WTF?

I will never miss a show I said I am going to. I can\'t believe that I missed this show. This is definitely one for the ages.  Best setlist I have seen this year. Filled with a lot of fun little treats. What a way to end the Real Radio tour for the boys. This weekend AKA NY Run will probably be the best string of shows for them. Headlining the Sterling Stage tonight then off to Strange Creek, OMG, I am envious of all those going.

We hope that Porter\'s will own our faces.

I actually have 2 tickets to the Sterling Stage Folkfest tonight. I unfortunately have obligations to my friend DerickW and his soon to be wed wife. If I don\'t hear from them pretty soon. I may take my last couple of bucks thrown into the gas and get out of dodge. The wedding is at 6 tomorrow. But, I have been warned not to leave the state for the weekend.

Wah,

You definitely going to be down at DSO on Sunday? The hotel where the after wedding party is, is right around the corner. I am going to come down and hit it up with flyers as the show is getting out. Not sure what time that will be but, the wedding ends at 11pm. Monday, I might do the same because I have nothing else to do.

well we got there at like 9, there was no one at the door takin money, and i didn\'t even realize we didn\'t pay. i have no problem paying for the breakfast, so it wasn\'t like i was trying not to. but then durin set break, we were goin back to our spot and the guy asked for bracelets and none of my friends had any, so i had no idea what they were talkign about. he was a super asshole, not explaining anything and then he said i could stay but i had two friends w/ me and he said they couldn\'t. they didn\'t have their IDs on em, they were in my car and he wouldn\'t even let em bring em up to him to stay. he like pushed my one friend and took her beer and was so mean and rude to us.
but i mean, i got to see first set, i had a blast, just wish it didn\'t have to end that way.

What a tremendous time!!!!

Before the show, we ate in the dining room of the castle.  Great food!!  It was a little on the expensive side but well worth it.

The show was outside in this barn type thing.....great atmosphere!!

The first set was amazing.  The HLH, cut me some slack, china cat, and beef barley jams were amazing!!!  Then we got a simpleton!!  Good Lord!!!!!!  Best set I can remember for a while.  I try so hard to not like beef barley b/c its so corny, but its amazing where they take that song whenever they play it.

The second set was full of energy.  See the Light > Mayfly!!  Pfffttt!!!  great encore as well!

It was a harrowing drive home....couldn\'t see a damn thing in the fog.....missed the 90 east exit.....sun was well up when we got back.  But we made it and I have to say it was well worth it!!!  Great music, great time, great experience!  Sorry to all those who missed it....definitely d/l this one!!

Beardslee is not about money at all, They do shows for the fun of it, its not something they rely on for money. Pay for the show next time and get a bracelet, if you missed it at the front gate you could have got one at the bar. I think Randy (the owner) was a little pissed to begin with because of the preparty in the lot. That place is an upscale restaraunt, it was kind of amusing when this older couple and a family came out to their Luxury car and Soccermomobile to see 40 college age kids drinking cheap beer.  The place is cool, as long as you pay the cover for the band then its pretty much a free for all. He told us in the lot that we can bring our beer up to the carriage house. I think the castle rules. But then again I didnt get kicked out

i didn\'t know about that i was suppose to get a bracelet until he asked me to see mine. like as we were walking back up durin set break we remembered we never paid. i wasn\'t tryin to get outta it, i even handed him 10 bucks but he gave it back and told my friends they had to leave, and i couldn\'t stay and have them not be able to. i had never been there before, but i don\'t hate it. i\'ll go back. i didn\'t even go to the bar once. i woulda been happy to pay.

I arrived at Porter\'s on 11-24-04 too early and wasn\'t charged a cover either, though I definitely contributed to the bottom line with plenty of food and alcohol purchases.

What was the story at Beardsley?  BYOB + bar or just BYOB in the parking lot?

amazing.

for some reason, a few weeks ago when i looked at this show and decided i wanted to go, i thought it was about a 1.5 hour drive from new haven. not sure exactly what i was looking at, because it\'s really a 3+ hour drive. was committed to go though, and went through with it..

after experiencing this venue last night, i can say that i won\'t ever miss another b\'fast show there ever again. and i\'d hit this place every time if it were 5 hours away.

after hearing numerous folks on here rave about the food at BC, we got there a little early and sat down to eat. the food was indeed fantastic. had my self some portabello ******** bruchetta, and shrimp & scallops over angel hair with artichoke hearts and tomatos.. SO freakin\' good. possibly the best food ever at a b\'fast venue.

the band played outside in the \'barn\' for the first time (they\'ve played inside the actual castle before).. as the night went on, i was really taken back to the days of PB playing at the Powder Hollow Barn - same kind of venue, extremely chill \'free-for-all\', and an incredible vibe. only this place had a bar inside, and a nice big campfire outside, to boot. i\'d have to say that it was impossible to NOT have a good time at this place.

the show: wow. definitely of epic proportions. ran about 3 hours total, with the first set coming in aroung 1:17, and the second set around 1:40. the opening jam and the HLH jam hit heavy out of the gates.. HLH sounded like there were about 6 different teases within, but i couldn\'t put my finger on anything for sure..

the big-ass sandwich that followed was excellent. the jam > CMSS almost sounded like a WTF jam at first, but then changed its course and went to CMSS. seemed like people were really into CSR, which is good, because one of the reasons it was shelved in the first place is because the band thinks no one likes it..

the rest of the set hit hard, with people bouncing profusely to BB.. the Batman jam was great, in honor of the band getting shit on by bats before the show. SOS/ITF - great way to close a great set!

second set\'s standouts for me were definitely the Buquebus and the LAW>ATSD. didn\'t think tim was ever gonna stop with the \'thoughts\', as i tried like hell to get whatever i could into my cell phone.. the FFT>Dig segue is beyone predictable at this point, so that was kind of a letdown.. but if that\'s my biggest complaint of the show, shit, i can deal with it.

encore was good as well. was actually pretty beat at that point (well past 2am), and was hoping for a short one.. good way to go out.

show gets an 8.98/10 from me. :)

huge thanks to mike for driving ALL the way home. was supposed to only drive half, then wake me up for the rest, but to my surprise, i woke up in Hamden, CT! :holyshit: road warrior. confirmed.

Klout - i was dying to meet you! there was a lot of \'do you know who Klout is?\' talk going around, but no one could ever say yes.. next time.. wish i coulda met some of you other upstate folks as well..

oh yeah, TRB - the bar was outta RB when we got there! and it was the combination of A-Rush and No Fear that got mikey through the entire ride home... w00t!

great seeing everyone else as well! had a pretty strong amount of CT folks in the house, and i\'m sure NO ONE regrets making this trip!

see some of you tomorrow!

got there a couple hours too early but knew the nite was going to the special when i heard the soundcheck.  thought timmy was going to write a new song there on the spot but dont know if he ever did.  my personal favorite line was during the first jam when timmy looked up and saw the ANTICAPTION sign above the line for the beer and  mutterd to the other guys if they saw it too, wish was ironic since i was anticapating this show for a week plus the 2 hrs before the show when i sat around not drinking because I wasnt planning on staying, but then decided too and just got drunk and then just passed out in my van i think.

this was one of the best shows ive seen the breakfast play in a while, ranks up there with my first time seeing them in castleton. the venue was sick and the vibe was there somewhere. im ser glad i caught this show, not sure if I\'ll be able to make it to StrangeCreek in time for the breakfast so ill probably just skip it. the windfalls are playing after b\'fast so im sure they will bring it all together, plus on the way back felt like the transmission was going to drop right out of my van, so i really dont think it will make the journey but will see. who else is going? dont know if i have the funds for a sunday tix

got a few pics with my cheap disposable camera but then I forgot I had it and didnt take any the second set.  glad to see some familar faces there hopefully I can get one of my buddies to make a trip with me to see them again, but as of right now my next show probably the rocks off the boat cruise

everytime i see this band, the experience keeps getting better and better and better....

beardslee castle was indeed no exception to this rule. i knew the 3+ hour trip filled with rainstorms and traffic jams was worth every second the instant we rolled into this venue. perfect weather, beautifully landscaped grounds full of some powerful vibes (definitely haunted), lots of heads from an array of places, and 2 sets of the breakfast. sounds ideal to me ;)

Cut Me Some Slack>LDZ>Cosmic was definitely the highlight of the first set for me...although Simpleton was a welcome surprise... didnt see In The Flesh comin at ALL though -- great way to kick off the night.

but nothing will top the set II opener: jam>See the Light> May Fly --- that room was full of some of the most intense energy i\'ve ever experienced at a breakfast show... at one point i remember having my hand on my head trying to comprehend what was happening on the stage in front of me. Buquebus>Food For Thought was another glorious chunk of Set II.

i ended up sleepin next to my car, still not sure how or when my tent got assembled, nonetheless i slept pretty well... it was perfect camping weather. mcajam\'s caravan set up camp next to us, they seemed in high spirits leavin for sterling stage...

beardslee castle has quickly become my most memorable breakfast experience. i had such an amazing time, i\'ve been inspired to haul to StrangeCreek after i\'m freed from the shackles of work tomorrow. i suggest you all follow suit ;)

Dear All Of Us :hair: and :banghead: For Missing Last Nights Show,

Don\'t be discouraged.....

But encouraged that this band is picking up a head of steam like it\'s not seen before.

There will me much more epicness to come.  confirmed.

Till Porters....

From Inertia\'s pics it looks like the band was set up on stage (left to right) Jordan,Tim/Adrian, Ron.....  Was the Sequoia/Save switcharuny due to stage limitations or just to mix things up a bit????

the bats seemed to congregate on the right side of the ceiling. since jordan has much more equipment that can be damaged, they just decided to throw ron over there and let the bats shit on him..

Hard Luck Harry opener made my fuckin night. well it made an incredible start to the weekend.  LDZ>CSR was nuts.  Nice to hear two Ron songs in a row.  Food For Thought.. well it\'s always sick, and the harmonizing was sounding tight in the carriage house.  Tim threw in a Bu-Thomas during the beginning of Buquebus for my boy Thomas- he was happier than a pig in shit to hear it.  This place is def. up there on the list of favorte venues.  Beers in the backpack Ronnie side all night long.  puffin bowls w/o a problem.  surprised nobody else really camped out- there were no more than three tents.  Klout- "was dying to meet you"- seems like the Shade Ditty Allstars have a little edge on Team Red Bull  :) andrew and hollis- thanks again for everything..

Was there any bat shitting goin on where i was by the merch???..i was right by
Jordans side and heard nothing about it... yet remember brushing off something i thought was candle wax from thoes big creepy manorah type things...if i knew they were there i would have been by the fire the whole show.confirmed.

you got kicked out for being outa line raginah. Beardslee is THE chillest place I can think of. I mean three of you try to walk in at setbreak when everyone else is outside with no braclets all underage drinking cans of budlight.....come on..........use your head.

regina, sorry to hear you got kicked out, that definitely sucks..we had no problems w/ bringing in our own beer..i definitely did not spend a penny on drinks at the bar lol..

highlight for me: definitely see the light (especially since i requested it backstage during set break)  :D

camping was a load of fun... surprised more heads weren\'t out there enjoying the beautiful starry night we had. who was that kid thomas anyway? bartender? he is quite a character.

totally worth the 4hr traffic/crazy lightning/rainy drive... definitely will be @ the next beardslee breakfast show!

Post by: Klout on June 22, 2005, 11:27:09 pm
thats funny! I had no idea you had asked tim to play that but kept yelling "Fredoooo!" and "Fredo coreleone!!!" as were a few other people in honor of ellis-d (the fredo of the TRB family) who was lit reel good that nite and very thuroughly enjoying himself. wish i had actually noticed it during the show, I seem to remember taking a piss as soon as bb came on tho...but its cool hearing it on tape! deffinitly there too...tim doesnt finish the second verse just does a little segue back into the verse of bb which is all he really has time for. awesome place for a tease if you really think about. At the very begining of the song, not somewhere in the middle of a huge jam where it would be easy to throw in.  It also goes great with the polka-ish, old skewl bb sound. very ser tease overall! you know the shit is goin when the motherfuckin don is in the house!
