn\'t in my top 10 favorite Phish songs, but how could I possibly say I could "do without" it?
I\'m quite certain that this frog is full of nannies. He loved the shit out of hearing that Peace Frog. It was possibly the greatest thing that ever happened to him. It was either the most fortuitous break he\'ll get all year, or he paid the band $100 to play it. Either way, he loved it.
-
He probably just wanted to agree with me because I\'m always right.

lmao. wow my post is really taking a turn for the worse! i definitely enjoyed the peacefrog bustout, but i would of* much rather heard another breakfast song. so yeah i was happy and suprised to hear the song considering i hadn\'t posted on this message board in years and i did that day.
and in regards to the handle.. i was signing up for pt.moe years ago and didn\'t know what to use for a handle, then peacefrog came on while i was signing up.. soooo there ya go. and i use that handle for just about everything i sign up for so i don\'t forget my usernames!
-
hey, even a favorite song can be poorly placed in a setlist
-
sorry to derail this thread about peacefrog! i just came in here to talk about how amazing i thought the show was. i haven\'t experienced that feeling during a live show in a while.
-
palli! of course- we have raged many a time and I always (always!) forget your name when i see you
i\'m probably not hittin any shows until the breakfast/umelt boat cruise in boston (my birthday! maybe we can get my namesake song?) maybe i\'ll see ya then!
-
I\'ll be honest with you... Peace Frog is one of my all-time favorite songs, but it\'s one of my least favorite TB covers... Personally, they lose me when they start jamming at the end of the tune... To me, that\'s a song that doesn\'t need to be jammed...
-
I understand that, I mean, Wolfman\'s Brother isn\'t in my top 10 favorite Phish songs, but how could I possibly say I could "do without" it?

ds673488 is not one of my favorite songs...

of course you have to reference phish for the types of jamming, because, well, they invented it.
tweezer from A Live One.....mad type III
not to be disagreeable, but i couldn\'t let this one go.............
phish invented jamming? i think not. ever heard of the grateful dead? allman brothers?
you may like phish\'s jamming better than other bands, and that\'s cool, but they most definately did not "invent" it

Neither did any band in the 60\'s. It goes back way beyond the dead or abb/
-
We could probably go back to cavemen "jamming" with sticks and rocks...
But yeah Phish is the easiest the most common way to explain Type I, II, III jamming. We\'ve all heard Tweezer off A Live One ;)
-
bruce springsteen invented jamming, we all know that
-
bruce springsteen invented the butt plug, we all know that
fixed:)

No, I am definitely not saying Phish invented jamming, not even close.
I was referring to them inventing the "types" of jamming. That statement could also be considered untrue, since the dead, allmans and jazz musicians had been experimenting for many years prior to Phish.
But nobody talked about type I, II, and III jams until Phish statsticians came around... so I guess the wording was invented alongside Phish jams.
-
I\'m thinking that guitar soloing specifically started with classical guitar in Spain. Bass soloing- jazz origins...Keyboard solos- Mozart time or earlier (What about the key-tar?)...drum soloing from tribal Africa is the oldest.
-
I thought I heard a Primus or Les Claypool tease at one point during the show, but I could just be imagining that. Great, great weekend seeing the breakfast & fam.
I defenitely heard that too! it was some thing off of this album:

i totally missed the more nuanced "types of jamming" you were talking about, and to be honest with you, i\'d never really heard of type I, II, etc.
i don\'t doubt for a minute that phish initiated that and many other innovations. they\'re a great band.........i\'m seeing them in scenic camden, nj on 6/7
wiki has some interesting reading

i thoroughly enjoyed red square. long live the breakfast!
