One more time:
If you order the CD online, does it ship immediately, or do you have to wait until the "official" release date?

Also any chance of picking up a copy @ BAR or Sully\'s this week?
Title: CD shipping.

I do believe I am waiting until I see the band to buy this as I really do not need any more reinforcing of my love for the quartet.

I am really trying to stay open to the "new sound".

Quoted from Steffmo from the new album status thread:

"Jordan plays on most if not all the songs. He sings some back ups with an occasional feature line....line on Overexposure."

I don\'t think it\'s going to be as drastically different as you fear.
The first time I saw the current incarnation I was amazed at how much it sounds the same, in all the right ways.

Now what an idiotic way to try and prove me wrong.

Are they releasing that trio made album or the one w/ Jordan "Overdubs"?

The one w/ Jordan overdubs right? OK then Fuck Off!

I totally understand what you are getting at. I did not want to bring it up but since you did.

They are touring as a TRIO in support of an album made by a QUARTET.

People will be wondering WTF? Where was the keyboardist?

Yes imo it is stupid seeing as they knew Jordan was leaving.

They should have just left the album as Gavin mentioned it was originally as a trio album and toured behind that.
Title: Boxes...many, many ....boxes
Post by: Steffmo on September 26, 2006, 12:34:25 pm
No.  The record does NOT indicate direction as usual.  If you see the band play the songs live you will not miss the keys.  The use on the record is subtle.

Of course none of that will matter to those of you that want to grind the issue ad infinitum.

No that is ridiculous.

Think before you post. I am talking about an entire album w/ a keyboardist on near every song.

You are talking about a song on Real Radio.

Big fuckin\' leap in your logic
Title: Boxes...many, many ....boxes
Post by: Jim Cobb on September 26, 2006, 12:52:53 pm
not that i have any opinion on this matter, but horns on one track is a little different than keys on all the tracks when the keyboard player of 7+ years just left the band.

so what, lets boycott the band now for false advertisement?  the album is good, damn good.  and they did what they could to make a quality album in a timely fashion.  i\'m sure its not a cheap venture either, lets ask jimcobb what it costs to put out an album?  i\'m sure totally revamping the album because of the loss of jordan was not an option.  either way, can we be happy the album is out and be happy the band is touring w/o nitpicking every little thing?  i didn\'t think so.

tracking = money
mixing = money
mastering = money
artwork = money
pressing = money
promotion = money

total = a whole lot of friggin money.

if i quit urban fetch right now, i sure as shit wouldn\'t expect them to go back and rearrange and retrack the record after all the time and money we\'ve put into it.

No keys are not being played the same way. That is plain to hear. There is no comping going on while Tim shreds. I could go on but you probably would have no clue anyway what I was talking about.

Yet again you jump in without a clue. The album was supposedly done w/o Jordan first so why not have released that as an album since they knew in JANUARY that he was leaving?

They actually spent MORE money ADDING Jordan to the album. So go figure.

All I was saying is that I am waiting to buy the album that IS a quartet album until AFTER I go see the Trio to help keep an open mind to their "new sound". Some idiots decided that was not good enough and here we are.

Despite what folks might want to believe, there is little ill will among band members.  Jordan wanted to play on the record even though he knew he was leaving.  He knew the songs.....so why not.  We think the results were excellent.

On with it.

Jordan\'s additions to the album albeit minimal are an integral part of the album\'s sound.  Good Things wouldn\'t be Good Things w/o Jordan, same w/ The Late and the Great.

I don\'t see why you are putting restrictions to your purchase of the album, Leith.  Do you not wanna support the band if they put on a less than stellar show by buying their album?  Do you not wanna buy the album just before the show and run out to your car and listen to it real quick before seeing them, so it doesn\'t sway your perception on the show?  You\'ve heard all the songs on the album performed by the 4some before anyways, what affect is it gonna have?

You just do not get it huh? I have yet to hear anything from the trio that has hit me like before. It just hasn\'t. The Sundance>WUIAC>Sundance from 9/16 has come very very close.

That may change when I see them in person and have the actual waves of energy before me and not through my stereo.

I listen and listen to any new shows hoping that I may "get it" and so far nope.

So I am wary of reinforcing my "need" to hear keys while Tim is shredding before I see them.

I am buying it no matter what. DUH!!!!

i get it, i just see it as you coming into it w/ a pessamistic attitude.  the Sundance> Coma > Sundance was solid.  I agree.  The Utica Rufus> Puppetry was tops for me, too bad it wasn\'t taped.  I just think if you go into it w/ an open mind, I guarantee you\'ll come back here ranting and raving about how great the shows were.  Granted there may be some moments here and there where you\'ll miss Jordan, but overall I wouldn\'t be too worried.

Hey if people get riled up by my opinions or in anyway threatened by my diverse knowledge in many interests ;) that\'s their problem.

I have repeatedly posted I do not like the new set-up yes but I have also posted that I am willing to give it a chance and have been giving it a chance. Just because I do not eat up everything they do does not mean I cannot air my opinions.

If you don\'t like it put me on your ignore list I have said that for years. It\'s pretty simple.

not sure, but if you play the self titled album in windows media player the track titles and duece cover art come up. someone may have typed the info in wrong and submitted it to the database and then amazon used that.

Not the first time they\'ve done that. Remember the confusion over Gong\'s Eat That Phonebook Coda being incorrectly titled in setlists as Ooby Scooby Doomsday as aresult of an amazon cock-up?

As far as this discussion goes, I just want to hear the album and make up my own mind. IMHO there is to much ranting about an album only a select few have heard. Let\'s call a halt to this discussion till FF - at least by then, we will all have INFORMED opinions on both the disc and the way it\'s been promoted on tour.

At the rate all the "hardcore select few" are buying the album, I wonder how good the sales will be at the freakout? Many of the locals will already own a copy by the time they have the release party/freakout. This may lead to lower than expected sales that night, but not because no one wants it, only because everyone will already have a copy.

It will be interesting to see.

A new innovation is that beginning with the Chicago show the band will be carrying a new wireless credit card machine, courtesy of HMG.  Hopefully this will spur CD and merch sales as you will no longer have to decide..."CD.....or beer".

We all know what wins THAT war.

You\'re absolutely right... I don\'t even have a t-shirt for my favorite band because... um... they don\'t have any (and I never really liked the ones they used to have)!

And posters? The only poster I got is the artwork from the original album "PB"

Posters never sold well on the merch table, there would be a select few who would pick them up and then we\'d have a bunch for the rest of tour that would eventually have to be marked down to next to nothing, hence the band would lose $$ on them.  I remember finding a bunch of old posters from the first album, and the national tour in \'03(I think) that had never sold.  I have a plethora (would you say we have a plethora? no but we do have a shit load), literally my entire ceiling is covered.  I don\'t know why others aren\'t interested

I was thumbing through an ESPN shop catalog that came to my house and saw this:
http://www.espnshop.com/catalog/productdetail.cfm?TID=9062-45280612473545120960035-0&module=sports&action=searchMLBGear&supercat=MLB&model_nbr=72793&sku=13005131&league=MLB&team=Astros&cm=35001237 (http://www.espnshop.com/catalog/productdetail.cfm?TID=9062-45280612473545120960035-0&module=sports&action=searchMLBGear&supercat=MLB&model_nbr=72793&sku=13005131&league=MLB&team=Astros&cm=35001237)

I won\'t get it because I don\'t even own a real Breakfast Shirt or even a NYY shirt.  (actually those of you who know me have probably noticed I have only 5 shirts that I rotate) Still I thought it was pretty cool.

3. at the bottom of the page there a "image shack" thing that says browse click that
4. select the picture
5. click the button under the browse button ( It\'s hardley there on my comp just a sliver)
6. When the image loads copy the "direct link to image"
7. In the post click the little picture of the mountain above the "dialogue box"
8. paste in the code from image shack and click ok

Even easier, you can skip steps 1-6 above and just right click on the original image...save image location and then right click again in step 8 and paste the original url.
