Louis Wain was a British artist known primarily for his paintings of cats. He developed schizophrenia as he got older, and this can be seen in his art. You can trace his decline into schizophrenia in the way in which he depicted cats.
Anyhow I just found in my computer this picture of my cat (George) which really reminds me of Louis Wain...
