** with \'Runaway Jim\' (Phish) tease
^ with Jordan on harmonica

Siiiiiick show!
-
best jam of night = mayfly, ep 2 close 2nd. yem was flawless and gorgeous. b fam pwns
-
Looks like an epic show! And with Jordan taboot? Son of a bitch!
-
Unreal! Great show! Mayfly was a top 3 version for sure. STL seemed like it went on for 30 minutes and was fucking glorious.
Some vocals were a little pitchy at times but that was I think to be expected. All the jams owned and owned hard!
Great to see everyone and great to have Jordan back even it\'s just a show or 2. Brought back some great memories and reminded me that Sequoias organ chops have never been filled!
-
Please tell me that this was recorded... Please...
-
Fitzie and Ken were both there capturing the bits and bytes.
-
A couple of setlist notes:
- "No Quarter" tease in May Fly by Jordan
- There was definitely a tease (that I couldn\'t place) in the keyboard solo preceding The Chase, I\'m sure somebody will get it from the recording
- Jordan on harmonica for VT Song
What a fantastic show! jam > May Fly might be my favorite opener, and last night proved why. It really set the tone for the rest of the night. I was a little disappointed to hear Tim sing the lead on May Fly, but was definitely appeased when Jordan started to belt out Puppetry. I\'m pretty sure everybody knew that The Chase was coming at some point last night, but it was still a top notch jam. Doughboy has never really stopped being "Jordan\'s song", and the crowd responded with the biggest reaction of the night. YEM was first for me live, and it was flawless- as was the jam into Son of Simpleton with Tim and Jordan trading riffs.
Taboo was a good call as a second set opener- a great way to get people back into the groove after setbreak. I don\'t like to throw around the term "best ever", but See the Light was definitely different than any other version I\'ve heard, in a very good way. You can add Hush to list of covers that the Breakfast plays better than the original*, Chris was laying down some great beats throughout. There\'s nothing to be said about Mooboo\'s that you haven\'t already assumed to be true: The crowd went nuts and the band rocked the fuck out. Say what you will about The Vermont Song, it certainly isn\'t going to be mistaken for a song off of The Yes Album in terms of composition, but I don\'t think anybody in attendance had a problem with it. Great jamming with Tim going nuts and Chris nailing a great bass solo.
One of two things has happened: Either Jordan got even better since leaving The Breakfast or I forgot how good he is. He was definitely a reminder to me, after hearing some recent Breakfast + Stoops and Breakfast Trio, that the band needs a full-time keyboardist. The obvious call would be to deem Jordan the MVP of the show, but, emotions aside, it really was a solid full-band effort. I know I\'ve missed some epics this year, but last night and 8/30 are my frontrunners for favorite show of the year.
* I realize that Deep Purple is not the original artist on "Hush", but at this point it\'s really only a cover for them in the sense that "Respect" is a cover for Aretha Franklin.
-
What an amazing, emotional show! Seeing Jordan play with them again and sing his songs was unreal, something I never thought would happen after he left. Doughboy and See the Light were fantastic, I definitely felt myself getting a little teary during those songs. It probably won\'t happen, but I\'m really hoping Jordan will play with them again! :)
-
now THATS a breakfast setlist...really wish i could have seen it. very refreshing to see a setlist like this, nice change of pace from the somewhat redundant recent shows
-
i had so much fun playin with jorden last night, cant wait to do it again!!!!

the kid sounded so GOOD.he\'s been practicing or something.
-
what time did this start? I saw Jordan in Hartford around 8...
-
SEQUOOOOOIIIIIAAAAAA!!! nice seein him tear it up and playing his ass off.. Doughboy, Puppetry, Mayfly...all sick as hell. Oh and See the Light did take off to another world. Goosebumps did hit me a few times thinking of the time thats passed and all the shows and what not. Adrian, you did look like you were definatley enjoyin it last nite with the smiling and watchin Jordan get nasty
-
looks sick. is the old bfast back? jordan please stay!!!!
-
It should be noted that with the exception of May Fly, Jordan sang all the songs he normally would, sharing vocals with Tim on The Chase.
It should also be noted that I felt this was basically a perfect show, the sweetest of trips down memory lane. It was great to hear a bunch of songs that are a bit lighter in rotation these days and of course to again see Jordan, who had a spectacular night. The atmosphere at this show was highly positive and rivals that of most I\'ve seen recently. There were constant smiles abound from both the band and fans.
Jam of the night for me was See The Light, but the Hush jam went on longer than I expected and was also excellent. Mooboo\'s was its usual eerily emotional self. And as someone who has never been a big fan of The Vermont Song, I do have to admit that I felt it was the absolute perfect finish, partially because it was fitting to have Jordan on vocals to close the show, and partially because it was just a nice bouncy number to end things after a ton of sick jamming.
This show is easily on the short list for the best performances by The Breakfast this year.

wow, great reviews. glad to hear it, sorry i missed it.
-
What was the scene like? Mainly .info or were there newbs abound?
Wish I could have seen Jordan last night, it has been a long time!
-
what time did this start? I saw Jordan in Hartford around 8...
no way. i got to bear and grill in fairfield at 8:15 and jordan was sitting there on a bench already.
-
help me chris, I am loosing my mind...

pitch nailed the description by saying it was perfect, cuz it really was. absolutely beautiful playing by everyone. jordan played as if he never left. nicky was almost overcome at the begining of see the light, as i\'m sure some of us also were too, she said to me like 3 or 4 times something like, "hey don\'t mind me, it\'s been a while since i\'ve seen this ya know." jordan with the breakfast was definitely something i never thought i\'d see again. just a lot of beautiful moments.
understandably the opening started off a tiny bit rusty or unsure sounding, which only lasted for a minute at the most. then i was trying to order a drink and forgot what i wanted when i heard tim start to sing mayfly, i was like, "oh no," but i guess it was ok, cuz once the shit got going i forgot all about it. don\'t even get me started on puppetry, shit. just pure magic. doughboy was spectaclar. you enjoy myself?!?!? holy shit! flawless. i got a little shaky during jordan\'s piano parts. so what. simpleton out of yem?!! seriously. i didn\'t even know what to do at that point. and yet there was another set....
set 2 opened with a serious funk jam that seemed to go in a few different directions before it set it\'s sights on taboot. pretty crazy.
seeing jordan sing see the light again was something i won\'t soon forget. i got chills. has it really been that long? sadly yes. the jam was unbelievably good, so focused, so driven and determined, then it got all fast and crazy, i really thought it was gonna go into something, but it couldn\'t have more perfectly come back to the begining. just an amazing feeling. such an emotional time. i also don\'t care for hush, but it was really fuckin\' good.
i have no idea what to say about mooboo\'s. just thinking about it makes me smile. when it came back around, before tim sang his part i almost lost my shit. insane jam.
PERFECT encore. i\'ve always thought that. jordan on harmonica, come on, man!!! just one more way toy with our emotions. but seriously as far as i\'m concerned the "colorful trees the autumn breeze blows free/peace and love surrounding me," part can go on forever....
-
Damn! I wish I knew that Jordan was playing or that I lived in CT.
-
whatta great fuckin show. Jordan has ser chops. so good to see him up there.
-
i seriously blew it on this one..
i was in the car and headed to phairphield but last minute said fuck it.
FUCK!
-
...seems to me like you fucked yourself bro, dude i was seriously lookin\' all over for you. what the hell?
-
What was the scene like? Mainly .info or were there newbs abound?
There were newbs, but they could have been there coincidentally. Bear & Grill is somewhat popular with local 20-somethings who don\'t want to go to a Fairfield U. or Sacred Heart bar. I\'m awful at these projections, but I would say that the place was at least 75% dotinfo after setbreak (midnight or thereabouts).

C\'mon Freddie, you can go to a show now and then......Whineberg.

i hate my job.
-
Faack, I called this for "show of the year to not miss if there was one to not miss" and I missed it. Guess that\'s how I don\'t roll these days. Unless its Iron Horse, Sullys, or Mill St. I\'m just probably not gonna be there anymore :/
Hey Sequoia whats up.. come up and play Mill St and Middle East man!
-
show was epic ! standing 4 inches from dangle doo and timmy\'s grills shredding was something i\'ll never forget one of the best times/shows ive had/seen. the band was not messin around with the jammin. i still think mayfly was jam of the night. instantly knew the show was gonna be something else. great fucking time. like i said earlier b fam fuckin pwns. richeous !!
-
...you\'re a weird fuckin dude, i love ya, but you are...
-
:wah:
-
whats pwns?
-
"pwns" was originally a typing mistake from back in the 80\'s when computer geeks would play online text based games, the term was "owned" but it\'s suspected that due to chubby fingers typing too fast the "p" kept kept getting hit instead. i looked it up cuz i was so sick of seeing it everywhere. i still love when they all became fat-asses from playing warcraft on southpark and cartman goes, "dude, you just got poned."
-
pwned, brah. get real

:Dkid dude u get real!

as much as i\'d like this to continue, i have a feeling that this was a one-time thing.

good seeing everyone, as always
-
as much as i\'d like this to continue, i have a feeling that this was a one-time thing.
Jordo said he will definitely be back for another show or two sometime. Seemed like he really had a good time.

We had a great time. A little sadness crept in as well. There were several folks who mentioned to me that seeing Jordan with the band again made them feel a little sad but the show was awesome.
I must say that it was every bit like the shows in the early days. I couldn\'t help but smile. The PA kind of sucked, Jordan was a little low in the mix, the venue was so so. There were probably only about 40 or so hard cores getting down. But walking away I had the biggest F-ing grin from side to side.
We bolted just prior to the end of the show. It was GREAT seeing all the old school faces. Made the night time warp to 2003 or so.

Will this show be going up on archive?

i hope the slight delay, well compared to how fast shows usually go up, isn\'t a bad sign...

i would kill for a recording right now

i would kill for a recording right now
Me too!

tried to do a matrix, the soundguy didnt know how to get the outputs working on the board, so i ripped the cables out during the opening jam and i tried plugging into their on stage monitor mixer and couldnt get a signal off of that either.
the soundguy was no help. he tried a million different things to try to give me a signal. after he pushed a bunch of buttons and nothing worked i just said forget it walked away because i wanted to enjoy the show.
i havent even listened to what i do have, but its only the mics that were behind adrian. probably no vocals in the recording. i havent even bothered to take the memory card out of my bag to see what i have yet because it wont sound good.

"No Quarter" tease in May Fly by Jordan
Since it seems that there won\'t be a (good) recording, can I get some credit for this callout on good faith, now?
-
i love how there are no recordings since 2002 of YEM
-
Fcuk. :hair:
yeah..
i was really looking forward to hearing this. loved mayfly and see the light. sucks this show had to be at a restaurant where it was impossible to tape.

i love how there are no recordings since 2002 of YEM
That\'s because it was only played 4 times from 2003-2008. The last recording on archive is 4/18/2002. As a whole, it was played 27 times (4 times in \'99, 8 times in \'00, 7 times in \'01, 4 times in \'02, 1 time in \'03 and 3 times in \'08).
-
YEM has definitely been played more than 3 times in \'08
-
Ken coming through in the clutch?
-
soarry chip ^^
-
I thought Ken taped it...
-
YEM has definitely been played more than 3 times in \'08
i think it is only 3, Gfunk, and i really want to hera at least one of them

ds# - Gfunk is correct... YEM was played 4 times (9/29, 10/4, 10/11, 11/17). I missed that one.
-
my tapes not quite as bad as i thought. just dumped off the memory card.
vocals are muffled, but it sounds better than if the show was at the webster or something. has some dropouts in the opening jam in the right channel when i was screwing with the mixer. and probably some pops and crackles when i was swapping sbd the soundboard feed with the onstage monitor feed that i wasnt getting signals from.
nothing that cant be fixed. ill try to get it on bt.etree after i clean it up as best as i can.
-
chris you know that I am here to help if you ever need it right? I mean I did go to college for this shit. Well this and bong hit 101 that is...

yeah, well we could have used your help at the show. the soundguy wouldnt help me til after the opening jam started because the mics were buzzing, so he had problems of his own to resolve that werent taken care of til the second the show started.
there was probably a button on each individual channel that needed to be pressed in to send that channel to the rca outs. i gave up early before i got too frustrated to enjoy the show. i didnt even care enough to swap my battery at setbreak. fortunately i made it thru the whole 2nd set.
