let\'s just get this out there now, while i\'m nice and pissed off about it...

my laptop took a hard bump right before The Chase. blue screen/reboot. while panicing to get the recording going again, i accidentally hit \'Recover\' in Sound Forge (which you NEVER want to do), which basically wiped out everything i had to that point. so all i have is the last 13 minutes of set 1 (and hopefully the rest of the show).

fuckin\' a.

sorry to hear about that Dave. It sounds like you are the only taper.

I already heard Matt play most of the songs in the first set anyways, haven\'t heard DMB.

Speaking of which, 22 songs have been played with Matt and 46 songs not played (only originals and not counting Kote, Beer Jubilee, Funk-A, Gypsy Girl, Prom \'97 and Za).

There are so many tunes they haven\'t even touched yet. This is good to be good.

the puppetry was insane. apparently adrian called it the best one they\'ve ever played. may fly was my call for the second set opener and was def the highlight of the night for me. can\'t wait to hear this one again. hlh > rufus kept the energy from may fly flowing nicely. jam > buquebus felt like it would go on forever. cool switch up for the encore, matt can really shred a guitar. hot for teacher was a crowd pleaser and a fun choice to close out the night.

this was my first time seeing matt and i was blown away. his stage presence really keeps the overall energy of the show at a high level both on the stage and in the crowd. i can\'t wait for the upstate ny run in 3 weeks. hopefully i can sneak out to CT for one of the sunday afternoon acoustic shows before then.

i was really miserable after it happened, until they played may fly. knowing i had that recorded took the sting away a bit.

but i\'m still pretty pissed, and i blame myself mostly, cause i should have been standing guard better (which i did for the rest of the night).. besides the fact that i KNEW about the lovely "recover" feature in sound forge, and still clicked that button.

but hey, you win some you lose some i guess.

you really should just tell your boss that there is a project out in Colorado and ask for a reimbursement of funds when you return.

it scares the absolute shit out of me to think that you can still count the shows matt has played with the breakfast on one hand, and they\'re already THIS good. it\'s just completely frightening how great they are together, and how much better he\'s made the band in such a short time. it makes me not want to miss any show in a 250-mile radius anytime soon.

i spent over 7 hours driving yesterday and i slept 2 hours before i started work this morning. i\'m beat right now, but i would do it again in a heartbeat. honestly, i can\'t even believe now that there was a (self) debate about my attendance at this show.

first set seemed like a bit of a warm up at the beginning, but it really kicked into gear with an incredible Puppetry. WUIAC was great as well, don\'t get me wrong. matt\'s key solo before The Chase was smooth and mellow, and it\'s GREAT to hear The Chase with keys again. DMB was LOUD and rockin\', and was a great way to close out the first of the three sets.

second set is when things really started to go to another level. just look at the setlist, for starters. no messing around to start to set - they just launched right into MFD. and as i said earlier, it was easily the best MFD ever played (a sentiment that was pretty well agreed upon by long time fans in attendance), clocking in at close to 23 minutes, and launching into a Matt-led jazz jam that was completely unique to any Breakfast jam i\'ve ever heard.

Good Things was a good breather before the hard-hitters that followed. Harry and Rufus were both quite monsterous (i\'d put the Harry above the Rufus), and a perfectly placed, rocking Surreal Radio to close it out. Colin came up to me during Surreal Radio and asked me why people don\'t like the song. i just shook my head and said i have no idea. it\'s definitely a perfect set closer.

Rainbow took the stage towards the end of the second setbreak, and played/sang a song that could have no other title than "AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH". it was interesting, to say the least.

Tom Sawyer was an unexpected opener for the third set. good placement, but a little rusty. no worries with the monster (go figure) Buquebus that followed. i was curious if Matt\'s synth part in the intro from Camp Bisco would pop up, but it didn\'t. after Buquebus, Tim was talking about Utica, and asked Matt how much he loved Utica. this launched the weird \'Utica jam\', which kicked into a very unique version of Gravity. Gravity featured Adrian playing on upstate\'s light stand behind him quite a bit, some monk-like chants from Matt in the middle, some intense Ron/Tim face-to-face rocking, and finished up with Tim shredding the guitar behind his head. while the set itself was somewhat short in length, Gravity finished quite ferociously, and was a great way to cap off the set.

i went into the green room during the encore break, and overheard the guys discussing what to play, and asking Matt if he wanted to play The Vermont Song....... ON GUITAR!! you\'ve GOT to be kidding me! i know it\'s not some epic composition, but he hasn\'t even played it on keys yet! awesome.

Adrian went out first, and i really like the Drum Solo to start the encore. the guys came out during his solo, and launched into a short jam before going into The Vermont Song. Tim had a pretty ripping keyboard solo, and Matt was shredding the SG in his solo! both of them looked like they were having an absolute blast on each other\'s instruments. finally, say what you will about Hot For Teacher, but it got everyone in the place in front of the stage at the end of the night, and people were loving it.

all in all, an incredible show. the only thing that i was unimpressed by was the attendance. BFAM numbers were strong, and it was great to see so many of us from all over in one place. but i really expected the place to be a LOT more packed than it was. speaking of which, Klout - where the hell were you?

i was talking to leith after the show, and we were all smiles. i told him i wanted him to let me know when he got home, what he thought was the better show of the weekend (b\'fast or TLG). he just smiled and said, "i already know the answer".

peaches knows what he\'s talking about. it\'s a great time to be a breakfast fan.

I\'m def. not one to use any "best evers" when it comes to music...but...this night of music was def. in my top 10 musical experiences of my lifetime! And, like Dave said, this band is only just beginning.
By the time WUIAC came around I knew that magical things were in the works. I realize that they got a couple of practice sessions between last weekend and last night...but, wow, what a difference. I loved the new organ intro into The Chase! The first set had me giggling like a little school girl. The second set had my jaw on the floor and my cheeks on the ceiling. My face still hurts from smiling so much. I loved the jazz jam in MFD. I had been looking forward to Hard Luck all week and it didn\'t disappoint at all. And yes, Surreal has grown on me.
After a Cali style setbreak with Leith, I was all geared up for third set. The crazy opening jam to Buquebus absolutely floored me. I was not expecting that! I was laughing out loud by this point. It was also funny, after Tim was talking with Matt about Utica, when Tim said to Matt "you want to do the Utica intro?". Ron, with a puzzled and sincere look on his face says "I don\'t know the Utica intro" a couple of times. Tim ignores him and starts this weird jam with Matt. Ron and Adrian look at each other and shrug their shoulders. Adrian then proceeds to let out a yelp and then start playing Upstate\'s scaffolding as Ron stood there confused. Eventually they all joined together in a crazy as hell Gravity.
Seeing Matt play guitar was stunning...who knew?

Absolutely great time in Utica!! And like Dave also said, to think I was on the fence about going last night. Thanks Dave for pushing me in the right direction!

Yes. Yes. Yes. and Yes please, I\'ll have some more.

Great reviews up there ^.  Not too much to expand on except I pretty much agree with everything stated.  For me the show is all bout Mayfly.  Wow. Totally different jam. Never heard a breakfast jam like that, and it\'s certainly all thanks to Matt.  It looked like it came to Matt\'s turn to solo and he just said, "Thanks guys,  but I\'d like to jazz this one out a bit if you don\'t mind...".  Keys take control for a while, and the jam just builds and Builds and BUILDS!!!  All of a sudden tim and matt are trading licks back and forth like , "Oh no, you didn\'t!" (as taintface put it)  From there, things just accelerate to an allout funk fest! wooooo wee!

Buquebus, Gravity, Hard Luck, Rufus were all top notch.  I think I\'ll take this queeb over camp bisco pretty easily.  The drunk monk is definitely very happy the keys are back full time.  Matt put a bit of a new sound to Vermont song on the geet-fiddle, and he played it quite well, throwin down a ser solo.  All persons were definitely in shock.  People love Hot For Teacher, and everyone was gettin down, and the band was obviously havin a lot of fun on stage, with Ronnie assuming every classic arena rock out pose in the book (head banging with foot on the monitor was my favorite), tim shredding behind his head, and matt fallin around all over.  Me, however, would like to hear any other cover they play (except that fuckin cheech and chong song.)

Bfam was in the house, and Leith, it was nice to finally meet you.  Thank god your a thousand times cooler in real life than on the internet.  Good luck on Kelly Clarkson tour.

It\'s a good time to be breakfast fan fa shooooo

I refuse to compare. "There is no better only different" to quote one Tim Palmieri.

But really this show was the best Breakfast show I have heard in person or disc in at least 2 years. It is incredible the difference in this band with the addition of Matt. I told my best friend Kevin who just does not get The Breakfast he will now. It is going to be a different ride from here on. No Offense to Jordan whatsoever but the potential of this band can now be realized to it\'s fullest extent. Matt is just that good. Tim is going to have to actually step up to keep up with this guy once he figures out the rest of the catalog. Ser Matt can run circles around many folk I suspect and is holding back until he is more comfortable. Oh and if this is his holding back BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Matt brings a stage presence that the other guys have no choice but to drink it in and go with it. I have not seen Ron as animated as he was and Tim playing his guitar upside down AND then behind his back is a direct reflection of Matt\'s energy. I talked with Matt before the show and welcomed him. After the show I again began to get all up in his jock and could not shut up about how awesome it was that he was in the band. He mentioned that he really liked my energy in the front row and I told him it was all his fault as he just got me going and going. We locked in a few times during the show and drove each other to further madness. It is this type of interaction with fans that make folk take notice. Tim has always been cognizant of the crowd and has been known to interact through a whole show but I have never seen it at the level that Matt brings it to.

This band will make people take notice they will have no choice. Any Breakfast detractors will be singing a new tune very soon. I am soooooooooooooooooo happy to have that feeling again of "How the hell can I get to the next Breakfast show."

Now that that is out of the way (a more detailed review is forthcoming in the review section), TLG absolutely kicked ass. The big difference in the shows was the crowd. The energy at The Breakfast show was all from the stage with a few front row ragers.

TLG was sold out and the place was on fire. From the front to the back dancing fools and the sing alongs were noticeable. Cute chicks getting down and dancing like its no one\'s business. I will not say one was better than the other but for many of you on here the crowd makes a show for you and if you liked both bands as I do you would most likely say TLG was the better show. Really.

Get your grill outta Matt\'s jock and admit TLG\'s snoozefest didn\'t even compare to Utica.

You Tube- Good Things.
Sound is fuzzy but some of it is good. Actually the end has a pretty killer still shot of Tim wailing. Check It!

Yeah you just have to turn it down or equalize it and turn it down and forward towards the end but when Tim is playing right at the camera at the end it was just to sweet to pass up posting.
