Title: Sat. 11/25/06 - Knitting Factory; New York, NY
Post by: Whineberg on September 29, 2006, 01:59:04 pm
This is the same night as The Biscuits at the Hammerstein Ballroom. It says that The Breakfast is playing at 7:00, and that a different band is playing Post-Biscuits at midnight. Say it ain\'t so, Timmy.....Say it ain\'t so!!!!!!!!!

that\'d be early.

so the breakfast are no following around the biscuits?

is this a Walsh dream?

^^that\'s exactly what I was gonna say, why all these gigs in town with the biscuits?

its a good idea, if the gigs were scheduled with better times.

post-bisco would be ideal because those fans can and will rage.

Post by: Igziabeher on September 29, 2006, 02:51:16 pm
thats fucking gay.  there\'s gotta be a million other venues in nyc, can\'t play coda at midnight again?
Title: Knitting Factory; New York, NY
Post by: Me! on September 29, 2006, 02:59:24 pm
Please no , don\'t play the CODA again.  No thanks for a venue that was rude to the band, and had no interest in promotions
Title: Knitting Factory; New York, NY
Post by: Igziabeher on September 29, 2006, 03:01:18 pm
well, i\'d rather them deal w/ some rudeboys and get some heads in the crowd at a proper hour instead of playing at 7 pm to the early dinner crowd.

no one can go to the show if no on knows about it, there wasn\'t even a poster in the window.  If you showed up that night there was no way to know the guys were playing unless you were a .info regular.

don\'t listen to me I hate NYC, I\'m sick of all the hootenany that\'s attached to it.  The Knit is the only venue in the city I even remotely like, since the road shut down.
Title: Knitting Factory; New York, NY
Post by: Igziabeher on September 29, 2006, 03:11:00 pm
Oh I totally agree w/ you there.  I avoid that city like the plague.  def won\'t be there regardless, but am just miffed by this happy hour nonsense.  what is this, timmy tour?
Title: Knitting Factory; New York, NY
Post by: Jim Cobb on September 29, 2006, 03:23:06 pm
too bad because this will be one day before the 2 year anniversary of my 1st bfast show which happened to be at the knitting factory (11/26/04).

If it is really this early then i see 2 good points. 1) we can all take the train in and out w/o worrying about getting stuck in the city. 2) we could have a Keg party at my place after the show. the train is 2 blocks from my Apt.
Title: Knitting Factory; New York, NY

^^careful man, you could be bringing some rediculousness upon yourself,

train in and out is the best sounding thing about this time slot. i have a buddy that lives in Manhatten i haven\'t hung out with in forever, maybe i\'ll actually have a chance to visit him

That sounds pretty rediculous.  Even if most places do nothing else, they at least display their schedule of events.

eff the coda and eff creative entertainment group.  howie schnee actually suggested to the lady that books us at the knit that she not book us anymore because we had a so-so turnout at a shitty timeslot at the lions den like two years ago.

It\'s too bad they have such a tough time garnering a decent crowd in a city with 8 million (and an additional 10+ in the vicinity).  Is the music scene too congested and fragmented in NYC?

Maybe they should try for more opening gigs when major bands play at major venues.
Title: Knitting Factory; New York, NY
Post by: Spacey on September 29, 2006, 04:00:02 pm
Doesn\'t Creative Management run Lions Den, Knitting Factory, CODA amongst others?

CODA did have "tour cards" that mentioned the Breakfast playing amongst 80 other bands. There were no visible posters. CODA is also located on a scretch where there is no other night life, so unlike some of the other venues, you pick no stragglers up and no is walking by, so who really knows CODA exists behind the scaffolding.

The last CODA experience sucked. If upstate didn\'t already have his lights up, they would have NEVER allowed the lights to be up because it wasn\'t in the contract, they also made the band adhere to the 2 1-hour sets.

CEG does most of the booking at lions den and coda, but only a couple of here and there shows at the knit.

i\'m down to pass out flyers for this show. there should be an easy map on the backside of those flyers from that show to the Breakfast show.....

Finally some pre thought into timing and taking advantage of whats going on around. Applause go out to whom ever pulled this one off, you will not be dissappointed.
