a quick but powerful show tonight. turbine (the opening band) brought out the breakfast for their final tune (7 year blues?) and it was awesome! timmy was throwing some crazy-ass licks at the tubine guitarist, and turbine dude was holding his own! very nice!! somewhere in there i met a 40something tourist who had (literally) stumbled in randomly. he *loved* it

the mayfly, tribal funk sammy was unreal, as was the intro jam to sleeping beauty!! they came out hot, played for most of two straight hours and i ended up staying the whole time...

good crowd on a wednesday night in MD?
-
Lackluster from what I heard.
Set looks good. Like to see the LDZ>HDX, Tribal sandwich is always tasty.

awesome show, pretty much a doozie. can\'t expect too many people to come out in Bmore on a weds night, probably the smallest crowd i\'ve ever seen for pb at the funk box..too bad i made it there late, was with annoying fucking people and had to move my car in the middle of the show. moral of this story: do not bring 2 french guys and mr. ghetto fabulous with you anywhere anymore. also, getting lost in baltimore after the show while trying to find a strip club and ending up in the projects=NOT COOL
jking thanks for the drink, u da man, nice SER shirt ...gonna have to get one for myself one of these days.

Highest crime rate in the country, my grandmother lives down there. She wont go into the city without 2 or 3 people. Heh.

I\'m sure a posse of Grandmothers can hold of the hood rats.

The guy at the door told me I was the fifteenth person to arrive when I got there, and hell, that may have even included the band. It was the emptiest I\'ve ever seen the Funk Box, but they played well nonetheless. Tribal Funk Affliction>What the Funk>Tribal Funk Affliction was super tight.
Perhaps next time they should get The Bridge to open for them or someone similar that will bring in the local crowd.

Openers need to be local bands. For just that reason. They need to pull in the local crowd. I don\'t know what else to say or do for this band and the lack of attendence. I\'m almost out of ideas. Something has to give.

the guys at the funk box seem to really like the breakfast, it\'s definitely an awesome venue too. i called before i got there to find out if the breakfast would be going on a little late because they usually do. i was told it would be $10 cover or $3 i can\'t remember, but then didn\'t make me pay at all when i got to the door..i think they were kind of disappointed that it was such a tiny crowd..honestly, no more than 20-25 people were there
nickslk-are u the guy i told to go to this website? at the merch table after the show?
-
Nope.
Although I did pick up a copy of the new disc after the show.
-
looks like a pretty sick setlist, any tapers at the show?
-
manhandler/dobz with dave peck\'s gear maybe?
-
Unless there was someone plugged directly into the board, there were no tapers.
-
i think josh may have taped but i\'m really not sure. chris wasn\'t there last night.
-
dobz with dave peck\'s gear maybe?
check.
-
i saw one rig upstairs, but i don\'t know if that was dobz or not...
when i got there, the guy at the door asked me who i was there to see. i emphatically replied,THE BREAKFAST!!! he chuckled. when we got inside and saw maybe ten or so folks, i figured out why he\'d asked. luckily some more folks showed up, but not many.
one guy who was there, though, was a drunken 40something tourist who\'d heard the music outside and came on in. he got there for the turbine/b\'fast jam at the end of turbine\'s set and *loved* it. he couldn\'t believe it wasn\'t all one band, and he\'s "been around some music before!"
y\'all should\'ve seen that jam, too! the electric guitarist really impressed me. timmy\'s solo was really tasteful and mature, i though, and then this kid stepped up and really put some oomph into it! at the end, he and timmy were trading licks (as was harmonica guy) and timmy (with a big ol\' shit eating grin) was throwing out some crazy-ass licks, to which turbine guy always responded! sometimes he responded by bringing the jam back around because timmy had done one of those bizarre seemingly impossible runs, but most of the time he gave timmy\'s run a shot. very ince, indeed. hopefully that got taped, too.
nick, you should\'ve have said hello, my man.

confirm on the taping

That or the cult she is involved in. :bounce3:
I may be settling in Batimore for the summer with her, i\'ll be sure to do promo down there, as someone was saying the venue is sweet, but the city doesn\'t get enough credit either, it\'s pretty large in size, and all type of people in it, comparible to new haven on a large scale.
