** (something about February of some year being the only month in history without a full moon ever (which is false)).

actually, that did happen several times throughout history. It\'s jus a corrolation of two blue moons , in both january and march:
Quote from: 1999
The year began with a full moon on New Year\'s day and we will have another full moon on the last day of January. Having two full moons during one month has come to be known as a "blue moon," because it has been thought to be so rare. "Once in a blue moon," is the old saying we all know. But it really isn\'t very rare.

Since the moon phase cycle is about 29.5 days long any month except February can occasionally have two full moons. In 1999 February has no full moon at all. Then we have another full moon to begin the month of March as well as one to end the month on. Wow! Two blue moons in just three months.

Each of the other months of the year has one full moon, becoming earlier each month until the one in December is on the 22nd, also the date of the winter solstice. And every month has 12 new moons. Thus, in total, we have 12 new moons and 13 full moons during the year 1999.

good catch timmy!

right. what tim said was false. he said that february of year XXXX was the only month in history without a full moon, but it has in fact happened several times:

Quote
Years in which February lacked a full moon are 1809, 1847, 1866, 1885, 1915, 1934, 1961, 1999, 2018, 2037, 2067, 2094

That was a fine night of music. Church opened and I\'d never seen them before (though the dudes in the band look familiar, maybe I have?) and they were a pleasant surprise. I represent the liberal, sophisticated redneck, so I dig that shit ;)

Then Rolla came up, and I wasn\'t sure if they were going to be good until they busted out a nasty "Breathe" by Pink Floyd. After that their whole set was tight and it was clear they had some real talent. Said they were a new band? If so, look out for these guys once they actually get some practice!

Then Breakfast hit the stage and I wasted no time getting right up front and center. I remember looking back at the tables behind the floor and thinking more people need to get up off their seats--- maybe they don\'t know what\'s about to hit them?

Of course, as soon as I saw Tim pick up Adrian\'s Strat, I knew they\'d be gettin serious. (Tim this guitar suits your style best man!!)

Dig was a great song to open a show and get me loosened up and get my sea legs for the 6 or 7 surfers on acid (jager, malibu, coconut juice, yummm) the waiter had convinced me to drink earlier in the night. Then a split Dig > No Regret > Dig which I did, indeed, Dig, because having drove almost 3 hours by myself after my buddies stood me up to go night skiing, I was definitely in the "Living with no regret" mentality.

Next thing I remember was the Psygn which I enjoyed thoroughly. Love Lake!!! As if my night wasn\'t already made.... Swim at the love lake!

But the best part of the 1st set had to be the sick Score, dare I say the sickest Score of all time, with the special guest guitarist from Rolla. Y\'all gotta check this out when the audio becomes available.. it was a bona fide guitar duel between two serious shredders.

2nd set is where the boys bring home the bacon, and after that 1st one I was pumped. Cheers to the groovy chicks to the right and left of me, keepin\' my front and center zone a pleasant place to get down :D .. and Cheers to GFunk (nice to meet ya) -- it\'s nice to see people having as good a time as I do at these hoedowns!

Taboo or not Taboot called for my patented "stomping-in-place Taboot" dance. There is no way around it. One of the fine ladies to my left was showing off her kung-fu skills at this point... good stuff!

Food for Thought... hahahahaha. Why not stick a Honey Butter in the middle of that shit! Why not, indeed. Honey Butter isn\'t my favorite Breakfast song--yet-- but it grew on me a good bit last night.

PUPPETRY!!
GOOD THINGS!!
BUQUEBUS!!

Hey, if they wanna play sick versions of all three of the songs I was secretly hoping to hear last night, that\'s cool. By the time Buquebus hit I was burnin some serious calories. I think it wasn\'t finished though, like missing that last 2 minute ragin\' solo. It was still one of the best Buquebus I ever heard though. Maybe the best one I\'ve witnessed in person.

I don\'t really remember Night of the Thumpasaurus Peoples... I do believe that it occured though :D

Hot buttered tuna toast from start to finish!

Ladies and gentlemen: Mr. Greg Ellis on Lights! Mr. Josh Dobson on Sound!

Oh yeah, and those guys up on stage too!

What a great trifecta for all three. I was very worried about the sound when I walked in and Chuch was playing, sounded very Websterish. Mr. D. took care of that, the sound up front was superb and consistent throughout. Greg showed his stuff with an excellent lighting system, way to go! And the boys did their stuff, per usual: Echidna\'s was just silly good, did I mention Love Lake? :awwyeah:

Great night, Premier Music Hall has a lot of potential IMO. Definitely needed more people last night, ugh the Danbury curse again.  Interesting side note: I met a guy who had never seen the Breakfast before, he was there because he heard them on Sirius, so pump up that Sirius airplay!

PJ - where were you last night??

ok, first off - fuck toad\'s place. best venue in CT right here. holy shit. i was blown away by what was done with the old Colorado Brewing Company. amazing production - huge lights, huge sound, video screens.. the lights were absolutely fantastic. wow.

people really need to get over their fear of danbury. i\'m not sure what the official numbers were last night (i\'m actually thinking it\'s more than what people there would guess - i\'d say about 150), but you could have 300 people in this place and it would look dead. it\'s HUGE, and the board is about a mile away from the stage.. still, there should have been more people there last night. i don\'t get it. :idunno:

i\'m also gonna get this out of the way now, on February 26, 2006: best sit-in of 2006 happened last night. been waiting for Fuzz/Timmy for years, and we finally got it last night. completely worth the wait. hearing fuzz\'s tone shredding with tim\'s in the best score ever was mind blowing.. i was completely giddy during and after the song. mind-blowing.

ok. first set: very good, but short (~55 min.). Psygn jam was awesome, but as much as i love Love Lake, this segue kinda took some balls away from a really good Psygn jam. Echidna\'s was another highlight - MUCH better than the last one i saw (the SLOOOOW UAC version).. and of course, the aforementioned Score to close the set..

don\'t know if a setbreak should have happened last night. i\'m all for 2 set shows, but 9 times out of 10, there\'s a dropoff in attendance in between sets. this was the case last night as well, and like i said, the crowd was on the light side to begin with.

set 2 took a while to get going for me.. it wasn\'t until Honey Butter that i really felt things were getting started. HB is growing on me. the Puppetry was exceptional. very cool jamming in the middle.. can\'t get into Good Things, i just can\'t.. Queeb was on fire, per usual, and it was great to hear a Thump to close out the night. pretty sure the band was supposed to be off @ 1:30, but played until about 1:45, hence the lack of encore..

all in all, a fantastic time, and i really really really really really really pray that they will be playing there again..

definitely nothing like what CBC used to have, though their curly fries were so stupendous.. i wasn\'t big on my chicken sangwich, but the veggie chip thingies were really good. not making beer, but a good selection on-tap.

obviously freddie has never read anything by james joyce if he thinks that was the longest sentence in the history of the english language. Of course, does that really shock anyone?

Also Dave - good catch, I must have glanced over the \'only time\' part of the speech.

On a side, I had no idea that this was the old colorado and I ended up not doing anything last night. (kicks self)

i took home the dvd after the show to archive it, then i\'ll be passing it onto ron/adrian to see what they wanna do with it. i know the last 5 minutes or so of the show are missing.. imo, it\'s a great on-the-fly video setup they have going there, with robotic cams and all. from what i saw the video was looking great, but in the 2nd set i think the guy started to get a little too crazy with focusing more on making it look psychedelic than capturing the actual performance..

holy shit!!

absolutely unbelieveable show last night. i had never been to the venue when it was the cbc, but was at the place a few months ago with my cousins when it was a country bar and had a mechanical bull (don\'t ask). it is definitely a great venue for the band although i wish more people showed up last night. aside from parking way too far away because of some stupid hockey game and having to deal with the unbearably cold temperatures, i really liked the place a lot and hope that they play there again soon.

can\'t just talk about one or even a few songs played, the sets were just completely mind blowing overall. hearing echidna\'s, honey butter and night of the thumpasaurus peoples were all bonuses that i wasn\'t expecting at all. the fft>honeybutter>fft>puppetry was fuckin ser. good things hasn\'t grown on me yet, but i have been loving psygn. anyhoo, show overall sounded great, lights were sick and the tv screens added a lot.

thanks a bunch to friends of mandler--(ashley, will, tim) for being the most gracious and accommodating hosts i\'ve ever met and keeping the daquiris coming all night. ser latenight with one of the most intense jenga games i have seen in a long time. happy bday chris mandler!! i\'d write more but i feel like absolute fucking death right now.

When they open with Dig I pray that half the people in the room don\'t think to themselves, "Who are these pussies?"  If I went to see a jamband for the first time and they opened with a tra-la-la 5-minute pretty little ditty with corny love lyrics and no jam or intensity whatsoever, it would take three good songs in a row after that to pull me back out from the depths of skepticism.  In fact, when it comes to Dig, I think Tim should call up Bill Nershi from String Cheese and tell him he can have his song back.

Relax, people.  I just wanted to go for quote of the month.  Dig is a good tune.  Soft opener, but good tune.

After listening to much of the first set, I was asking myself if one of the members of the band were in love with somebody. Every tune seemed to have that "lovey-dubey" feel to it.

Score is probably the best tune in the catalogue. Wasn\'t sure if Fuzz knew how to play Score until he ripped the jam.

yeah spacey, it was definitely a thematic setlist. i was noticing that, too.

i also thought i noticed a son of simpleton tease in the end jam of love lake and what sounded like a brief i am the slime tease in the last 1/3 or so of echinda\'s (but that could just be in there on purpose.... i don\'t know arf as well as i should, but i know zappa liked to have reminiscent themes throughout songs)

Echidna\'s doesn\'t really leave any room for teasing. I\'ll have to take  a quick listen. I\'d be very surprised if ANYONE could tease a song during Echidna\'s...

there\' sdef some riffs in there that sound similar, I\'ve thought they were gonna go into slime from arf before, but then I wa slike a zappa tune into a zappa tune? never

The uncertainity was me questioning how we made it home alive with Phirehead driving like such or the doses I chowed, either or.

see, i thought i\'d thought that before, too... that\'s why i thought that it probably is just a similiar lick coming from the same composer. like joe said, there\'s not much room in there for it not to have supposed to have been in there. i just don\'t know the original well enough to know for sure, so i thought i\'d mention it....

I\'m sure the doses didn\'t help the drive, but the drive was quick and interesting to say the least.....AND I MISSED THE END OF FFT. This is why I didn\'t think it was finished......DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

long live the SG!

Ehhhh... I disagree.

Here\'s why:

#1. I\'m a strat player. Admitted bias.
#2. 3 Best Breakfast shows I\'ve been to were all using the Strat:

-1. 1-28-06 Syracuse
-2. This one!
-3. The show at SUNY Binghamton in late 05

... even before Tim started playing the strat I always liked the Tele better than the SG..

Single coils suit a quick, funky, tone-versatile playing style of Tim\'s.

It just sounds wayyy better to me.

Listening to this show and you can hear the empty room.
The thing is the band CAN fill that space musically.
It amazes me that more people do not show up for these type shows.
I mean if I had a chance to see this band in a large space (like this or Newton Town Hall) that was meant for music I would be so all over it. Every time!!!!

Oh and the jam from Psygn into Love Lake is some of the sickest shit!
I wish they had more jams like this.

Post by: WALSH on March 02, 2006, 05:43:12 pm
I do not get the love for this first set really.  Sounds pretty standard until \'Psygn\', such a fantastic addition.  Pec is right on the $$ with his call on the \'Lake\' castrating an otherwise epic jam.  Horrible placement for a song that I really like having back in rotation.  The \'Score\' is ok, obviously the jam RAWKS, but you can really tell on disc that the composed section suffered due to the guest.  I happen to really love \'Score\', so maybe that is why I am a slight bit biased.  Not a big \'special guest\' fan unless they really know the music(i.e. Jedi or Cobb, etc).

Second set was a step up, but not that much.  I do not really care for the first 2 or so minutes of \'Honeybutter\', at all.  Once it gets slower and funky I enjoy it, but the beginning almost sounds like a bad April Fool\'s joke.  The "Butta,Butta, Butta" thing has GOT TO GO!!!  \'echidna\'s\' is solid, but \'NGNL\' is the leader on my short list of songs that should be shelved.

The HIGHlight of the night was \'Good Things\'>\'Queeb\'>\'Thump\'.  There isn\'t even a doubt here.  I have been dreaming of these two songs (GT & Queeb) getting together for a long time, perfection.  \'Good Things\' is one of the best "songs" Tim has ever written, hands down.  So mature in nature and sound, absolutely love it.  \'Buquebus\', while not as pumping as the last few, was a nice fresh take on the penultimate Breakfast classic.  \'Thump\' is just the icing on the cake, perfect placement...I would have been going NUTZ!

First set = c-
Second Set=  b+(only for the last triplet)
Overall= C+

I think that some of these "reviews" are way too overshadowed by the good times that everyone has at Breakfast shows.  Even the boys can have an off night, FLAME AWAY!

i\'m gonna have to agree with leith on this one, i LOVE the transition into love lake. while it may have not been an epic rager, i think it shows a level of maturity and beauty that the guys don\'t often get to show.it had a somewhat techno-y sound, but doesn\'t get reptitive or dull at all, in fact it draws me in every time! that being said, i also agree with walsh that this show wasn\'t a best ever by any means. not bad, just not great.

now 1/21/06, on the other hand....
