Space City Affair > Rufus
Tell me SOMEONE is awake and on the forum to appreciate this!
Your posting is appreciated. So far looks like one of the sickest sets of the year!
-
appreciated!! :)

Looks to me like that first set goes on forever... and then what is Rufus in the second...This looks nitty gritty. Regardless... likes like MA was the place to be tonight. After so few full shows in so many days the boys must have regrouped to really unload, or are they fired up after some time in the studio? Nice
-
at what point of rufus did they go into gravity?

at what point of rufus did they go into gravity?
I assume after the intro, but I\'m not sure.
No text messages from Dave in almost an hour... setlist is still assumed incomplete. As of 3:00am, I\'ll be going to sleep.
-
it actually was rufus>gravity>no quarter
-
Just got home and they definitely played No Quarter right before the whole space city affair>rufus. Great show tonight. 1st set was about 100 minutes with a shortened 50 minute 2nd set, but one of the best Breakfast shows I have seen.
-
whoa!!!! that show kicked ass in a serious way
bowl > bed > post more when I wake up
That Sundance was beautiful. Gladys Pimp was out of control.. damn that show was good.... best show I\'ve seen?? hafta sleep on it :)
-
i\'ll sum the evening up with the best quote of the night.
at some point during space city affair (i think), walsh turns to me after looking at timmy and says "DAMN, i would TOTALLY fuck that guy." 5 minutes later, he turns back, "nah, i wouldn\'t fuck timmy. cause i really want to fuck ron!"
"i have such a man crush"
-
the Mayfly sandwich was sweet. Is it just me or do they always play Lit in the greater Worcester area? either way, i was happy to hear it. Gladys Pimp was huuuuge, slightly moreso than the Rufus which was solid but didn\'t stand up to the Cambridge version, due to time restrictions. The second set setlist also called for a Food For Thought after Sundance, and Gladys Pimp> Hardluck Harry> Rufus. That\'ve put some people in the hospital if they had enough time. Either way, amazing show, probably my favorite since 12/23/05.

:banghead: are you fucking kiddin\' :banghead:

last night was good, but it seemed very rushed in the second set. First set was about 91 minutes (unless I can\'t count which is possible). Highlight was gravity>no quarter>gravity by far. missed the begining of psygn for the second set which was just "ok" IMO. They seemed very rushed the whole set (probably cause it didn\'t start till 1AM or so). Could have done without cosmic and got the HLH instead. Rufus was sub-par, yet again due to the time factor. They turned on all the lights just as it was about to pick up a head of steam. Glady\'s was def. second set highlight.
No lights last night was a bummer. I think that place would look really good if they turned off all the TV\'s that nobody was watching. And the sound was good but too f\'n loud in the beginning. People might not like what I\'m about to say, but turn it down just a little, not alot, but alittle. Last two shows I was at (this and cambridge) it was really f\'n loud. Overall, good show, nothing standout, but a solid show.
ps...on a side note, last 3 shows I attended all had a rufus in them. wierd
-
great setlist, not so great execution. first set was terribly sloppy. a couple of technical issues with the bass, and the worst segue ever into Bugs. as one band member stated, "i don\'t think we nailed a single segue in the entire set". the Gravity > No Quarter > Gravity was quite good though. but the second set, although about 40 minutes shorter, was defintiely much, much better.

And somehow it managed to be one of the best shows I\'ve seen, in spite of time restraints, no groovy lights and some extra mysterious segues. Maybe the sick setlist had something to do with it, but the overall feel of the show was intense!
Future Peek IMO is a real jewel out of their new songs. I heard it once before, maybe twice not sure but it definitely didn\'t rock as hard as last night.
If Escher\'s was finished, I didn\'t notice. Good to see that again anyway.
They got Tricky Ways out of the way early on in the set so it didn\'t mess with my groove too much ;)
From then on out the 1st set proceeded to suck me in deep. Smoke break >> chug some booze in the car >> and I\'m back for:
II: Psygn > jam > Sundance, jam > Cosmic Spaceway Rhyme, Gladys Pimp And Kangaroos With Me > Rufus
Holy shit... right?! Psygn and Rufus were a little squeezed for time so those probably won\'t go down in history but SUNDANCE blew my mind, surrounded by a heady jam even better...
They pulled all the stops for Gladys Pimp and its been a long long time since I\'ve heard one that good. That song made me pull some funky dance moves right off the shelf. Epic.
thoroughly satisfied and well-fed for experience today :)

how was the energy of the people at the show?

par for the course for any new england breakfast show.
-
well i guess you cant see em all but when i first read that setlist i was pissed that i missed last nights show. after hearing that it might look better on paper, i feel slightly better. I can\'t wait for june!
-
don\'t believe the hype..;) . that was my favorite show since Syracuse in January!
-
How was the turnout?
-
Wasn\'t a big fan of the first set, esp the bugs segue
the Glady\'s was fuckin HOT though
best Future Peek I\'ve heard yet
Space City Affair > Rufus > Gravity > No Quarter > Gravity
^^NASTY!!
-
"bounce with me, bounce with me.." :bounce2: TPalms during jam b/f csr...
future peek is sounding better everytime I hear it.. great to see greg ellis raging it up front.. I liked the somehwat choppy feel of the show. good to see everyone of course.. until next time
-
How was the turnout?
it was alright, the crowd was pretty solid throughout the show, not much of a set break drop off. this was the first time i\'ve been here and my observations; this place should be packed with UMASS kids if i\'ve ever been to a show that should be. headie lot, decent prices for beers and security was basically nonexistant. major drawbacks: the bartenders were pretty bad, i could have done better and i have no short term memory. last call was 5-10 early and we got shut down on the encore. but honestly this place has some serious potential. i thought is was a good, fun show.
-
It is a great venue, indeed.
Was it up or down stairs?

agreed..... at one point i gave a rough count and it was around a hundred... i believe that was late first set.......
definitely when i walked in i felt a good vibe.... very nice show but hated the short second set and no encore..... no time to talk but my highlight was certainly the open faced gravity>no 1/4>gravity sandwich on rufus bread
wooooooooo!!!!
-

Was it up or down stairs?
I climbed some rediculous stairs so i guess it was in the upstairs
-
yeah, my tab turned out pretty cheap. Stupid me ended up tipping the waitress 20 bucks for three beers though... (duh it was already charged to the card I gave her)
moral of the story, don\'t make financial descisions right after a Breakfast hoe down
-
major drawbacks: the bartenders were pretty bad, i could have done better and i have no short term memory.
:that:
-
Gladys was def. my highlight!!! Last nights Future Peek made me REALLY like this song a lot. That Gravity>NQ>Gravity was  They had the entire upstairs open last night. Had no idea that they had 3 other large rooms in the back. Two pool tables in one. And a stage in the way back room with some heavy alternative stuff going on. Checked out a couple minutes of it and what I witnessed wasn\'t bad. No idea of the name of the band though. And yeah, the bartenders SUCKED BIG MOOSE NUTS!!!!!!!
-
last night show was very enjoyable even if the band was sloppy last night. i didnt really notice it that much..except for when they were breaking into bugs. no quarter was fucking UNREAL- i loved it. really hope i dont have to work the night/day after of the stone church!!
-
sloppy segues aside, I thought the show overall was good, not a great one, but a damn good one that was alot of fun. Future Peek: for some reason I still can\'t get into it, call me st00pid I guess. Tricky Ways is more enjoyable to me than FP. Sans the Gravitywich, which was disgustingly tasty, Gladys definitely was crazy good, rivalling the Iron Horse, which for me was my personal favorite Gladys to date. Nice crowd, lots of energy, and even a few cougars mixed in there. Except for the sketchy kid up front, not sure if anyone knows him or if he is a .infoer, but he was a little ridiculous and almost managed to spark an antbach heymaker to the jaw, which is a hard task to spark. As always, good seeing who I saw, Lexington nice to meet ya under coherent terms. See you freaks at the church.
-
are you talking about the dude in the white shirt? cuz he was being a drunken butthead.
-
eh... pretty sure the awful jackass you guys are talkin about is my buddys friend. I told him to chill multiple times but I think he was secretly poppin\' rolls throughout the night as well as gettin shithoused on top of it so there wasn\'t much I could do but enjoy the show and give him the occasional jab in the ribs when he was making dumb moves.
Ah, what can I say, I think this is the kids first show that isn\'t a hardcore concert and he probably got confused by all the lovely ladies who get down to the psych-funk grooves at a Breakfast show. This kid is basically mentally retarded when it boils down to it. He did say he thought the concert was awesome but I doubt he really remembers much.
Well, part of being a psychedelic soldier is giving n00bs rides to shows as part of spreading the good word of Breakfast. But you ladies can rest assured you won\'t see him at a Breakfast show ever again.
He was being a drunken butthead. Sorry Sally, not part of my plan either ..
-
thats ok, I was being a drunken butthead too...I dont think i have even met you. Next time you should say hello :)
-
ya know I was going to but then I thought, this kid I brought to the show is no doubt pissing her off.. and, well I had a very productive lot sesh in the setbreak so I\'m not sure where my train of thought when from there...
I\'ve only really met a handful of ppl from this board. When I started hittin up PB shows in 02 I always brought my ex-girlfiend and a few old school diehards who these days for whatever reason couldn\'t care less for Breakfast (oh I know the reason, they suck now).. so I\'d always hang with my own crew and recognize familiar faces but not really introduce myself. Lame, I know...
wasn\'t until this year I started going to Breakfast shows on my own and with my buddy Chris who plays bass and thinks Save is the sickest bass player on the planet-- at which point I started sayin "hi" to the people I\'ve seen over the last few years and recognized.
As Stephen put it @ Mill St. (nice to finally meet you formally by the way dude-- give me a pre-show shout out for party favors in the future ;) ) I guess I\'ve been kind of an unknown on the scene.
ya know, thinking back I\'ve probably been groovin\' in your general vicinity at at least a dozen of these shindigs. Same goes for just about everyone here. Reckon I\'m a relatively shy guy in terms of introducing myself when it comes down to it.
mmmm straight whiskey = entire life story if I\'m not careful lol
-
haha...well good to know you, and dont be so shy.
-
yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
-
^^
sorry you didn\'t like it ;)
-
whoever was walking around with that drink "UB40" (i think that was the name)...thanks for giving me and nicole a sip, it was pretty good....what was in that again? redbull, vodka, and ???
-
I just uploaded a bunch of pics from the night if anyone is interested.

-wich A compound word using the name of any song combined with the second half only of the noun \'wedgewich\' (Which in itself is a compound word based on sandwich). Used to describe any number of songs that weave in and out of one song such as ep2>no regret>ep 2>mommy, what\'s a funkadelic>ep 2. Elisions can be used as needed for proper rhythm. example: Gravitywich.
disgustingly tasty While most would go running to the hills screaming oxymoron, the astute breakfast fan will quickly identify the proper anti-use of disgustingly in the sentence as a positive adjective.
example sentence (Antbach)
Sans the Gravitywich, which was disgustingly tasty, Gladys definitely was crazy good, rivaling the Iron Horse, which for me was my personal favorite Gladys to date.

thanks

I\'m pretty stoked to check out the recording of this show. That Gladys has got to be one of the best (standing up against 2004-10-30 and 2002-04-20 as my favorites). Definitely stomped all over the last Iron Horse Gladys IMO.

the worst segue ever into Bugs
:that: :shock2: Hearing it that night made me want to go listen to a symphony of kids scratching their nails on blackboards. Hearing it now makes me want to run skewers through my ears!!! YIKES!!!! Currently, Gravity>NQ>Gravity is keeping me from doing just that!
