In a post here on .info on Thursday, drummer Adrian Tramontano responded to questions that have been raised this year about the future of The Breakfast:
ok, since its taking my band forever to make an official statement of the future of the breakfast.... i might as well tell you, the fans, a couple of things. the band is in serious debt and has been for a long, long time, and it has gotten worse the more we\'ve played .we are playing the markets that pay us the best this year to hopefully get out of it. and by liquidating everything like the van and trailer, crew, etc., it might happen. so everybody is thinking about serious changes in their lives to become successful at music and biz... the breakfast will always play together from time to time.... they are just too good not to. the times had and still to have are the best and an education or money cannot buy that. there will be more info on this subject in the future. i\'m not good at this shit so i will stop typing..
thanx,
adrian

honesty is greatly appreciated. best of luck, do what you gotta do.
-
still the best band ever.
the show must go on.
and I have faith that it will.
-
my favorite band ever. lets do what we gotta do boys and girls.
-
bring on the cool side projects until the breakfast comes back full force
-
ill never stop seeing the breakfast, so long as they are still playing shows...best times in life have been in front of a stage watching this band
-
yea my car is dunzo but I am still gonna hit up as many shows as possible this summer

Kind of ironic for things in my life right now. I will support wherever I can and see them whenever I can. Economy sucks. Gotta keep trucking.
-
long live the breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wish I was just a billionaire I would pay off all their debt, buy them a tour bus, the best management possible, a crew, a steady merch supply, and a steady salary for each of them for a contract to play 250 shows a year.
would be a great investment.. If money ends up being what kills the bfast then it truly is the root of all evil as far as I am concerned.

I agree completely. I love this band and want nothing more than to see their success.
Best band on the planet. Love you more than words can tell.

I would buy them some art (a Picasso or a Garfunkel).

I support the guys in whatever they are going to do. They are all fantastic musicians. Whatever happens, I\'ll still go out as much as I can (although it hasn\'t been as much as I would like it to be lately) & show love.

There may be opportunities for fund-raising type events this summer....
If one of the band members feels like confiding in me the extent of their debt (since "big time debt" is relative), I may be able to knock over the first domino. A private message would be cool, or maybe I\'ll get in touch.
A benefit concert/festival at the end of the summer or early fall perhaps?
Members of The Breakfast... ask yourselves.... what can Tuna do for you? And then let me know. If you are serious I will start pulling some strings.

I support this post !! i\'ll help in any way possible also

I think obama should bail them out the same way he did for the car companies. It\'s only fair.
-
breakfast benefit? :)

Why not do a benefit @ Toads like they did for the stolen equipment...

I personally blame bdfreetuna for the current situation. Why haven\'t these strings been pulled already? We were all counting on you to save the band. The way I see it, this is all your fault.

i totally just caught that bnl reference.....oh you are a witty one....
i will help in any way i can. i tried to drop their name for this summer to get booked, but all town sponsored events like 4th of july, summer concerts on the green are booked almost a year in advance. But they are on the list for consideration next year....
i think the fall festival is still meeting now and determining acts. Quick easy local gigs that bring in $$$ is what they need.

Ken, please dont misguide all your posative energy. The Breakfast is going to be around for as long as New Haven hasnt been decimated by nuclear warfare or overrun with a foreign invader. What needs to be focused on and nurtured is the creative genius that is in these guys. The Breakfast is solid. It is obvious, 10 years later, that IT IS NOT out time (the Breakfast\'s time).....However, we are still privy to the musicians and have the ability to support them in all they do. At this point we should encourage them all to go out and make their mark in the scene, and then bring the Breakfast back in 2 to 3 to 5 or WHATEVER years, when it IS THEIR TIME. Tim couldn\'t even humor me with a tease of a new original song at BAR this week. I was saddened by that for many reasons, but most of all knowing that it may be time for The Breakfast to back their way out of "the scene", and its time for these guys to get out and start getting the recognition that they have had coming to them for a decade now. Either way, its been one hell of a week and I cannot wait to get to Toads Place tomorrow for whatever is gonna happen..........514-EAD
-
I\'m glad this came out, and it\'s pretty clear that the people here will do whatever they can to support the band. Clearly, we all need to get out and pack Toads tonight. I think Ken\'s idea has some merit to get the boys out of the hole they\'re in. Count me in.
As for the long-term direction of the band, I think they need to do whatever it is that they feel they need to do to make whatever it is they want to happen to happen. huh?
These are some of the most talented musicians I\'ve ever seen or heard. They should be packing venues large and small. At the very least, they should be able to make a decent living sharing their gift.
I don\'t know what it takes to make a band "hit it big." It\'s probably a combination of talent, desire, hard work, luck, and timing. If they want "our" help with that, then I\'m sure we\'ll all give what we can. But I don\'t think it\'s clear what it is we *should* be doing--and it\'s bigger than .info. Think "preaching to the choir." I\'m sure some gigs pay more than others while other gigs just get them good exposure. I don\'t even pretend to understand the whole booking and management thing.
I\'m not really sure where I\'m going with this--and I have to take my kids to a soccer game--but I guess the point is we appreciate the band want to support them any way we can.
-
we really should be paying to download shows. if we want this band to continue playing, we gotta support them in every way we can.
I totally agree! The live stuff is the best music to have, so why not make them a little extra back for all of the free music we\'ve enjoyed all this time?
-
perfect solution: toads place will have $300 tickets tonight. if you already bought one, you can get the discounted ticket of $295. If you\'re on guest list, you\'re probably ALWAYS on guestlist and you get the special guest list price of $987!
problem=solved. :lol:
-
Paying to download shows........ awww come on :( ... letting people listen to shows is free advertising. Bad idea IMO and would suck for those of us who rage the downloads.
Now... KEN... right on man! Somebody set this shit up and we\'ll see what we\'ve got in us. Right? Can\'t hurt.
My general impression shootin the shit for a minute with Adrian last night (correct me if I\'m wrong man) is that, yeah as musicians they want to explore and see what possibilities there are, but I\'m pretty sure if they could at least get paid they\'d be raging Breakfast for life.
Long live The Breakfast! Set up the fund and we\'ll see what happens, right? And get them to headline the "Let It Roll Festival - Sept 18th-20th" ... as discussed in the camping thread I think this is really good timing to give something back. When you want something to happen -- you make it happen.
If half the board shits on the idea of a fund... whatever feel free to not pitch in. I think you might be surprised...

really wish i wasnt sitting here at work til 9pm. wish i was on my way to CT to rage Toad\'s with everyone. here\'s hoping to a NJ show in the near future....

I encourage and applaud all efforts to help the band out but it is going to take more than erasing their debt to make them successful. There is more than money problems holding them back and nothing seems to have an easy solution.
Raising money is always a good thing though so what I was thinking is the band should look at releasing some stuff on itunes. They could do a remaster of an old show or release some studio quality singles for low overhead.

Sorry you\'re bitter that you don\'t get to see The Breakfast out there on the west cost but this post is uncalled for. The negativity is not helping anything. Your whole "I told you so," attitude as of late really sucks. Yeah I\'m sure if we all just listened to you over all these years The band would be at least as big as TLG right ? Since you are so wise and prolific, why don\'t you just enlighten us all and tell us what needs to happen now to save the band instead of posting shit like "enjoy the slow death of a great band." It\'s obviously all us kool-aid drinking northeasterners faults that the band is in this position, right. We should never have tried to support the band and what ever decisions they felt were the right ones to make. we all shouldve listened to leith :banghead:
-
How about just eliminating the guest list at shows so the band can make more of a profit. Too many people take advantage of these fellas. It should be for pleasure that we do favors for them and not to be able to get into shows free of charge. IT NEEDS TO STOP

I think another kool-aid is in order, whaddya say Papa? :beerban:

i wonder how big the guest list is to Toads. i bet its like 15deep or so....

Yeah well that thread was not even abt just the West Coast. You see as most of you fucking think I do not just desire things to go well so they tour out here. I want things to go well so they can just tour. Even if that means up and down the east coast and only the east coast.
If my suggestion was welcomed back then and followed through with maybe they would have gotten more exposure because they were touring.
Maybe due to the efforts of the fans the band would have been able to concentrate on touring and since they would have been around maybe someone would have seen the potential to manage them and .....
You see? THAT is what that thread was about.
That is all this band can really do to get visibility. TOUR
As it seems this fund raising idea is welcome now because it\'s a do or die feeling which it should have been years ago. But noooo all of you wanted to just let the band do what they want.
These guys have proven over and over that they should just be playing music and someone else should be running their business affairs.
No one seems to understand this and so the prevailing feeling is well just support them whatever they want to do as you posted.
Well you did and the decisions you all supported led them here.
As far as what needs to happen now?
Prayer is your best answer.

Leith I don\'t disagree with the premise of that thread. In fact you often say smart things and you have turned out to be right in the past many times. I guess the "enjoy watching a great band die a slow death" comment just cut deep. I for one am not ready to give up on this band. It seems like more and more folks around here already have. p.s. i think we all have reached that consensus (including the band themselves) that someone else should be doing the business side of things. the problem is (and has been for a long time) finding those people and getting them interested in the band. It just seems like there are no competant managers/booking agents/promoters out there who want to be involved in The Breakfast and the band can\'t afford to pay anyone to do that shit at this point anyways. On a happier note, I heard some of the rough draft of Adrian\'s solo album last night and let me tell you, this shit is going to fucking pwn everyone who hears it.
-

Yeah, I mean it is only their band. Maybe we should have them declared incompetent in business affairs and take over the management through legal means.

Granted the intent is to slam the fans but this is the closest I have ever seen Leith come to laying the blame for the band\'s limited success on the band itself. Has Hell frozen over?

I\'ve never posted all of my true feelings on how they handled moe.down and certain things they could have taken advantage of directly after the Jammy but that\'s def. old news and has no real bearing on now.
So Hell is still doing just fine I\'m sure.

Shit! Haven\'t checked in for a few days and I see this news. Can\'t say I didn\'t see it coming, but even so, seeing Adrian have to lay that on us, has ruined my weekend, week, month and possibly year. Gotta hope something turns up soon.
My vote for a fundraiser goes to the "fans fund the next album up front" method, like the Strawbs have just done with their new album out in July. Everyone pays $30 up front in return for a credit on the new album when it comes out. If only 100 fans did it (or the less brassic could do two donations), that would clear $3000. In addition, somebody with the right connections could get a decent campaign going on jambands etc and you might find bigger investors or the raised profile might land the band a big support slot. Cheap and tacky tactic I know, but why not - if it works...
In the meantime, you guys make the most of the best band around as long as it lasts.

100 @ $30 = win/win!! Access to a new album and/or some killer live video on DVD - past and fairly current.

in all honesty, i think the name change at the "peak" of their popularity hurt. i get why they did it, just bad timing. but ill continue to support these dudes in whatever they want to do, even if that is breaking up the band and persueing other interests. these guys have provided me with some of the best musical moments of my life. i was trying to tell a friend the other day why the breakfast is so great. the jams are so tight and just build and build until i reach musical euphoria and lose my mind. i catch myself looking around and looking to everyone like "is this really happening right now".
just got really nostalgic there....bottom line i wont ever stop rooting for the breakfast

I especially agree with "is this happening right now?"

i wonder how big the guest list is to Toads. i bet its like 15deep or so....
Doesn\'t everyone understand they can\'t and should not be doing a guest list as things stand now!!! If your on the guest list how about requesting to get off the guest list and pay up (or better yet - stay on the guest list and give the ticket price directly to the band)! We all know they are good fellas and would put most of us fans on the guest list every show if they could... BUT NOW\'S NOT THE TIME!! Hopefully in the future things will change but for now pay the ticket price to help out the band... EVERYONE PLEASE!

I would certainly be willing to pay higher ticket prices to see this band. How about making some dvd\'s out of select concert footage and selling those at the merch table? I\'ll gladly help out in any way I can. Bake sale?
-
Bake sale?
 Leith\'s brownies would be great! ;)

If people really want to help this band out, it is very simple, BUY MERCH! AND GO TO SHOWS.
Dont say you want to help and then bitch about paying 70 bucks for a ticket to a late night set. Does the Breakfast EVER make you feel that you didnt get your money\'s worth?
-
todd/robyn - i still owe you $15 for the t-shirt from southbridge. i\'ll give it to you at fenway :)

I love it when she\'s sassy.

Personally, the band deserves to move in any direction they want without you fans dictating what they should be.
Stop being selfish and think that maybe Tim and Adrian and Chris might be better doing something on their own at this time.
Until people start pushing promotion of this band they will fail.
If you think differently, you have no idea about advertising.
You can have the greatest product in the world but if no one knows about it and it sits on the shelf, what is the use?

Well, I would if I could...
Andy\'s Current (Distance is no problem) Breakfast Merch Inventory:
All albums, except for first only as a CDR. It was always out-of-stock on the website and I still haven\'t managed to track down a copy, even second hand (anyone?). Unfortunately this is now scratched and jumps like hell :(
2003 Funky Bill\'s Circus Tour shirt
2004 Light BLue/Orange Breakfast Tee
Are you ser? shirt
Save Side Tee
Green and gold Breakfast tee
Two signed posters from FF5 and 2003/12/31
What else am I missing? (Don\'t mention the RR shirt - ordered one from .net and then it never came. At least I didn\'t get billed though)

The original album is on iTunes. And you gotta get yourself a Rufus shirt. Apparenlty there are some new shirts with a cassette tape on it too... looks ser

I don\'t know if there is much I can do outside of paying ticket prices and buying merch...but I have just recently fallen in love with this band and if there is any promotion etc. I can do I would be more than willing to stand outside of shows and pump fliers into peoples hands. I would hate to not see this band as much as humanly possible.
Point me in the direction of how to help and you can bet your asses I will.

Get your east side crew to rage Harpers after Phenway dude! And the Breakfast + U-Melt boat thing. Y\'all got family waitin for you :)

I plan on bringing at least a crew of 5-8 people over to Harpers if I can...as for the boat thing, I will have to talk people in to seeing U-Melt haha
Hopefully I can talk them all into buying merch too...they have deeper pockets than I do, that\'s for sure :D
Edit: I\'ve been pumping out invites on Facebook etc. and word of mouth but I would kill for some fliers. Does anyone know of anyplace I can get my hands on some?
-
Last I checked you can email Karly Sue Peters @
karlysue16 @ gmail.com (no spaces obviously)
And tell her you wanna work Boston area street team, she\'ll send you probably more fliers and shit than you\'ll ever need :D
-
I just tossed her an e-mail...I\'m working on getting on the "Rock On!" street team as well so I can get some info out on the cruise show as well.

-
Chris the fact that you put that in quotes makes me wonder wtf you are talking about even more..... u setting up a fund man?
-
Yes! Lets do this.
Can someone please pm me or something on how to start this? I will get the ball rolling. I have a little bit of bread to get this started.
-
I was going to program a widget we can stick here.... Like above stats or Lil\' Joe on the side (or below, but you get the idea) and call it the Doughboy Foundation. You should be able to pay with paypal, mail-ins, and a secure credit card gateway through Authorize.net , which fortunately my company is already partnered with so we wouldn\'t get hosed. Donations could be anonymous or we could even track statistics like which state has donated how much... a little healthy competition eh?
Sorta just been waiting for the band to answer my emails and give me the go-ahead. HEY THATGUY TMN8R SEQUIA and CHRISLIKESBASS!!!
Wake and bake guys!! So can I move forward on getting this done or no?
Srsly on the verge of just doing it anyway but this is going to take me time and cost me a little money (not too bad) to set up. So obviously not something I need to do if they don\'t even want it. But, yeah, somebody say the word and the ball gets rollin on this asap.
-
Doughboy foundation sounds like a great idea. If the boys will let you put a link on the .info site, that would be great! Not sure what legal hoops should be jumped through to make sure the dough gets to the boys.
-
pfft. weak sauce, guys. no offense, but i don\'t really think that $1 or even $5, $10 donations will really be what this band needs to "make it." Just bring people to shows & do what you can to see as many shows as you can! I think you\'d get more for your $$ doing that.
-
WAKE UP Free SPIRIT!!!

$30,000 in debt divided by the maybe 100 or so fans on .info = $300 donation by each person.
Bringing people to the shows, so that this band will get booked at a venue again and paid big bucks? = Priceless.
Don\'t get me wrong, Ken, I think it\'s great that everyone wants to help out. But I really think that it will take more than just a few small donations being sent out to get this band much better off than it currently is.
Besides, just think about how many people have made donations to dave on .info in the past year, and how much has it helped this site out?! :duck:
-
$30,000 in debt divided by the maybe 100 or so fans on .info = $300 donation by each person.
Let\'s fuckin\' do this.
$300 a person is doable for most I would guess. Band just has do something ser in return for writing off the lingering debts....like play a 4-day festival for the 100 of us.
-
Yes, it will take more than a few small donations to help out, but it is an important piece of the puzzle. I think that this along with going to shows and buying merch will go a long way.
Its a labor of love. We all love what the guys do and they love what they do and bust their asses and labor for this love. We can make this work.
A donation has been made in your name to the Human Fund, er...., I mean, to the Doughboy Foundation.
-

that would be zero, so seriously get a fucking clue before you open your mouth about shit you know nothing about.
-
sofahkin\' owned!
as much as i feel for the band being in debt. what percentage of breakfast fans are still paying off college loans at over 30K? what percentage of the rest of us are always in debt in some form or another? we\'re all in the hole, and we\'ve been managing to pay to travel to see the band and buy tix and what have you. i don\'t expect a check to arrive in the mail anytime soon to help me out of the hole.

Exactly, besides student loans....how about a mortgage (still owe like $230,000 on this lovely home....), car payments (still owe like $10,000 on the jeep), wedding (paying off $10,000 credit union loan hopefully as soon as people hand me envelopes)? I am in debt up to my eyeballs right now and no one is bailing me out except me, myself, and I...and that man that lives with me who I see occassionally and works a lot.
I think everyone at our age is in huge debt. if you aren\'t, then god fucking bless.
Donations aren\'t the key. Its promotion and getting new people at shows, solo gigs, whatever. Selling out local shows.

We Have A Real Debate Going On Here!
The Band Members Should Let Us Know What They Would Like To Be Done.
It\'s Their Band & They Should Have The Final Word On This Issue!
-
I agree, even if we tried donations that will only go so far......we need to help promote the band as much as possible, plant the seed that is the breakfast and do what we can to make it grow.
-
We Have A Real Debate Going On Here!
The Band Members Should Let Us Know What They Would Like To Be Done.
It\'s Their Band & They Should Have The Final Word On This Issue!
It is their band.
They should be doing something.
The success and failure of this band is ultimately on their shoulders.
I have my own issues and challenges to deal with.
It is not my responsibility to make sure this band succeeds.
It is theirs.
When the lack of care and enthusiasm is shown at the top it shows at the bottom.
And then people wonder why in CT they can\'t get people off their message board to attend shows.
-
Donations could have been set up, still could. Although I have less time and resources available currently than I did when I suggested the idea. Nobody contacted me to get it done though, and I doubt Dave wants to put any effort into adding a module to the site at the moment.
So I guess I\'ll just keep going to shows and encouraging others to come along for now.
Spacey is mostly right, although I do put a great deal of the blame on the musical ignorance of the masses. The fact is the majority of people simply don\'t enjoy maxed-out instrumentation ... in other words The Breakfast\'s music simply isn\'t easy to listen to for the average idiot. I\'m sure it took many of the fans here several shows before it really clicked. But once you get it... boy do you fuckin get it. These guys are musical geniuses. Unfortunately for the state of humanity, Lil\' Wayne has probably 50,000x as many people in his fanbase.
No doubt if everyone grew up listening to Phish, Zappa, Dead, etc the band would be highly successful. Yet we are a minority in this society. And it doesn\'t help that fans of those bands are mostly unaware of the existence of The Breakfast.
It\'s definitely a niche audience that can even tolerate The Breakfast, let alone become so absorbed and in tune with the music that it rocks our souls. A tough sell, indeed. I\'m just glad they haven\'t sold out one single bit.

Freddie, are you trying to stir up trouble?
-
not at all ken.
well,i dont know actually.
the only thing i have to say about this is..most of us arent in any sorta financial situation to be giving money for jackshit..some of us have kids to worry about.
the reason the band is in the situation they are in is a wicked combination of bad luck, horrific decision-making and pure laziness..
-
It really didn\'t take listening to the band a few times in order to hook me. That first time at Club Caroline I knew it would be a lifelong love. I think you either appreciate their talent or you don\'t, or cannot for some reason identify with jamming.
I\'m happy to say that I\'ll be seeing them play out at least 4-5 in the next month. Sometimes you have to say, (and this is urged with special caution, imho) "Fuck National Grid, I need me some Breakfast this month!"
-
People can\'t give what they don\'t have. That\'s O.K.
I\'m still not sure about mistakes we make in life.
What we think are our mistakes, may be just our learning and growth process in life.
We dwell on what we think we did wrong, but on some other level maybe it wasn\'t a mistake.
Life isn\'t so cut and dry.
Will everything go smoothly along in life all the time?
If it did, there would be no personal growth.
The Breakfast like anything else in life, involves choices and errors.
You people are always dwelling on the past and how it was and how it should be.
You\'re missing the present!
The music has a great maturity to it now, which only came about due to the
life process behind it.
If everything was sweet and cozy along the way,the musicians wouldn\'t have
developed into what is happening on stage today.
Our material stability in life doesn\'t really mean much as to who we are as human beings.
The Breakfast musicians were NEVER lazy!
They always worked hard and played hard all along the way.
This quality will always be their success as musicians!
-
Billy May is cheering you on Ken...
-
ken,no offense but you know jackshit about this subject..
-
Well, fill me in then. What am I missing on this subject?
-
Best Ken post ever. Freddie smoke a bowl and read that again. Genius.
-

they certainly do play their hearts out on stage, but how about a new song or two?
-
when it comes to dreams, nothing is too far out of reach

Change is the game, the game is to change
So don\'t you ever be the same
The nature of life is to always be free
Make Question Mark And The Mind a reality
Hey all these signs what are they saying to me
That the status quo is dangerous, don\'t believe all you read
Go out of your game and play all around
The globe is a playpen for inquiring minds now
Conclusion or not, many ideas yes
Fusion is what I want, fusion is best
Absorbing lots of information don\'t forget to give
Energy is everything and sharing is to live
Inform the young, inform the old and you
May Question Mark And The Mind be a line
To pursue....
To pursue....
To pursue.
-
Ahh, Question Mark, please bring this one back guys.

This band is an object lesson that being a successful musician takes more than playing great music.
You people are stuck on a worldly view of success.
Sad but true, there really isn\'t a "making it" in any of the arts anymore.
The few that do are less than the lottery winners.
There is something sick in people\'s minds, that if you don\'t draw big crowds and make lots of money, you were a failure.
That\'s what this Obsession600 quote implies.
We need to shift our values away from materialism and egotism.
-

Yes, but when a band slows down the tour machine because it loses money when it plays outside of a set area, money does come into play. These guys are no longer responsibility free. Sound business decisions are a necessity. Long Live TB!

TRUTH: On stage.. NEVER LAZY
OFF STAGE.... if you know you know
Everything else said by Tuna and Ken among others.. right on!!

while i agree with ken in general, last time i tried to pay rent in egolessness, my landlord didn\'t take too kindly to it.

Try trading rent for free Breakfast shows, for your landlord!

My post was meant to be a blank canvas for people to paint their opinions on.
What is your definition of success as a musician?
Do you feel the Breakfast is successful by your definition?
Do you think the band considers themselves successful?
Do you think the band\'s aspirations for success have changed over the years?
Ultimately it is a very personal issue that an artist has to address in order to gain fulfillment and happiness.
-
Do you feel the Breakfast is successful by your definition?
They make me joyful when I am listening to their music. Artistically, it is/was pushing itself, and me as the consumer of the art, to listen to music in a new way; to hear something I haven\'t heard before and to experince something I can\'t, or don\'t, experince in every day life.
So, in my definition, they are extremely successful.
Unfortunately the world in which we live does not operate on the trading of units of joy.
-
Unfortunately the world in which we live does not operate on the trading of units of joy.
Fortunately you can trade units of joy in Gamehenge.
-
Yeah, at some point someone always tends to want some money in exchange for giving you a joy unit. That is why I always offer the ladies my "joy unit" for free. :)
-
What is your definition of success as a musician?
Having incredibly hot groupies have to make it through stage hands, bouncers, and the bass/drum/keys player before they can get to fuck the guitar player (switch up the order if you play drums bass or keys..). That and kids giving you really pure drugs for free just so they can say they did on Phantasy Tour like 10 years later. And a million dollar per album contract.
Do you feel the Breakfast is successful by your definition?
I don\'t feel. I just act.
Do you think the band considers themselves successful?
Successfully awesome at music, no doubt. Hopefully happy with their chosen path in life.
Do you think the band\'s aspirations for success have changed over the years?
I don\'t really know but I\'m sure they\'ve come to accept certain facts of life. I do know that they seem to be having as much fun on stage as ever. As long as they don\'t get totally shafted on a time slot or something.
In retrospect I don\'t think my reply really had any point. But I already wrote it so here I go clicking the button..

Success as a musician:
Practising 400 hours on new material and then performing it.
Nobody claps and puts Skynyrd on the juke box.
Without a flinch you buy them a beer.
The most sexiest girl you\'ve ever seen wants to have a private party with you for two days.
You say,"Sorry lady I don\'t have time,I have to help my drummer pack up."
You drive four hours to play a gig for $300.
When you get there another band is setting up.
You ask the club owner,"What\'s going on here?"
He says\'"Oh sorry, I thought you guys were playing next week.Come back next week."
Without an argument you come back the next week.
You spend two years writing and recording a CD.
You finally finish it and give it to your mom.
She plays it and says,"When are you getting a real job?"
You play a gig at a bar.
Nobody notices you\'re in the room playing your heart out.
$2 in the tip jar.
When packing up an old drunk comes up to you and says,"You were so good, I didn\'t run home to watch the Yankee game!"
You leave feeling it was a good night.
