They changed their name to the breakfast to get around their record contract. They owe there label alot of money because they had to take a loan from them a couple of years ago because their van and equipment was stolen."
What?? How can changing a band name get you out of a legal contract? That\'s a ridiculous statement. They changed the name of their band because simply put, Psychedelic Breakfast is a horrible name.
oh how the rumors fly...

this should be fun, everytime I mention PB over there someone always turns it around to how the lyrics suck, does no one pay attention to the music anymore?
-
ha, people on a PHISH site complaining about pb\'s lyrics being bad... hmmm
-
eh, just reread my post over there ot get the discussion restarted, i feel like freddie. . . insance, what a word. . .
-
I\'m noticed that not too many people with adequate exposure to both bands are participating in this discussion. Having only seen RAQ once, I\'ll do what most of these people should be doing and leave the soap box open for people who know what they are talking about...
-
All I can say is...I think RAQ brings nothing new or fresh to the genre. They sound like a JAB to me... just another jamband. We don\'t need any more of those.
-
I like PB or The Breakfast and I like RAQ. Both bands are different but have similarities. I enjoy when the two bands play together.
I so what if the subject matter of a song is light hearted. DOes everything have t be deep and thought provoking all the time. Hell Led Zeppelin ( who many of us like) most of their tunes are about Girlfriends and etc does that make it any less then say Michael Franti ?
PB got tagged a s a Phish "sound-alike" a long time ago. The people who make that claim don\'t listen to the music (of PB) or the direction they are moving in.
I don\'t follow RAQ as much but they have always been a fun band and I LOVE their song Sweet Cream Butter
-
mike i sgree with ya i like raq too.stoops is the man..i also love when they ar on the same bill.great show all around.i gotta admit, raq does sound alot more like the those other dudes from vermont than breakfast everdid!
-
PB has the backing and some "SER" connections and loyal fans!! Not to mention a grassroots team that is second to none. RAQ is a Phish ripoff IMO, not really a fan. They have alot more onnections though. You know what we have, LOYALITY!!!!!! We love this band and travel all over to see them!!!!
-
Everyone on that site were a-holes, Say who you think is better and why, you don\'t have to totally bash the other, also I agree with Joc, how can people on a Phish site make complaitns about lyrics?!?!?!?!
-
Well, at least RAQ plays "Cheap Sunglasses"...
-
It doesn\'t get much more perfect than
"It\'s the great big fiery ball in the sky.....!!"
-
I like Raq, they changed their sound a lot. When PB first played with them, I thought Raq sounded more like Phish than Phish. Trey gave Stoops their guitar player a guitar, so the legend was that Trey said to him "Here, now you can sound exactly like me." However, Raq has developed their sound a great deal and puts together some sweet jams. Their manager is the guy who built Strangefolk from the ground up, so they\'ve gotten as big as PB in half the time. He is really cool and a lighting pro, when we played with Raq in San Francisco in summer 2002 he was nice enough to show me some cool light tricks. The guys in the band are great, they arer very similar to Tim, Ron, Ad and Jordan. Come to think of it, they shortened their name too! Used to be Shadraq. We could start some rumours about that! Raq is cool.
