Where would YOU like to see The Breakfast play New Year\'s Eve this year?
1. Connecticut
2. Massachusetts
3. Rhode Island
4. New York City
5. Anywhere Else
6. I dont care because I will be there no matter where it is
7. I dont care becuase I am not going because I have other plans
MODERATOR! Can someone please fix this for me...I tried to post a poll but failed miserably.....Thanks.....Gencs
-
^^i have been thinking about he same thing lately, I think we can all agree on one thing NOT THE WEBSTER!!!!
-
well, see thats were we DISAGREE, I don\'t mind the webster but I don\'t care because I fall under #7.
-
^^where the fuck do you think you\'re going???
oh and the first post has since been edited, so I\'d say CT but if not maybe Mass
but really #6
-
number 6 for me too
-
Well, western Mass would be cool. Also in Northampton there is a sweeeet party on the streets where mad people come out and the whole town turns into a party called First Night or something.
Pretty sure they let the venues/bars stay open well past the normal 1:00am curfew too.
But really I\'d probably drive whereever to be there--
-
#6- But...PLEASE NOT the Webster!!!!
-
#5 - i live in NYC and would love to see BFast over new years
I\'m thinking theatre at MSG?
-
Personally, I would love to see the Breakfast usher in the new year in Providence, RI. I think it is pretty centralized to most of New Englands Breakfast fans and is a sweet city that is small but has a city feel to it.
Boston sucks balls. period.
North Hampton would be cool, but it is a pretty lame-o city.
I wouldnt mind Mill St Brews, but it seems we draw close to nothing there....
NYC....I will keep my comments to myself on this one, though I think that the Big Apple has never ever ever shown this band any love...
An Upstate NY venue might be cool......
just some food for thought......
-
#6 is the truth.
if its NYC then we definitely need it announced soon, so we can make proper arrangements.
-
Utica!!!!!!!
-

I\'m thinking theatre at MSG?
oh my young padawan......first off let me say...ARE YOU SER????????
Maybe NYE 07/08 or more realistically 08/09........but for this year...the theater at MSG probably NOT GONNNNNA HAAAAAAPEN....however I am a fan of thinking big....so keep it up OMG...what the fuck is your first name again? owen? oren? oscar?
-
If Tobacco Rd was still around I would vote for NYC but otherwise.
-
North Hampton would be cool, but it is a pretty lame-o city.
You\'re out of your element donny, its only the chillest big-town/small-city in Mass! The music scene here is huge, the place is packed with dank restaurants and bars all in walking distance, and we\'re surrounded by colleges and there is an unusually high concentration of heady folk. Plus its central to NY and all of New England and Northampton/Amherst has been showing Psychedelic Breakfast ser love since the incarnation.
Only thing that sucks about Northampton is the early curfew. On NYE that\'s not an issue. Plus there will be a TON of people in the town that night, from all over western mass just chillin. Whereever Breakfast plays will be sold out like fresh trout
I guess there\'s a first time to hear everything lol
:peace:
-
its easy. do the bowery or something AFTER moe. at Radio City. so many people would come. and i could go!
-

fair enough my friend....
fair enough...
-
I\'m voting for something local... so i can wake up after passing out & still have somewhat of an idea of where i am ;)
-
gencs, i was joking about msg, and my name is oliver haha (you can call me owen if youd like)
-
Steve,
NYC showed much love to Psychedelic Breakfast. Tobacco Rd NYE was shoulder to shoulder. The band loved playing there and we loved seeing them there. But NYC today is teh ghey.
There is nothing different about NYC compared to other cities now. It doesn\'t have the vibe it used to. You cannot party like u used to etc etc.
I vote for a venue where smoking is still allowed inside and 21+.
Why dont we go somewhere South fro the winter. Like Florida or fly out west for some nice warm air
-
...or....nyc
-
smoking inside = yuck
21+ = no love for my younger brothers and sisters... they deserve to be there too :)
-
MODERATOR! Can someone please fix this for me...I tried to post a poll but failed miserably.....Thanks.....Gencs
This appears to have worked. I even put in an extra option for boombox. ;)
-
i remember being under 21 and all the shows were 21+. Now that I am over 21 I have noticed more and more shows targeting 18+. kind of pisses me off so I show no love for those who are under 21+. As for where the breakfast should play I saw in the south somewhere. its always nice down there during the north\'s frigid winters
-
i vote that the new years shindig be at toads. if its in nyc then theres gonna be a lot of other shows drawing people... either way, i vote that we all chip in some money and get boombox a ticket down forthe extravaganza. whaddyathinkaboutthat?
-lexingon
whatever happens we should all throw down and get boombox a ticket down. whaddyathinkaboutthat?
-
we would need to chip in money for his wife and child as well. Leaving mom at home with a 3 month old so you can jump across the pond to catch a concert by some band she\'s never heard of=many lonely nights on the couch ;)

Sounds good. If we each sacrifice the price of a couple drinks, the Welshman could catch NYE.
-
Toads.
or something latenight like after moe like wiredchicken was saying
-
moe.rons will bring the party. all the Breakfast have to do is book a room in NYC
-
North Hampton would be cool, but it is a pretty lame-o city.
Not a lame-o city at all!!! I love Northampton, it\'s the fucking Iron dick management of the Iron Horse that I hate.
If Tobacco Rd was still around I would vote for NYC but otherwise.
:that: TR loved The Breakfast and I loved TR!!!!!
-
Anywhere but NYC.
Nothing against the city, but not on New Year\'s. It\'s a bitch to get a hotel, and the streets are full of drunk idiots who can\'t handle their liquor.
-
you know I\'m partial to RI just because the Century is like 10 minutes from my house and it is kind of central New England. one of the bad things is there aren\'t many places for people to get to and crash for the night. there are plenty of hotels and want not and i guess some headie people live in the Boston area which is 45 minutes from Providence so maybe I\'m wrong. but the Century is a great intimate venue, it would just be a matter of how far will people travel on New Years. I\'d like to say Toad\'s but i wouldn\'t mind seeing them in a PACKED house even it is a couple hundred people. from what i have noticed over the past couple years less and less people are going out on the town for New Years.
-
House party!!!!!! (NOT MINE!!!!!)
-
where\'s the option for:
Just Not the Webster!!!!!!
;p
nyc would be decent, as a post-show show kinda deal. atlanta would be another good idea. ct is home turf, so that should be considered for sure. any farther north than ct (like boston, for instance) will make it tough for non-NE\'ers to make it, but how many of them will be coming to the show? right now i\'m conisdering Ancient Harmony in tallahassee, but since that\'s at least 14 hours away, i\'m hoping the breakfast is playing a lot closer than that!
-
North Hampton would be cool, but it is a pretty lame-o city.
Not a lame-o city at all!!! I love Northampton, it\'s the fucking Iron dick management of the Iron Horse that I hate.
Northampton/Amherst also have some of the best dining options, given their small sizes. It\'s hard to find a couple blocks with that much good food even in S.F.
Not sure if I would endorse an NYE up there, with all the students gone for winter break.
-

Well that\'s kind of a dick move.
-
this band would not be without all the younger fans.
-

I think the food was already discussed. :P But yeah... I have always loved Northampton.
Also, Steve. You don\'t know what you\'re talking about with Boston. How can anyone from CT diss Boston? You guys don\'t have a single decent city. :out:
Not to mention Boston is pretty damn fun on NYE.
-
I just dont\' want NYE to be at the Iron Horse.
don\'t get me wrong I love Boston, but it can be crazy and confusing normally, let alone on NYE
-
Well yes it is crazy and confusing, esp. if you are not familiar with it. (Even if you are!)
But that certainly does not mean it "sucks balls. period."
-
I was fortunate as a youngin to have callahans and blues cafe that were 18+
I\'m all for CT for NYE, as long as its not at the webster and without a blizzard like last year. Can\'t have NYE too far from its hometown fanbase, or else they will be playin for 30 or 40 people.
-
Oh Callahan\'s those were the days!! I still don\'t know how that place was able to be 18+ with the faux wall in there
-

I don\'t know about that assumption. but being out of CT will def. impact the CT hardcore  presence
-
Can the band pull a crowd outside of CT on NYE?
For many people, they will be attending a 1st Tier jamband NYE show or run. What makes NYE great is the run leading up to the NYE show. If it was in NYC or Boston, chances are other larger bands will be pulling away some of the crowd, leaving the b\'fast with a possible doozie. Providence is alright but nothing special.
Also, there accomedations need to be made far enough in advance to get a hotel room and such or whatever. The more laid back of a venue is ideal but definitely not a slum.
If it is an after show for a larger fan-based band then so be it.
At this point in the game they shouldn\'t be sharing the bill with any band, i.e. Max Creek a few years ago.
It will be easiest to promote a show where the band has a large, solid fanbase. CT should be 1st choice, if nothing is available, then they should began the radius outward.
I believe after the 1000th Show and the turnout expected for the CD release party, Toads may be greased enough to give the band the NYE spot, perhaps 2 nights?
-
^ fingers crossed for toads
-
Toad\'s would be the ideal situation
-
HEADLINING AT Toad\'s would be the ideal situation
fixed
-
^^valid, no more opening gigs on NYE, we should be beyond that
-
Iron Horse does suck. I\'ve been saying Breakfast should be playing Pearl St. Ballroom for some time now.
Calvin would be nice but lets not get ahead of ourselves ;)
Toad\'s kinda sucks too. Not a chill vibe for a venue IMO, and splitting the 21+ from the 21under is wack. Not every town is as lucky to have a sweet venue as Newmarket NH.
-
I am pretty sure that Toads is booked for NYE......
Its just personal opinion, but I like New Haven and Providence way better than Boston.....I just get an obnoxious sense of entitlement from people who live in Boston....Entitled to what you ask? I have no idea...... Maybe I just need to have more than 3 good nights in Boston in my life to help sway my feelings...
If Tobacco Road was open, I would hope there would be no need for this thread......ah well....I guess we will just have to wait and see........
-
well the longer it sits on the back burner the less chances we have of getting into a decent venue
from what i saw The Cetury Lounge isn\'t booked as of yet. couple good shows in the cue as well RAQ, P-Groove, U-Melt all of which i think i\'m yet to see.
-
Oh Callahan\'s those were the days!! I still don\'t know how that place was able to be 18+ with the faux wall in there
Yeah, they stretched that rule from here to Cali!!!
-
I agree w/ superw00k here.. somewhere like the bowery, post moe. throw down, BUT with an early ACOUSTIC show for the heads to ring in the new year... with an opener we\'ve heard of....
-
chances are other larger bands will be pulling away some of the crowd, leaving the b\'fast with a possible doozie.
acutally, if it was an after show, it may help that much more. i mean, the moe.rons have become VERY suppostive of the Breakfast....
-
gotta agree with colin on this. a late show in nyc would be very ideal. there are quite a few places to choose from: lucilles at bb kings, coda(although umelt might already be looking into that), bowery as mentioned, tonic(a touch small but a cool place along the same size as coda), the knit again. also plenty others as well im sure.
ill be at moe. so hte only way i catch hte breakfast is a late show.
-
eitherway, i think they should really be getting ready to annoucnet hier plans for NYE. so people can make arangements and rooms dont get booked. interested to see what thier shoice is....
-
Steve said he was pretty sure that Toad\'s has been booked.
-
Steve said he was pretty sure that Toad\'s has been booked.
This is true, though not concrete yet. Toad\'s is reserving the right to pull the plug if the Freakout flops, but good attendence @ 1,000 went a long way to put the band back in Toad\'s good graces.
After B\'fast NYE in \'03 and \'04, Toad\'s rolled the dice with the "B. Willie Smith Band" for \'05, which was truly awful. 80 indifferent people, and compliants from the band that drunken club employees pelted them with snowballs as they were leaving.
-

rotfl
that\'s awesome.. i guess if i were stuck working on NYE and they were playing, i\'d have done the same thing!
-
oh, i thought steve was maybe saying the club was booked by someone else. i still think a show in NYC would do great.
-

Yeah, what did they possibly get for tips from 80 people? Add this to the list of "You know your band sucks when..."
-
oh, i thought steve was maybe saying the club was booked by someone else.
He very well could have been (Steve- clarification?). That is not true however. I heard a B\'Fast rumor flying around there about 3 weeks ago, and the talk was, as I posted earlier, wait and see how the Freakout does.
The precedent is there though, and B.Willie sure ain\'t coming back.
* I actually have someone at Toad\'s checking on this now.
-
The $5 Budweiser cans I drank with Freespirit at Toad\'s on NYE 2004>2005 were the biggest ripoff.
-
they should play in fullerton, california b/c my fam lives out there and i will most likely be hangin with them. hahaha...just a shot in the dark
-
Well so much for that, an email I got from Toad\'s:
Other shows just announced:

10/6 Shakedown - doing the Dead and beyond
10/14 Eagles of Death Metal (featuring Josh Homme of \'Queens of the Stone Age\')

10/21 Story of the Year

not even a mention pf the freakout in the lineup
-
Hatebreed huh??? :meh: :sigh:
-
who wouldn\'t want to bring in the new year with a little hate?
-
NYC please!
-
^^esp after the last CODA show NYC PLEASE GOD NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Fuck new york!!!
I apologize to anyone who lives in/actually likes new york
-
why esp after that god no?
if it was a dooze, ok. but with moe. at RCMH, The Breakfast would sell out anyshow they did in NYC on NYE as long as it were an after party that goes till the sun rises!
-
I really just don\'t like NYC. and me personally would reather not have to deal with the bull hit of NYC on NYE
-
I really just don\'t like NYC. and me personally would reather not have to deal with the bull hit of NYC on NYE
That\'s it in a nut shell for me too!!!!
-
fuck it. the band don\'t need to play NYE. I\'m going to hatebreed with my doc martens and I\'m going to drink some beer and kick some ass.
-
the ways things are looking so far I\'m ready to say NYE in Albany.
wait a minute what about Utica, now THAT would be something
-
I\'m gonna play pool in my basement!!!
-
HotelTKA new years!!!!
-
I also heard Club Metronome had interest in NYE. Also, Daniel Street (2-night run) has been heard.
-
:hscratch:
-
wait a minute what about Utica, now THAT would be something
That\'s the best suggestion I\'ve heard on this thread so far
I\'m gonna play pool in my basement!!!
did you forget that you have a jamcruise on the 2nd? I have a feeling that you\'re gonna be sitting @ the airport, going through security checks with a BRUTAL hangover wherever PB plays!
-
I forgot about the Daniel Street offer!
-
not too sure how I feel about the Daniel St thing, would love to be so close to home, would love the 2 night run, but I think about my last visit to Daniel St, and even without my own stupidity, the cops are rediculous.
-
the clock is ticking on people waiting to make NYE plans. will we find out before the new album is released? any bets when we get the announcement on where NYE will be held?
-
pssshhh! nye?? that\'s like decades away, brah! we don\'t even know what the fuck\'s goin on in november yet!
-
Thats My Point, Brah!
-
The obvious choice is Wales, UK. What could possibly be more fun than a trip to Europe on NYE for The Breakfast? That\'s my honest vote. Nothing else could pssibly be nearly as crazy as that.
-
pssshhh! nye?? that\'s like decades away, brah! we don\'t even know what the fuck\'s goin on in november yet!
thanks for the chuckle devo....
-
It should be either the Playboy mansion in Holmby Hills or at Joe Francis\'s place.
-
Hotel ___?????
-
beardslee?
-
Hotel ___?????
i\'d be there, but could the hotel hold that kind of madness
-
I\'m changing my vote to Todds basement
-
tuna, congrats on breakin into the top 50 posters (sorry totally unrelated, but i will comment that i dont think theres anyway im gettin out of new england for new years so i say stay close to home)
-
Hotel Aruny?????
-
tuna, congrats on breakin into the top 50 posters
yeh brah you know my philosophy, Quantity > Quality
:disco:
-
so, has anyone heard of any possibilities yet? we may end up at the beach with a bunch of friends instead. need to make arrangements/book the house soon if we\'re gonna. also, we\'d need to book hotel rooms, etc pretty soon if we come up for the show. anyone? bueller?
-
In the words of DPeck:

oooohhh oooooohhh (arnold horshak esq) Do it on the 4th week so I can celebrate my birthday too!!
-
expect the unexpected.
-
-
at this point, i am making other plans. waiting around for details on nye is ridiculous. any bfast management who want to enlighten some people here, now is probably a good time to do it.
-
I plan on having a nice quiet evening at home, watching the ball drop maybe some bubbly, oh and I\'ll prob still be playin Final Fantasy XII
-
FUCK The Breakfast and all other bands that may or may not be playing NYE!!! I\'m staying home and having lots of :beerban: :chug: :bj: :hump: :banbang: :bandoggy: (not necessarily in that order)
-
IF they don\'t get it together to play a spectacular NYE date or run they could plan something for Mardi Gras or Chinese New Year; like that other band, the whats-their-names...

-
Can\'t wait to celebrate Chinese New Year!!!!!
-
vermont?

at this point, i dont think any NYE is gonna happen anywhere........
