Baseball season is right around the corner, and since many of us are either from the Tri-State area or New England, I wonder how this board is split.
I grew up a Yankees fan but went to school in Massachusetts and lived with many die-hard Red Sox fans. For years I watched kids cry as the Yankees beat the Red Sox but last year I was the one left crying. So, are you a Yankees fan or a Redsox fan, do you prefer one over the other? or just don\'t care?

Best baseball flick ever

I\'ll second that.
Let\'s go RED SOX
-
when i was little, i used to play little league baseball, but i sucked and i\'d always get hit by pitches, and one time the rest of the team locked me in the portapotty. watching baseball brings up too much repressed pain for me.

haha, 2 teams the sox swept last year. good choices my man.

I vote Yankees, born and raised, Sox fans make me sick ;)
But the Yankees have not been the Yankees. They are no longer playing Joe Torre baseball.

Yeah but Garret Anderson is healthy this year and we got rid of our runt of a Shortstop for Orlando Cabrera. It will not go down like last year. Confirmed!!!!!

It will not go down like last year. Confirmed!!!!!
i sure hope not, i couldn\'t take another Red Sox championship :sigh:
-
Red Sox obviously.
Spacey\'s comment makes me wonder... If I was a Yankees fan, I think I would be sort of happy for the Red Sox. I don\'t know how anyone could not be, watching them win last year was incredibly moving....
I would think anyone who was even remotely a good sport, even if they weren\'t a fan of the team, would say, "Good for you guys."
-
being a Yankees fan for so long in Red Sox territory has put quite a spin on the rivialry. for me, its more then just 2 teams playing, its being able to hang out with my friends from massachusetts and not being ragged on. i took it bad for quite a while, so my statement was not a shot at the red sox winning the championship, which honestly they were the best team in baseball and did have an unthinkable season, it was the abuse which I must encounter after the red son win a world championship.
boston is the only place and team that you can get a yankees suck chant versus the oakland a\'s or at a patriots game. so, don\'t q the yank, ya know :)
besides, that was so last season...

Yea, sure, Ive given my share of \'good for you guys\', and \'congrats\'. It doesn\'t seem to change the fact that the majority of Sox fans could care less and still feel the need to think they can walk on water now that their team has finally won a championship. What also amazes me is the amount of Red Sox fans who, in the past year, have come out of the woods and consider themselves \'diehards\'. Hell, when the Yankees were dominant I couldn\'t find more than a few Red Sox hats/shirts. Now I can\'t go anywhere without seeing one out of every three people with a Sox somethingorother on. Kinda makes me curious if all these people were fans all along, and just too ashamed to admit it, or if they\'re jusy hopping on the new england sports bandwagon and enjoying the ride while it lasts. . .

In Wallingford? Are you ser? Wallingford is as 50/50 as its gets.
-
drew, i lived in the nice city of New Bedford, Mass for the last 6 years, all the kids I went to college with were from Boston. everywhere you look Boston. Wallingford is what I consider the division line between yankees and red sox.

April 8, 2005 - Yankees Beat Red Sox Among Connecticut Fans, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; But Most Fans Want Boston To Win World Series
By a 43 - 35 percent margin Connecticut baseball fans prefer the New York Yankees over the Boston Red Sox, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Nine percent say they are New York Mets fans. But fans say 54 - 41 percent that they would like to see the Red Sox repeat as World Series Champions this year, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. While they want to see Boston repeat, only 20 percent of Connecticut fans believe the Red Sox can do it. "Most Connecticut baseball fans would like to see the Red Sox win another World Series, but they still remember the curse," said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D.
From March 29 to April 4, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,541 Connecticut registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percentage points. The survey includes 909 baseball fans, with a margin of error of +/- 3.3 percent.
The Quinnipiac University Poll conducts public opinion surveys in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida and the nation as a public service and for research.

Okay, not saying this applies to any Red Sox fans on this board (although it might), but as a majority, have some friggin class! And don\'t call it pride either, because it isn\'t. I just got back from the Providence Bruins game. I was sitting two rows from the glass, with my Yankees hat on backwards. Half way through the 3rd period what do I hear? "Let\'s go Red Sox, Lets go Red Sox," which was fine, I understand the game was on out in the hallways. But no more than 30 seconds later apparantley someone caught glimpse of my cap or even worse, didn\'t, and a good 15 people start chanting "Yankees suck!, Yankees suck!." AT A PROVIDENCE BRUINS GAME! AN ICE HOCKEY GAME!!! C\'mon people!
Sorry if this sounds harsh, I am a little bitter about it.
-
ant - same thing happened to me @ Pearl Jam in Mansfield in \'03.. same exact thing, except my hat proceeded to get taken off my head and passed around.. yeah, fun.
-

By all means not a Yankees praise either.
My personal favorites:
5. Curt Schilling\'s bloody sock. Hockey players mock this.
8. Carlton Fisk\'s home run. Here\'s the deal: YOU LOST GAME 7.
22. "Yankees suck" chants. It\'s pathetic, lame, embarrassing and not funny. Give it up.
23. "Yankees suck" T-shirts. Even more pathetic, lame and embarrassing.
36. All the bandwagon fans. As recently as 1998, the Red Sox ranked just ninth out of 14 teams in the American League in attendance.
37. That time Manny Ramirez played left field with a water bottle in his back pocket. (I actually thought that was pretty hilarious)
81. The reverence given former owner Tom Yawkey. Geez, maybe he\'d have won a World Series if he had considered signing Jackie Robinson or Willie Mays.
86. . . .How \'bout the other Sox? They haven\'t won since 1917. When\'s the last time somebody made a documentary on their fans?

RED SOX RED SOX RED SOX RED SOX
You get the point?
-
red sox fan living in new york, I can\'t believe this!

Red Sox 2004 World Series Champs:
"It\'s how they won, is what bothers me."
-"Won 4 in a row"
What are the statistical odds?
1 in 86 years...versus our ratio which is..well overwhelming compared to that. :)
