Title: For some fun baseball to watch.
Post by: leith on August 26, 2004, 01:32:27 am
Anyone checking out the Little League World Series ? Cali has got another red hot team in contention. I love watching the LLWS because these kids play their heart out and it means so much to them. I remember seeing Long Beach win consecutive LLWS back in like \'93/\'94 w/ a kid named Sean Burroughs leading them and now he\'s the Starting 3rd Basemen for the Padres. I want to go to Williamsport for the Championship someday it would be a blast to sit out on that hill. Anyways just wondering if anyone else was watching.

For the record....
Watching little leaguers play baseball is as painful as watching womens basketball....in the respect that I would rather watch grass grow, paint dry, or just stare at a clock on the wall......

nothing against kids or women.  Its just boring.....

Baseball blows only to those that do not understand or care for the intricacies of Baseball. It is the ONLY game w/o a time clock and is a wonderful way to relax and enjoy a sunny summer/ fall afternoon. Little League Baseball is great for the pure satisfaction of watching kids have fun and knowing that the game is most def. Not the main reason they are playing. As far as your opinion goes @ the moment it is still a right you have as long as your opinion is in line w/ Bush. The more our civil liberties are eroded under this imbecile the faster you may find that your opinion is now a privilage.

Bummer for you man. I actually like to see women in shorts running around. If the WNBA would follow the Austrailian women\'s team uniforms ratings would SOAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I laugh @ everyone that complains about the WNBA. It is fun to watch though not as flashy for sure. These women play just as hard if not harder than their counterparts in the NBA and team concept is first. So for me it is a refreshing change of pace.

I don\'t have any figures to back this up (Wolf?), but if I were a betting man I would bet that the WNBA is losing tons of money.  Fortunately, the NBA can keep it around for a tax write-off and to keep women\'s groups off its back.  And as far as the level of play, it is just like watching women\'s college ball.  In the NCAA, there are just a few female players who dominate anyway, so throw them all together and you\'ve got the WNBA.  The team with the best players wins.  Always.  It\'s not like the NBA, where just taking the "best players" doesn\'t necessarily make the best team (see: The $678,000,000 2004 Olympic team).  There is a greater number of "good" players in the NBA, and that makes for an all-around better game.

But in the end, NBA players phone it in until the postseason.  That\'s bound to happen in a league where 50% of the teams make the playoffs.  I\'ll take men\'s college hoops anyday.
