I hate Guinness. I get alot of crap for that but I do not care. It is not a beer I like. Is there any other PBfans who do not like guinness ? Do not be afraid of the guinness mafia that has infiltrated this forum. They are a surly bunch who do not take to outsiders very readily. Speak your mind and let it be known that Guinness is not for all!!!!

I have said many times b4 I do not care for that crude oil disguised as beer. Just nvr really cared for it. Jocelyn pretty much dared me to start this thread telling me it would be a lonely thread. Knowing u guys though I figured yall would have to throw in your 2 cents. The Breakfast win does have me puffing mixed salads of blueberry and hindu kush so yeah I\'m delirious. BTW i prefer NewCastle to Guinness anyday.

personally, I\'m not a big drinker but when I do its guinness or a black and tan. I can\'t stand piss water beers

I like Guiness but the fact that the Alcohol content is one of the lowest (draft) I will choose a less filling more satisfying ALE.

Great to see the old Newcastle being as popular over there. Personally, though I like Guinness, I\'ve always found the Murphy\'s in Ireland to be much better, though the crap they export to us is usually on a par with the Guinness - drinkable, but not that great.

Alright Leith, I won\'t give you a hard time for this one, because you are a Newcastle fan. I do love the Good Guinny, but, the Sweet Newky Brown is my favorite beer. Always treats me right. That is, when it\'s not skunked. I have gotten more skunked Newcastle than any other type of beer.

Guinness is one of the worst stouts I\'ve ever had. It\'s not bad, I mean, on the good/bad spectrum it falls slightly on the "good" side, but it\'s the most overrated beer ever and it\'s a weak exampe of its style. Plus, the Guinness we get is brewed in Canada and only half as stong as the real stuff brewed in Ireland.

There was this beer that I tried in Ireland called Smithwick\'s... god, it was so delicious, what I wouldn\'t do to get my hands on a pint of that stuff! *sigh* I need to go back...

Dont get me wrong, I love my Guinness but I just cant drink it as often anymore. Im a huge New Castle binge asof the last few weeks, good shit, never used to like it and then I fell in love as quick. Guinness is too inconsistent, ya have to go to a bar who knows how to poor one, ala Tommy Sullivans in Branford (and if ya get the right bartender ya get yourself a nice little clover on top of the head). I\'ll still drink a guinness when I want one, but not as beer of choice for a night of drinking anymore.
And, I dont think Id buy a keg of it anymore after the price tag, heh. But then again I dont care that I took a hit that night, everyone had an awesome time.

AAHHHHHHH. You had to do it huh? If there was a beer I do not like more than guinness its that swill. I know it seems odd but i just never fell for the hippie trap of Sierra. I remember when that crap first hit the lots in the early \'90\'s. Everyone I know now loves it and I am convinced they are just blinded by habit. Oh man I hate that stuff. Sorry Marcial but if I buy u a beer it will be Newcastle.

No way Sierra is a great beer, nice and hoppy but not TOO bitter. Worst pale ale I\'ve ever had was the Red Hook IPA.. now that stuff is GROSS

truthfully though, if I\'m out to DRINK, I can\'t down heavy beers all night... I usually get a guinness or two, a sierra, and about 10 good ol\' Miller Lites... yep, that\'s right... yellowbeer...

Smithwick\'s is pretty common in NYC Irish bars. It\'s decent, definitely one of the smoothest beers I\'ve ever had. It\'s like silk...light in body and not the slightest bit bitter. A little kid could drink it.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a fine beer, I don\'t know how you could hate it Leith, but what I always say is "If it tastes good, it is good". Also, don\'t bash the whole brewery based on that 1 brew. Back in my tour manager days we stopped at the brewery after High Sierra and they had some fantastic styles that I didn\'t even know existed, including "Best Bitter" (a superb ESB) and a very nice smoked rauchbier. I had a keg of the brown ale one time at one of my parties that was amazing, and Celebration is one of the world\'s best seasonals.
Joce, I totally agree that Red Hook IPA is one of the worst ever...but it\'s Anheuser-Busch, and everything they\'ve ever tried to make that is not Natty, Bud, Busch, or Michelob has been laughable. Another doozie IPA is Spotted Cow made by New Glarus Brewing Company. It\'s huge in Wisconsin, everyone loves it, I thought it was gross, maybe I just had a bad batch.

I will admit Sierra Nevada does have some other decent brews.
Now that the thread is moving towards this how about Fat Tire ? Ever had that ? Colorado specialty. YUM!!

Ahh, good stuff, tryed it for the first time last week in Branford, CT. Goes great with Guinness, ala Black and Tan style.

Here\'s my top 100 based on beers I\'ve reviewed at beeradvocate.com Certainly a lot of beers that I never reviewed though. Trappistes Rochefort 10 is my all-time fav, but I\'ve never reviewed it. That\'s the one I wrote a story about in the Summer Tour 2002 review.

I am not a fan of Guinness as there are many stouts I\'d prefer over it. As others mentioned, I\'ll take a New Castle over a Guinness any day. I suggest people pick up some Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout while it\'s around this Winter.

Young\'s Double Chocolate is amazing. A buddy of mine is going to start brewing a chocolate oatmeal stout over the weekend. It took me a while, but I actually love Guinness now. It\'s very smooth and one of the only beers you can drink when you are completely stuffed with food because it doesn\'t bloat you more.
