Hello all...
I realize there have not been many posts in the recent weeks regarding Grassroots. A lot of that has to do with some upcoming changes to the way that Grassroots will be/ is being handled. At this moment I am in the middle of mailing out packages for late May/early June shows.
I\'d like to make a big push for the show at the Webster Theatre on Saturday
May 7th. By this I mean I\'m looking for interested parties in CT who would like to help....DocEllis has signed up so far and has volunteered some new art work as well.
I ask that folks either PM me or call my cell at 203-915-9916. The Breakfast email address does not / has not always worked properly which is why some folks never receive a reply from me.
On that note, the show is in two weeks, and if we can hit up most places in New Haven and Hartford counties, it would be golden. Hope to hear from you all soon...
Sean

GET BENT NOOB!
noob? nobody has called me that since i was about 16. get bent?
i don\'t understand why any of this would upset anyone. regardless of how people respond to this i\'m still going to do my best to help make grassroots better. maybe i haven\'t been on the forum a lot but i\'ve definetly been around for a while. ive toured with them, done merch for them, helped with promotions before and i\'ve slept on the floor of grubby hotel rooms. all because i love them so much. i saw a place where i could be useful and i just want to help. i\'m not telling anyone what they should do. im just excited about doing something to help these guys out.

Tangie that\'s just Steve keeping up his ruff and tumble Wah understudy front. We all appreciate the help you and others are doing "behind the scenes". I remember buying Deuce from you back in July\'03 @ Winston\'s. Peace!

For all of those who are interested in helping out this grassroots effort for the Webster Theater show, here is a link for all upcoming shows in CT from today until 5/7.http://www.jambase.com/search.asp?band=&venue=&city=&stateID=7&adv=1&fromdate=04%2F26%2F2005&todate=05%2F07%2F2005 This is a good place to hand out bills. Also, I know that within 20 minutes of my house there are 2 head shops that I usually flood with bills, places like these are generally good spots. Because this is an all ages show, it might be a good thing to hit up places where teenagers chill. The idea is obviousily to get people interested and not to have flyers on the ground.
Anyone else have any suggestions? It might be good to start discussing the best ways to promote this band. Because it sucks to see these guys playing in front of 15 people in places they should be packing. Especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

i will be getting my normal stack of 500 handbills to pass out during my travels..

Not sure if this is proper or not but I began emailing local radio stations about the Webster Show and asking them to plug it but also seeing if they could play a tune of the album.
My new campaign is to get the Breakfast on Landry\'s Blue Plate Special. Gotta try something, right?
Here is a link to the request if anyone else is interested in emailing her, the radio station is WPLR 99.1, http://www.wplr.com, finally the direct link; blueplate@wplr.com

I think one of my aunts works there i might be able to beg and plead and have her make it my wedding gift. Let me get on that.
-
nice, should be a very special wedding gift :awwyeah:
any little thing helps, might as well call in the favors now.
do you have to register that on your wedding gift list?
-
Just got this reply from one of the personalities at PLR. So emailing them may not do us any good;
Jeff:
I appreciate the e-mail.
However, I am sorry to say I can\'t help you with this. PLR today is a very tightly programmed classic rock station - not like the old days anymore. The on-air staff does not have the freedom to pick the music. We still run a local bands show on Sunday nights but that is the best I can do.
Apologies,
-
read: corporate crap master :sigh:
-
i had figured the corporateness but didn\'t want to believe it...
it was worth the try though, didn\'t hurt that much...
-
nice efforts anyhow

Their total song rotation is down to a few hundred songs. That\'s it! Absolutely worthless waste of time, other than the local bands show.
-
if you go to wplr.com you can see the last 10 or 20 songs they played on the radio. then you can go to any other classic rock station owned by clear channel and see that their web sites are identical. when you check the last few songs that the other radio stations play and compare to wplr you can see that all the stations of the same format play all the same exact songs around the same times.

The Webster Theater show is 9 days away. Has anyone even begun to promote this show with handbills or anything? I hate to sound pessimistic but 1 week prior to a show is not going to turn heads. People are not going to drop what they may have planned to go to this show. I.E. not hardcore fans, I mean.
I am hoping to get handbills in the mail today or I will be forced to go to BAR in New Haven tomorrow night.
I just think that if anyone is interested in promotions for this show, we have to kick it up a notch and get it done. I know of a few places to hit it up but again here are shows this week leading up to may 7.
