this was an absolute blast last year! it was also july though. hopefully it\'ll be warm enough in may. glad to see it\'s a friday night though. could make for some fun in the city afterwards.

i wanna say 11:30, but i\'m not certain. may want to check last year\'s thread.

i don\'t like that there\'s an opener. i think we did just fine last year without one. :(

this is awesome! a little weird to have in may though...

saw the indobox at sully\'s a few weeks ago and i was impressed. my friend forrest manages the band and these guys are big fans of the breakfast/have been looking forward to playing with them. even though it would be ideal to not have an opener, the indobox will definitely draw some new fans to breakfast music and there\'s nothing wrong with that. can\'t wait for this show!

As if I didn\'t drink enough on the boat last year, after the show I unnecessarily hit a couple of bars in the city, one of them in Penn Station while waiting for my train.  I don\'t remember much of that night after the show... :chug:

I agree.  I had so much fun!  Hopefully it won\'t be too rough.  It kinda rained last year...but still had a blast!  OH and I\'ll be flying home from Florida that day....so it\'ll give me something forward to after my trip! :disco:

I don\'t remember anyone getting sick last year. Can\'t wait for this again.  Something about the motion actually makes it better imo.  I especially like music when I\'m driving fast, and the boat has the same effect.

As for it being in May, last year in July I sweat through my shirt. It gets hot and crowded in there.

Indobox is sick.  SOme of their jams get very intense.  I think these guys would have a great tour if the teamed up together and toured up and down the Northeast.  Indobox draws pretty well and i think some of their fans would be turned on by the Breakfast and vice-versa.

I at least hope both these bands play Block Island again this year...I would love to be there for that.

You were drinking from bottles.  But I think there may have been cans of the \'beer\' you don\'t drink.

And I don\'t think it was BYOB.  But I remember making the bartender make me a mixed drink of watermelon pucker, vodka and orange juice.  Now that I think of it...that\'s kinda nasty.  I guess I was really drunk.

alright, i remember the pitch now. i had to buy the $5 cans of crappy yellow beer because it\'s strictly a cash bar on the boat [right?]. the train was byob.

just a thought...albany has party cuises that bands play on...its pretty common...they go down the hudson for a few hours.  since red square is no longer a viable place for the band to play, this might be another good option for this summer in the capital region.

what about valentines?  there are tons of places they could play in albany i bet.

i\'d LOVE for the guys to get a gig at tulipfest one year - it\'s mother\'s day weekend every year and i go every year.  and it\'s free.  they have tons of bands no one has ever heard of and one or two headliners (this year, spin doctors and rustic overtones, in the past, joan jett, they might be giants, earth wind and fire)

and, i\'m going to ny this weekend might as well hit up this cruise. working on getting out early in boston in order to make it.

tulipfest would be a sweet gig, and its not THAT hard to get (although they typically like to get local bands besides the one or 2 headliners they have)

valentines sucks...the sound blows, it smells like shit in there, and they dont have great beer

i would suggest trying some places in saratoga (maybe try lining up a post-SPAC show in town)  its always super busy after SPAC shows and there a several really good places to play up there.

canadian dj duo. they have some pretttty cool stuff. their album "the looks" is solid, but i really like the remixes they do on lots of songs (check out the Justice "D.A.N.C.E" remix, it\'s tight!). i saw them in october in brooklyn and it was cool, but im not sure i\'d go out of my way to see them again. it\'s fun to dance to and all, but, gets a bit monotonous.... i can burn ya a disc if you\'d like!

we\'ll most likely be on the 4:24 or 4:50 out of new haven. not sure which one yet. i\'m in class in east hartford all week and while it\'s technically supposed to go til 5 every day, i expect to be out very early on friday.

I\'m assuming that\'s a commuter rail?

Speaking of commuter rails, how late does the "Shore Line East" run from NYC and how far west does it go?

well, it\'s metro north (http://www.mta.info) from nyc to new haven. shoreline east (http://www.shorelineeast.com/etrains.htm) goes east of new haven, but stops running pretty early in the night if i\'m not mistaken. oh, and it goes from new haven to new london.

Hmmm

Amtrak it is then.

All of y\'all should take Amtrak for the following reasons:

1.) It doesn\'t leave penn until 3 (way later than metro north leaves grand central)
2.) They serve beer and food on the train.
3.) ME!

I\'ll be in new haven that morning/day, don\'t know what time I\'ll be free but it should be well before the 4:24 departure. I\'ll give you a call for meet/up.

as of right now, i think we\'re shooting for the 330 train, so we have plenty of time to get to the city, grab a bite, booze it, then get to the pier.

but im perpetually late, so... who knows ? :)

is it friday yet?

now that ive got tix purchased im getting antsy.  this will be a good consolation for having to miss awesometown unexpectedly due to a fried starter at 6pm this past fri.

how many people does the boat hold?

and i hear these boat cruises are pretty much a free for all with little in the line of security.  is this true previous boat cruisers?

why bother taking a chance? buying in advance comes out to be the same price as buying at the door.

as i have no idea what time I\'ll be ready to head down, if you guys are down there for the 3:30 and I\'m ready I\'ll try and meet up with you... assuming you\'re taking the metro north out of new haven and not the amtrack out of wallingford(?)

i find it really hard to believe they will presale 200 tickets (i think thats capacity right?)even  with the co-bill...but hey it saves 5 bucks a ticket and looks good for the band why not do it?

you have to take into consideration that the opener indobox has a good following as well.  i wouldnt be surprised if they presold 200 tix.  apparently as per the bisco board thread on this cruise there are some folks using this cruise as a graduation celebration.

maybe the security guard just thought you were hot.

I\'ve never done the nyc boat because they were always wednesdays. In boston I didn\'t get checked that I remember, but I also was helping with load in so that might be why. probably better safe than sorry.

Of course, last minute, my cousin announces she wants me at her 30th birthday bash at the casino....so now I\'m torn.  I really want to go to the boat cruise, but i know i will feel guilty if I dis the cousin, cause she has ALWAYS been there for me.

I will be going back and forth on the this for the next two days...

i dont know.  i would imagine theyd have to have a pretty high rail with some sort of safety precaution to insure that drunktards wont stumble overboard.  ive never been on one of these boat cruises(which is surprising since i go to nyc all the time for shows).

Okay so here\'s my question...

what\'s this boat like?  Like are we doomed to be like gilligan\'s island??

I mean, is there safety from the rain? Or are we just going to get soaked?  Cause this could make my final decision on whether to go or not to go.

last year they were on the smaller boat and played upstairs. they played on the bigger boat/bottom floor in \'05. i don\'t remember the boat from the \'06 show lol.

either way, there will definitely be some shelter if the rain is bad.

Bachelor party in Atlantic City on Saturday. Person I\'m commuting with can\'t get to Syracuse until 3:00 at the earliest, which makes it almost impossible to get to the dock by 8:00.

Have fun! Don\'t forget to bring a towel. :boat:

i feel like everyone is being debbie downers about the weather.  i am being optimistic for once.  no matter what, its going to be awesome.  as long as i have a hoodie, i\'m good.

Anyways, it really doesn\'t matter for me, I have a Daddy/Daughter night tonight, so I\'m excited about that.

On the plus side when it rains the security / bouncers tend to not do the walk around outside so you should be able to party. it will just be tough staying dry

you better find him early cuz hes going in the water real quickly  :bounce2:
hahaha. i wonder if people have actually been pushed or fallen into the water on one of these cruises.

let\'s hope that doesn\'t happen tonight!!!

either way, i\'m out so you guys have fun tonight.  i tried all week to be able to get out in time and i would have had to get to work at 7am in order to do so.

this wouldn\'t have been a problem had i actually had anything to do between 7-10am but i knew my work wouldn\'t be ready til 10am.

plus i\'m out three days next week and have to leave early the following friday for a wedding related event.

you guys have fun.  see you on the boston boat this year (if there is one).

in other notes, i\'m in for the after party, should be in NY by 9.

Nope.

I don\'t really do well on the boats. It seems to really mess with my equilibrium for some reason.

Plus I would like to catch the new band in a good venue for my first show.
